2901  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Necessary reminder: watch out for $5 wrench attacks on: November 04, 2021, 03:51:12 AM
This is nightmare and to avoid this, to protect ourselves, we should not let others know that we are bitcoin investors or crypto investors.

The young generation has some habit that I don't know. They would prefer to share screenshot of their balance, make noise that they are crypto investors, etc. I don't naively believe all of those guys are rich but doing so, they put themselves under more eyes, observation and risk.

Risk of steal their coins online via hacks or in real life.
2902  Other / Off-topic / Re: Don't Have Goals on: November 02, 2021, 12:39:51 PM
Altcoins come and go. Potential projects and stay on top rankings today can fall to the middle of table and out of top 50 on marketcap. It is regarding to good projects that have real development and products.

For most of potential projects which are born in bull market, they will not only fall down on ranking table but also disappear or become dead projects.

Check the screenshot for 2013 top marketcap.
2903  Other / Meta / Re: Cheaters Hunters vs Spam Busters on: November 02, 2021, 12:14:03 PM
You're wrong here: bounty campaigns who pay their bounty spammers in made-up tokens don't give a shit about being fair or post quality.
Most of projects do run their bounties like you said. They consider the forum as the landfill for them to expose their companies with garbage posts.

Quote
All they care about is to spam as much as possible on social media so they can cash in on their useless token and move on to the next one.
If they do care about reputation of their project and the cost they pay for their bounties, they will stop running their bounties shortly after they have analysis for results they gain from bounties.

The project I work for, ccFound decided to stop running bounty because their team realize that bounty hunters don't make anything good, even effect from exposure is too low, lower than what they expected.
2904  Other / Meta / Re: Post Deleted For No Good Reason on: November 01, 2021, 03:08:00 PM
I don't know whether you quoted it intentionally because it is multiple quote that makes it's hard to read. Sometimes, you can use multiple quote to keep up flow of discussion.

However, in most cases, it is better if you quote exactly the part you want to discuss with.

Multiple-quoted posts usually are garbage posts because posters did not care to spend a few seconds to highlight what they want to discuss with.
2905  Other / Meta / Re: LETTER OF APPEAL FOR PERMANENT BAN LIFT on: November 01, 2021, 02:50:43 PM
Why were you banned? Do you have any other accounts that are banned?
Copy paste, plagiarism. I know it because I made one post in that thread which was moved to trash can already.

I don't remember Nathrixx added source link or not but ETFBitcoin pointed out the source that OP used without quote (not sure about source link, as said).

So I guess it is a permanent ban because of plagiarism

Development of bitcoin
  • Nakamoto stated that work on the writing of the code for bitcoin began in 2007.
  • On 18 August 2008, he or a colleague registered the domain name bitcoin.org, and created a web site at that address.
  • On 31 October, Nakamoto published a white paper on the cryptography mailing list at metzdowd.com describing a digital cryptocurrency, titled "Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System".

People talked about Bitcoin every day, so much more than they did years ago but many of them don't know this day is the publishing day of Bitcoin's Whitepaper or they forget it.

Thanks for your reminder  Wink

2909  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Making the most from this bull run. on: October 31, 2021, 09:03:17 AM
If you believe in a project and you know it's microcap and has a lot of potential, don't just give up on it once you see 2-3x.
Good point but one more point that is misunderstood by most of investors.
  • Microcap coins don't mean they are shit coins. They are completely different.
  • Shitcoins can have microcap but they are neither hidden germs nor potential projects.
  • Small-capped projects are easier to be pumped if they can attract investment capital
  • Summary: try to find potential projects that look to be good (Whitepaper, Roadmap, team members, sponsors/ backers/ venturers. Addtionally, look at their cap
2910  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin: Understand how to use your coins on: October 31, 2021, 05:03:08 AM
It all started with discovering the futures market. High leverages!
That sounded interesting: Earn at high more than 10x more.
With Futures or Leverage tradings, it is suicide if you open your position because you hear of someone earned big with such trading types.
And if you don't read their formula about collateral and liquidations.

If you read such documents, you should know 10x is very risky.

I lost about $150,000 for wanting to be faster than time itself. Don't be stupid like I was.
$150,000 is big enough and why did you have to gamble when you already have big capital?

Answer this question and fix your own problem. People mostly gamble because they have small capital to begin with but it is not your case.

Else, I don't think it is good to gamble with what initial capital you have. Do it carefully and increase your capital gradually is better and safer. If you win big with gambling, you will lose big with gambling again. It is zero-sum game.

OP, since you are so hard at work on this subject, let me add a little tip.
Please note that there are violations on the forum, such as transferring merits to your alternate account. Probably many have forgotten or do not know about it. But, DT members have repeatedly added negative marks to users' trusts for such violations. Users sooner or later identify their alternatives, there are many ways to find such accounts, and subsequently, some are very upset about their negative trust.
Therefore, it is not recommended to resort to such dishonest tricks.

