2661  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: trading is good for traders with passive mindset on: July 11, 2022, 08:41:14 AM
So in conclusion trading is for the passive mindset and not for the laggy mindset.
I guess you meant "active" and not passive. Passive should throw us the picture of one not be conscientious in their involvement or dealings. Of a truth, trading should be seen as a profession that ought to be paid the needed attention it deserves. If one were to be serious with it, one should take it as respectable as one views any professional career. Medicine, engineering, law, journalism, just to mention but four, aren't in anyway above trading. You know why? The end product of them all is to put food on the table. That's what trading aims at too. So, why would anyone stress to study those courses at school with seriousness for years and not deem it fit to extend such zeal to trading? That's the major reason people fail at trading.
2662  Economy / Speculation / Re: Was $17.5K the low? on: July 11, 2022, 08:25:58 AM
I do not think bitcoin price can decrease down to $12000, people are predicting $14000 or $15000 to be the lowest price or that means bitcoin becomes more volatile after this halving than 2016 halving to 2020 before the last halving.

The market is bullish presently as bitcoin increased back to $20000 and moving towards $21000, but if the bear market continues, I do not think it will decrease up to $12000, I am predicting$15000.
Do you've any TA handle on this to strengthen your position or it's just another guts feeling? I asked this because I've gone through comments online of market analysts who put it around $12,500. While I admit that we are in a highly speculative market where no one truly can say what direction price is headed, I've to point out that some of these analysts predicted that Bitcoin would crash this heavy when it was still on high above $50k. So, we can't say it will never get to that low point. Recently, before this surge, price was around $18k then, one of those analysts mentioned that Bitcoin would get to $23k but that it would be a bull trap before it went down again. I think that's where we currently are at.
2663  Other / Meta / Re: Should there be a central warning board (not reputation) on: July 10, 2022, 07:16:52 AM
I think "Press" is the board where you should post this kind of news though I don't know how many people check out that board frequently. I can't remember when I last time visited the section.
Believe me, if he posted that in "Press" it wouldn't receive the number of replies it did now even in a month. Reason is that users hardly visit that section of the forum. I think service section should be an idea place for it with red sticker to it to draw instant attention. As for the suggestion the OP made, I'm in for it. I believe it will help keep a great deal of people out of financial hurt and losses if they get warned where they can see it on time.
2664  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A newbie with 100$ on: July 09, 2022, 05:32:59 PM
$100 investment in Bitcoin will seem more like a tear drop in an ocean. On Ethereum, one could feel a little impact of that. Any of those two is okay because they're established and reliable cryptos. However, don't expect a great ROI on any of those two. Profit margin won't be as fantastic as it will be if the investment were in any altcoin. If your plan is to hodl long term without any stress or fear of loss, go for Bitcoin.

And if you want to see more then here is the list : Twitter account hijacking 20202
Anyone who believes what's in that picture to be possible is themselves greedy because it takes a greedy person to think there's free lunch out there. Like I said in my post today in another thread that it takes just two things for scammers to hoodwink their prey – Greed and Hastiness. That picture captures both. That last part in the picture Only going on for the next 30 minutes is just to make whoever that's reading it have a feeling that they need to expedite action or miss out on a supposed goodwill of a double return on investment. So, in that adrenaline rush, the victim won't be able to reason or think straight. That's how it has been easy scamming people on that bait.
2666  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Hodlers are actively buying bitcoin these days on: July 08, 2022, 03:24:17 PM
It's not surprising that such old hand mop up is evident now despite the ongoing dip. Anyone who has witnessed a circle of bull and bear seasons knows that now is a discounted opportunity to buy Bitcoin. In 2017, as a newbie I panicked a great deal each time Bitcoin dumped and then I would read some veterans calling for users to buy in. I was like what the heck were those guys talking about. I'm sure, newbies reading members calling for people to buy Bitcoin now that it's dumping will also be expressing the kind of shock and disdain I expressed a few years ago on this. These hodlers buying now are experienced Bitcoiners and that informs why they aren't moved by the current dump.
2667  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: How I Almost Gave Scammers Access To My wallet This Morning. on: July 08, 2022, 02:14:30 PM
If you want to join airdrop (that I think waste of time0, you should use a single wallet for it.
Your single sentence warehoused two vital points – The first being that airdrops aren't profitable this day (unlike what we experienced in 2017). It's a waste of time now. Secondly, what you rightly identified in using a different wallet is apt. That's if one must fancy their chances at all and indulge airdrops, then one should create a different wallet for it.

