281  Economy / Services / Re: CloudMining.website Signature - Highest payment per post - Jr. Members allowed on: January 14, 2015, 10:49:54 PM
It seems we are having a confusion here regarding the status of Sr. Member & above for the monthly campaign. We stated the following in the OP...

Quote
Sr. Member & above: Stuff members or members with +ve trust signal may contact. This group may either accept payment on www.cloudmining.website or we may keep the payment to a forum escrow.

This means, to be part of this campaign for next one month, Sr. Member & above people need to have +ve trust signal or they need to be a stuff member. Rates are negotiable on PM.

Members of the previous weekly campaign may wear the referral link now to enjoy the referral earning.

What is a Stuff member?  Do you mean Staff member?

282  Economy / Services / Re: CloudMining.website Signature - Highest payment per post - Jr. Members allowed on: January 14, 2015, 09:04:50 PM
I also noticed that the new campaign starts on the 19th...is that the same across the board?  I have no problem maintaining the signature for the next five days (for free) but just want clarification.  I personally don't think it is a bad idea to have everyone start on the same day as it would make it easier on you guys to track post activity.
283  Economy / Services / Re: CloudMining.website Signature Campaign - Highest paid weekly campaign [Escrowed] on: January 14, 2015, 05:38:57 PM
Payment received, thank you.

Our next campaign is going to be monthly where Jr. Member to Legendary, all will be accepted. We will soon update the OP accordingly. Once you receive your payment, you may consider to leave us a +ve feedback.

I would like to continue into the monthly campaign.  Do I need to sign up again or can we just roll into it?

Cheers!

....then we have a potentially accurate visual analogy.

An accurate visual analogy, would be to have spreadcoin stand on the shoulders of darkcoin which stands on the shoulders of bitcoin.

Open source means we can all profit from eachother.

I wouldn't argue that...would be a longer gif though...

Not just you....I see invalid image as well.

Ok i'll try another hosting site.

Here is the link until I can get it to work:

http://gifyu.com/images/ksWlOB5.gif

I like the gif and can appreciate the time spent creating it.

I don't think that it is a valid comparison though.  Dark happened a year ago and is relevant in that it provided a stepping stone for innovation.  I like to think that the altcoin community is a huge R&D community...it is.  Dark has a place within that mindset and such a dismissal might be disingenuous towards acknowledging what this community ultimately should be about...which is collaboration.

That said, I did say stepping stone.  I suppose if we view the simultaneous explosions as distribution then we have a potentially accurate visual analogy.  It looks cool regardless....but maybe an idea would be to use an evolution theme...?

is this going to be abused for a pump and dump again?

price is getting low and there is definitely a robot trying to accumulate them over me.

I highly doubt it.

Price has been stagnant for pretty much the entirety of this coins existence and there is no indication that the dev is coming back.  If I am not mistaken, he even tried to launch another coin after his last post in this thread.

I need more dextroamphetamine, which I should get refilled on the 24th of the month or so. As for open source, I don't know yet, honestly.

Fair enough...though I did actually 'lol'...edit to add - @ the primary premise.
Personally I think it gives no cause for criticism to earn some coins for Wolf0's hard work.

I think you might have misinterpreted.  When I asked what was needed, I was willing to donate.  Still am.  The response given, in my opinion, was honest and not what I expected...hence the 'laugh'.  Twas a harmless expression on my part; I respect the work that has gone on from many parties within this thread.

There was no criticism from my end...

So ,when do we expect to use your optimized GPU miner ?
Wolf0 ,you could add a Spreadcoin donation address in your signature now  Wink

That depends on if I get it done, if I release it, if I can get what I need to finish it...

What do you need to finish it and is it open source (to address concerns expressed earlier)?

I am not dedicated to either way but think that is an elephant question worth asking.
292  Economy / Speculation / Re: What might the lowest possible price of Bitcoin be? on: January 13, 2015, 05:50:43 AM
I wonder how many of us are factoring in these guys...

