301  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: September 10, 2021, 07:19:23 AM
Hahaha, women's cricket matches are a lot of fun. Most matches are one-sided. Even the performance of the top 10 teams in the ICC rankings is not stable. The entire women's cricket world is ruled by Australia. Their performance is very stable. I don't remember the last time they lost a series.

Australia and England are very strong as far as women's game is considered, because the cricket boards (CA and ECB) have invested heavily in to the women's game. England has both the franchise T20 tournament at county level and Hundred trophy for women, while the Australians have BBL. On the other hand, the BCCI has refused to start WIPL, because they believe that it will have a negative impact on the popularity of the IPL. Under such a scenario, I guess Australia and England would continue to dominate the women's game.

The final and most interesting test  match will between England and India will start in a few hours from now. Man, i am excited about it.  Smiley

Could India win this series 3-1 or England should be able to draw it 1-1. I think it will be more justifiable based upon the both team performances, that the series is drawn.

You mean England drawing by 2-2? England would have won the matches, but they lost their composure in between. They got excellent starts in all of the matches so far, but at crucial stages they floundered and gave away that advantage. Giving away 100 run partnership for 9th wicket happens once in a while to all the teams. But for England it happened multiple times so far in this series. That shows a lack of planning and poor captaincy. Kohli was under fire before this series. But he has made a strong comeback (I am talking about captaincy, and not about batting).
303  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 7th September 2021 Bitcoin becomes legal tender first in history on: September 09, 2021, 06:53:00 AM
We may not yet see the impact of the first adoption of bitcoin as a legal tender in history of cryptocurrency today but this is so far the biggest milestone that cryptocurrency have gone so far. The thought that there is a certain country that pave the way to become a cryptocurrency legally used in their economy will be a beginning for a more milestone of bitcoin. El Salvador may not be one of the powerful country today but the good thing about it is that the government of this country were open to adopt for a new technology of finances then who would've thought this country will become in the following years.

Usually there is a lag in the market prices of Bitcoin and the important milestones. Remember what happened after the block reward halving? The halving happened in May 2020, but the rally occurred in October (and even then it was due to the trigger from PayPal). So I am not expecting another rally sometime soon. Maybe that will happen after a few months, by 2022. For me, it doesn't matter much. I am OK even if the rally occurs in 2023 or 2024. Because I can wait for a few years.
304  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: El Salvador has become the first country to make #Bitcoin legal tender! 🇸🇻 on: September 09, 2021, 04:26:44 AM
Undoubtedly, this is another landmark in the history of Bitcoin. I'm almost sure the government of El Salvador made the right decision. I believe that these 550 BTC which were purchased at the current price of 45000 USD will double their dollar value over the next four years. Nayib Bukele is a great Bitcoin proponent.

Now El Salvador has begun to diversify its financial assets and reserves. Perhaps other countries will follow suit. I think the International Monetary Fund is unlikely to help them with this.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is a fiat-based organization. It will be ridiculous to expect them to approve this initiative. And this is also the reason why I was surprised when El Salvador asked the World Bank to help them with the implementation of Bitcoin as the legal tender. IMF, World Bank.etc are organizations that deal with fiat currency. What is the point in asking them to get involved with cryptocurrency?

Now regarding the Bitcoin purchase by El Salvador, in the long term it will obviously bring benefits for them. But I am more worried about short term fluctuations. The next presidential election is due in 2024. Hopefully BTC will be in six digits by then.
305  Economy / Economics / Re: After 1 year of Covid 19 Virus on: September 08, 2021, 06:05:12 AM
The pandemic does make us have to get used to new habits and so far I think we can adapt well,
besides that we can see that since the pandemic some people have lost their jobs,
Of course it is not an easy condition to accept and I hope the government can provide a solution regarding this problem

The government can't provide jobs and livelihoods to billions of people. Maybe for a limited period (up to 3 months), they can provide some form of unemployment benefit. But the individual need to find a new job during this time frame. I have noticed that a lot of people just refuse to do jobs that require hard-work, even if they are unemployed. For such people, it is not the responsibility of the government to provide jobs. They have made a choice on their own, and now they are solely responsible for their actions.
306  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar - UEFA Qualifiers on: September 08, 2021, 05:51:39 AM
I think the most surprising result was the tie between the Republic of Ireland and Serbia. I think all bookmakers would say Serbia would win the game, but they ended up tied 1-1. Thus Portugal is isolated in the leadership of the group.

