I hope we get trading next week. It will be messy. Something like 9,500,000 shares and only 3btc buys just now.
Every man for himself.  Kiss

At the same time there are less than 10k shares being offered below 0.0025 - so there are not that many sellers either. 10k is less than 3% of the market on CT.

A huge increase in the tradeable volume on CT will close the spread (distance between Asks and Bids) but the price could remain roughly where it is. There are not many willing to sell below 0.0025 and at the same time there are not huge numbers willing to buy. But anyone wishing to get in for say 50k shares is not able to right now as they would have to pay all the way up to 0.1BTC per share for the first 30k - after that the sell side is empty.

So the current thin market is restricting big buyers/Bullish investors from getting in. Only when all 10Mill are up and there is liquidity and market depth will big buyers be able to start buying. Sellers will meet buyers and that's trading.

That could be an expensive gamble to take? Mining in a datacentre in the US - I think the IRS would claim they are due their share and a year down the road we could be hit with a big tax bill?

Is there precedent for off-shore registered but domestically trading companies successfully avoiding tax in the US?
303  Economy / Securities / Re: [ActiveMining] Official Shareholder Discussion Thread [Moderated] on: April 02, 2014, 11:01:33 PM
Q1) Would the ACtM data centre/s be better located in Canada to avoid paying tax on the mined coins?

Q2) The US IRS says taxation applies to coins mined in the past - so Ken has to pay 20% on the coins mined already?
304  Economy / Speculation / Re: China or No China, Here's My Prediction for the Long-Term... on: April 02, 2014, 02:37:59 PM
They do not like volatility in their invesstment portfolio.

Forgetting the spelling, what on Earth are you on about? Have you done any research into the methodologies of high performance Funds?

Institutions often put a percentage of their money into high-risk high-gain propositions. It is actually a central strategy and allows for significant profits by risking just a small percentage of the fund. And most do well by taking the calculated risks that allow them to out-perform the general market (Top 100 etc). Fund managing is all about managing high risk and low risk strategies in combination. High volatility in a deep market means there is potential for big gains and big investors love those two things in combination. However there needs to be strong and robust methods of exchange before big bucks will come in. They need to know they can exit a large position at market price with low levels of slippage and that sort of exchange situation/market depth does not exist. It needs to be built and it will be through 2014.
305  Economy / Securities / Re: Neo & Bee talk (spam free thread) on: April 02, 2014, 02:00:07 PM
MP should buy Neo and Bee and be the next CEO.

Yep I agree, and when the Cypriot authorities see who he is they will shut the company down and hand him over the the FBI. Great idea.

If you are familiar with Mr Manson and his time in San Quentin you should have some sort of idea what's coming to you. If you can get your hands on a guitar do it - otherwise don't expect too many TV crew visits and, as always, there will be another parole hearing a few years down the line.
307  Economy / Securities / Re: MPEx owner in danger of being extradited to US to face charges on: April 02, 2014, 01:36:11 PM
Does this sound familiar?

'Romanian notoriety

In a recorded conversation, the FBI said Mr Popescu boasted that he was "beyond the reach" of US authorities.
Romania has gained increasing notoriety as a hub for cybercrime.'

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-24662263

MP> Tell me what law I've broken?
FBI> How long you got?
MP> BTC isn't REAL money you know?
FBI> Just watch your head getting into the van.
308  Economy / Securities / Re: MPEx owner in danger of being extradited to US to face charges on: April 02, 2014, 01:23:45 PM
Marcel Popescu aka NotLambchop -

continuing your illegal commercial attacks on legitimate US businessmen and their companies will do you no favours. Infact quite the opposite. Enjoy your time at US hospitality.

Edit what giant pic? It's the FBI wanted poster. You should be careful about criticizing the FBI's choice of typeface.
309  Economy / Securities / Re: MPEx owner in danger of being extradited to US to face charges on: April 02, 2014, 01:08:34 PM
Looks like the FBI do a LOT of work in Romania.

