2401  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is there anyway to re-launch YAC to make it fair? on: May 10, 2013, 08:06:08 PM
There are so many chains you can still mine with CPUs that making a whole new launch specially for the botnet operators seems kind of redundant. People with CPUs have plenty of coins to mine already.

They had all year to mine BBQcoin along with several others, and even though BBQcoin is now too difficult all the others are still fine for CPUs. (And when they are not, presumably like BBQcoin they will be in the phase where they pay the CPU miners who mined them all along a nice big bonus, probably more than their GPUs were making over the same months.)

What, in your opinion are the best CPU coins out there. I value your opinion because I've been reading your posts and you seem to have quite a collection of rare/semi-defunct coins you like to mine. I am quite addicted to collecting these alt coins myself but I try to keep it profitable. That said BBQ seems to have been a fluke and even then, it's not exactly setting the world alight selling for 1 cents a pop right now... It paints a nice story all these dedicated CPU BBQ miners finally receiving a handsome payoff for keeping the faith, but I don't think that is what is really occuring? Let me know what you think.

Is it too late to relaunch this coin fairly, at a pre-announced date and time?

And with difficulty not at 0?

I have 20k YAC I mined so I don't care much either way, but it would be nice to see a 'flawless' release for a coin. Has there ever been one?

So you want to relaunch YAC making your 20k disappear?

Something don't add up right here.

I don't think Litecoin being rebooted as Feathercoin caused any of my Litecoins to disappear.

If you don't believe me btw I am happy to bet 500 litecoin that I have > 15K YAC stored in my two wallets.
2402  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Feathercoin transaction stuck at 0 confirmations for the last 35 minutes? on: May 10, 2013, 07:57:48 PM
Can you PM me the transaction details and your output of getmininginfo?

PM'd you! Cheers.
2403  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is there anyway to re-launch YAC to make it fair? on: May 10, 2013, 07:50:15 PM
Bitcoin was already re-launched twice, once as Terracoin and again as Bytecoin.

-MarkM-

True. I'll add details and stop assuming people can read my mind. I mean, is the CPU mining only thing still a relevant advantage or have people figured out how to get a lot more juice out of their GPU's with it yet? In which case wouldn't that make a re-launch not as good...
2404  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Feathercoin transaction stuck at 0 confirmations for the last 35 minutes? on: May 10, 2013, 07:48:38 PM
Is this normal for Feathercoin right now or should I be worried? This is the first time I have fired up my FC client for days and it's quite a large transaction.

Anything I can do or is it a matter of waiting?

2406  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A proposed fair premine idea on: May 10, 2013, 05:19:25 PM
Anyone who creates an alt coin for the purpose of getting a profit has dubious motivations.

What does that actually mean though? If a developer brings out a new coin in the future full of innovations and took a year to code what is your objection to him profiting from his hard work?
2407  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The YACoin Superfun Premine Thread on: May 09, 2013, 08:39:54 PM
To be fair I made two separate posts querying what the starting difficulty would be in that topic and to my surprise not a single person responded or picked them up.

Everyone forgets the 'scam' claims in the run up to a coin launching and conveniently stop caring, because they hope they are going to get rich from it. As soon as they don't get rich, out come the pitchforks.

2408  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How many YAC do you have? on: May 09, 2013, 08:21:49 PM
Mined 20k on the first day.
2409  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: More child boards... on: May 09, 2013, 06:55:42 PM
Just put all the trading topics and giveaways in a separate sub-forum. Straight away that is a big chunk of the 'non-content' topics taken care of in a fair way.
2410  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coin competition is NOT healthy on: May 09, 2013, 06:25:50 PM
People are already starting to ignore coins which don't offer anything new. Royal Coin looks like it gained virtually no traction from it's launch. It's getting harder. A coin has to have a new idea now or 'twist' to get momentum... YACoin did that with the cpu mining thing. Not buying any though, I don't see the cpu mining thing lasting long

And for anything to be at parity with BTC in the first week is destined for widespread media attention.

Word. I was about to say, wait until media coverage spreads that there is an alternative cryptocurrency which isn't going for 40 cents a coin or 3 dollars a coin, but 70-90 dollars a coin. Will bring lots of attention for sure.
2412  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to mining Bitbar? on: May 09, 2013, 02:13:04 PM
This new pool came out recently - btb.ltcoin.net
2413  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][YAC] yacoin: yet another altcoin. START is now. on: May 08, 2013, 10:11:14 PM
Now all we need is a useful coin for nvidia cards too and the cryptos be set for life growth.

If you want this coin I'll just fork solidcoin2 and use their hash algorithm, as it runs similar on nVidia as compared to AMD GPUs.  But it's had no cryptanalysis so it's possible the implementation is just poor and someone will figure out a faster AMD implementation eventually.

I would be interested in this. Why not make a separate topic and see public opinion? Must be other people like me around with nvidia cards that can only mine cpu coins like Yac.
2414  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BBQCoin Pump and Dump announcement on: May 08, 2013, 09:52:36 PM
Fontas, you are not.
2415  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: YaCoin nodes and connections? on: May 08, 2013, 09:47:20 PM
Ok, I'm seeing a definite issue with my list of 8 connections then.  I'm only getting ""inbound" : false" for my connections.  I'm guessing that's probably why I'm not seeing additional peers.  I guess I'm stuck until I connect to a peer with an inbound connection.

Anyone have any ideas on this one?

I couldn't get the windows build to accept more than 8 connections, even when forwarding the port.
2416  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ★★ ▀▄▀▄▀ BITBAR on BTER now LIVE ▀▄▀▄▀ ★★ on: May 08, 2013, 08:36:11 PM
How dumb do you have to be to think that a random altcoin should be valued in some direct comparison to BTC just because it's difficult to mine? Seriously people, use your brain.

The scarcity will keep the price high. NVC is worth nothing, yet in spite of this it's priced higher than LTC simply because there isn't as much supply. People who like to diversify will want some to keep on hand as insurance or to dump during rallies.

Yeah. Mincoin is similar in that regard too. And has a lot of haters. Seems like mincoin, nvc and bitbar have more in common than just scarce supply.

2417  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ★★ ▀▄▀▄▀ BITBAR on BTER now LIVE ▀▄▀▄▀ ★★ on: May 08, 2013, 07:43:49 PM
Let's see what the free market prices them at. At the current difficulty only 20 bitbars  are made a day across the entire network... will the price reflect that... check back in 48 hours to find out  Cool
2418  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / My confirmations for YACoins are super quick. I get 6 confirms done in seconds on: May 08, 2013, 06:42:31 PM
Is this the standard? Doesn't that make this one of the fastest if not the fastest coin?

I don't understand this stuff well, so please explain if I am wrong.
2419  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Official YACOIN Orphan Blocks Thread on: May 08, 2013, 06:16:55 PM
If you guys all posted your hashrate I think you would see the answer staring you in the face.

O RLY?

JimmyFL says he has 500KH/s

Any mid-range CPU (i3) gets at least 100KH/s which is 1/5 of JimmyFL hashing power.

I have 300KH/s in total and my result is 0% good blocks.

I can tell you hashrate is at least part of it because I've been using every computer in the house to mine it. For me the pattern has been the machines with high hashrate have gotten virtually no orphans, the machines with low hashrate all orphans. That's my experience.
