I think most people realistically were waiting for France to be in the final against Brazil, the
next realistic possibly was France v Argentina and here it is. It's a dream scenario for both
teams, probably more so for Argentina, Messi and fans of both. It's almost like Argentina should
win it purely because it would be a crowning glory to Messi for everything he has achieved
in football.

...but my bet is on France, I think they have that trio of talent in Mbappe, Griezmann and
Giroud which could prove too much for Argentina.

Concentrate on the now, not in the past and what could have been. The vast majority of us
were not involved with the early stages of Bitcoin but we should be grateful for the early adopters
and everyone else who have nurtured it and helped it grow to where it is today.

Forking Bitcoin in any way won't result in what the OP wishes, The Bitcoin Blockchain
will continue on its path with the vast majority of interested people supporting and
following it, it's consensus!

Yea I know, do you go + or - ?

Tips for the weekend - hmmm, I can't give tips but I'll let you know what way I'm leaning.

The teams to watch in the Heineken Cup are both Irish and French, in particular Leinster!

I really think they are going to be on a mission this year to claim their 5th title after
being so close for the last few years. BUT there is no value with them after they
whipped Racing92 last weekend. Rollbit are offering -35 handicap on them minimum
this weekend.

An interesting one though is Ulster v La Rochelle Defending Champions.
Ulster are going well in the URC and are currently 4th, La Rochelle are off the pace in the Top14
and are well behind in 4th, they are
favourites this weekend against Ulster @ 1.49 v 2.65.

Now last weekends results vastly favour a bet on La Rochelle, they beat Northampton Saints
46-12 and Ulster were whipped 32-0 by Sale Sharks, Ulster won't let that happen again! There
is definitely value there with an Ulster bet.

Also There is another interesting one on Sunday Harlequins are favourite against visiting
Racing92 who are second in the Top14, 1.78 v 2.05

I think a dollar bet on both Ulster and Racing92
1724  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bear market - previous experience / advice? on: December 15, 2022, 12:11:40 PM
You're doing good by dollar cost averaging — but the better question is, what are you actually buying? Make sure you're actually buying coins/tokens that you're actually confident(with ample independent research and all that) in, and not some YouTuber pump and dump stuff.

...or better still just DCA into Bitcoin and forget about altcoins.

The main cycle in Bitcoin is the halving which happens every 4 years, so that's a 4 year
cycle between each halving. In those 4 years we experience all aspects of the
market movements from the highs of the bull markets to the lows of the bear markets.

This also means that anyone who is only in Bitcoin for 1 or 2 years have not fully experienced
everything the markets can produce.

Being in Bitcoin for over 4 years teaches us primarily not to panic. For example I am in
crypto since January 2017 so I have experienced all the highs and lows within 2 halving
cycles (but not a full 4 year one)

I bought Bitcoin first at $1000, I have been well rewarded for being patient, believing in the
future and HODLING!

It's too soon to be talking about 2024, all of the 2023 season still has to be played and
anything can happen in 12 months.

Our top picks for 2023 could pick up an injury and be out for 6 months and then factor in the
journey back to being fit, particularly in the case of Djokovic who has been fairly injury free but
at this stage is not the youngest competitor.
1726  Economy / Economics / Re: Saving one third what you earn monthly is not that hard, isn't it ? on: December 14, 2022, 10:14:33 PM
It also depends on lifestyle and choices made.

Clearly.

Loans like car, personal and mortgages will seriously eat into any monthly income

In my country the people, after starting to have a steady income, usually at late 20s and in the 30s, take a loan and buy a flat.
Usually one has to pay some 20-30 years for that, hence if one took a loan for his flat in the past 10 years, not much of a chance for bitcoin either Undecided

But my point in the other post was not about that. My point was about the country. In some countries the minimum wage is low. In mine the minimum legal wage will rise next year to some 600 EUR.
A 20 years old person is a newbie in his field and will not have a great starting salary.
Taking all this into account, neither the $3k/month logic, nor the "living frugally" to save some bitcoins don't help.
What can help is a second job. But I think that in the 20s that's not an easy step to make.

€600 per month minimum wage is very low, $3000 per month is quite substantial.
The monthly minimum wage in my country is approximately €1750.

