2661  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [SALES] Bitcoin Hourglass 1oz Fine Silver Coin[150 Limited editions] on: June 03, 2022, 06:11:52 AM
beautiful coin but damn way out of my price range at nearly 9-10 times spot price.

I don't think you can really compare those with bullion.  I would say it is more akin to collector coins, which are usually closer to 100$/coins.

I made no comparison - simply stated its 9-10 times spot - which is outside of my comfort zone for a 1 oz coin - $100 I would have gotten one for that range, no questions asked.

Me too, I couldnt stretch to get one of these at $210, they are absolutely fabulous looking
designs, very bling as usual from MrCryptHodl.

^
I dont understand why some limited edition collectibles take forever to sell, even ones
which are affordable like this lucky fool?

Anyway MoparMiningLLC still has my coin, I might buy another over the weekend before
the first is shipped.

Maybe the thread needs some better pics to entice more buyers
2663  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Buying a house with 100% Bitcoin is possible in Portugal on: June 02, 2022, 10:47:12 PM
It looks like Portugal is standing out in bitcoin adoption and usage as currency, congratulations. As I see, there is a decent number of offers disponible at the real estate website displaying properties for sale.

Portugal has been Bitcoin friendly for a while now. For residents they dont collect
capital gains tax on Bitcoin transactions either.

I  never understood how bitcoin can be used in large scale buyings like these.the coin itself is not stable and highly volatile and although this may be fun and all in a bull market but in the bear case as we stand today that BTC you recieved can lose 1/2% of its value in a day.For 3btc + transactions this is alot of money and an unessecary risk taken by the sellr.

I don't think btc was supposed to be used like there, not unless it got severly regulated or backed more.

Bitcoin amounts dont fluctuate, its the FIAT value which fluctuates. Everyone knows
Bitcoin is going one way but you have to look to the future.

If the buyer is happy to spend Bitcoin in a bear market the seller should be prepared to
HODL until the bull market.
2664  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Rugby] Union | League // Super|6s|7s|Pro14 | Cups & Tours | Olympics Touch..... on: June 02, 2022, 12:18:38 PM
Yea I'll do a few bets later on for the NRL, I missed todays game Titans 6 - 32 Cowboys,
business as usual for the Cowboys.

...:::Edit:::...
I put two bets on this morning before the Panthers beat the Bulldogs 30-18 and I have
the Roosters to beat the Raiders

Rugby Union

The quarter finals of the United Rugby Championship starts tomorrow so I'll be
doing a few bets there also.

Offhand I'm thinking Leinster to beat Glasgow Warriors and the DHL Stormers to
beat Edinburgh.

...:::Edit:::...
I'm actually going with one bet in the URC, the Stormers to beat Edinburgh the odds on
Leinster are way too low.

2665  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Paid the birth fee using bitcoin at the clinic, by accident. on: June 02, 2022, 11:57:44 AM
Congratulations mate. But for security and privacy reasons, if I were you I'd edit out your son's name and birth date on your post. This might seem too overly paranoid but I wouldn't take my chances.

Yea I agree with mk4, just leave his birth name if you want but remove the family name

Anyway BIG congratulations to you, your wife and your baby boy bitzizzix . What a great
story and a big coincidence surrounding your Bitcoin payment experience.

Thats a perfect example of how and what using Bitcoin is all about, well done.
2666  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: June 01, 2022, 10:24:09 PM

Cilic went into semi-final, marking three matches in row in this QF, that I have completely missed (expected all favorites to go through, is that hard enough)
will Rune finish it off, with all bigger odds to go through? not sure

Ruud has a great chance to reach final, although Cilic knows how to play GS matches, and it will be more than interesting whoever goes on him into SF

Cilic got lucky man, the spur of points in the 5th set tiebreaker was so unlucky for Rublev
He played so well, just to end up having bad luck in the tie-breaker  Cry

Whoever Cilic gets in SF, it's going to be his last match for sure. The guy pisses me off too, because of how long he takes to serve. I hope he gets a game penalty in SF lol

Cilic has been quite remarkable in RG so far, to continue his good form into the match
today to beat Rublev is very different to how I normally see him. He took his chances in
the 5th set tiebreak and landed his shots.

