out of all the places... a gas station.. i know most people dont think it does any harm and even ignore the sign.. but do you know what gas stations normally have that would hinder the use of mobile apps being used to pay for your gas.. here is a clue, you might have noticed them at gas stations and had the attendant give you a gesture if you were to be playing with your cell phone while filling ur car. i think maybe something popular such as walmart or starbucks would be a better suited venue to push bitcoins first. and dont reply that another great opportunity would be to remotely order a refill of ur popcorn bag, whilst at the movie theatre.. for the exact same reason

local bitcoins price is set by the advertiser
EG if you want to sell YOUR bitcoins YOU put down a price advert YOU want to sell at
EG if you want to buy bitcoins YOU can put down a price advert YOU want to buy at.
leaving others to either list their prefered price adverts or just trade with you if your price looks good enough.
the real question is "what are the factors people base their prices on"
the answers are: popularity: availability within the 10 mile range of them - if its very competitive you will see alot of people out bidding each other eagerness: how eager or desperate someone is to sell or buy - if very eager to sell you would put a lower then competitor price, thus getting more sales.
most people use the averages of exchanges like MTGOX, BITSTAMP etc converted to local currency and then vary the price a little bit depending on popularity in their local area and their own personal eagerness.

making a podcast is easy, it just involves a webcam, recording yourself and uploading it to youtube or soundcloud.
the hardest part is reading through the entire white paper and then trying to explain bits about block headers and other crucial parts of bitcoin witout the techno babble. thus removing the feel that your just narrating the same words of the white paper.
id say concentrate on the script.. recording it and uploading it is childs play

Seriously post!
Fed Not Guaranteed, hence this guy: Mark Duplass.
Does he pass muster?
havnt seen much of his work , had to look him up, not much listed about any passion for political change, or being big and famous enough to motivate crowds of people into signing petitions or organising their own protests... i got nothing against this suggested person. but theres nothing really about him that shows he would make a great motivator for change, when thinking of this guy, i start to compare him to for instance the three main actors from the TV series "Lost"... which is a bit more publicly known to many people.. and i think that those 3 would be higher on my list then Mark Duplass.. for now, though im sticking with Schwarzenegger for USA and Brand for UK as my personal choices, untill someone comes up with a better motivator. atleast these 2 guys already have a "foot in the door" of politics to know how things work and how to get things to change. and famous enough to get stuff printed on front pages of media.

the big part of this deal i can see is if all the bitcoin UK community were on giffgaff, then they can simply buy the cheapest tarrif and be able to text, call each other 24/7 FOR FREEEEEEEEEE
imagine it, a phone network topped up using bitcoins where you dont have to worry about call costs. alot better deal then other networks that only offer you 3 best friends or evening calls within limits, blah

where banks use to have their niche was as the secure store of gold so that average joe did not have to be weighted down, instead they were given receipts (more commonly bearer bonds/ IOU's) promising the person holding the note that they can reclaim the gold on demand.
those days have gone.
the whole FIAT system now is dying, because the currency amount printed on it, is not worth the paper its printed on.
but what i do see as a possible use of a 'centralised' system to still exist is for ensuring instant transactions without the whole confirm 10 minute waiting periods. which would mainly be beneficial for the small priced stuff that shops would hate to have customers waiting 10 minutes to process.
stuff like cars and houses, yea i accept having to wait 10-20 minutes to guarantee payment. but a sandwich or a cup of coffee, i wouldnt want to have to hang around for,
so having a service where by, for instance 'bips' or 'bitpay' were the centralised service. people can have a small account for putting in under $100 worth of funds (not requiring ID checks and other red tape) and the customer because the funds are pre-confirmed within bips/bitpay, can then use those funds to pay starbuck, a bar or walmart instantly without waiting. because bips/bitpay simply do a database balance alteration (off the blockchain) between customer and merchant.
this is where i see the future of banking being. small transactions using Apps to make instant transactions fast and easy to use. and to quote the credit card company "for everything else there is" bitcoin-QT

if your ever unsure about when to trade, dont throw all your stash into that gamble. risk half of your stash. that way if it pays off your still profiting, if it doesnt, you still have cash left over to buy in at the cheaper price (thus averaging down the first orders cost)
i personally break orders down into 5-10 different price points and never sell on a loss. and if i had 50% stash already in waiting for a sell point to hit, i wait for an adequate price drop to compensate, EG not buy in on a $2 drop if im waiting for a $10 rise.. (id wait for atleast a $10 drop to buy in and then wait for the correction)
theres many ways to limit risk, just dont be foolish throwing it all in at one order price. because you end up being foolish selling at a loss thinking you can profit on the next dump and ramp

proper long term savings accounts where banks can use and abuse our funds, i dont think so. especially not for a measly 1-5% return
but small 'pocket money' sized accounts to deposit into (to get preconfirmed) and then used for instant 'off the chain' transactions with retailers like starbucks, mcdonalds and other small priced items would be an advantage