Quote
We believe Bitcoin can become a major means of payment for e-commerce and may emerge as a serious competitor to traditional money transfer providers," says Woo. "Assuming Bitcoin becomes (1) a major player in both e-commerce and money transfer and (2) a significant store of value with a reputation close to silver, our fair value analysis implies a maximum market capitalization of Bitcoin of $15bn (1BTC = 1300 USD)."
http://www.businessinsider.com/bitcoin-debate-ramping-up-on-wall-street-2013-12

At the peak of BTC price, Citibank released their report and claimed the above bold.

I think they were wrong but looking at it from their perspective, from the perspective of people from an industry who lobbies millions on political campaigns for legislation that benefits them in the financial spectrum, they took notice of BTC when it was making waves.

If we consider that they already have a huge ton of money that is considered disposable to them and that adoption wasn't widespread enough for the population to take control of BTC then why are we not assuming that there is a huge amount of money from fiat interests manipulating the market?

BTC has the backing of some notable merchants and financial players but the fact of the matter is that Citibank released a statement saying that 1300 was a fair price and it never went higher.

I think that the amount of money that has gone into development in various aspects of crypto is relevant so I am not worried in the end but this should be considered relevant information.
293  Economy / Speculation / Re: What might the lowest possible price of Bitcoin be? on: January 13, 2015, 05:16:27 AM
BTC has use but the tech is what is being dealt with right now.  Either sidechains create a BTC on steroids or another alt takes its place.  At least that is my simplified opinion.
Ripple, Etherium, and Paycoin all tried to do that. How did that work out?

Not a fair sample size...with regards to time and example.

Personally, I don't think Ripple counts.  Ethereum is still in development and I don't have too much hope for it - it needs BTC in order to sell their higher end product.  Paycoin is a scam and nothing will convince me otherwise.

I placed nothing in all three...and I still stand by my assertion.

Note, I am not claiming that I have invested in any altcoin that might replace BTC...I actually believe sidechains will do it...
294  Economy / Speculation / Re: What might the lowest possible price of Bitcoin be? on: January 13, 2015, 05:06:43 AM
With a technology shift, the coins will be concentrated to those who have invested in leading technologies, thus the rest of the people who want to get coin have no choice but to buy, thus push up the price dramatically. But this time when there is no large technology advance in horizon, the dramatic price swing might not happen again

I'm always curious as to why people without bitcoin have 'no choice' but to buy bitcoins from the few that own them.  There are plenty of businesses that may want to use bitcoin, but from a customer's point of view the only really compelling reason to own bitcoins is to buy something that's illegal or restricted in their own country.  It's a valid use that cannot be denied, but it's a relatively small one.

Thanks for that.  Because these lunatic cultists haven't thought of the obvious.

It should be noted that in the last auction the US MArshalls sent millions of dollars worth of BTC for about four cents.

295  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [SKY] Skycoin Launch Announcement on: January 13, 2015, 04:32:35 AM

I think the reason for the post was to communicate the issues they are encountering with progress...and if one is to infer correctly, I believe it would be along the lines of a notion that there is reticence in releasing a project or providing dates while there is an incomplete product.

They're trying to do something cool and which hasn't been done before...and for the first time in crypto, I think I am seeing a team who wants to release the awesome before the IPO...or as much of it as possible.

At least that is how I am interpreting things here...once the tech work is out of the way than they might be comfortable walking through the cakewalk of other details...if true...mad respect.
296  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] MangoCoinz Official ANN Thread - Mine cryptocurrencies on you smart phone on: January 12, 2015, 07:49:44 PM
thanks, but  there should be some automating mining methods...want to know...

It's pretty much limited to putting your phone on a washing machine or hanging it on a string in windy conditions.  Keep in mind that the sync to the network prevents more than seven coins a day from being mined.
297  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] MangoCoinz Official ANN Thread - Mine cryptocurrencies on you smart phone on: January 12, 2015, 07:43:21 PM
anybody could tell me how to easily mine ? pm me,if you have some good method.

thanks very much.