I dont think he takes any longer than most players on serve, Nadal yesterday was
taking 28 seconds regularly from when the score was called while Djokovic was around
the 20 seconds.
2667  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Before Bitcoin education, teach your children cyber security education. on: June 01, 2022, 06:21:12 PM
It's actually amazing that children as young as 10 could in fact learn the basics of digital and cyber security without directly teaching them. Their high level of direct exposure to the digital world teaches them that. They have computer subjects at school. They use advanced technologies every hour of the day. Their Roblox experience, for example, could teach them hacking and theft 101. Moreover, their vast Facebook experience could make them very much aware of dummy accounts and posers and scams and phishing and whatnot.

Sometimes, there is this misconception, which is probably brought by generation gap, which makes older people assume that young children need to be thoroughly lectured on the security implications of the digital age when in fact these youngsters are more advanced than them and that safe exploration on social media and the internet is already second nature to them.

I agree, I think Security and Cyber Security are needed prior to
learning about Bitcoin. They learn about computers at school at
a very early age I think in todays world its important for parents
to suppliment the teachings from school, we do it with other topics.

Where I am kids as young as 13 have smartphones and carry them
always, parents see it as a security feature for their kids so yea kids
are exposed to being online from an early age, we made sure our
youngster had the information we had when she got her first smartphone,
but we made sure it wasnt a lecture.

I would rather tell them about security than leaving it up to someone else
they know or not know.
2668  Economy / Economics / Re: Food crisis coming? What's wrong about it? It could be good on: June 01, 2022, 06:04:13 PM
I've read a few articles explaining that a food crisis is coming, I want to tell you something about it. There will be no food crisis for me.
Price of pasta, price of cooking oil, rice or meat will increase 20%? 30%?

That's all right. I don't care much. I can handle it, just like most people in developed countries. We don't spend much on food, increasing that budget by a third is perfectly fine.

The problem will be with the poor countries, but I wonder: is it a problem, or a solution?

There were 100 millions people living in Africa in 1900. Now, there are over 1,500 millions people there. I know that some people live a in a fantasy world thinking that there will be food, jobs, modern housing and all creature comforts for every human, but that won't happen. We live in a finite world, and the population just cannot grow without limit. Number one rule of the world has always been the survival of the fittest...

Depends. If you can afford the expensive food prices, then it makes no difference for you probably. For the rest of the people, it will be a nightmare. One thing is for sure, the world is way too crowded. If the expensive food prices will solve this problem, so be it. If it is going to be the vaccines, I am OK with that too. Whatever it takes to fix the world. Otherwise rich or poor, we are all going to go insane. We simply don't need any more people. There isn't enough resources.

Yea whatever about being able to pay inflated prices for food its
another thing actually finding the food in the first place. A food
crisis doesnt necessarily mean higher prices it can also be shortages.

The worst hit will indeed be the poorer countries who rely on
food importation. Its crazy how we have become accustomed to
heading to the supermarket and nowing that what we want will
be there every time. If the supply chains are interrupted there is
actually only 3 days worth of food in the average supermarket,
after that what happens?

@Hydrogen has kind of touched on sopmething which is very important
and that is that humans have lost touch with mother Earth, the
majority of people dont realise where their food comes from and what
it contains. Personally I think its wrong that the world in general
has to be supplied with grain by a hand full of countries and this is
the price we pay for it IMO.
2669  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: June 01, 2022, 06:15:07 AM
yes there were plenty of unforced errors, double faults, near misses, line calls and
questions over service time but there was some fantastic shot making and winners
on both sides but the king of clay notched up another win over Djokovic.

Next up now is Zverev but there is a two day break so there shouldnt be a question
over tiredness or fatigue and again as John McEnroe said at the start of the match yesterday
when asked who he fancied for the win he said "Its hard to bet against Nadal on clay"
2670  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: May 31, 2022, 09:35:25 PM
Nadal's biggest fear has been swept away today, the young Spaniard lost to Zverev. Nadal will be very happy about that. The Spaniard recently lost to Alcaraz, but the pressure on Roland Garros has become too much for him. Now the road to the title seems open for Nadal. A clinch with Djokovic is still a possibility.

