1801  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is gambling unethical? on: November 22, 2022, 12:43:19 PM
I think the OP is suffering from a religious dilemma rather than ethics.

If a religion forbids gambling and the member of that religion continues to do it, they
have to come to terms with what they are doing.

The way I see religion v gambling is as a member of a religion you are obligated or forced
to follow rules, gambling is a choice.

~snip

Who are going to be his main competitors for each grand slam? Alcaraz, Medvedev, Nadal,
Rune . . . anyone else?

looking at those mentioned, Alcaraz is only one that can disrupt him next year, if he is fit
Medvedev does not stand a chance, Rune won was accidental, and Nadal is pretty close to career end (probably looking to one more RG and nothing more)

from not mentioned, I would count on Zverev, when he is back playing, others are pointing that tennis is a bit in crisis at the moment, there is no much fresh blood

Ah yes, Zverev - I so wasn't factoring him into the mix at all. Yes he is definitely another
who could trouble Djokovic.

I know it's hard to count Rune, I suppose he only came good towards the end of the season
after making a name for himself earlier in the year. He will have to prove himself early on
in 2023, the same with Felix AA.
1803  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: November 21, 2022, 07:49:51 PM
An easy win today for djokovic against casper Ruud he looked so dominant all tournament long, there no doubt he is the best performer at the moment he has beaten all the top players, too bad nadal didn't made it far so we could see the novak nadal classic.
Novak Djokovic won in the direct sets 7-5 6-3 which looks like the first set going closer. In the second set Ruud have given up. An easy win for Novak Djokovic and he once again proved he's the lead with the 6th ATP Finals Crown.

Like i said yesterday this would be the easiest match for Novak Djokovic and it was. He won easily in straight sets against Ruud that wasnt even close to a break point in this match. Ruud still was in the final and that is a huge result. Novak Djokovic can now rest up and focus on Australian open that is in over 1 month.

And as I said earlier, Djokovic' 2023 season has already started. He is for sure going
to make up in 2023 for lost ground in 2022.

Who are going to be his main competitors for each grand slam? Alcaraz, Medvedev, Nadal,
Rune . . . anyone else?

Rugby Union

The World Rugby annual awards were yesterday, Ireland's and Leinster's flanker Josh Van Der Flier
and New Zealand's Ruahei Demant took the Men's and Women's player of the year awards.

There were other awards celebrated:

Best coach of the year
Best Women's breakthrough player
Best Mens breakthrough player (which went to an Italian player, which is nice to see)

And other awards for Rugby 7's, best try, referee etc.

1805  Other / Off-topic / Re: Lay off vs Pay cut on: November 21, 2022, 07:22:17 AM
It's still lose to lose situation.
- First option is you can't get money anymore until you get new job, seeking out new jobs would be really difficult during recession and without any prior experience in their jobs then it's thinned out the chance of getting a new jobs for some of the new or even experienced workers during that day.
- Pay cut is just depends where you live, if you can live with the pay cut then you can bear with it until the situation is normal or until you get a new job. But with same working conditions and same amount of tasks? Some people would be not interested with that.

Still would prefer to get pay cut instead of lay off especially during recession.

Generally speaking this would be the case. Being made redundant in these times would
not be ideal as it would be hard to find a job, likewise taking a pay cut would not be ideal
either, that would render the person financially unstable.

In the case of being made redundant - there are some people who would be able to benefit
from a redundancy payoff, if the person could clear existing debts it might be beneficial,
or maybe the person took a complete change in their living and "downsized" their life, made
it simpler and minimise the exposure to this financial system of boom and bust.

I would opt for Redundancy over pay cut because I would try the above!

Although Novak was complaining of not feeling well early in the first set....are they just mind games?
He already looked unwell against Medvedev, Likewise, when played against Fritz looked so tired, but wasn't sure what he was going through.
He was already leading in the second set there was no doubt he would win this match and lift the trophy to close the year very weill.

Well whatever was wrong it didn't have too much of an affect on him at all, he win that
second set quite easy really. The only player who can seriously challenge him was
Medvedev, he was the only one who took a set from him!

