2961  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: John Hathaway's summary: Bitcoin is Garbage on: October 23, 2017, 08:58:25 AM
it is funny how "garbage" takes all the time of many people who can not stop talking about it.

I mean you don't hear them talk about shitcoin, gaycoin, analcoin, pumpcoin,... (these are not funny names, they are real coins that do exist). but they keep talking about bitcoin which is apparently garbage.

the even funnier part is that in the future we always find out that the same people have been investing in this so called garbage as much as they could in the present time.
2962  Economy / Speculation / Re: The Crash! on: October 22, 2017, 09:20:31 AM
1- Only bitcoin from all cryptocurrency is moving far far away from all other coins.
what other "coins"?
you mean those useless tokens that are being traded only and call themselves "coin"!
how can something follow bitcoin when they have no usage apart from being traded and nobody knows about them apart from bitcoiners who want to invest their bitcoin?

Quote
2- Ether is moving slowly up and steady.
adoption is not always a slow process. it is sometimes faster and sometimes slower.

Quote
3- As we are all aware 2/3 of all high profile ICO either are scams, or legally scams to be announced.
4- At least 3 from $50m + raised ICO are having problem executing!
this has nothing to do with bitcoin.

Quote
5- EXCHANGES..EXCHANGES...EXCHANGES...THESE ARE THE TICKING BOMBS..
yes but last time the biggest bitcoin exchange (bitfinex) was hacked the "crash" was a tiny one which lasted less than a month.

what else you've got?
2963  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Brace yourself winter is coming. on: October 22, 2017, 09:14:38 AM
if the winters of Westeros was also like winters of bitcoin then they wouldn't need the wall nor the nights watch. we should call George R. R. Martin to have that in mind when writing "The Winds of Winter". maybe in the middle of the fight with the Others we find out "winter" was all FUD for Little Finger to buy more coins Cheesy

And the willybot would be the one that is teleporting armies around westeros , right?
And the characters that disappear like donkeys in the fog would be the darkweb markets Smiley).
Unfortunately this analogy will make Satoshi the Mad King cause everything started because of him and his premonitions.

They've already killed poor Aerys II with a dagger in his back. They even killed the Usurper Robert Baratheon with a boar in his belly. now the Tommen Baratheon, protector of the realm sits on the iron throne with swords in his back like forks. and nobody uses donkeys anymore in kings landing. they are the mount of the wildlings which choose alternative ways.

Each bitcoins fork makes bitcoins price goes higher; I wouldn’t be surprised if we see a few more forks next year also
Each speculation that forks will bring helicopter money makes the price go higher.
Once those coins derived from forks will start showing their true value (big fat 0) the forks  will stop influencing the price.
they bring helicopter money but the money doesn't fly in bitcoin. those who want bitcoin will sell their fork for bitcoin directly not indirectly using a fiat.
that is why they don't affect the price after the fork but may affect it before.
2964  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin (BTC) survive an 'Industry Standard' amount of crappy forks? on: October 22, 2017, 08:57:45 AM
there are 1185 coins listed on https://coinmarketcap.com/all/views/all/ there are at least 1000 more altcoins that are currently dead and got delisted because they no longer exist in reality. do you think all these thousands of altcoins did anything to anything?!
no they just came and went. no effect on bitcoin, nothing on altcoins, zilch!

these current new fork types are also the same. they are going to be around for a while and then go away and become a page in the history books. some of them won't even make the page.

2966  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and Regulations on: October 22, 2017, 08:43:23 AM
Definitely, bitcoin has given financial freedom as well as freedom from the hands of the government to people by providing P2P system of transaction.People enjoy freedom by using bitcoins until it gets legalized and regulated by the governments. But unfortunately,we have to accept that we would have to loose this freedom when bitcoin gets regulated.

But still, unless we spend our bitcoins or convert it in to cash,it is still out of the reach of government's hand. But still,it would be a very hard work for government to regulate bitcoin exchanges and trace each and every transactions. That's why china and russia have taken a stand totally against bitcoin.

being regulated doesn't necessarily mean losing freedom. even when regulated bitcoin will remain decentralized and you will have the freedom that you had before. look at Japan for example. they have already regulated bitcoin and people have even more freedom than they had before the regulations! and now the adoption has even grown because of it.

of course with regulations there will be rules that will restrict those who want to use bitcoin for illegal activities. so that kind of freedom will be restricted.
2967  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BITCOIN GOLD VS SEGWIT 2X on: October 22, 2017, 08:37:21 AM
Its a massive change in BTC blockchain. 2 hard forks one after other.
It's good to discuss the differences and pros & cons between SEGIT2X & BTG.
It seems BTG is better than SEGWIT 2X. Open to discuss
Just a month ago this statement was quite different people were worshipping segwit2x while btg was considered quite normal but now many of the core developers have taken back their support from segwit 2x. Both of them aim at making bitcoin more effective in their own ways. But personally I think segwit 2x is really a good fork to speed up the blockchain system.