He has more immediate things to think about, just gone into the 3rd set with over
2hrs 30mins gone and one set each. Nadal has started each set breaking Djokovic
but its still even enough.

I'm not sure Alcaraz was his biggest fear, I would say this current match was in his
sights quite early on in the tournament when he realised they were on the same side
of the draw, the same for Djokovic, he would have seen this match up coming.
2671  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: May 31, 2022, 06:38:57 PM
We are on opposite sides of that Medvedev-Cilic match. I have a bet on over games, Čilić +6.5, Čilić to win and Čilić to win 3:1. As I said before Medvedev on clay had never been even competent player. Maybe he changed something this season but I am trusting in his usual clay results.

Fair play for this, well spotted. I did see Medvedev struggle a lot on clay - but it isn't the ideal surface for Čilić as well. I always expect elite players to be able to at least decently perform on all surfaces and in Medvedev's case it is still not happening. He breezed through the first 3 matches though - so I expected a bit more.

A nice opportunity is opening up now for Čilić - he might actually reach the final.

No matter what, I still expected Medvedev to win or at least a much more uncertain match.
Cilic has been in crisis for a very long time and he played badly.
Honestly, I expected that his chance for a good result could be Wimbledon and I really didn't expect him to play so well in Paris.
So far he has won the US Open and played in the finals of Australia and Wimbledon, but he has never played so well in Paris, so this result is really a surprise to me.
Cilic in the final? What a story that would be  Grin

It's going to be Cilic vs Rublev first, do you reckon that Cilic will have a chance against Rublev?

The Nadal vs Djokovic match is kinda late on my timezone, too bad I won't able to watch it. Nadal though wanted the match much earlier as he doesn't want to play obviously t oo late with a lot of lights around it.

In the women's, Leylah Fernandez run has ended as he was beaten by Trevisan.

I have my popcorn ready for this 59th meeting of these two legends of the game.

Its true the evening session is not Nadal's preferred time and this as has been discussed
is probably tilted in Djokovic's favour. I have a +6.5 handicap bet on Nadal. Just listening
to McEnroe, he says its hard to bet against Nadal on clay....

Pity about Fernandez but Trevisan is having a mighty run.

Zverev I believe had a fantastic performance today to beat Alcaraz in 4 sets, I just saw the 4th
set tie break.
2672  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: May 31, 2022, 06:04:17 AM
And this destruction that Medvedev suffered from Cilic just now is the reason why nobody should ever place a single cent on Medvedev when playing surface is clay Smiley Cilic is nothing more than solid clay player and he looked like top 3 in the world against Medvedev.

Hope some of you cashed in on this, I have been preaching about it for whole day. Not all my tickets passed but most of them did and here are the two that are multi so a bit more interesting to share.

Yup i had Cilic on handicap +6.5 more because its Cilic and he can have really
mediocre days than Medvedev not performing well on clay. Anyway yes Cilic did
actually look like a top 3 player. He meets Rublev next so in my mind thats a very
unpredictable outcome.

Personally, I am much more surprised by Tsitsipas' loss than Medvedev's loss. It's just that everyone has known for a long time and it's clear that the coating on Roland Garros is not the most favorite for Medvedev, plus the factor of the recently undergone surgery should have done their job and there was only a question when it would happen. Another question is Tsitsipas, who knows and knows how to play in Paris, where he reached the final last season. However, a four-hour battle with a player ranked 134th in the ranking already suggested some thoughts. By the way, Tsitsipas did not complain about his health after the match and on the contrary said that he physically felt perfect.
It was a surprise and I did not expect Tsitsi to lose but if you check my tickets above you will see I had bets on Rune to take a set and cover handicap.

This match was a different case, here we had both players that are playing great on clay. Don't know if you guys have seen Rune play before but he has the game to outgun anybody on clay. His problem is consistency and I thought that will be enough for more experienced Tsitsi to prevail in the end.