Taking a second job would be necessary in order to live and save or buy Bitcoin,
it's not an easy step and can be very demanding but if the person is focussed on Bitcoin
the second job may only have to be temporary.
1727  Economy / Economics / Re: Saving one third what you earn monthly is not that hard, isn't it ? on: December 14, 2022, 02:20:27 PM
If you are in twenties or early thirties and remain single, earn $3,000 after tax per month, you will probably save $1,000 if you, let's say, spend $500 to $800 on rental, a guest bedroom in a shared house/apartment, $500 on food, $50  on utilities, $150 on phone/internet bills, $400 on commuting costs or gas/maintainance if you have a used car, $200 on occasional entertainment or others. This $1,000 savings will allow you to invest or place a house down payment when time is ripe. Is this possible based on where you live ?

It depends a lot by where one lives. If I'd be earning $3k from salary (after tax), it would be wonderful. But I don't.
Also the expenses differ greatly from country to country.
So the math you've done, although nice, doesn't apply in most parts of the world.

It also depends on lifestyle and choices made.

Loans like car, personal and mortgages will seriously eat into any monthly income depending
on how they were made. It is so easy to overstretch the finances particularly when the person
is not financially educated/responsible.

Living frugally will make it much easier to live on whatever monthly wage is available. Being disciplined
to be able to save is crucial to reaching a goal. We are constantly bombarded with "But me" messages.

"Cut the cloth to suit the measure"

Wow, that was some win! Messi was unbelievable in that match, his passing game was impressive
and his input for Alvaraz' goals were too.

France v Morocco tonight! France afe and have been the strongest team so far and have a
lot of attack options, Morocco on the other hand have only leaked 1 goal and OG so their defense
is impressive. This will be a massive upset, the biggest of the tournament if France are beaten,
which is possible if it goes to penalties.

1730  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price 2023 on: December 13, 2022, 08:34:05 PM
Are you still not going to buy bitcoin even though the price has experienced such a deep decline? Or do you still want to wait for the price to drop even deeper than that? I'm telling you that if you do nothing and just wait, you won't know when to act and it will be too late to decide.

Yeah I don't really get those waiting to buy at 12? 13? 14k? It's not like they're buying an entire Bitcoin either. Save a few thousand dollars at the risk of missing out when Bitcoin does actually recover and not look back until the next cycle in a few years.

Not looking down on anyone but it was probably the same with me putting away $100 or so every now and then, and thinking I was smart to time, completely overlooking that at my small amount, the numbers really stop making logical sense in terms of time invested trying to time the market when you're DCA-ing long term.

Me neither, I don't get the i dea of holding out for the price to reach that low, a low which
doesn't look like happening.

Just DCA and if miraculously the price does go that low, just buy more.

The market is now in a state of stability, which means that there will be no new financial flows during this year or the coming years, and the economic situation does not indicate more financial flows, which means that we will be in a price range of less than 30k and higher than 10kunless unique changes occur .

It will be impossible to determine the price, but basing your strategy on this plan will be fine.

Bitcoin certainly takes time to rise or recover again, if we look at the previous trend then it takes at least 2 years to be able to pass the previous ATH, during the time waiting then it is better to fill the wallet so that when the price skyrocketed we do not regret because it does not buy when the price is cheap like a current moment and today the price drop again.

Bitcoin will not reach all-time high in 2023. We should keep our expectations to a certain limit as the year 2023 won't be a big market year. We may remain sideways and if there is much volatility, the bitcoin will remain mostly in a range between 20K to 30K. If we are able to close the year over 30K, i think it will be good for the crypto market (after the drama of FTX and the fud of USDT and binance too)

Ah I believe that in the 4th quarter of 2023 we will see a nice bit of action as we approach
the halving. The markets will be getting excited about the halving well before it actually
happens.