OP, you saved so many others the hurt of lost funds. Again, you did well alerting the CEO who should take all the blame for ignorantly misleading his investors. That's if he isn't in on the whole thing to start with in a bid to cash out big time. Trust no man on this cyberspace. With the little time I've spent online and in this industry I've come to conclude that there are just two weapons scammers use successfully. That's, one – Greed and 2 – Hastiness. Scammers want to pry on the greed of their would be victims by making them mouth watering offers they will find difficult to resist. This is coupled with making victims think the offer will close on them and they miss out if they don't hurry up and take the offer. Your story exemplifies both items. For me, I try not to be in a hurry whenever I'm on financial dealings, both in cryptos and outside it. I take my time and every other thing can pause until I'm sluggishly done.

I think you were lucky that you did not know Lauda, otherwise, after your flattering words, you could not expect any amount of merit at all.
You're right about Lauda. The user was a controversial persona. I'm not sure any forum drama escaped their attention. However, I don't agree with your angle of a user eliciting any perceived great quality of another should be seen as an attempt to fish for merit. For instance, I've come to associate you with good intention and your posts are pleasant to read too, should I be accused of merit fishing any time I admire your attributes too. Again, my intent study of mankind suffices that no individual can be so bad that no single person likes them. My point in the last sentence is this – even with the perceived bad nature of Lauda, there were users who still admired them and felt bad when that account was "self banned"
2669  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin security tips for beginners on: July 08, 2022, 10:27:56 AM
Cybercriminals utilize advanced methods to crack into BitCoin wallets to steal funds covertly outside the owner's awareness.
You make it sound like cypbercriminals have to be that advanced in tech to be able to wreck havoc. A simple pm promising a great ROI to a greedy newbie can swerve a scam to a criminal's favour, even here. Many people who think (erroneously that is) that Bitcoin is a hyip or a get rich quick type of investment will fall for anything that's a shortcut to riches. To a greater extent, most people get scammed because of their own greed to hit it big instantly. BTW, you don't have to write Bitcoin like it's two different entities with a capital letter c.

Quote
2. Don’t save your recovery seed digitally.
5. Avoid storing your BitCoin in exchanges
Nothing can be farther from the truth with number 2. People shouldn't do that. However, number 5 can only be practicable for those who hodl and not the regular traders who need their coins for daily engagement. You don't want to be transferring Bitcoin/cryptos every time you want to trade.
2670  Other / Meta / Re: Caution for the Forum Users' accounts on: July 08, 2022, 08:45:00 AM
Lauda wasn't banned. He left the forum on his accord and said he was never coming back.
Honestly, worse happened to that account. It wasn't merely banned but it got destroyed, technically. No one can log in from that account according to theymos' assurance which has also been captured in his quote above by other users. I followed that infamous Lauda exit thread while it was fresh.

Security is as important as life for a Bitcoiner. I think a person who is careless with the security of his forum account may also be careless with his keys.
Yes, security is key (no pun intended) but sometimes these things happen and it gets breached. Just imagine if the intruder was able to assess The Pharmacist's email, the whole thing would've looked like TP was careless about the security of his email. I don't think most of those who are victims of hacks are even necessarily careless. It's just a chanced thing upon them.
2671  Economy / Reputation / Re: Announce your rank up, merit or any achievements that makes you feel great! on: July 07, 2022, 10:37:01 AM
Hope the bigdaddy you know doesn't remind you of any bad thing.
Lol 😂... So true. It's the same thing I would think if told that I looked like someone or reminded them of someone, even in real life. You never can tell what memory the other person left on someone.

The puzzle would've been easily solved if the spreadsheet had users' url links on it. You just click on it and it takes you to the correct user's profile. It could be that the big daddy you're seeking registered on the poker site without an underscore to their moniker and that makes it look like it's a different user.

Interesting read, OP. So, bikes are now that expensive in Nigeria? That's almost N400k. Well, let's not even dwell on that now. Back to your experience; I believe it's a win-win situation for you and the seller. You've now scored higher than someone like me who hasn't done a direct Bitcoin exchange for goods. Again, you will always look at that bike beyond what it's. It will continually remind you of your sojourn with Bitcoin. You're the real Most Valuable Player!

Besides, this also brings to the fore how determined Nigerians are with the issue of Bitcoin and the entire crypto space. It's also going to be a plus for this forum creating a real local board for Nigeria. @Theymos, kindly take note.
2674  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will DOGE go back to sub $0.01 prices ever again? on: July 05, 2022, 02:30:14 PM
Investors are quite disappointed with how prices are falling at a fast pace. Some are beginning to believe crypto is dead (which we know that's not the case), while others see this as a huge buying opportunity to buy lots of coins at a discount.
That's correct. While many are bemoaning their losses, there are some who are raking in unbelievable profits by shorting available coins on margin trade and others are buying the dip through DCA technique. It simply goes to buttress the fact that even during a bull rally, not every investor benefits from it. As for Dogecoin, if it ever goes down to one cent or less, I'm going to load up on it. It's a risk I can take.

