1661  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Too late to start? on: March 09, 2023, 02:32:11 PM
So, as the title would suggest, is it too late to start investing on crypto?
There's a saying in my local parlance. I will translate it to the closest so as not to make it lose it's meaning – When a man wakes from his slumbers, that's his morning. You may have delayed getting into it but that doesn't mean it's too late for you. This is that proverbial morning for you. You can still achieve even more than those who started ahead of you if you set your mind and work towards it.
1662  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is it legal for our kids to learn trade? on: March 09, 2023, 01:10:15 PM
Given the age in question, I guess the kid will still be in high school. To that effect, it's not a great idea to get them hooked on trading. I think it's distraction to expose people of that age (10-15 years) to financial earnings, especially one that's online. I like to keep trading away from anyone in high school or below it because of the emotions it brings. It's okay if they're in tertiary institution, regardless of the age. Tertiary institutions are known for exposing people to the realities of life far ahead of other cadres.

1664  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 🐞 Dogecoin Will hit $1? on: March 07, 2023, 09:52:44 PM
Three years ago or so there was an online challenge to get Dogecoin to $1. That caught the attention of many crypto lovers and fans of Doge. Most people never gave it a chance as a meme token it's but it put up a great performance and did $0.7+ as its ATH. I believe it will fire up again once Elon Musk adopts it for payment on his bird (Twitter) app. Demand will rise, price will soar and hodlers will be all smiles when that happens. Doing $1 won't be much hurdle to cross.
1665  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Experience on Bitcoin on: March 07, 2023, 09:22:24 PM
During the last two bull runs that happened, I was blaming myself for why I didn't find a way to buy bitcoin when its value was still low in the market.
We tend to regret stuff like that on the hindsight, after seeing what we've missed. We feel satisfied opting out while the action is on until we look back and realize it was an opportunity that shouldn't have been missed. Now that we can take a guess at what the future portends, having learnt from history that every bull year has done better than the one before it, I want to believe you're positioning already for the next bull run that will likely happen in 2024/25? Don't miss this one for anything.
1666  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: XRP - yes or no? on: March 07, 2023, 08:38:34 PM
With a market cap of $21m already, how high can this really go if all goes well?
I thought I was the only one into crypto who isn't keen on having XRP. Going by the level of publicity and collaborations XRP had done in the past, it should've surpassed its price by now. Though I've to admit it had a good run first quarters of 2018 when it hit an ATH of $3+. I thought it would've continued with that show but it slumped to default setting. I guess its huge supply that runs into billion (about 100b) is a stumbling block to its price increase. It's basic economics that price tends to correspond with the forces of demand and supply. I see this play out in this industry more often than not.

Quote
Are you for or against XRP?
To be frank, I'm still nonchalant towards that coin.
1667  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why are investors so sceptical about Altcoins? on: March 07, 2023, 07:07:21 PM
Alternative coins are not dependable like bitcoin that's why many investors are very skeptical about putting in their money and in addition to proliferation of altcoins that has been circulated all over the exchanges platforms and this makes it difficult for investors to pinpoint which coin is dependable and reliable. And the high volatility of most of these altcoins is some that's worrisome
Altcoins are high risk and high reward. Those who invest in them don't stay long on them and would be satisfied to run with whatever profit they get out of it. Conservative investors don't like that. They want investments they can put their cash on and feel relaxed. The reason being that an altcoin that's in massive profit today can lose steam within that same day and all the profit made gone with the wind.

On my part, I like what gives me the excitement when it comes to investment. I also have a substantial amount in altcoin spread out than I've in Bitcoin.
1668  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: In the best interest of investors, Bounties shouldn't be paid in Tokens on: March 07, 2023, 06:09:20 PM
OP, your perspective has been canvassed in the past and it raised divergent views with some bounty hunters surprisely defending the position of projects to pay with their own tokens. My take on this is that most of these projects coming to the industry aren't financially buoyant and as such would depend on their own tokens to pay hunters. The sad thing about this is that there are some projects that also come to the industry with the sole intention of scamming hunters. These ones have no intention of paying at all. In the true sense of it these projects don't have any token to distribute. They run bounties with the aim of trapping investors and then disappear once the bounty is over. So, they scam both hunters and investors.