Over 6 months before the halving in 2020 Bitcoins price was higher approx $10500
than the day of the halving approx $8500
1731  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Candidates for the WORLD CUP 2022 Winner on: December 13, 2022, 12:46:05 PM
The winner of France - England is in my opinion the favorite for the final victory. Argentina may have Messi, but otherwise they showed little against the Netherlands yesterday. Without Messi, they would have been eliminated by now. Or would we see another outsider in Portugal? I do not assume that Morocco can provide a surprise. Speaking of outsider, Croatia should also not be erased. Losing finalist of the World Cup in 2018. Who knows, it will succeed this year. After all, they have the best midfielder of the tournament: Modric.
I won't be surprised if Morocco are champions in this World Cup. It also has the potential. Because before the World Cup, most football experts thought that the most qualified teams to win the championship were Belgium and Brazil. These two teams have a lot of star players. France was in third place. Many players are out of the France squad due to injuries. So they are a bit behind. Morocco on the other hand is playing very well. Today's match also leads with Portugal 1-0. Argentina had a dramatic win over the Netherlands yesterday. And therefore, which team will be the champions, it cannot be said for sure in this World Cup.
Even before the World Cup tournament started I already had three favourite to win the World Cup which we are Brazil France and England but as it stands now Brazil is eliminated and this evening either of France or England would also be eliminated. This means only one of my favorites is capable of getting to the final. it is a clear message that even Morocco has chances of winning the World Cup as it stands now
France won't be easy against Morocco. As we have seen in previous matches, Morocco's defense is very effective against a strong attack. Along with the defenders, Morocco's goalkeeper also performed very well. The France team is strong. But France's performance largely depends on Mbappe's performance. If Mbappe doesn't play well, it will be very difficult for France to win. So if Morocco's players can only resist Mbappe, their chances of victory will increase. However, the France vs Morocco match will not be one-sided. Both teams are likely to win.
I was surprised to see that Mbappe didn't get on the scoreboard for France,
not surprised that they beat England.
If Morocco can hold off France and take the match to penalties anything could
happen as per Croatia v Brazil. I think they will be too much for Morocco though.
With Brazil now despatched I think Frances chances of winning the tournament
have increased IMO.

Comparing the squads of Morocco and France, France is definitely stronger. Mbappe is playing fantastically. Griezmann is back in form. France is very strong now with these two strikers. However, Morocco's defense is much more stable and strong. It is difficult to score against such a defense. As against France, Morocco will try their best to draw the match. I think the match is most likely to be a draw. Because I watched all the matches in the knockout round of Morocco. Their goalkeepers and defenders have performed best in this World Cup. So they have the ability to stop France.

I'm surprised you don't think Croatia or Argentina are favorites for the title. I consider Argentina the favorite to become champions. After losing the first match, their performance in each match was outstanding.

Well with the big names in world Soccer, Brazil, Spain, Portugal, Germany and England
for example who are not here now the tournament is still open to any of the 4 teams.

Remember Croatia were in the final in 2018....against France, imagine that was to happen again?

Theoretically Croatia and Morocco are the two weakest teams but I think Croatia have
a bigger chance of beating Argentina than Morocco do against France.
1732  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why still keep the money on phone? on: December 13, 2022, 08:49:54 AM
if vulnerable why people still keep his bitcoin on wallet phone?, are they rich? Why they give his bitcoin to the hacker?
Because many people do not care about security of their devices until their wallet has been hacked, this is because many of them do not know that hack can occur on their phone until it happened.

Another reason is the convenience. It is convenient for them to have coins on phone and make transaction easy and on the go at everywhere they are because they always have their mobile phone with themselves. But it is good to only leave the coin that you can afford to lose on phone, the rest on cold wallet.

I agree, so many people can be very complacent with their coins  It's the same mentality
as keeping coins on an exchange.

The thing with smartphone wallet apps is that they offer very convenient user experiences
but phones are easily stolen, misplaced or damaged.

I don't see a problem with keeping some Satoshis on the phone in order to make minor
payments but to keep a full wallet on the phone is dangerous.
1733  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: December 13, 2022, 07:17:39 AM
The Australian Open will start soon. It will be a while until 2023, but Djokovic will still be very keen to achieve a good result here. He was not allowed to participate in the last edition. I don't know what exactly has changed in the rules. Alcaraz is the number 1 in the world, but I don't see him as the top favorite for the title in Melbourne. Djokovic is placed 5th, but in his situation that does not say much. It is remarkable that Medvedev has dropped quite a few places in the world rankings, he can now be found in 7th place in the current rankings.

looking at the dates when the Australian Open starts, I don't see it as a very distant date, on the contrary it is very close, I particularly think that Djokovic needs to prepare a lot during this period because many good tennis players are appearing, and he can no longer you can afford to relax if you want to win anything, the rapid evolution of many tennis players is frightening, and even predicting a game becomes very difficult because one sees a renowned tennis player and thinks: I will bet on this renowned tennis player who will win the game , but at the end of the game the renowned tennis player loses the game, for me Djokovic has to work hard if he wants to achieve something in this tournament
In the past the odds for Djokovic will be low in his matches and we can easily pick it. Now scenario is different with the emergence of good number of players that compete good. It makes the match outcome unpredictable. Amidst his age, he keeps his momentum with regular wins which isn't possible with players of similar age. Most of the players who are at the lead are very young and that makes Djokovic put additional effort to stand against them, though he is good with tricks and experience.