'TUESDAY, APRIL 06, 2010
70 Romanian Phishers & Fraudsters Arrested

On March 4th, FBI Director Robert Mueller was given a speech on Cybercrime to the RSA conference where he mentioned that:

"And we have worked with the Romanian National Police to arrest more than 100 Romanian nationals in the past 18 months. Four years ago, several American companies threatened to cut cyber ties with Romania because of the rampant hacking originating from that country. And yet today, Romania is one of our strongest partners."'

He has already perfected that 'convict look' - prison is the natural place for him.

But I don't know which look I prefer - 'convict' or 'Borat'?

China is no longer being sold in China - it's official ya'll.

Not sure how this will effect the price of BitCoin.
315  Other / Off-topic / Re: HULL on: April 01, 2014, 09:42:18 PM
That is the nicest picture of Hull I could find. No joke. Never been there but it has been repeatedly voted No1 in the Crap Towns of the UK survey!

It's great that a local Council is adopting a Digital Currency - but why did it have to be HULL? Of ALL the places. Feckin HULL!

316  Economy / Securities / Re: -ActiveMining Hangout- (and discussion) thread on: April 01, 2014, 08:58:40 PM
GOOD!

Please lets not debate the details in here - this is the FUN thread remember?
Why let such inconsequential things as facts get in the way of having a good time?!!!

You might get hit by a bus tomorrow remember, that is also a fact!

OK who wants some beer? Can someone order pizza too? Pay in USD though cause BTC is on it's way UP.
317  Economy / Securities / Re: [ActiveMining] Official Shareholder Discussion Thread [Moderated] on: April 01, 2014, 08:53:05 PM
Where do you see the price headed? I'm very excited as well. I hope to see it blast past the ATH from BitFunder which was 0.0075 per share.

Early days yet but never forget shares = divs. We could still be a big player (and a big player is just 1% and above in this multi-Billion dollar market) in 5 years time and 5 years of regular divs from company profits will be worth a lot more than you will be able to sell your shares for in year 1.

But I agree the ATH was just speculation, if this solid news continues the ATH will likely be a new floor and we will trade above it. 0.007 on the 10Mill public shares only values the company at 30Mill USD. If we get a good reputation for selling in-stock equipment we can sell that value of gear in just a few months based on our previous sales figures.

btw if you are REALLY excited check out the Hangout thread and post up a few vids or whatever.
318  Economy / Securities / Re: [ActiveMining] Official Shareholder Discussion Thread [Moderated] on: April 01, 2014, 08:33:53 PM
Or you could just buy Bitcoins and not mine and make that same amount of money when the price of the coins increase.

No, if you mine the idea is you get xBTC more back than you payed out. So you might pay 20BTC for equipment which will mine you 25BTC within 8-12months.

If BTC stays flat you make 25% on your money, if it goes up you make x multiplied by the new higher value so the more BTC goes up the higher your profit margin over just holding.

So:

If 20BTC = 10k if you hold and BTC stays level after a year you still have have $10k
If you mine and BTC stays the same then in a year you have + 25% which is $12.5k so 2.5k 'profit'

If you hold and BTC goes up 200% (to 1.5k) then you will have 20x1500 = $30k so $20k 'profit'
If you mine and BTC goes up 200% (to 1.5k) then you will have 25x1500  = $37500 so $27.5k 'profit'

320  Economy / Securities / Re: [ActiveMining] Official Shareholder Discussion Thread [Moderated] on: April 01, 2014, 07:38:24 PM
A year of mining with fair difficulty jumps would only ever net you about 4.8-5.0 BTC, of which 1.5BTC (at current prices) is needed to cover power costs

You could be right, I'm not a miner and the calculator (bitcoinx) might not include enough difficulty increase. I suppose economies of scale come into it. If you invested 50BTC today and ended up with 65BTC after expenses in 12months you have made 15BTC. IF BTC is only $400 in 12 months you might be break-even in dollar terms. If BTC is 3k in 12months.....you have made a cool $45k.

And so it goes on, if BTC is $10k in 5 years you will have made $150k profit from the 10 cards that you had in the corner of your back-room in 2014-2015.
