If it is a DDOS again it is probably due to the high price of LTC than continued NVC support. NVC came crashing down at the same time that Khaos changed his Khore pool to payout at 120 confirmations rather than 520.
Then again last time this happened because of LTC, litecoinpool was DDOS attacked as well so maybe it is something else.
Could you explain the bolded text It happened before when the BTC block reward halved. The LTC hashrate and price went up as miners moved over from BTC. Then litecoinpool and BTC-e was hit by a week long DDOS after which the extra interest that LTC had gained was lost and some more. It will not be surprising if this happens again, with the rise of ASICs, sending BTC miners venturing away from BTC to other potentially greener pastures like LTC. Are you saying that there are individuals out there masterminding these DDOS attacks to keep away new adopters of Litecoin? That's an interesting conspiracy theory, I wonder if the new exchange that is coming out from Neo is truly DDOS proof. Will be plugged on koddos network. Have huge capacity and for 200k of security hardware for DDOS protection. Add 5 years of experience to that. Then No one can claims to be be able to stop all attack of the world...Up to 150 giga attack all even best service costing you 50 k usd by month to be host will be down...But that not often you will see such attacks... Cloudfare offer an actual protection of 65 70 giga maximum in theory... ( I wont debate here why this is BS from cloudfare to pretend they have 65-70 giga capacity but well...) Its anyway a good protection they provide for their price. Btc-e shouldnt be offline....Then the NVC story, coinotron main nvc pool down so nobody can cashout....and then btc-e down when ltc rise and nvc fall as a owner pool changed nvc payout from 520 to 120 confirm....I can understand some here wonder what's happend and make some theory... Very nice. Haven't been able to get onto btc-e for HOURS thanks to this DDOS attack. |

My concern with ANY exchange is security, yet you mention nothing about it.
- How will you be storing the coins?
- Will anything be available for instantaneous withdrawal?
- What happens if you are hacked and lose ALL the hot-wallet coins on your server? Will you shut down and/or force the loss on your customers, or do you have enough money on-hand to cover any potential losses yourself?
- Do you have a programmer onboard with extensive experience in security?
-We have analysed many options to implement the best transaction and storage operation.The best option seems to have a web service running on a different server and communicating with it via a web data encryption protocol.The database as well will have an salted encrypted info basically AES algorithm if you may know so eliminating post data breach as much as possible.The transactions will also be a double check feature to ensure authenticity.The wallet can be on an isolated server to avoid any downtime. - Withdrawals will be manually processed in the first month in order to check our securities before to enable instant withdraw. When the instant withdraw will be enable, the wallet for withdraw will be loaded multi time daily to follow the demand of withdraw. I don't know about you guys but I've been having a hard time getting my head around this whole Ripple system stuff. I know it's the latest fad of this board but I personally think it's too complicated.
What's worse is hardly anyone on the forum seems to be certain how it all works (at least that's my experience when I see someone asks for help and no-one knows the answer until someone comes along with a 400 word essay of gobbledegook).
But my ignorance aside what sealed the deal for me is the amount of money the founders are set to make from it. You can almost feel the greed surrounded by this Ripple stuff.

Litecoins have been shooting up in value and I want to mine some, as I figure I won't need expensive equipment to turn a decent profit unlike bitcoins? Is there any easy way to estimate how many litecoins I can earn per day? And what about bitcoins? No that's just the site being funny. When it's down it sometimes shows a cache it's a feature of cloudflare, so you were looking at prices from 10 hours ago. This was happening to me earlier too and had me very confused until I figured out what was going on. |

I think it's still a great buy.
There's some big announcements coming soon. I know a ltc payments processor is in the works, essentially the litecoin equivalent of bitpay... this will make it easy for online stores to accept payment for goods with litecoin. Think about it, that is going to provide stimulus to the litecoin economy. Plus there's going to be people switching over from bitcoin mining to litecoin mining with the ASICS coming out. That mined money will trickle up through the litecoin economy.
I've put my money where my mouth is and own some. I don't believe in the future there will be just one virtual currency... competition springs up everywhere and is healthy and in fact desirable.

I don't see this lock but I definitely went through the encryption process once? You shouldn't need to encrypt more than once. Are you sure you didn't get the two wallets mixed up? Maybe the wallet on computer B is the one you encrypted? No but I think I have found a bug in the software. My password was extremely long, at least 30 characters. I encrypted the wallets again now with shorter passwords and this time it has worked. I tried to change the passwords to the long one and again it failed. This makes more sense because now I have to enter a passcode to send the bitcoins. I have created a new address on computer A AFTER I encrypted the wallet for the last time, as I right in thinking that is now a safe address to receive funds to? It's on a wiped computer. I have sent funds from computer A to computer B after doing this and computer B received the funds, so does everything sound good to go? |

I am using the Bitcoin qt client and I am very confused and think I have done something wrong. 1. I have two computers A and B both with Bitcoin qt client on. I have made wallets on both computers. 2. After launching Bitcoin qt client for the first time on computer A I created two addresses using the 'new address' button. I then clicked 'Encrypt Wallet' and entered a passcode. Note I only did this process once, even though I created two addresses. 3. I then transfered two test transactions to the wallet on computer A from Bitstamp. These came through as:  (don't know if anything looks wrong in that picture?) 4. I then tried my first ever test transaction and sent it to the address I created on computer B (I have never encrypted this wallet). 5. To my surprise this sent, even though I didn't have to enter any kind of passcode on computer A? Plus my address on computer B isn't even encrypted? 6. Does that mean anyone can use the funds I have in my wallet on computer A, without my passcode? 7. The status of the transaction on computer B is also, 2/unconfirmed? Is this a sign of a mistake. Also the 'from' is marked as unknown. I'm confused, please advise. Sorry for my ignorance, I am not a technically minded person but trying to adopt bit coins. |

I have to make a withdrawal from bitstamp, about 200 bitcoins. I have about 400 bitcoins on there in total.
Does anyone know how long they take to cash out to my bitcoin wallet? It says large withdrawals can take up to 24 hours due to manual orders and I need these urgently, hopefully within the next 6 hours.

The only thing that might happen is I might buy another $5k bitcoins later in the year, but I don't plant to sell any. Thanks so much |
