321  Economy / Economics / Re: Venezuela vs Guyana. A new problem in the oil market ? on: December 06, 2023, 03:00:07 PM
It's difficult not to expect this conflict will escalate into a real war, with the current economic condition of Venezuela (the hyperinflation) expanding into a land with rich oil will significantly help their economic, moreover based on this site https://www.cato.org/blog/will-nicolas-maduro-invade-guyana 95% of the voter support their government to claim the land. What could prevent them is USA intervention, but USA already got too much on their hand with the Israel & Palestina, and Russia & Ukrain, they also got election coming up, so I doubt USA will do much.
322  Economy / Economics / Re: Inventing a job is better than finding a job on: December 06, 2023, 02:34:39 PM
I do agree that inventing / creating job giving much more impact to society, and it generally better. But not everyone has the privilege to start a business. Tho most people will say that starting a business can use minimum resources, but it still required time, trial and error, and most of the time it will end up in failure. And most people can't afford failure, they only had one chance and they couldn't spend it a fail business, these people has no choice they need to make money as quick as possible, their only choice is to get a job that give them stable income.
323  Economy / Economics / Re: War and property mortgage you still need to pay If war destroy your Property on: December 05, 2023, 02:16:57 PM

According to a report published by the timesofisrael website, it was recorded that house prices rose by 118% over a decade in the same circumstance that the government announced that there were 4 times more empty houses than before. This makes Israel one of the leading countries worldwide in empty apartments per capita. These figures, which show four times the number of empty apartments previously estimated, provide statistical explanations for those who see a link between the rise in foreign investment in Israeli real estate and the rise in Israeli housing prices. I do not exclude the phenomenon of money laundering, most of which is borne by the real estate market.
Therefore, Israel is a tourist and investment destination as well because its real estate market is booming and it is a preferred destination for foreign capital.

I doubt that's only happening is israel, such phenomena happened around the world. Real-estate especially housing is owned by only small amount of people and they let it empty because they put a very high price they house both for renting or buying it and it drive housing price to keep getting higher. While the middle and lower class keep struggling more and more to save money to meet the expected price by those real-estate hoarder. I have read from several years ago that housing bubble is about to burst but it hasn't happened until now.

325  Economy / Economics / Re: Banks are the cause of millions of crypto project failures on: December 05, 2023, 02:05:12 PM
Banks are the enemies of governments and the main actors in wasting government capital,

I don't know where do you live, but from where I came from, most of the bank is government owned, so they work under the government, it's kinda impossible that those banks is the enemies of the governments. And seems like in here in your thread you are portraying bank as a very evil entity. Tho I do agree that they are slowing down crypto development (which is understandable because one of their job is to keep fiat stability) but they also has helping so many people starting their business, getting proper education, .etc, with interest of course because they need to make some profit.
326  Economy / Economics / Re: Do brands that take sides on divisive issues lose market share? on: December 05, 2023, 01:54:02 PM
Yes, they will lose some of their customer, but it highly depends on those companies product if their product has many competition it will be very easy to just move on to the same products from other brand. I really don't have any problem with company that take side on some political or social issue, because those company has it's own values and principles, the owner and boards also have their own values and principles, they will take a side. As long as it doesn't turn into discrimination or something worse like hate-speech/threat , taking side on political or social issues is not a problem.
327  Economy / Economics / Re: How to be more effective working remotely. on: December 05, 2023, 01:38:50 PM
Most introverts really feel at home, plus working from home is the right solution. but it doesn't match the expectations that were imagined, working at home is indeed the dream of many people, but if you don't have a sense of responsibility for the work, it's the same as being irresponsible. working from home you have to be self-disciplined and manage your own time, I feel tired. because I'm introverted but grateful to work at home and be able to see my parents and family every day

Definitely, for people who has lack of discipline, procrastinating the work is easy because no one is supervising. For me even-though I still use office hour, I get up at 5 exercising, get breakfast, then working until lunch to take a break, just like the people working in the office. For some people who already has family and children, they could also become distraction, the solution could just went out and find some cafe or working space. But all that being said, training our discipline is the best way.
328  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will you do if your country did not legalize cryptocurrency? on: December 05, 2023, 01:32:40 PM
~

Most of us are very privileged to have been in a country that does not restrict the use of bitcoin, even though they are not supporting it use as a legal tender but it's still a valid and legal means of making exchange or payments, but if i fall under the type of those whose country banned the use of bitcoin, i will rather prefer relocation because for how long will i keep hiding that i would not get caught one day if they succeeded in tracking me down.