For me, I believe it will be better to make it a rule that the least that should be accepted for bounty reward should be tokens already listed and traded on the market if these new projects can't pay with stable coins.
1669  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Does Bounty really pay? on: March 07, 2023, 04:17:16 PM
This makes me to wonder if bounties really pay.
Not any more. In the past, bounties used to be the money spinner but that era seems to have gone now. Bounties are known now as cheats, both for investors and bounty hunters. It's that bad this day that people are getting advised to steer clear of them. Even here in this forum, activities of most companies that run bounties haven't been any better. Check the bounty section and you will find complaints regarding how they're managed and the inability of most of the projects to fulfil their promises of payment to hunters.
1670  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Villagers welcome bitcoin ideas. on: March 07, 2023, 02:16:31 PM
...he has heard of bitcoin changing lives and finances but is like lately the project wasn't doing great he guess. I say YES you're right
Well, to the best of my knowledge I think Bitcoin is doing fine at the moment. It may have dipped from its ATH of $68k+ to $22k+ now but it's still in a nice place of profit for those who started hodling in 2020.

Quote
I will pay you and I said that's fine sir.
Nice one for the chief. I takes a man of value to recognize and appreciate the value in others. For offering to pay you for your services shows he knows the value of education.

Quote
Chief actually show humility by fulfilling his promised of giving us $400 but we gladly turn it down because that's our community people, our home and our youths.
You did well by refusing the cash. That gesture alone has sold you beyond words and into a place of reputation among those men. You proved to them that money isn't everything. I hope the crowd that gathered there will take the teaching seriously and advance from there. If you're bringing any of them to this forum, please teach them how not to tie their wallets to one another so they don't get accused of being alts or from an account farm in the future.

I wish I had more merits to give...
1671  Other / Meta / Re: I'm New and Have a Question on: March 07, 2023, 01:04:16 PM
In my opinion the topic you have created here is the best place. You can get all kinds of help from legends here.
Leaving it here in Meta isn't appropriate. Basically, Meta is the board for discussing stuff directly related to this forum, its rules and regulations and the way it's run. Meta is a kind of "I need to know" section of this forum. To that effect, it's obvious OP's topic shouldn't belong here. User Blackboss_ has rightly pointed them to the board.
1672  Economy / Economics / Re: How to spend money determines whether you can avoid unnecessary problems on: March 07, 2023, 08:49:33 AM
a lot of peole complain that their income is not enough to cover their daily expenses so they can't save much money while...they spend seven bucks on a cup of coffee almost every morning, throw a hundred dollars on some gym membership cards but never show up training, have dinner with some random girl in an expensive restaurant, buy drinks in bars and waste hundreds of dollars...
Those who behave in such manner shouldn't be taken any seriously when they complain of financial lack. It's stupidity in itself to fret away one's meagre resources just to sound big and relevant.

Quote
I can not provide any statisitics but I am sure that many people have fallen in the trap and can not get out.  I hope you are not one of them.
So true. I once walked into a restaurant a few years ago to have lunch and a dude there ordered extra pieces of meat for his meal but didn't eat any. He ate the normal meal without picking the extra. Dude paid and left. I was really spooked (so to say) on the day. I saw it as an unnecessary childish behaviour. Till date I see such pattern and people seeking validation through it.
1673  Other / Meta / Re: what does your username mean and where did the idea come from? on: March 06, 2023, 07:30:24 PM
Nice one, OP. At the time I was making my entry into this forum after observing it for a few days, I thought of something that would be remarkable to me. What came to mind for me was to use the name of the environment where I lived and that was how Mpamaegbu was birthed. Basically, it was the name of where I lived. I've grown on that username to the point that I now have a type of sentimental attachment to it.
1674  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many crypto wallets do you own? on: March 06, 2023, 06:27:10 PM
Honestly, if I knew what I know now when I started I wouldn't own more than two different wallets. Owning more wallets isn't a status symbol in anyway and I like to keep it simple. Freewallet was one of the first wallets I had before I moved to Blockchain wallet, and then to more others. I later learnt that Freewallet went rogue. There was a day I tried logging in to assess the few cryptos I had on that wallet but couldn't. At that time there were many people who also complained of being locked out of their wallets. It was a common complaint then.
1675  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Never Trade on Emotions on: March 06, 2023, 02:34:16 PM
The major key to all these emotional stuff is to have a mastery of one's emotions while trading and not that one won't have it at all. This is because emotions are bound to come up whether we're losing of profiting. It has to be there. Otherwise we wouldn't be ambitious in life. Man's driving force is always his emotions. We just have to learn how to ride it to our benefit. That's all. As for any trader who would buy when the market is obviously selling, that's the hallmark of a noob. It's just a matter of time before they too learn.
1676  Economy / Economics / Re: How to increase capital investment on: March 06, 2023, 11:02:54 AM
OP, either you're trying to teach or ask questions; your post didn't make it clear as to what you're driving at. It sounds like you posted in a hurry.