Please don't forget Tennis over a 5 set match is VERY different than over 3 sets. The
psychological strength of players really comes into play. It has been said before that Tennis
is not just about skills and fitness, it's all about the mental conditioning of a player. We have
seen before where Djokovic has been 2 sets down in a GS and has come back to dominate
and win the final three!

On Djokovic' side there is self belief in these situations and on the other side many opponents
will have fear and doubt. Djokovic' experience, skills, fitness and self belief will win!

Yea the Aussies have a high chance of beating the Irish, but into oblivion I'm not so sure.

Timelord - that was a good call. 29-0 that was dissapointing!

Rugby Union

I have three bets on for today's games in the European Champions Cup as follows:

Munster at home to beat Stad Toulousain - +4.5 @ 1.66

Ospreys v Leicester Tigers - Tigers to win @ 1.65

Saracens at home to beat Edinburgh - -14.5 @ 1.67

I'm not really confident about those handicap bets but let's see.

...and I'm only 1 from 3 in the Champions Cup from yesterday. All the 3 favourites
won but not by the margins I bet on

Munster lost by 5 points!

I really need to stop with the Rugby handicaps.

Like i said Fritz for me is the favorite and i won my bet because Fritz won in straight sets. Even tho it was in two tie breaks he still won as expected. Wawrinka is like Murray they win in first two three rounds and that is it for them. They wont win any titles as far as i see at this age
As said the age factor surely have its role. Though the older ones were well experienced than the young one's, it is hard for them to make shots precisely as that of the young players does. Finally more young players are coming out and the competence over the falling tournaments will be high. Medvedev managed to do good, but unexpected errors stopped him from winning the trophy. Finally Diriyah Cup have given exposure to Saudi Arabia players.

I also agree that Wawrinka he’s not going to win titles because as far as they go in the tournament, the competition is going to be much more better for them. At this age, it is hard for players like him and Murray to keep up with that competition. And also, if we look at the players that they will be facing going deep into any tournament right now, we will see that are going to be much younger than them. Hard for an old player to beat players like Alcatraz.

Yes I also agree, players like Alcaraz, Rune, Sinner, Ruud and Medvedev for example will
only be getting stronger each year.

Wawrinka will be happy to be back playing and competing, in the case of Murray who actually
believes he is a contender to win tournaments I wonder if Wawrinka believes the same for
himself? and how strong that belief will be at the end of 2023 for both players?

Thanks for the list.

For someone not interested in trading but rather in exchanging FIAT - BTC - FIAT
there are a few options which could be beneficial like CoinEx with the cheapest transaction
fees and Huobi.

With the exception of Bitfinex and Poloniex there are others which are not that well known.

This article > https://medium.com/coinmonks/no-kyc-crypto-exchanges-buy-crypto-without-kyc-3b2eda2b5397
lists a few more, does anyone have any experience with:

Bityard
Bingx
Changenow
Waves.Exchange

As regards Changelly, I have heard of them before, how reputable are they?

Wawrinka still showing good quality tennis even at this age and we can expect more from him in the next 1-2 years max.
Yes, he still shows good tennis. But I am not sure how much longer his body will keep up.
In any case, the final is Medvedev versus Fritz. Fritz had some problems with Norrie and could only win the semifinal in the third set in a tiebreak 10:6. Medvedev now has every chance of winning the tournament again, just like in 2019.
That is true Wawrinka aint 20 years old anymore so his body wont hold on for long. Fritz for me is the favorite because of his good serve and i think Medvedev will need to work very hard but if his defence is at his best he can take the win. Probobly a close match but i got Fritz in it

Medvedev did win the final against Fritz in 2019. But time has changed since then. I can see that almost every betting site is heavily favoring Medvedev to win this match.

In Stake, the odds are 2.5-1.5  in favor of Medvedev if I am not wrong. But I actually think that this match is going to be very close. Honestly, I am not very confident about Fritz winning this match. But I think he will be able to give a very good fight to his opponent.

Wawrinka Is going to be 38 very soon. I don't think he will be able to continue playing well for a longer period of time anymore. I expect a drop in his performance in a year or two.

And yes, Fritz won the final in 2 tie breaks, good call Joca97. In fairness to Fritz, he
has been performing well in the second half of the season and Medvedev has been ~so so~.

That's a very nice End of Season for Fritz, let's see how he goes in 2024, he will be on
my watch list for sure!