At this point, either shaking for a few minutes several times a day is the best way or just keep it on during active movement.  If the difficulty is too high then you might want to attach it to an oscillating fan or something else during the night while you sleep in order to ensure that you get to the maximum sync limit.

Disclosure - I am more than fine at this point mining just a few coins a day - I have no patience to go through the motion of 'automating' the mining process.  I did it once and felt it was too much effort...; )
298  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Stand With Cops Petition on: January 12, 2015, 07:39:50 PM
If they are anything like the police I know in England, they are just like other people- perhaps more jaded and cynical (London Met or other city police), but the real problem is when you collectivize a service with no accountability (or extremely limited) you create a honeypot for traumatized and abusive individuals with a penchant for all manner of vices, violence and corruption, which make up a relatively small portion of the staff.

I think that is a very understated aspect of the current perspective regarding polcie brutality, at least in the states.  We grow up learning the ideological aspect of who the police are and what function they are supposed to serve in our society and as a result, they get attributed an authority figure status that associated with pure ideology.

The fact of the matter is that policemen go through a minimal amount of training and are immediately integrated into a social system that is cut off from the rest of the world where they learn to take their social cues from other police officers.  They then learn loyalty to this social subset and all of the paranoia regarding criminal offenders gets primary reference in their working memories - they essentially view the world as police and not police.  They are also just regular people who are subject to the same temptations as regular people and invariably find themselves committing numerous violations with a very strong basis for rationalization/justification - a basis that everyone else doesn't get.

Studying Black History was amazing in that it allotted me an opportunity to reflect on the historical lack of economic opportunity given to the larger Black community and as a result, offenses such as drugs, prostitution and theft were almost necessary endeavors for economic achievement yet they did not represent a majority of occurrences.  In fact, employed white people do drugs on a level that is similar if not greater than the Black community yet the number of arrests for each demographic is incredibly disproportionate - which means that there is kind of an institutionalized racism that is being employed.  From a sociological perspective and dismissive of the popular ideology regarding police, it is a huge mess that is being almost completely ignored.

If these types of narratives were more prominent and acceptable throughout our society then we might have an opportunity for immediate progress but there is way more motivation to deny and cover up then there is to do this...and that is likely not something that is going to happen for a while if ever.  I keep thinking that the internet has opened up our society to these types of communications but in order for it to have a bureaucratic effect we likely need to see a new generation represented in higher offices...

If this seems kind of discombobulated then my apologies...there are a few points scrunched up in here that likely deserve their own expanded posts for clarity...
299  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] MangoCoinz Official ANN Thread - Mine cryptocurrencies on you smart phone on: January 12, 2015, 04:59:19 AM
Also clams is slang for money so the name isn't as ridiculous as it might seem.

Noted...I somehow relegated my Flintstones memories to non working recall...; )

I am not against a rebranding, for sure, but I am personally not against the name Mangocoinz.  There are plenty of successful brands that have names that seem disassociated from their product.  That said, a rebrand could lend itself to being a good way of getting attention to the coin in terms of attention - make it a contest with MCZ being a reward for first, second, and third places decided by a vote (controlled in some way to prevent manipulation).

Koinetics was/is kind of a clever name by the way...I'm not dedicated to aversion because of the Koinify similarity...
300  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] MangoCoinz Official ANN Thread - Mine cryptocurrencies on you smart phone on: January 12, 2015, 04:18:49 AM
If you're rebranding, what about the name "Koinetic"? Like "kinetics" (the study of motion and its causes) + "coin". It sums up how the coin works in one made up word. I don't know, I kind of like it.

Also, hit me up if you need a new logo: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=912397.msg10018634#msg10018634

Seems like that it is very similar to "Koinify", the crowdfunding guys...https://koinify.com/#/

Is it official that the name is being changed?  I would to like to hear back from the dev and hear how he feels about it.  I think MangoCoinz is fine (Clams made it and is named as a general reference but still sounds ridiculous) and don't want to step on toes regarding a name change...

I like the idea of a donation fund; will send mine soon...-thumbsup-
