2261  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple is not a scam on: May 21, 2013, 05:15:39 PM
One of the top guys at Ripple gave media interview recently and he said XRP could well be competitor to Bitcoin. Do they think we are stupid? Tell us one thing on the forum - oh it's just a complement to Bitcoin it will never replace it; yet tell their investors and the media another?

Ripple have also said on record their business model is based on making the value of XRP increase. That makes them profit because they plan to keep a big chunk of XRP for themselves.

It's a profit driven enterprise, they will go wherever the profit takes them. It's centralised, the owners have most of the money, it's closed source... it goes against everything most people in the Bitcoin community believe in.
2262  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: The True Explanation of Ripple for Bitcoiners on: May 21, 2013, 11:14:11 AM
I've long been suspicious of this misterbigg guy in general. He defends Ripple to the death in every thread and so many of his replies are like freaking essays on the subject. I asked him if he was connected to the Ripple project and he said no... but I find it hard to believe he doesn't stand to gain massively from peddling his rubbish through the forum day and night. What else would drive him to do it sooo much?

But I digress.

I dislike Ripple for various reasons - closed source, dentralized, the owners hold too much of the money etc. But my biggest gripe is how so many of the shills present it as an complement to Bitcoin on the forum yet in the media the people behind it openly state they see Ripple as a competitor to Bitcoin.

And the number of times Ripple shills have said oh these XRP aren't primarily meant to be used to pay for things etc yet they say in their interviews XRP becoming valuable is their entire business model.
2263  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] WorldCoin WDC | Coin of the Future | Instant Transactions | Launched on: May 21, 2013, 07:54:48 AM

I just bought more WDC with the the cheap price.  Grin
whats cheap to you guys and what do you think should be the going rate and expected rate?
I believe WDC should be going for around .003 BTC. It has the potential to do much better when the difficulty starts getting into the hundreds eventually. It's just the miners are noobs and sell too cheaply, same thing happened to FTC and CNC when they first listed. Sure, most low difficulty coins aren't worth much. People don't get what fast transactions means.

I will give you an example, atm if you wanted to use Bitcoin for a drive though take away payment, you would have to accept zero confirmations! As you couldn't afford to hold up the line for 10min waiting, even 2.5min of LTC would be impractical. With WDC it suddenly becomes an option. Think about that.

sounds good.  now what can I buy with wdc?  can I pay a bill with it?

Be reasonable it's only been out 4 days lol...  It's not going to be used as payment for anything much until it appears on bigger exchanges and establishes itself as having staying power. Give it a few months and it will slowly start to snowball I reckon.
2264  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coins with very short block times demonstrate incompetence on: May 21, 2013, 05:06:07 AM
GeistGeld has been humming along on 15 second blocks for what, years now?

So far the biggest problem was been the huge amount of RAM needed, more even than I0Coin.

I guess in a couple of years we will find out whether the RAM usage is due to the sheer number of blocks.

Or, we could update GeistGeld's code in case maybe it has a memory leak, as I0Coin is thought to have.

+1.
2265  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Fake exchange, throwing WDC profit % off on: May 21, 2013, 04:39:47 AM
HAHAHAAH

THE COIN HAS ALREADY BEEN DUMPED

0.007

MASSIVE HASH POWER MOVEMENT BACK TO LTC

IT'S ALREADY OVER

Someone is showing their age. It's still the most profitable coin to mine dude even at this price Smiley
2266  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: With WDC now on exchanges. What do you see the future bringing? on: May 21, 2013, 04:36:55 AM
It's already over.   The big 100+ MH/sec people who took all the blocks and orphaned the fuck out of the blockchain have already cashed out

this is going to happen over and over until people learn what is going on.

literally the new feathercoin

Feathercoin is actually trading at 17 cents right now lol
2267  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coins with very short block times demonstrate incompetence on: May 21, 2013, 04:19:41 AM
Really?  WorldCoin has proven this?  Which other coin has had an entire mining pool mining on an orphan blockchain for more than 300 consecutive blocks?

The problems were reported by miners; no one lost coins in transactions, at least none were reported.
Also, the pool that took over the blockchain (erundook's) was at about 90% of the hash power since pools just started popping up and his was the most popular at the moment. Ask him.