Regarding matches today, I was leaning towards Nadal since I am always searching for value and odds of 2,7 on Nadal on clay seem like free money. But after thinking about it a bit more, I don't think he has a chance if he is not at least 90% of his best and it seems to me he is far from that. At the moment I am leaning towards Djoko handi. This Nadal will destroy Djoko in any set while opposite can happen.

Interestingly Rune played junior doubles with Alcaraz! and like Alcaraz he has a big game,
hopefully the inconsistancies will be ironed out but yea the win over Tsitsipas was great,
I watched the highlights before Cilic/Medvedev.

A 1.35 in play bet looked very appealing on Tsitsipas in the second set but I didnt take it.....
luckily! Rune beating him 3 sets to 1 has to be the biggest upset in the tournament, well
done to him.

Ruud beat Hurcacz today to set up an all scandinavian quarter final.....Ruud v Rune

And Sinner is through too, Rublev retired from what I'm not sure yet but its great to see
Sinner in the quarters.

Ah just saw it was Sinner who retired, thats dissapointing.
2674  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: May 30, 2022, 01:28:44 PM
Aliassime is a decent player - but I did not expect he'd give Nadal so many problems.
Đoković looked better so far in the tournament - and is portrayed as a big favorite by the bookies in his forthcoming game against Nadal.

Having the opportunity to bet on Nadal with 2.70 odds is something that I won't miss for sure - I feel it will be more of a 50-50 duel.

Čilić playing Medvedev today - I think a game handicap on Medvedev seems like a decent bet.
Nadal @2.7 in RG against anybody is a good bet. I am just a bit afraid that he is nursing a small injury and he is a player that doesn't forfeit.

Two top players with question marks over them, I have gone with a +7.5 on Cilic,
Medvedev just might survive this one, its funny that we havent talked about him
until now when the numbers have thinned and the top seeds remain.

Nadal v Djokovic, thats hard to call, this is the battle of 21 GS' and 20 GS', drawing
level or increasing the distance or neither of the two!
2675  Economy / Economics / Re: Should we embrace a cashless policy?? on: May 30, 2022, 11:16:20 AM
I've seen countries with excessive inflation adopting such techniques in order to avoid carrying hundreds of bills just to spend a few dollars worth of items (see Venezuela's case). I've also resorted into not carrying too much cash on me and mostly use my cards (either credit or debit). However, I'm rarely using them for small amounts of a few euros.

Approximately a month ago, I was in Poland for vacation and was dumbfounded seeing smaller vendors owning wireless terminals, accepting payments as small as a few cents, without any issues.

Honestly, I like not having to hold cash for transactions, in Poland, I didn't even spend a single euro which wasn't with card.

Thats contactless card payments, From the diagram below its worldwide.

https://suitsmecard.com/blog/contactless-limits-around-the-world

~snip~

With this form of payment its makes using credit and debit cards very convenient for us
to use but all the transactions can be traced. I see it here all the time, cash is being used less
and less.

So while societies are unknown to themselves adopting a cashless environment the vast majority
dont realise what they are giving up by abandoning cash and less realise the autonomy Bitcoin offers.

While I'm not fond of having my transactions traced, it's pretty much inevitable, thus, I don't actually bother. Nowadays, all our moves can be traced due to digitalisation. Our phones is one of the most traceable tools, which even tracks and keeps a record of your location history. We're not living in the 80s anymore, whether we like it or not, we can't keep everything private anymore.

I'm not too fond of the traceability either, It really comes down to convenience and how
we have been shuffled along to this point of using predominantly cards. For privacy
in the FIAT world, cash is the way to go.

If more and more people realise this they will have greater privacy. Bitcoin obviously has
more benefits when it comes to wealth portability and transferability.

Smartphones for sure can be a concern, thats another discussion
2676  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How often do you transact in the real world with your bitcoin or digital money? on: May 30, 2022, 06:23:13 AM
The OP is very fortunate to have many friends who accept Bitcoin and Altcoins as payment.

What I buy with Bitcoin is subscriptions to an e-mail provider, my web domain subscription
and the hosting of it too.

I also buy items from the Collectibles section of the forum from time to time always with
Bitcoin the odd time maybe paypal

Regarding day to day items thats FIAT by card very rarely cash.