Quote from: nakamura12 on August 07, 2021, 01:36:33 PM
I think op should add this one on the list. I do noticed that many forum users have forgotten, didn't know or still remember but didn't mentioned it. Well, I have something to add about this violation since you mentioned about it and I let op add the reason why, this is because it can defeat the purpose of merit system. We all know that theymos implemented this merit system to prevent spammers, shitposter and many more to avoid the ranking up. Take bounty hunters as example, did you see any bounty hunters rank up or received merits many times?.
What are these? Did you mistakenly post it or did you not know how to quote it appropriately?
2913  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Be careful downloading files from mail with the content free Bitcoin offer. on: October 25, 2021, 06:54:17 AM
Generally, I don't click on my email (inbox) if
  • It is from a stranger.
  • If it is from person I know but the link is strange
  • If it is offer is about money (whatever it is: airdrop, giveaway, bonus) and is from a strange website.
  • Nowadays, who do really give away Bitcoin?
2914  Other / Meta / Re: Newbies/Newcomers Knowledge is better than merits. on: October 25, 2021, 06:47:42 AM
Again, another topic about merit and knowledge. I don't think it is necessary because with Search (by Google or forum's search function), you can find abundant topics about merit, knowledge and how to rank up.

Additionally, if you want to teach newbies, please move this topic to Beginners & Help

2915  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Coinmarketcap hack leaked 3.1 million emails! on: October 25, 2021, 02:27:42 AM
A little bit worried because I used my email here in Bitcointalk that linked to Coinmarketcap and I think it needs to change.
Please make sure you stake your message for your account in Stake your Bitcoin address here. It is as same as with email, to be safe, just in case, you should use an empty wallet with a single address that is used for staking.

About email, I agreed with @Lucius and I recommended too, use different emails for different use cases. If you one email for all purposes, it is too risky.

I'm not using Coinmarketcap and I don't have an account here but I do have an account on Coingecko, but this is a warning for me to change my
email on Coingecko if they can do it on Coinmarketcap they can do it to other market aggregators, this is a big blow for Binance they are running the Coinmarketcap site and people trust them for their security set up, let's see now if they can catch these hackers.
As said, use an important email for registration on any website you want AND make sure you use a different password for different email too.

Don't send back and forth emails between yours because it will create connections between your emails.
2916  Other / Meta / Re: Promoting Website- allowed? on: October 25, 2021, 02:16:39 AM
Luis leon has 12 posts (topic/thread in fact) which include article link of coin*****.com, I believe there's nothing wrong to share such a site (Am I wrong with this?).
You can report a single post or thread if it is low value. Moderators will handle your report and mostly those posts or topics have low value.

Quote
But all the other sites promote themselves in a single thread; they create an announcement & update every time they have something to share with the community but Luis leon is creating a thread every time he needs to share one of his articles. Is it okay to create a thread every time they create an article on their website? Or, they should have an ANN thread here & update on that thread?
It is not ok. You answered your question. If they want to promote their website officially, they must create a ANN thread, and do their business with it.

The fact is, I don't think they don't know about it. What they do are:
  • Ignore rules
  • Create as many threads in as many boards as possible to make as much exposure as possible to forum members.

You can report their threads if you want.
2917  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk bar chart merit race on: October 24, 2021, 02:31:20 AM
I think that The Pharmacist may be reffering to this thread - Earned Merit Race Animation - See if you ever got to top20 merited.
  • Stats – The Merit Speedy Gonzales’ of the forum
  • Total earned merit is a good factor to assess quality and contribution of members but it is not reflected all things behind.
  • The increase of earned merit rate (by using rate, I meant the increase over a specified period of time) is a better indicator to assess the level of growth and contribution between users over specific period. The topic of @DdmrDdmr is helpful in this aspect
  • The animation of @coinlocket$shows it too - if you notice the changes. DdmrDdmr and o_l_e_l_o had good rates, then DdmrDdmr were slow down. Recent months, we are witnessing the super fast growing of @fillippone and @Ratimov
2918  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Truth about burning off coins on: October 24, 2021, 02:07:53 AM
Burning off coins, everything newbies want to hear about this days, even if a shitcoin introduced a burn feature newbies will start FOMOing on this, the truth about burning supplies is complicated
It is psychological effect. With altcoins, that effects should be bigger - especially in bull market - because they can burn 20%, 50% of their total supply. With Bitcoin, there is no burns but its 4-year halvings attract new investors, create FOMO effects and with support from social media & government ban events, we have more investors then diamond hands each year. Together, it helps Bitcoin to have big bull run each 4 years.

Quote
Burning features shouldn't come first, good utility should take the front.
This. Initially, features make sense. You can not say a coin with total supply at 10M will have higher price than coin with 50M in total supply. What usecases of those projects will decide prices, not total supply.

Total supply has its meaning because it attributes to the marketcap of one project, that in turn will show us how big or small a project is in marketcap. This cause to the level of difficulty to manipulate its price and it is what market makers consider.
2919  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin, the only currency of people with unity on: October 24, 2021, 02:00:38 AM
Bitcoin maximalists are attacking shitcoins and banks all the time. And even inside Bitcoin community there was a large schism when big blockers split off to start their own coins.
I disagree with them. Bitcoin is the biggest cryptocurrency. The first successful cryptocurrency on Earth and we can not deny its importance in the evolution of blockchain technology and the crypto space.

However, it is unfair and unrealistic to say Bitcoin is here to beat banks and altcoins or to replace banks completely or to kill altcoins. In any aspect of society, we need multiple components to fight with each other in order to create motivation for growth. Without banks, we don't have Bitcoin. Without Bitcoin, we don't have altcoins and so on. They will co-exist in human society. Bad projects will die definitely.