I don't remember any of the core developers ever supporting Segwit2x to now want to take it back. each of these proposals are not completely bad. they are always advantages and disadvantages to each and every one of them. sometimes there are more downsides to some of them than any good that can come out of them.

and these statements you are talking about are just different people with different opinions and speculations. I have no idea why OP is saying BTG is better though since he forgot to say "why" Tongue
2968  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Coinmarketcap advertising Ponzi site on: October 20, 2017, 10:07:52 AM
none of them care really, they just want the money and they want more traffic to get that money.
a simple ad, which is advertising a service elsewhere is nothing! coinmarketcap used to list all kinds of scam coins that were too obvious. after so many complaints they removed some and do a little more screening now.

besides, scam advertisements are not new in this world. all the so called news sites are doing it. you just have to pay the price of it!
2969  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Financial Crisis and Safe Havens on: October 20, 2017, 09:59:00 AM
A safe haven investment is undoubtedly gold/precious metal, coz you looking for safe haven it should be safe. Bitcoin has high volatility, it's good for profitable/long term investment, not for saving investment. However i think your percentage are suited for you, 30:70. you (and me too) are still young, better to make huge money before we get old Grin

it is just that bitcoin is young! and infant even.
we can not really expect something this young and small to become as big as something like gold which has been around for a very long time, ever since people were still riding horses around!!
it can not yet be a safe haven, but it is a very profitable investment exactly because of that. the volatility only shows the size of the market, the rise shows the adoption and the non stop rise for years shows the adoption doesn't want to stop any time soon.
2970  Economy / Speculation / Re: Drug Money and the Rise and Rise of Bitcoin on: October 20, 2017, 09:43:58 AM
I love google: https://www.google.com/search?q=how+much+money+does+drug+cartel+make
it tells me they are making $39 billion in a year and that is for 2008 (2009 reporting last year). the volume that goes in and out of bitcoin is not even close to that number.
if 30-40 billion dollar were to be injected in bitcoin, price would have been at $1,000,000 already. not to mention that all the drug lords would have been behind bars since all their money could have been traced easily.
2971  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Surging Means New Storage Fears as Users Take Extreme Measures on: October 20, 2017, 09:37:35 AM
using a third party like XAPO, no matter how safe they claim to be and how deep their vault goes in the mountain is not a safe way of storing bitcoin and it certainly is not "extreme measure" it is an idiotic measure if you ask me.
services like XAPO, COinbase or any other one that does the same, are good and useful but they are NEVER good for storing your bitcoin.

in fact we created bitcoin so that we no longer need any of these third parties to shore our money for us! using them means going back to before where we started!
2972  Economy / Speculation / Re: Reasons Why Bitcoin Price Drops on: October 20, 2017, 09:22:44 AM
the drops so far have always been two things: corrections and panic.

corrections are a natural course of any market. that whenever price rises, it comes down afterwards. this happens when investors buy bitcoin and as the price goes up they sell to take the profit so it comes down. the corrections are never big. they are small portion of the previous rise. for example price rises $200 then corrects by $10.

panic is another matter, it usually because of manipulation, some fake news, or some exaggerated news and because of what we call "FUD" (fear uncertainty and doubt). and since the market is small and orderbooks of exchanges are not that big, the panic sell causes a bigger drop.
2973  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC speculation before fork on: October 19, 2017, 09:54:34 AM
where do you guys see the price? will it break 6k or will it back to 5200-5400$ and settle there for some time?

It will hover around $5500-6000 by next week. It is already back to $5500 after the dip from yesterday. It will break $6000 by November and continue to increase little by little till the year ends. The fork will not affect bitcoin that much.

I wouldn't be too fast about speculating about price in November, things are very unpredictable in that regard in my opinion. the fork which is going to be in November is the SegWit2x fork and that is a serious one and not at all like the bitcoin gold premined altcoin thing.
and because of that it can have much more significant effects on the market. the fear of splitting bitcoin is always something that can cause turbulence.
2974  Economy / Speculation / Re: Healthy Pullback? Bitcoin Price Dips Back Below $5,300 on: October 19, 2017, 09:10:34 AM
these pullbacks are not only healthy but also necessary for the market to take a breath and correct itself. after each rise there should be something like this and it has always been so far. and this was one of the tiniest pullbacks so far with about 5% correction!

and since we don't have any kind of news so far to cause any kind of FUD and drop, this was 100% sure a correction and as you can see the recovery from the correction is also already done. Wink
2975  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should I Invest On Bitcoin Before Upcoming Hard Fork? on: October 19, 2017, 08:59:20 AM
you shouldn't really ask financial advice on a forum like this.
instead go to bitcoin.org, and other resources and start reading up on bitcoin. read the bitcoin white paper and try to understand what bitcoin is. read up on bitcoin's supply and how it is supposed to be distributed.
it is going to be a journey of learning but when you get more familiar with bitcoin you either find it useful and with a lot of potential (like me) and start buying it without paying much attention to short term drama. or you don't like it and stay away.
2976  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: B2X is real Bitcoin? on: October 19, 2017, 08:52:15 AM
BTC divided to BTC and BCC, and will be divided to BTG and B2X.
No, bitcoin was never "divided" to anything. they just created an altcoin and called it BCC (bitcoin cash). they are also creating another altcoin soon and call it bitcoin gold.
they have been creating lots of other altcoins and were calling it different names, like bitcoin core (BTX), litecoin (LTC), and about 500 others.

all the while bitcoin remains bitcoin. one and only.