I don't think I'll be backing Ruud in the near future, as Trofo suggests it's hard to see anything
extraordinary in his game.
1807  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A reminder about the media on: November 20, 2022, 07:37:41 PM
The media have to sell their products and they need to sensationalise their cover story
especially when it comes to Bitcoin and crypto. The only ones who will be influenced by
these are the same game who will react negatively to the markets. Bitcoiners won't be
affected by what the media report.
1808  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: November 20, 2022, 07:17:10 PM
Well Trofo, Novak has the first set and I see what you mean about Ruud. He is very level
headed and doesn't seem to do anything exceptionally great. I suppose we could call him
Steady!

I think your bet is safe, mine....not so sure.
Although Novak was complaining of not feeling well early in the first set....are they just mind games?
1809  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: November 20, 2022, 02:02:08 PM
I watched the key moments in the Đoković - Fritz match - Đoković's mental strength showed how important it is once again.
Fritz had an advantage in the 1st tie-break, and served for the 2nd set. The result? He lost 2-0.

Đoković will be a big favorite tonight - Ruud is without a set won in their 3 matches so far.

I had a -3.5 handicap on Djokovic, I now realise I should have gone with Fritz, hindsight
is 20/20 vision of course. I have gone for Ruud in the final +4.5 @ 1.59. I think Djokovic will
win but hopefully it will be a close 2 set affair.

Yes congratulations to Australia, Men's and Women's sides! definitely a different level.
That was a massive score difference in the women's game 54 - 4 and in a final. Obviously
the game has developed way more in Australia than anywhere else.

Rugby Union

My handicap bet on Australia v Ireland yesterday came to pass, Ireland won with just
3 points in a lack lustre game. Johnny Sexton, Ireland's #10 and chief playmaker
picked up a calf injury during warmup, his absence definitely made a difference.
The game was riddled with errors.

The stand out result from the weekend is the win by Georgia over Wales, This
was their first time beating a "Tier 1" team.

Autumn Internationals

A lot of games on today, I have one bet on - Australia +13.5 against Ireland. I think and
hope this is a safe one, Australia have lost their last two games by only 1 point so they
will be really itching not to be going home with zero wins

BUT

Ireland are playing a full strength squad!

The first game is at half time now:
Italy 13 - 18 South Africa
Scotland v Argentina up shortly, this will be a big test for Scotland
England v New Zealand - The All Blacks should win that.
Wales also play today against visiting Georga
1813  Economy / Collectibles / Re: 🎃 Pumpkin Carving Contest -Poll- Vote Now 🎃 on: November 19, 2022, 07:10:59 AM
Just remembered this contest, hahaa.

Congrats taufik123 on your win! Very well done. Also congrats to BigBos & rat03gopoh on coming in second place. We will have to have a tie breaker. Any ideas how to go about it? Maybe we can pick numbers and use the blockchain to decide it, or something like this.

no need, take BigBos as the 2nd winner. I'm ok.

congrats to all winners of contests 1 & 2.
We'll compete again in the next contest.

I lost my Bitcoin for Dumped market.
I still HODL.. Tongue

Extremely generous of you.  If you want to send me your info I'd be happy to send ya a little something.  Whatever works for you works for me, but again very generous.  Awesome job again.  I'm glad to see that you're interested in doing this again next year.  That Venom pumpkin was pretty wicked, love to see what you'll come up with next.

Another great example of why the Collectibles board is one of the best on the forum.

Two examples of generosity by rat03gopoh and ChiBitCTy , nice to see, well done.

The only one able to trouble Djokovic was Medvedev but still Djokovic prevails.

I didn't make any bets on those QF's, I was right in thinking Djokovic v Medvedev
would be very close and just didn't know what way to go with or without Tsitsipas.

For today I feel like unloading my walled on Djokovic. There really isn't anyone left
to trouble him but I'll take a more sensible approach and take a handicap maybe on both?
1815  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Crypto Great Dane goes worldwide- New youtube channel. NEW VIDEO HodlClub on: November 18, 2022, 08:07:57 PM
Good work again, please keep it up.

