Happy new year Timelord! I am 2 from 2 so far this round. Big win with Glasgow Warriors, they were trailing at half time but absolutely blew Edinburgh away in the second half. Rugby Union
Edinburgh v Glasgow Warriors - Glasgow Warriors to win again this time away from home @ 3.35
Zebre v Benetton - Benetton to win @ 1.26
The only way to back Leinster is on + or - points but Connacht can be tricky for them, last time out Connacht held them to 10 points but that was a home match for Connacht.

Theoretically the way I look at it is that Nadal and Djokovic have pretty much developed their game to the max whereas the younger generation and in particular Alcaraz are still developing.
Could be, we are already in 2022 era, so most likely this old guard will have to retire because they have max their potential already. To the point that when they tried, their body is no longer responding to them, the way we see on Federer and then it starts to deteriorate, wear and tear on this body caught up with the. But the good news is that we have a new set of players going to take over from them. I would like to think that Alcaraz in 2023 will be much better than 2022 and should pose more of a threat to everyone including Djokovic.
I agree, by leaps and bounds, sure in 2022 he had a break out run, but Alcaraz would dominate next year just like Djokovic did when he was younger. So it's good to see the old and the young generations fighting it out in any of the Grand Slams for next year. That is something to really look forward to. The older generation and the next generation are playing at a better level than they did 10 years ago. The older players are losing their energy more slowly than the players 10 years ago. I always find it interesting to see how a new generation grows up and how the older players slowly understand that their time is over. We only have the last 2 standing, Federer has retired and it seems that Rafa might be the next one, his body is also not doing good specially in the surface that he specialized because it really put a lot of stress. So it might just be Djokovic against all new comers, he could be good for at least 2 years to battle and fought against the young generations lead by Alcaraz. So definitely next year will be an litmus test for them against Djokovic and to some extend Nadal if he can still play at clay. @kemarit I strongly believe that Nadal and Djokovic will both play at least for one more year, but in 2024 either one of them or both could possibly call it quits as their bodies are barely keeping up these days. Furthermore I’m keen to see who’ll be the long term champion, because so far I don’t see any consistency in the current set of player’s and which makes me wonder if the records set by these 3 will ever be broken?. Djokovic is honestly in much better shape then Nadal is. Djokovic is on his diets and his body can recover much faster and dosent have any injuries at all. While Nadals foot injury is fatal for him . So i think Djokovic can play for 3-4 years more while Nadal has maybe even just this year left. Yes I agree that Djokovic is in better shape than Nadal. We could see Nadal retire sooner than Djokovic and currently in the shape Djokovic is in he will be very competitive for a number of years yet. Personally I cannot see Nadal competing for more than 2 years. Nadal will be 37 next year and Djokovic will be 36, he doesn't really have much time left but unlike Nadal he doesn't carry any injuries apart from the "mysterious" ones he picks up mid match. On Nadal, he was beaten today in the United Cup by Norrie in 3 sets. I was actually going to bet on Nadal for this match but I forgot to place my bet....luckily.

Rugby Union
Round 11 of the URC kicks off today. I'm going with 4 bets this week.
Edinburgh v Glasgow Warriors - Glasgow Warriors to win again this time away from home @ 3.35 - it's a tough one but looking at the results for each so far this season, Glasgow have better.
Zebre v Benetton - Benetton to win @ 1.26
Cardiff v Ospreys - Cardiff to win @ 1.42
Ulster v Munster - Ulster to win @ 1.41
So I'm going for two away and 2 home wins.

I am not easily concerned about Djokovic's health. And corona now also seems to have largely disappeared from the face of the earth. This means that we no longer have to work with certain vaccinations. That would be very beneficial for Djokovic, as I don't think he will be vaccinated again. So if Corona comes back, we can be pretty sure that Djokovic will be banned from certain tournaments again. Own choice and own responsibility of course. But he has an exemplary role and has made quite a mess.
Wasn't Djokovic banned from attending the Australian Open for atleast 2023 season? Thought I seen him mentioning at a press conference earlier today talking about playing in this one. But he can't appeal with the ATP to attend and play at a tournament that he has been previously banned from could he? He was barred from entering the country until 2025 after being deported this year but back in November I think that order was reversed and he is allowed back for the 2023 season. I recon there will be mixed reaction to this closer to the tournament, I would say this has been missed by a lot of Tennis enthusiasts.