1. B2X will become real bitcoin?
we'll have to wait and see Wink

2. More BT* will appear  in future?
there have been lots of BT* so far and there will be so much more in the future also!
2977  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Coming Fork(s) Safety For BItcoins on: October 19, 2017, 08:41:07 AM
If you have your private key stored, you're perfectly fine.
You can import this any moment in any Bitcoin wallet client, make sure it is verified safe. You can find a whole list here: https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet. So uninstalling won't be a problem as long as you have your private key stored. The fork can not accidentally change your BTC to BTG, the fork is a copy of Bitcoin's current blockchain which will split after 25 October. Every BTC you have now will correspond to one BTG. Both wallets will have the same private key, so make sure you import it to a verified BTG client. Otherwise your key can get stolen. A good solution for this is sending your BTC to a new wallet after 25 October and then importing the old wallet key in a BTG client. The safest wallet is just personal preference, Armory is in my opinion the safest wallet. But it is quite complicated. Electrum or Core are more user friendly.
That seems to be a prett good point to me about sending your BTC to a newly generated address after a fork, one other small point, that may or may not be practical is, if possible to avoid making transactions around the time of the fork.
Two or three days before the fork , exchange and other site, that transact with bitcoin cease to transact so we can expect transaction to slow down before the october 25 fork just like what happen last August when Bitcoincash was released

To be honest i dont think this will slow down anything. We dont have any exchange that is confirmed that it will do this as well we dont have any wallet, then main question is if this is happening in few days who will get it when there is no wallet. For bitcoincash it was well announced but here no words at all.

for bitcoin cash it was announced fast because big pockets are supporting it and they have lots of money to spend and they also communicated better with exchanges and others. BTG in comparison is not communicating well and also it lacks the financial support to be able to advertise it like that or even list it on exchanges with bribes.

but don't worry it will be listed soon enough. I expect exchanges like bitfinex, yobit and couple of greedy ones add it on the first day and then if it can gain a half decent volume, poloniex, bittrex, and others will also add it.
2978  Economy / Speculation / Re: This guy predicts bitcoin to be $20,000 in 2 years. What do you think? on: October 19, 2017, 08:34:21 AM
haha, the kids these days!

what OP puts in his post is a clear advertisement by a bag holder of altcoins and thinks people are too dumb enough not to figure it out.
many are like it though, they think if they hold some shitcoins like Dash and ETH and XRP they will become rich just because bitcoin price is rising they should follow! but the reality, or the ugly truth is that most of these altcons won't even exist in 2 years let alone be worth that much.
ETH to $15000 was the funniest of all the list though Grin
2979  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wallet is the weakest link? on: October 19, 2017, 08:27:47 AM
For non-technical holders of BTC (i.e. the mass of the BTC population), the risk of inanonymity and centralisation still there: as they have to entirely rely on their wallet providers? If such wallet providers are hacked or meddled with their users, the users won't have anyway to protect themselves or anyone to make a claim on? Their fund in BTC is entire at the mercy of the wallets?

How you think BTC would work for the ordinary people in the future to replace their current existing financial assets and management with fiat currencies?

there is no such thing called "wallet providers" in bitcoin. don't confuse the centralized cervices such as coinbase and xapo with a bitcoin wallet, they are not at all a wallet.

and about the rest of the wallet, what you may call "wallet provider" is a completely open source and peer reviewed and tested code which handles the wallet security. there can not be any issues in the old wallets that have been around for a while. also "hack" is meaningless for such projects that are open source. you download the source and you protect yourself from then on.
2980  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bittrex on: October 18, 2017, 06:17:35 PM
Technically speaking, this is a good move on the part of Bittrex. I mean requiring identification only further legitimizes their business.

If you read up on the numerous recent threads there are more than enough fully verified people in non evil countries who've been locked out of their accounts too.

Normally I'd assume that the whiners were incompetent or dishonest, but there are so many of them coming from so many different channels that it's clear something very abnormal is going on.

your country should not matter when you already had an account and were trading and also depositing and also withdrawing fine! and doing all that for years.
if they changed their mind about their rules it is not the users' fault, their accounts should not be banned nor closed, they should have been given a warning so that they could withdraw and leave bittrex! and the rest who were fine with the "new rules" stuck around.