Fortunately, we are down to only one issue which the OP didn't bring up (powpow did) and that is, will traders lose coins. I'd say 300 blocks was a good test for that.

Good post.
2268  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: please tell me why wdc is a success? on: May 20, 2013, 09:43:22 PM
We will see in 3 months. Right now is way too early to tell. It has potential, the fast transaction appeal has caught the imagination of speculators.
2269  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Offical launch of PhenixCoin.com on: May 20, 2013, 07:53:10 PM
That's a damn nice coin design you have there but this coin isn't for me
2270  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WDC just up 2Ghash !!! on: May 20, 2013, 07:01:30 PM
Really crazy to see how much Worldcoin is eating into the Litecoin Hashrate...Down to 16.3 GHs

Which is going to kill the coin unless value keeps going up to maintain its position as profit leader. What will happen is there will be an enormous amount of hash power on it that suddenly leaves when profitability falls below BTC. At that point, WorldCoin loses its instant transactions bullet point for weeks because the difficulty on it doesn't retarget fast enough.

Too bad the devs didn't take this into consideration...

Ok we get it, you're butthurt you missed the boat on this one. 3 posts in this topic bashing the coin already  Roll Eyes
2271  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Worldcoin exchange @ mcxNOW on: May 20, 2013, 06:12:27 PM
I actually prefer this exchange to bter. It's less ugly and the cashouts actually happen automatically... on bter it takes hours for me to cashout.
2272  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WDC just up 2Ghash !!! on: May 20, 2013, 05:43:11 PM
Scam coin is for coins like Feathercoin and Chinacoin which bring don't any advantages to the table, imo. Of course those coins are like scams why would someone use them over Litecoin?

WDC offers near instantaneous confirmations, something which actually gives it an advantage over Litecoins and Bitcoins. Long term who knows what could happen... that is why people are buying it.
2273  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WorldCoin on Bter.com ! on: May 20, 2013, 05:39:41 PM
Rocket time.
2274  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WDC mcxNOW, wow after all the hype it drops like a stone on: May 20, 2013, 04:19:11 PM
Super fast transactions make it a game changer. This is no useless clone like Chinacoin that adds nothing.

Prices will of course be very volatile it's a new cryptocurrency, anything could happen.
2275  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WDC mcxNOW, wow after all the hype it drops like a stone on: May 20, 2013, 04:05:36 PM
To the OP: It's already trading 60% higher on the exchange than it was trading on the forums (60% than the highest price).

YAC dropped like a rock when it hit the exchange.
2276  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WDC mcxNOW, wow after all the hype it drops like a stone on: May 20, 2013, 12:08:13 PM
I think it will go to 0.026 - .030 in the next day or so

So said people about bitbar... and feathercoin, yacoin, chinacoin, ppcoin, you name it. History does not substantiate this claim.

Bitbar's actually at .3 at the moment lol.

lol owned.

Mr_random is off to bed now, Highest bid price is 2.5 LTC/100WDC right now. Come get your LTC  Grin

I am back in a few hours guys. Stock up your worldcoins for me to buy at 3ltc/100wdc when I wake up!
2279  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [WTB] - Buying WorldCoins @ 30LTC per 1000 WDC (fast, trustworthy trades) on: May 19, 2013, 10:51:36 PM
Looks like mr_random is offline now, should I expect payment next time he comes online or have I been scammed? Undecided

Money has been sent just now. I normally send straight away, I was getting ready for bed (hence why I said I was leaving in half an hour!)

I'm a designer. If someone can provide me a big version of the official bar icon (http://bitbar.biz/addons/shared_addons/themes/bitbar/img/bitbarlogo.png) I will make a logo+banner. Smiley
The original is a free clipart that can be found here: http://www.wpclipart.com/money/gold/gold_brick.png.html

My entry:

Made in Illustrator so vector format available, can be used as very small logo and as a big one.

You bashed BitBars hard when they came out. Now there is money to be made for yourself you stop trolling them?

I like the logo and it's probably one of the best but it doesn't get a vote from me.
