2701  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: FeatherCoin - New Litecoin based coin on: April 23, 2013, 10:33:53 AM
That is most excellent. Support for this coin is coming together quick.

Would it be possible to put the source code for this under GPL and put it on feathercoin.com ? Together with a block explorer. So that everything is in one place.

For most of the other alt coins you have to go to several places to get this info - Feathercoin could stand out with everything in one place. Nice and tidy.

The plan is to bring it together under feathercoin.com. I am hoping to get most of the tools I have used for other coins on one site for FeatherCoin.

I really like what benhohner.com has done. Very nice look&feel.

It would be great if he could have some influence on feathercoin.com.

I agree, I think it's a beautifully clean and simple looking site which looks very professional. I would love him to have an impact on feathercoin.com

For people reading this here is a link to his site: http://benhohner.com/feathercoin/statistics.php

2703  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WTB 100k FeatherCoins(FCs!!) on: April 23, 2013, 10:20:54 AM
Bump Bump bump!! Any one left with FCs? Tongue Its 05:05 soon i'll head to bed... Tongue

LOL 5:05 and heading to bed. That should have been 7 hours ago  Wink

true but looking all those new WTB posts that pop up like mushrooms i need to stay awake to defend my FCs Tongue

I'm one of those new WTB posts.  I can't get a single person to even make an offer to sell me FCs Sad  These coins are being hoarded tightly.

Try raising your price.  Wink The difficulty is projected to shoot up further from 14 to 29 tomorrow making these feathers even more scarce and hard to produce.
2704  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WTB 50k FeatherCoins(FCs!!) on: April 23, 2013, 10:14:37 AM
20LTC FOR 1000'FC

Difficulty will double tomorrow. So it should be more like 35LTC FOR 1000FC

+1 .. totally agree, 35 LTC here we come   Wink

+2. Feathers are becoming more scarce because they are harder to produce. I paid above the market rate at the time I bought mine because I knew that's what you have to do to get a big bunch before the price goes up more.
2705  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: (Auction) WTB - 3500 FeatherCoin's Post Offers - on: April 22, 2013, 10:55:09 PM
It was precisely your confirmed trade that i went first. but live and learn i guess Smiley

I was suspicious that he wanted to buy 3500 Feathercoins on here after selling 2500 Feathercoins to me privately. And I made a remark in this topic. Makes sense now  Undecided
2706  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: **OFFICIAL? - My BTC-e Account Got Hacked and All Funds Stolen thread on: April 22, 2013, 10:06:34 PM
Just as a heads up to people, if you adjust your account settings so that you need to be sent an email to make a withdrawal, a hacker who gains access can't change your email address until you validate the change email request via a link sent to your email. So the hacker will need to hack your email address too. If you set up google 2 factor authentication on your email this should be nigh-on impossible unless the hacker gains access to your phone as well.

This was not the case when my account got breached, or it was just simply bypassed. My email and password were changed, and funds withdrawn.

Just an update, I can't get any responses from BTC-e support that have more than a few words of broken english, so I will consider my 4.55 BTC lost as a hard lesson learned:
if it looks like a website from the aol 5.0 era, it's probably just as secure.

Hmm. I've tested this on my account and if I have the 'Withdraw only with request on E-Mail' enabled, to then change the email address or turn off the 'Withdraw only with request on E-Mail' I have to confirm the change by email (This is the first thing I checked months back when I joined btc-e.com, because I realised otherwise it makes the whole email confirmation feature unsafe and pointless if a hacker accesses your acount). Not calling you are a liar but are you absolutely sure you had the 'Withdraw only with request on E-Mail' enabled? If I gave a hacker my password he wouldn't be able to withdraw my funds because he needs my email account to disable the withdraw protection.

Withdraw on email, in this case, is a moot point. The attacker was able to compromise my account, change my password and then change the email address on the account as demonstrated by not being able to reset my password until talking to support 24 hours later.

Withdraw on email does nothing if you can just change the email address.

If 'withdraw only with request on email' is enabled the hacker needs access to your email address to change it. That is my whole point. It's more likely to me you never had it enabled because when it's enabled on my account I can only change the email address by confirming the change by email first, why would your account be any different?
2707  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Generating a bitcoin wallet address for each user on: April 22, 2013, 09:59:12 PM
to monitor the balance of each address, either query bitcoind for the balance of the address, or query a third party api (blockexplorer, blockchain.info).

So I would keep polling bitcoind over and over to keep scanning for deposits to those addresses?  Smiley
2708  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: (Auction) WTB - 3500 FeatherCoin's Post Offers - on: April 22, 2013, 09:52:53 PM
My trade with him went fine. However, I insisted he sent first.
2709  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Generating a bitcoin wallet address for each user on: April 22, 2013, 08:42:03 PM
I am building a site and I want each user to have a unique wallet address.

I understand I can use bitcoind for this. Say I have one thousand users, how do I generate 1000 addresses that I can monitor and send bitcoins from? Will the server be able to monitor all these 1000 addresses at once?

I am a php developer so I am familiar with certain aspects of web design.

Many thanks
2710  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LTC/FC exchange via Google Docs [Bid 14,00 LTC | Ask 11,00 LTC] on: April 22, 2013, 08:22:20 PM
I think FC on Vircurex within 2 Weeks at about 0.0005 - 0.001 BTC.
Mark my words Wink

I think there is some chance they will drop in value soon. But long term they are a good proposition. And if Litecoin goes on gox and shoots up even more these Feathers will go up in price a lot too...
2711  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WTB 50,000 Feathercoins for 700 LTC on: April 22, 2013, 08:20:27 PM
Hi guys, now bought 99k Feathercoins.

Winding down for the day now, pm me if you want to catch me before I am finished.. Want to break the 100k mark and then I am done!

Cheers.
2714  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WTB 50,000 Feathercoins for 700 LTC on: April 22, 2013, 07:13:08 PM
Why are you buying so much anyway?

*shrugs*

I like collecting things.
2715  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: FeatherCoin - New Litecoin based coin on: April 22, 2013, 07:11:46 PM
As I continue to give out coins to users at BTC-E, I noticed a bit of resistance I'd like to be able to overcome on a consistent basis. Here are the tough questions:

- Why bother with Feathercoin?
- Will Feathercoin include any different features to distinguish itself from Litecoin?
- Feathercoin is just a coin that is for people that missed the boat with Litecoin, right?
- We don't need another crypto coin, right? Too many, it confuses the public.
- Feathercoins difficulty is already too high!
- The developers just a few variables and called it a new coin

It would be nice if we had a website that addresses those issues. We could keep a consistent message and point users to the link.

The people on BTC-e want to trade. Put FeatherCoin on an exchange and they'll be interested in it. Until then you'll have a tough job convincing any of them. We have come along way in less than a week but we have much further to go.

The traction we have gained so far has been incredible.

I'm also being realistic. This coin is never going to overtake Litecoin in market value. But that doesn't mean there isn't a place for it, as shown by the huge growth in network hash rate. All those Bitcoin miners are looking for another coin to mine and Feathercoin is looking quite attractive.

I'm also noticing much more in the way of bounties and 'community drive' than most other alt currencies...
2716  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LTC/FC exchange via Google Docs [Bid 14,00 LTC | Ask 11,00 LTC] on: April 22, 2013, 07:08:14 PM
Isn't it early to assign any value to this ?

I think they have value as a cheaper alternative to Litecoin for Bitcoin miners to flock to which is ASIC resistant.

People are giving them value by the amount of attention they have on the forum. I don't think any coin has had this much traction so quickly.