Meme coins or tokens have started to lose their prestige lately, people are no longer paying attention to them, including Dogecoin (DOGE) or Shiba Inu (SHIB).
Don't underrate those two coins you mentioned. They aren't mere cryptos and you should know it isn't for nothing that many exchanges list them. There must be something those exchanges see in them to enlist them. I believe that's the utility they have.
2675  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin is freedom money on: July 05, 2022, 01:53:05 PM
Fiat remains more important to most parts of the world than bitcoin, many bitcoiners have their bitcoin sitting in their wallets while they use fiat for their daily transactions
This is true. I continue to maintain that Bitcoin indirectly draws it's value from fiat, whether we want to admit it or not. Isn't that why whatever value Bitcoin is, is measured in fiat? Of course, it's. Whether we are exchanging it for goods and services or noting its price, we always have it in fiat equivalent. Even right here in this forum, BTC campaign participants get paid in dollar that's Bitcoin equivalent.

OP, I truly don't get what you mean by "freedom money". One would think that Bitcoin is randomly dropped into people's wallets by your assertion. I've been in this crypto industry since 2017 and I haven't experienced any such thing as free money. People get to work for the Bitcoin they earn. No free money anywhere. If there's, you should suspect that something is fishy.
2676  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can the price Hit back $50k this month? on: July 05, 2022, 01:03:42 PM
Bitcoin has given us so many instances over time of how it easily rises from "near death" to right its loses. However, I'm a bit skeptical it can get to your projection of $50k this July. I said that because before Bitcoin begins to soar again, price has to rally for some days to gain momentum on the support as a springboard. We are yet to see any rally showing exhausted bear strength. $50k is a bit too ambitious in July.
2677  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: When to take profit? on: July 05, 2022, 09:13:14 AM
When to take profit? When i learned trade usually the people.says x2 from intial investment but they also says it also depends on you.
When you think is enough you should take profit rather than cry later and dont be greed (one of biggest enemy for trader)
Yes, that's right. It depends on the investor. I've hedl a token that did over 700% but I refused to sell off completely. I only sold and took out my initial capital. I believe (even till date) that the token will do exceedingly well because of its usecase. Though it has dipped drastically now, I'm still optimistic. I think investors should aim to take profit once investments do a 100%. No matter how high one thinks price could go, it's better to take out one's capital first and then allow the rest roll. It's so that no matter what later becomes of that project, one would've been saved from liquidation.
2678  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Then what will happen to your account? on: July 05, 2022, 07:46:29 AM
Because if a community user of bitcointalk passed away. And is been know and reported to the community, another person can not make use of the account.
But of course, it's not all members' deaths that are reported here. The demise of Becky666 from our local was reported here because someone who knew him was a forum member. There are cases where accounts have become dormant for years and we can only suspect the inevitable could've happened to those users who probably maintained their privacy and never related with anyone outside this forum.

OP, you asked that question because you've it at the back of your mind the earnings users get here and you think that reward and earnings should be mellifluously passed on to another. That's a wrong mindset. Everyone should learn to fish by themselves. Treat this forum like you would treat any other social media site and you will see how faulty your question is.
2679  Economy / Speculation / Re: How do we spot the crypto bottom? on: July 04, 2022, 07:02:18 PM
~snipped~
Even though I know what you said is true, most investors with small capital can't afford that. Their fund is too low so they want to squeeze out every possible juice they can get to increase their profit margin.
Now, that's a recipe for missing out on the ride when it begins. We only get to find a bottom on hindsight, not while price is currently at that point. Come to think about it, no one has to buy one Bitcoin to become an investor. Just buy the fraction your cash can allow you. The idea of trying to maximize your entry price so as to get in at a ridiculous price level may not always work out. That's my point. If you like a project/token/coin, once price drops appreciably; get in. Don't care much if it will drop further. Just be consoled with the fact that there were others who bought at a much higher price than you're getting it.
2680  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin the most innovative technology on the internet on: July 04, 2022, 06:22:51 PM
So to this point Bitcoin can be said to be the global digital currency because Bitcoin has no restrictions and is not controlled by anyone.
Nah! That's not true. I don't even see it ever happening. My reason for that is because of certain encumbrances of Bitcoin like internet and literacy level. Bitcoin can't be embraced in areas or countries that lack those two major items and there are countries with low level or absent of those two. Again, you've to bear in mind that despite how high a value the British Pounds or Euros are, they still aren't more globally accepted than the US dollar. Quite true that Bitcoin is a phenomenal of the 21st century but it's not a global digital currency.