Is there really a risk though?
I mean Bitcoin pretty much since 2010 has been on an upwards trajectory, it's important though to zoom out but we all know about it's qualities and the opportunities.
I recon in 5 to 10 years we will look back and wonder why we didn't sell everything to buy ?
The risk is usually in human behavior. The combination between people investing money they don't afford to lose and an unexpected new leg down for the price, maybe with some FUD as seasoning, is usually so bad it tends to end with selling at lower price than the coins were bought and with a grudge against bitcoin and bitcoiners. Such people will most probably never admit they've made a mistake, instead will call bitcoin a scam. At least this is how I see these things... Yea I agree with that, it makes sense. That advice is a bit overused at this point and I think the line between what we can afford to lose gets more blurry to many. But we should always have a plan when investing into any asset, and this plan should involve growing our income stream, if we do not have much left over to spare. The major mistake you would make is trying to use bitcoin as a means to get rich. It doesn't exactly work that way, and you could as easily lose out the amounts you invested into it. Focus on growing skills which are in demand and getting paid for your services; you can then choose what percent of your income goes to Bitcoin (and any other investment) and which goes into your savings. Is there really a risk though?
Yes it is. If you invest amounts you might need at a not too distant future, there's no guarantee that you would be in profit at the exact time you need it and could be forced to sell at a loss. yea that makes sense too. I wonder how many people instead have the belief in Bitcoin and are buying by making cuts elsewhere while not having the disposable income they can afford to lose?

Two questions: 1. Were you aware of this simple fact? - If yes, have you ever read a Satoshi post before? 2. Did you ever take a look at the Bitcoin whitepaper? - If not, will you do so now?
Thanks for the reminder K! Yes I was aware of the fact that Satoshi had created the forum and had posted here, I had forgot though that the profile number was 3. I am hosting the White paper on my website along with the Bitcoin node software, (which I have to update) I just find it odd that there is no direct link on the forum page that takes you to their copy of the Bitcoin whitepaper. It wouldn't take too much effort to place a link at the bottom of the page (@PowerGlove where are you? ) ...and a link to Satoshi's profile, so with two clicks anyone can get to the posts list.

The indirect successor of the Hopman Cup in Australia starts at Thursday. Some interesting players starts at the United Cup and use this tournament as preparation for the Australian Open. One of them is Alexander Zverev who will be back in action after his injury. Furthermore, Kyrgios will be there, who of course, as an Australian, cannot be missed. His first match will be against Norrie.
It is going to be exciting to watch how Kyrgios performs during the tournament. There is no doubt that the players will use this as a warm-up for the Australian Open. Alexander Zverev is going to be very determined to prove that he is still the number one player in the world after suffering that injury. I am looking forward to seeing him perform well at the Hopman Cup next season. Kyrgios is expected to win his first match against Norrie, according to my predictions. Take a look at my previous post it renders your predictions void!
The first set of matches have started, USA v CZE. USA with Fritz and Keys win 2-0. This is an interesting tournament being a mixed gender team event. Having a quick look at the betting format on Rollbit, it looks like there are bets possible on country v country and on the players themselves.

I haven't paid too much attention to the United Cup before. It seems like the players play in teams per country. Kyrgios was indeed set to play but has pulled out, which is a bit of a shocker I think. Everyone knows he doesn't play a full season, he skips tournaments but was expected to play this as it's a home tournament. https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2022/dec/28/nick-kyrgios-stuns-united-cup-teammates-by-withdrawing-at-11th-hourWorld No 22 Kyrgios was expected to spearhead the Australian team, facing Great Britain’s Cameron Norrie in Sydney on Thursday night, but withdrew from the mixed-gender tournament just before Wednesday’s scheduled press conference.
Kyrgios was also due to play Rafael Nadal in the most eagerly anticipated match-up of the event when Australia meet Spain next week.

I enjoy gambling here and there, a few bets per week but it certainly doesn't affect me to the extent where I have to place bets.
The idea of the "responsible gambling" feature is interesting. I'm trying to understand how an addict is supposed to control themselves with that feature but I can imagine it does offer a means of control.