I was quite happy when I learnt that Portugal now tops Group A. Before yesterday, they were at the second place, behind Serbia (due to goal difference). Now they have 13 points and Serbia is having 11. It would have been unimaginable, if Portugal somehow misses the qualification to Qatar 2022. Because this is supposed to be the last world cup outing for Cristiano Ronaldo. Hopefully Serbia can still qualify for the world cup even if they get relegated to the second position (3 out of the 10 second placed teams would qualify).
307  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar - UEFA Qualifiers on: September 07, 2021, 03:57:12 AM
I'm favoring Italy and France both in their next games. They both got draws two times in a row recently against weaker opponents. This is really unacceptable considering the fans especially. I think that it is the compensating time for both of these teams. France should be able to defeat Finland with at least 2-goal difference. And Italy should be able to demolish Lithuania with at least a 3 or 4-goal difference.

For Italy, it is going to be easy, as Lithuania has not been performing up to the mark recently (they have lost all 4 of their group matches so far). But Finland is a strong side and they have a history of upsetting top sides. On top of that, France also seems to be in poor form, and that was evident during the Euro cup as well. They had a draw against Ukraine in the first match of the qualifiers, and then managed to defeat Bosnia and Herzegovina by the narrowest of the margins (before drawing against them at home). The last match also ended in a draw (away match, against Ukraine).
308  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Uk most deprived areas have the Highest number of gambling outlets. on: September 07, 2021, 03:45:09 AM
If it's a deprived area then they should have to create more jobs on that area in the first place or boost the economic activity. It's a shame that they are into gambling outlets instead.

Gambling joints generate jobs. Do you have any doubt regarding that? And in all probability, the jobs generated by these joints will be taken up by the residents, while a majority of the gamblers will come from outside these neighborhoods. Opposing each and every productive activity is not going to work. You can't drive away the few industries that are willing to invest their money in these areas. If legal gambling joints are not set up in these places, then the illegal joints will replace them and they will cause much more harm to the residents.
309  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Canelo Alvarez vs Caleb Plant on: September 06, 2021, 06:23:15 AM
Right, and now that he has Canelo's attention, it will be very bad for Caleb for bringing this as this is provoking Canelo. Alvarez has seen a lot and for sure he was not affected by it. And worst this can be his final motivation to really put a punishment on Caleb's big mouth. I'm seeing the best version of Canelo is this fight and I will not be surprised if the fight doesn't last a distance. So Caleb better be prepared now that he uses this strategy that will backfire on him.

Caleb has an enviable record in professional boxing until now (12 KOs out of his 21 wins, with no losses). But he has never faced an opponent of the caliber of Canelo. His last three opponents were Caleb Truax, Vincent Feigenbutz and Mike Lee (all three faced him for the IBF super middleweight title). These opponents can't even be compared to Canelo. And Caleb has again made some controversial statements. It is interesting that I haven't heard much from Canelo for the last few days. Caleb has been doing all the talk.
310  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar - UEFA Qualifiers on: September 06, 2021, 06:12:27 AM
I want to see CR7 play in the 2022 World Cup which may be his last world cup performance before he retires. I tip Portugal, Croatia and Netherlands to secure the last 3 spots.