i know your only trolling, and i love the comedical responses but lets try being serious and look at ur list Sean Parker (still influential), your own rules: 3) Cannot be full of themselves. lol the sell out that advocated that selling peoples private info to corporations and government was the way zuckerburg should take facebook...
Mark Zuckerberg, same reason as sean parker
Eddie Murphy, your own rules: 1) Cannot have had an extramarital affair. 3) Cannot be full of themselves.
Charlie Sheen (winning!) your own rules: 3) Cannot be full of themselves.
Miley Cyrus only influential to the teenagers and to advertise cam4BTC your own rules: 3) Cannot be full of themselves.
i think you are imagining some kind of TV advert much like mastercard, purely to have a well known face saying how great the payment processing is. because i cannot honestly see theses people you mentioned being the motivators for a revolution to change the whole government scheme

hi my name is andrewWilliams i cannot think of a positive way to expand bitcoin, nor am i socially accepted in real life to ever meet or know anyone good enough to promote bitcoin. thus i will just troll the forum thread and not actually contribute. i dont know any famous people but i will insult any name others suggest for the pure hell of it
maybe me editing the above will show the true meaning of your replies (pure waffle) and might make you answer properly: IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE GUYS MENTIONED, THEN TELL US WHO YOU HAVE IN MIND THATS BETTER

i like the efforts being done around the world.. but when there are laws about foundations needing XYZ, then why stick to these laws by calling the group a foundation. call it a community drive, a collective, a group, a social club, a resourse hub..
after all this is bitcoins not FIAT so why limit yourself to categorizing the group into a name that causes its 'members' to be paid by FIAT rules
To follow the currently Bitcoin Foundation, and become part of it. The good thing about the fundation, is that the founds they get, only can be invested in his objectives. But yes, those compliances are stupid... I think this make it "legal". you can still set up a community drive, a collective, a group, a social club, a resource hub and have the same bitcoin agreed rules, just without having to adhere to the FIAT / government rules. for instance if the original bitcoin FOUNDATION were to have been called the bitcoin Consortium. what merits or demerits would it have had legally or within the community.. the answer. no de-merits.. GavinA and his crew would still program and debug the QT client, the promoters would still be able to promote, nothing would be prevented by it being a consortium. why does anything in bitcoin land (that does not touch the FIAT borders) have to be categorised by local government rules. and before someone replies, because its based on linux ideologies and blah blah hence the link to linux foundation.. id reply, how about the w3c (a consortium).

what does having an extra-marital affair have to do with anything.. i thought that was just a rule limited to christians, because in the real world it happens with real people more often then you think..
i do agree about the alien and other tinfoil hat people though.
but to those dissing RBrand. im still awaiting your recommendations for someone with enough fame to get the message out there, enough passion to want politics changed and of course a level head (honest and open personality people will believe) to get the ball running.
no one is asking for a "leader" but atleast someone that can motivate and inform the masses.
so lets hear them names roll in
ok ill start Ron Paul

i truly find it funny that with bitcoins being OUR money instead of government assured IOU's people are more freely handing them out to anyone with little to no care.
think to yourself, if someone on the forums or a chat box randomly shouted out they were selling something what would you normally do to trust them if you were doing a FIAT 'cash-in-mail' transaction to a PO BOX (equivalent to a public address not linked to a persons location or identity)
most people would stay far away.
my rule is simple, if i cant meet up with them and slap them across the head with a wet fish if things went wrong, i would never do trades for anything more then the value of a couple pints at a bar/pub (throw away/disposable income)

mining these days if at all profitable is more aimed at those mindsets that still want 1-5% interest a year (like a bank account use to give a decade ago)
not sure which cloud hosting the OP refers to, but thats expensive. i see cex.io is doing 1Ghash for 0.1btc (20Ghash= 2btc(~$400))
infact even getting the avalon mini rigs 60Ghash your looking at better return on your money compared to cloudhashing with cex.io
40Ghash in cloud =4BTC 60Ghash Avalon =4BTC
even if you live in a high electricity cost area, housing your avalon is cheaper then the 'maintenance', 'administration' and 'processing' fee's that cloud hashing sites have in their small print. put it simply, instead of cloud hosting and then during winter having to heat your home and then waste more BTC income just to pay your utility bill.. the heat production from the avalon units can keep a room nice and snug for less electric use then running your 1KW electric heater, so its like running an electric heater that pays for itself.

It might work, slightly, with games with hundreds of thousands or millions of players. Other than that I dont see it being worth pissing off players with slow app speed and decreased battery life. There's no way it will replace in-app purchases. I'll give them credit for creativity and imagination though well a penny a day from a million customers will net them 3.65million a year. but at what 'social' cost. after all media in springtime went out on a rampage when they found out games developers for windows based games had mining engines hidden within the game code.

monetize free apps...
just those 3 words make me laugh..
as for apps designed for phones, itll earn just as much as a rasberry Pi, there is already android miners available, so i dont think this is big news. its not going to make Apple rich over night, itll more then likely pee apple users off once they download about 3 different 'free apps' that have a miner constantly running to cover developer costs.
they're about 2 years out of date on getting mobile devices mining. i wouldnt even bother mining on a top spec AMD mobile GPU on a laptop these days