2677  Economy / Economics / Re: World has just ten weeks' worth of wheat left after Ukraine war on: May 29, 2022, 09:08:33 PM
I think if wheat becomes too expensive there are a lot of other types of grains that can be used to replace it that can be produced elsewhere or are already produced in abundance such as oat, barley and rice (these can be milled).
That's true -the war has affected the whole world. Mainly through fuel and secondly through wheat. Although Pakistan is an agricultural country. The wheat prices has already increased and people are in trouble because of fuel and wheat both.
AH _ tough time!
Where I am from is a big agriculture nation as well and even with that the prices has soared. The main reason why a nation may have enough wheat or food for their citizens and yet still increase the price is the fact that the other nations that do not have that much food, can't self-sustain, pay a premium price for them, and our nations who have enough, end up selling it to them for more money.

If we kept all of our produce to ourselves, we could feed each other without paying anything, I mean individually you would, but the money would stay in the nation. Instead, farmers and mainly agri-companies end up getting them and selling to other nations and hence the prices soar for us too.

I am also in a big agricultural country but its predominantly livestock which
the land is used for. The government here was appealing to farmers to product more
grains this year but I not sure its going to work because a lot of farmers dont have the machinery.

Its crazy how something as simple as grain has been monopolised by a few countries
and now it looks like we are going to suffer from it. so many countries have had the potential
to produce enough staples for domestic use.

^ Yeah, very interesting that L. Fernandez has gone in the 4th round already while a lot of ranked ladies are falling.

Nadal vs FAA, and Alcaraz vs Khachanov. Just put a parlay on this game, +7.5 on FAA and KK +8.5 for a good 3.17 odds. I'm thinking that this could be a 3 set victory for either Nadal or Alcaraz, but maybe it will be close that the final score can be somewhat covered by FAA and KK.

Well Fernandez won her match against Anisimova, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3, seems like a comfortable
win, she goes now to the Quarter Finals now against Trevisan. I bet on a 5.5 handicap
on Fernandez and 30 seconds later I just bet on a straight win, so all good.

Thats an interesting parlay both bets on handicap. I too have Felix AA and Khachanov
on handicaps but not on parlay, I never think to do it like that !

I'm two from three so far this round with the Panthers trouncing the Cowboys.  I actually thought with the home town advantage plus various Panther's players under a cloud, that the Cowboys would get up.

Quote
Melbourne Storm - Manly Sea Eagles Money Line Melbourne Storm @ 1.10 Taken Amount: 0.10 mBTC Possible Payout: 0.11 mBTC
Penrith Panthers - North Queensland Cowboys Money Line North Queensland Cowboys @ 3.69 Taken Amount: 0.10 mBTC Possible Payout: 0.369 mBTC
Brisbane Broncos - Gold Coast Titans Money Line Brisbane Broncos @ 1.34 Taken Amount: 0.10 mBTC Possible Payout: 0.134 mBTC

The Broncos had their own trouble prior to kickoff with one of their own team speaking out about the team and players.  By half time the Broncos were trailing by twenty plus points then piled on the points to win.

The Reds are expected to face off against the Crusaders next week ahead of the finals (after their match tonight - not sure what the final score was, I'll check in the morning)

I think your other bets Timelord have won too, Knights, Eels, Rabbitohs and Dragons!

Rugby Union

This coming Saturday the 28th is set for the European Champions Cup
final between Leinster and La Rochelle.

Leinster are big favourites with the bookies, on Rollbit the odds are
Leinster 1.18 to 5.2 La Rochelle.

Well the final yesterday went the way of La Rochelle. By the looks of it they came from
behind in the last minute with a try to overtake Leinster who led for the game up to that.

21-24

https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2022/may/28/leinster-la-rochelle-european-champions-cup-final-rugby-union-match-report

I was checking the scoreline on and off and thought Leinster would win it.

There are a lot of people in Ireland who are happy the French side won because
of the fact that Ronan O'Gara is the head coach and played club Rugby for Minster
and also the rivalry between Leinster and all the other provinces, Munster, Ulster and Connacht.