Do have twitter, insta and all that jazz?
Would be great if you could slowly grow and gain attention also from outside the forum.
Nowadays I think that works best by running all the social media trains at once, all others can then point to your youtube.

Great suggestion. I do have an Insta and a twitter but I dont have them linked or organized. I need to spend some time rebranding all the accounts to Cryptogreat dane. Thanks for the tip. Also working on making these videos better quality. I ordered some lighting the other day.

Nice addition Dane, enjoyed that vid. Keep up the good work!

@Cryptogreatdane
when can we soon expect new videos and what projects will they be about? Smiley
Ill be doing a Hodlclub and a couple smaller videos this week. Its taken longer to gather info on the older coins than i anticipated. I am planning on using your collection for BTCC and Cold Key. Thanks for asking.. good stuff coming.

and yea I can imagine there is a lot of work and research going into each vid. well done.

I unfortunately haven't been able to see many live (or replay games) since the NRL grand final a few weeks back.

I do like International games for something that is very much played at a local team level - different countries will have vastly differing tactics of play that the opponents don't expect.  Usually, the winners will have struck down their opponents.

We don't get to see much Rugby live normally and were surprised to see Amazon Prime
had the rights to show the Autumn Internationals, hopefully it has been a success
for them and will continue to add more.

They already have almost all the big Tennis tournaments so hopefully Rugby will grow for them.

Rugby League

World Cup tomorrow - Australia v Samoa

I don't think there is much point on backing Samoa, Australia are heavy favourites.
1817  Economy / Collectibles / Re: What is your preferences - Short \ Long Auctions? on: November 17, 2022, 10:07:48 PM
I would also vote for longer auctions but not longer than 7 days.

It would also depend on the product, some products would benefit from the longer
time span but there are others which would only need 3 days!

More people on the Collectibles board means more activity, but yea we have no
control over that. Technically I recon more people means possibly less auction time
needed and vice a versa
1818  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: *El Salvador To Start Purchasing Bitcoin Everyday* on: November 17, 2022, 09:59:21 PM
He is the president of the country and he does not buy Bitcoin with his own money, and the loss you are talking about is not his personal loss, but the loss of all the people who fill the budget of that country. It's easy to be a true believer if you're gambling with other people's money, right?
It's not a gamble, it is just bitcoin and that makes it controversial. Otherwise anywhere you look the governments look like big gamblers and all of them have been driving their economies into the ground. In US the FED keeps manipulating the interest rates and causes recession, in EU they keep printing more money and decreasing the exchange rate while increasing the inflation, ... but when it is bitcoin then all of a sudden we see articles like this Tongue

I like this - we shouldn't nit-pick all his decisions regarding Bitcoin, he on behalf of El Salvador
is investing in Bitcoin and is buying, not selling, it's all positive. At a time when governments
and central banks are playing things to suit themselves and trying to mend the mistakes
they have made in the not so distant past, Bukele is still bullish on Bitcoin.

The only thing I find a bit questionable that it's only going to be 1 Bitcoin per day, I would
have thought they could buy more but yea they are not the most financially stable of countries.
1819  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: November 17, 2022, 01:32:46 PM
My bet on Rublev did not age that well Grin

Đoković really looks dominant, he secured the semis already.
Tsitsipas won the 3rd set TB against Medvedev and will fight it out with Rublev for the 2nd spot in the group.

My favorites are Rublev and FAA, and overall Đoković is the most likely to win overall.

Djokovic destroyed him and played o most a perfect match against Rublev. This is how prime Djokovic plays and if he continues like this he will win the tournament without losing a single set for sure. Djokovic is in the semis so now he dosent have to push against Medvedev

cryptofrka - eh no the bet didn't age well! I didn't even get a chance to make an in play bet
on Djokovic. I thought maybe if Rublev took the lead early on, which can happen when playing
Djokovic that the odds would jump up a bit.

Joca97 - yes that was some display from him, I would say a lot of people lost on Rublev.

Nadal is currently playing Ruud, I have a bet on Ruud to win this.
