New subreddit for bitbar - /r/bitbar

Nice. According to a post from that subreddit 23 hours ago an exchange is in the works: (http://www.reddit.com/r/bitbar/comments/1dmino/bitbar_exchange_is_in_the_works/)

"I am proud to announce that a new exchange is underway that will be supporting BitBars as well as BBQ, FTC, PPC and NVC. Please spread this to the appropriate forums.

The primary aim of the site is to offer a clean, simple interface that is easy for someone to use who isn't even familiar with trading on exchanges.

The site is 80% complete and after stringent security testing, will be live in 2-3 weeks at most. For security reasons the url is not being posted yet but please look forward to another update next week. The trading engine is in place and has been designed from the ground up to allow high concurrency and many simultaneous connections. In terms of security we will be serving the site over SSL, hashing all passwords in the database with a unique salt per user and will have protection against the usual exploits such as SQL injections, CRSF, XSS etc.

Some of our features:
English speaking support staff
Scalable system architecture
A site which will work on your phone and tablet device as well as your desktop computer

We are looking for a new alternative currency we believe in, to give our exchange a niche and that is why we will be launching with support of BitBars, the rarest and most precious of the cryptocurrencies. We are also excited to be one of the first exchanges to allow trading of BBQ coins.
We will be looking forward to hearing your requests and feedback. In particular:

Is a chatbox desired?
Would a forum be beneficial?
2 factor authentication? Should this be compulsory or left up to the user

Many thanks,
BitBar Exchange"

Nice price but you may regret it when these are 10BTC per bar by the time they hit an exchange.

Feathercoin is a complete Litecoin clone and started with extremely low difficulty and 3 million were mined on the first day. Didn't stop it being successful.

You already forgot that you were the one who started massive promotion for FTC with buying 100k of them for LTC?

Massive promotion? There was like 100 topics about Feathercoin being created a day by different people when Feathercoin launched, everyone knows that. I didn't buy any until the third day and my topic I created certainly wasn't the first to buy 100k of them, others had created similar topics before me.

I've pretty much destroyed every one of your arguments so far but keep going.

Feathercoin is a complete Litecoin clone and started with extremely low difficulty and 3 million were mined on the first day. Didn't stop it being successful. You use terms like pump and dump when Feathercoin came out, it's worth 50 cents now, why isn't it being dumped?

Don't know about Chinacoin but that seems similar too.
2545  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [WTS] 0.7 Bitbars for .. on: May 04, 2013, 02:26:15 PM
That said, less than 100 BitBars have been created since yesterday. The built in scarcity means people can't really complain 3 million have been created in a day...

Yes, but this time they will complain about just one guy getting 93 BTB - almost 1 day worth of coins now - in like 30 minutes since BTB is announced to public.

It is funny how people that profited big time from unfair game always forget to mention it was a unfair game from the start. It is even more funny that those same
people are continuously attempting to hide the dirty secret even though it is and will always be available to everyone because of the public database, e.g. blockchain.

Dude 3 million feathercoins were created on day 1. The difficulty for Feathercoin was equally low to start with.

Easier coins at the beginning is what drives people to support the coin and creates the buzz.
2546  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CNC Pluck's FTC? on: May 04, 2013, 02:01:54 PM
This is completely insane and it was THE VERY LAST TIME that i dumped a new coin immediately after release.

I will keep every shitcoin at least 1 week before dumping.

I lost over 1000$ again because I sold for 20 LTC / 1000 CNC, DAMN ME!!

Yeah I remember you saying FTC was done after you sold them all off (45k or something...)

These coins are a gamble when they are new... At least you made money and paid off your mining rig or whatever

Remove mine also, please.

Not bad, I hadn't seen actual innovation in an AltCoin in a long while.

I would call this a tweaked NVC and a far cry from innovation.

Honestly the low reward coupled with the apparently epic premine sets the initial miners to reap one hell of a reward should any trading on this coin commence.
There is a valuable lesson here for the next altcoin of the hour, set your difficulty high from the start. If the coin is truly innovative people will happily mine despite initial high difficulty to get a stake in it.

It was no different to Feathercoin. See my above post.

What was Chinacoin like for difficulty on it's launch day? I missed that one.

please remove my sell order, I put it up for auction, thanks!

This was the first official "Junk Coin", followed by the second official aptly named "Junk Coin".

Created by two abandoned projects, abandon this one now.

I think it has a lot more to offer, from a technical, and possibly marketing direction over a coin like ChinaCoin and FeatherCoin (I own both and I'm saying that).

I do like the bar concept, and it takes a different approach over just taking something like litecoin and pumping up the block reward by 4x. Plus it has PoS, dynamically adjusting difficulty and wasn't premined like NovaCoin was supposedly.

Definitely a novel 'coin' in my book.

Right, it has nothing to do with you mining 93 BTB in like 30 minutes due to extreme low starting difficulty.

Feathercoin started with extremely low difficulty too. Did you know that? 3 million were produced in the first day alone.
2551  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [wts]7 bitbar for 15btc or equal value in ltc on: May 04, 2013, 01:48:09 PM
Guys. Why so expensive this alt.coin?

Only 100 of these Bitbars get produced a day across the entire network. They were designed to be very rare. Hence the 'bars' rather than 'coins' (think gold coins compared to gold bars... a bitbar is really a set of bitcoins melted together into a bar)

BitBar block explorer is coming soon. I have spoken with Dreamwatcher privately and he has confirmed Smiley

I agree. It has the 'bar' idea behind it, meaning they are super rare. That alone is a new twist. Then you have the fact it is based on Novacoin but doesn't have the premine.

People can't complain about millions of coins being created either, there's only 2500 bars or soo and only 100 bars being made a day.

At the very least it's going to be an interesting economics experiment.

Added mill0601. It's a sell order at 2.143 BTC per BTB (7 bitbars up for grabs)

I have added you to the Bitbar exchange orderbook: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AvzceU1B6xtPdFg0M2kza2pQQ2o0b2RzNFZnRlNiclE#gid=0

Your sell order is listed at 2.143 BTC per Bitbar  (15/5 = 2.143)
2559  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [WTS] 0.7 Bitbars for .. on: May 04, 2013, 11:59:27 AM
I think Bitbar is a stayer.

It's showing promise. This 'bar' concept where a bar is worth a lot more than a coin is a nice twist on things. If nothing else, the economics of this situation with bitbars being super scarce is intriguing...

Network difficulty doesn't lie - now up to 9.03 already and still rising nicely: http://www.bitbar.info/stats/index.php

Yet no one knows who's mining it. Whoever it is has quite the hashrate, considering the only pool we know of has 70 Mhash/s and is finding blocks every ~12 min, while blocks are being found every minute or so

Saw similar with Feathercoin when it came out. The world is a big place and only a fraction of the people who read this forum bother to actually create an account and post on here.

That said, less than 100 BitBars have been created since yesterday. The built in scarcity means people can't really complain 3 million have been created in a day...
2560  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] [PPC] Mac OSX Builds on: May 04, 2013, 11:54:49 AM
Nice. Now I can get a wallet on my work machine as well as my home one.

It's also encouraging to see others volunteering to help the PPCoin project... another sign of growth.