Those are the standings as of now. By the time the group stage comes to an end, I expect Portugal to top the Group A (right now both Serbia and Portugal have 10 points from 4 matches, but Serbia is ahead as a result of better goal difference). If Portugal somehow misses the boat to Doha in 2022, then a lot of people will be disappointed. As you have correctly pointed out, it may be the last world cup appearance for Cristiano Ronaldo. He's already 36 years old and I don't think that he will continue playing until 2026.
311  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: September 05, 2021, 05:11:44 PM
I agree with you somewhat. South Africa's top order is a bit stronger. But since their lower order is very weak, the top order batsmen play very carefully, resulting in their strike rate being less than 100 most of the time. Which makes it very difficult to make a large collection. Overall, if we consider this, the batting lineup should be called weak. And it is not possible to predict which batsman in the Sri Lankan squad will become destructive.

Sri Lankan curators have prepared spin-friendly tracks to help the local spinners and I don't expect either of the teams to score in excess of 300. In both the matches, South Africa made 280 plus. They lost the first match and won the second one. For the Sri Lankans, this presets a dilemma. If they make the pitch too much spin-friendly, then Tabraiz Shamsi and Keshav Maharaj will destroy their batsmen. If they make them too flat, then Janneman Malan and Aiden Markram will destroy their spinners.
312  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcoin betting on the 2024 US Presidential Election | Biden+Harris Vs ?? ?? on: September 05, 2021, 02:05:37 PM
I wonder what would be Biden's plan now that the Taliban is back and they are back in full force, Biden should counter what Taliban is going to bring the Al Queda will have a stronghold here if he made a bad decision on dealing with the Taliban the impeachment will get strong support, the Taliban will be Biden's biggest headache and he might lose his chance to get re-elected.

Biden is already 79 and he is not thinking about a re-election at this point. But he needs to be careful with his policies on the Taliban. Because senate and house elections are due in 2022 and Democrats need a strong performance in these elections because they want to fill the SCOTUS vacancies with far-left judges. Actually they were in a strong position, especially in states such as Pennsylvania, Georgia, Arizona and Nevada. But recent debacle in Afghanistan just swung the momentum towards the GOP.
313  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Afghanistan replace afghan currency with Bitcoin? on: September 05, 2021, 01:52:15 PM
Do you really think the Taliban will allow a western technology that has to run on very modern technology, to replace their Fiat currency? These guys kill women that wants to go to school... ffs!

Just remember one thing... these guys wants to control every aspect of citizens life in that country and they have zero control over Crypto currencies. They also know that they can only rule over uneducated people, because their power comes from people who cannot and who are not allowed to think for themselves.

Bitcoin cannot save those people... not even the USA could with all of their wealth and support.  Roll Eyes

It is foolish to expect that these guys would take a favorable stance towards Bitcoin and cryptocurrency, when they have banned even music, dance and sports. When Islamic state conquered vast swathes of Iraq and Syria, they tried to replace fiat currency (Syrian Pound/Iraqi Dinar) with gold, silver and copper coins, since the ISIS regarded fiat currency as un-Islamic. I am not sure whether Taliban would try to the same or not. From what I can say, there is not much difference between the two groups.
314  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Gold or Bitcoin on: September 05, 2021, 01:37:22 PM
As a crypto enthusiast and user, I certainly choose bitcoin, because otherwise gold is only good during bad times in the global economy or panic situations in economies around the world. Also for bitcoin you have full control and liquidity whereas for gold it may not be that fast to sell it back.

Lack of liquidity has been one of the issues with gold investment. And that is the reason why I always invest in gold ETF instead of physical gold. Also, with physical gold you have to worry about your coins and bars getting stolen. Bitcoin is perhaps the only asset that is 100% portable and 100% liquid. But the issue is with it's high volatility, which decreases its attractiveness during tough times. And in difficult economic conditions, Bitcoin behave the same way as the stock market and the exchange rates may go down. That is not the case with gold.
315  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will BNB become the king of all coins on: September 05, 2021, 01:25:06 PM
Currently, BNB is one of the best investment options. However, how will the price of BNB change if the authorities increase their regulatory influence on the Binance system?