2022 has not been a bad year for me, I have not been exposed to the negative happenings with exchanges because I only use exchanges for exchanging. I was a user of Blockfi, I was lending some Bitcoin, Litecoin and Ethereum but when the interest rates reduced earlier in the year I withdrew everything bar some dust.
2023 in the short to medium term I suspect will be a continuation of 2022, there could be some movements to trap some bulls but the second half of the year will see some real action as we approach the big event in 2024.

2023 will be even better for Alcaraz. Born after 2000 and reaching the No.1 position is really big thing in Tennis. When we talk of the experience from Djokovic, he have got almost double the years of Alcaraz age. So, the matches will be between the experience and the young ones. For now one match is being faced by the two. So, upcoming matches between them will have big expectation. I'm expecting 2023 to be a really exciting season for tennis, a lot of players will be back and probably play more than they did in 2022, we didn't see a lot from Alexander Zverev and Dominik thiem who were on fire before, injuries and the pandemic really ruined it for them, but I'm expecting them to get back strong next yea for sure. Yea it should be a massive year with things more or less back to normal and big players back in action again, Djokovic unrestricted, Zverev and Thiem, Nadal should be fresh. Hard court season starts next week in Adelaide Australia ending on the 8th and the first GS of the season starting on the 16th. Can't wait!

Mr. Friedman saw how big the internet had become, and that we didn't need the government any longer to tell us what is what. We can find out information on our own. Obviously, the next step is creating a new currency that would work without their control as well. It was only a matter of time before someone would attempt it. Satoshi wasn't the only one with the vision of creating a global digital currency, but he seems to have been the quickest to develop something that really works and is attractive for the end-users on a greater scale.
Indeed, Satoshi had to have been influenced by lots of people, way of thinking and previous projects and the concepts behind them. Milton Friedman must have been one of them. He certainly had all the credentials. Credit can go to these people who laid the foundations for Satoshi, but to be able to build on these ideas with the vision of Bitcoin and bring it to life deserves greater credit. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milton_FriedmanMilton Friedman (/ˈfriːdmən/ (listen); July 31, 1912 – November 16, 2006) was an American economist and statistician who received the 1976 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences for his research on consumption analysis, monetary history and theory and the complexity of stabilization policy.
Anyone interested in reading a bit about the Cypherpunks who also certainly influenced Satoshi can visit an old thread of mine below > https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5217348.msg53597623#msg53597623

We are pretty much half way through the IRC tournament with round 10 completed over the Christmas break. And I am 3 from 5 from that round. Leinster just about held on to win away to Munster 19-20, and they still remain unbeaten this season. Also Cardiff travelled to play the Dragons and won there. Friday 23rd South Africa - Lions 5th to beat the Sharks 10th
Scotland - Edinburgh 6th to beat Glasgow Warriors 9th
Saturday 24th Italy - Benetton 12th to beat Zebre 16th
Monday 26th Wales - Cardiff 7th to beat the Dragons 13th
Ireland - Leinster 1st to beat Munster 8th
This is how the top 5 are looking today:

It's actually quite important to "shop local", it creates local employment and maintains the service which is important because it helps to maintain a sense of community for local people.
We cannot get everything locally but we should not buy everything online either.
We buy all our fruit, veg and meat from local growers and farmers, we pay a little extra for this but we want to support local.

The only difference and the most important element that you forgot to consider was Bitcoin price already suffer too much down fall since the Tera Luna failure and the recent FTX bankruptcy that happened last November. All the selling pressure is already done before December that makes the current month a very nuetral in preparation for next year big move in the price.
You should check the condition of Bitcoin market before December on those previous years that you mention before you compared it to the current situation of the crypto market.
But you forget one thing that, all the previous bitcoin slumps, bitcoin has never experienced conditions like war, crisis, extreme inflationary economy. So expecting bitcoin to rise again in 2023 is not easy, I don't believe bitcoin will easily rise in 2023 without any catalyst. And in the current market, apart from Fuds and Fuds, we don't have any good news. These are good points, war, inflation, the thread of power and food shortages all make for an unpredictable short to middle term. While historically the markets have reacted positively to the incoming halving and the spin of the 4 year cycles it's hard to make predictions based on them. We may have to fast forward to the second half of 2023 to start getting positivity in the markets. will war and inflation be more powerful than the allure of the Bitcoin halving?