~snipped~
Do you really buy money or you mean investing money to increase income and I think that is how it goes.
People can actually buy money. Buying other currency pairs with one's own local currency isn't that buying money? To make it look fanciful, they call it currency exchange. What about when someone exchanges their own local currency with the same local currency pair like what we have happening these past few days in Nigeria? Nigerians are withdrawing the same currency pair from POS and other channels that aren't the banks for higher rates.
1677  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and education on: March 06, 2023, 07:47:23 AM
My question is can someone who is not well educated (secondary school graduate) understand the statistics of bitcoin investment or Bitcoin trading?
By saying "well educated", that means the person has a little form of education to start with. With little education of knowing how to read and write, anyone can venture into anything they're ambitious to do. What matters is the willingness to learn new things. Most of us here didn't have an iota of idea what Bitcoin was until we stumbled on this forum. I know a few who now teach others. So, start by learning the basic stuff about Bitcoin and you will be surprised how much more you will get exposed to. Don't let your lack of a tertiary education debar you from going into Bitcoin investment.
1678  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Emotion and Trade? on: March 05, 2023, 06:11:15 PM
I guess for someone to call him or her self a trader you need to control your emotions right,
Nope. That's not how it should be viewed. For someone to call himself a trader he must be seen to have traded, made profit from that and then be able to withdraw and spend it in real life. That's the way I judge it. No one should term himself a trader if he hasn't been able to achieve all that.

Quote
*What else is required for such a person to control,is it still his or her emotions or what next?
We can't jettison the importance of emotional control when it comes to trading. However, that's not all there's to trading. Learn the set skills for trading first. Add a mastery of money management and risk evaluation to it. Then bring in emotional control and you will have a perfect setup.
1679  Economy / Economics / Re: Money is for the important things on: March 05, 2023, 04:52:48 PM
Money isn't useful in itself except when put to use. It really doesn't matter how much one has if one can't affect the lives of those around one. My mindset is whatever money I spend on myself is what should be spent. There's nothing like over spending or extravagant life for me.

There is one attitude about  money that I have discovered in myself recently.
I no longer think much about myself with my money. What I think is family friends and relatives.
That's the mindset of a giver. There's nothing wrong with that. Don't be discouraged doing it but just don't overdo it. There are those who are going to mistake your generosity for being too rich or trying to show off. Don't lose focus on that which gives you pleasure whenever you do it.
1680  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: African government against or for crypto?? on: March 05, 2023, 03:01:09 PM
1#Nigeria: Nigeria has the greatest percentage of cryptocurrency owners in Africa, with over 10-22 million users, 10% of whom own several cryptocurrencies. It is one of the leading nations promoting cryptocurrency in Africa.
Notwithstanding the CBN's restriction, young people between the ages of 18 and 66 continue to engage in cryptocurrency. Most Nigerians now possess more cryptocurrencies than fiat money "Naira" due to the recent significant devaluation of the Nigerian currency.
Well, I can speak for myself. To that I say everything you said there is correct, including owing more cryptocurrency value than fiat. I hardly keep fiat this day.

Concerning whether African governments are in support of cryptocurrency or not, it's obvious they aren't. Cryptocurrency has a kind of liberation effect on citizens of this continent from financial slavery and dependence on jobs that aren't even available. A lot of citizens in Nigeria who are into cryptocurrency are quitting their paid jobs and getting self employed.

Financial independence is a big challenge to bad leadership. This is telling on the selfish political leaders in Nigeria. They don't like something like that. It makes them think they're losing grip on the citizens.

We saw that happened during the #endsars protest in 2020. The Buhari administration was completely at lost with what to do to curb that demonstration until it came up with massacre of protesters. The aftermath of that protest was what gave birth to the CBN ban on crypto activities in the country. That ban seems to be of no effect anymore as we've continued to trade it till date.