BNB was one of the best investment options 6 months ago, but I doubt whether that is the case now. A coin, that is still regarded by many of the users as an "exchange token", is currently being valued at $83 billion. There are quite a few drawbacks with BNB when you compare it to competitors such as Cardano. First one obviously is the association with the Binance exchange. Binance has seen a spike in their hostile interactions with the authorities recently. And the second concern is that BNB is centralized (which is not true, IMO).

How many runs are sufficient for an Indian win ?

I think there is a lot of pressure in the last innings so to score 300 runs won't be easy in the last innings. India needs another 50 to 60 runs and they will feel safe in the match. Another question is if india is not bowled out, at what target would they declare ?

At this rate, they can easily get a lead of 300. The 7th wicket partnership is worth 51 already and the total lead is 264 runs. They have 4 wickets in hand, so I guess we can expect the target for England to be in the 340-350 range. Once again Shardul Thakur has played a crucial role with the bat. Unfortunately that also means that both Ravichandran Ashwin and Ishant Sharma will be out of the playing XI for sometime. And 60 plus overs remain for today (4th day). So I don't expect the declaration to come anytime soon.
317  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar - UEFA Qualifiers on: September 05, 2021, 01:01:31 PM
Israel's goal was a surprise, will they be able to qualify for the World Cup, a surprise from them in the next match will be eagerly awaited.

besides Israel..Serbia and the Netherlands also scored a lot of goals, it really seems that the qualification in Europe this time is very tight.

Israel has been the surprise package in this tournament. I never expected them to get to the second position (behind Denmark). However, the problem for Israel is that their next match is against the top ranking side. Austria is also having a tough match on 7th September against Scotland. Group F is very interesting actually. Denmark is almost assured of the qualification, and the second spot is hotly contested by Israel, Austria and Scotland. Hopefully, we will get a clearer picture by Tuesday.
318  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: September 05, 2021, 12:49:14 PM
Looks as if it is all over for Bangladesh. The New Zealand spinners took wickets at the right time. Bangladesh is reeling at 47/6, with Mushfiqur Rahim still in single digits. Ajaz Patel was just unplayable (4/11 in three overs so far), with the other spinners (Rachin Ravindra and Cole McConchie) also providing good support. Preparing a spin-friendly wicket seems to have backfired on Bangladesh as the New Zealand spinners have taken all the wickets so far in the second innings. The required run rate is now 9 runs per over, which I don't think Bangladesh can manage in such a surface.
319  Economy / Economics / Re: In COVID-19 everyone needs motivation on: September 05, 2021, 12:37:54 PM
Yes, only Good motivation can change our life in COVID19 situation Cause when anyone affects Covid her all body and mental satisfaction is very important for all of us. My some familiar person is lost on Covid situation so we have to conscious too much.

Here in India, I have heard about multiple incidents of people committing suicide after getting infected with COVID. Some of them are uneducated and go by the rumors that COVID is a very deadly disease like HIV or cancer. That is not true, and the mortality rate is very low if you are not in the elderly age group, and in case you don't have any comorbidity like diabetes or hypertension. Infected individuals need to maintain a stress-free mental state, or else it will result in additional complications.
320  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: September 05, 2021, 12:25:15 PM
Virat Kohli - 44
Ravindra Jadeja - 16
Ajinkiya Rahane - 0
Now Rishab Pant and Shardul Tagore are batting. I had high expectations from Rahane and Kohli. But they are disappointed. If India lose all their wickets by less than 400 runs, they will not be able to win the match. Even less likely to draw.

LOL.. 400 runs means a lead of 301. They can easily win, IMO. Even 240-250 is going to be enough (and India already has a lead of 230 runs). England is on backfoot here. Any runs from now on would be a bonus. And despite the initial hiccups, it looks as if Rishabh Pant and Shardul Thakur have settled down. Partnership between these two have so far added 17 runs in 7 overs. Another 15-20 runs should be enough for India to win this match. Honestly, I don't think that England would be able to chase anything above 250.