Yeah, I wouldn't called it a privileges tho, because it also came with a consequences, Bitcoin is not restricted not because the government supported it but because I live in a third-world country that has lack of financial protection law. It makes many financial fraud crime (not related to crypto) left without even go to trial.

330  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Compounding altcoin profits in bull run? on: December 04, 2023, 12:52:55 PM

I know this is risky as it only takes one altcoin to go to zero to lose my money but I am ok starting with £100 - does anyone else do this?

It definitely is risky, especially if you are speculating on the altcoin that hasn't has much marketcap, it will be a very huge risk and I myself wouldn't do that, even with a high marketcap altcoin I wouldn't just compounding my money into it, I always consider altcoin as high risk investment, and I only buy it in small amount and sell it as soon as I get enough profit,

But all that being said, some people like risk and with big risk usually come big profit, (if you do it right of course)
331  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Investing altcoins now or during halving? on: December 04, 2023, 12:49:28 PM
I would wait until Bitcoin giving a certain bullish signal, because as far as I know, until now most altcoin are still depends on Bitcoin in term of price movement. Currently, Bitcoin price is moving in a good way, but I haven't see an assuring bullish signal. Tho there are some people that just speculate on altcoin even before the Bitcoin halving has effect on Bitcoin itself, but I think it's very risky.
332  Economy / Economics / Re: When the world is evolving, follow the trend. on: December 04, 2023, 12:42:13 PM

While this is probably true in the long run, I don’t see the world switching to a fully digital transaction-based economy any time soon. There are still too many people struggling with the online world and want to keep using their cash. My family is the perfect example for that, my grandmother never did any online transactions, she even never did a bank transfer in her life. Everything is by my father or uncle; they withdraw the money for her and she just uses cash all the time. It’s very similar for my mother, she never did online banking in her life. All transactions she only does in the bank branch and while she uses her debit card from time to time, I would say she pays 95% in cash. My dad is doing online banking sometimes, but losses his logins once a month and needs to reset everything. My friends have very similar experiences with their parents and grandparents, which makes me question how the world could advance at the current stage. Maybe in 30 years once all the older generations are gone it’s going to look different, but right now it seems impossible.

Agree, if we talked about the Big City like New York, Tokyo, or London, then probably they are already moving towards a fully digital payment with their own app. But if we are talking about whole world, then it is still a long time for people to move to fully digital transaction, especially for more rural area and 3rd world country where the internet is not that reliable for doing digital transaction, people wouldn't risking their money and business for something that is not yet reliable.
333  Economy / Economics / Re: Life is cheaper with Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in general on: December 04, 2023, 12:26:36 PM
Of course, holding onto paper money means reducing your net worth. The value of the dollar is constantly increasing in our country, due to the increase in the value of the dollar, the value of the local currency of our country is gradually decreasing. Before we used to spend 5 dollars in local currency to do the same work, now we need about 8 dollars in local currency to do the same, we are certainly affected by this aspect. If the dollar could have been purchased and held at a time when the value of the dollar was at a normal level, we would still have benefited financially. The value of the dollar in our country is increasing steadily and I am sure it will continue to increase in the future so it would be wiser for me to invest or buy dollars now rather than save the local currency. But instead of buying dollars I think it would be a good decision if I invest in Bitcoin right now because the price of Bitcoin is going up a lot and the price of Bitcoin is expected to go up even though I already have some Bitcoin investments.

Dollar isn't an investment, it's just a regular fiat like your Naira. The reason why it's having more value than Naira lies in the purchasing power. We are simply dealing with inflation everyday and the government has just kill switch subsidy to gasoline, the FX Market is now float by demand and supply, the central bank doesn't control it any more, that's why we are having economy set back. We are literally now in a new default mode of the economy is the reason why naira is fighting hard to stay strong.

The mistake many of us are doing is buying US dollar to keep thinking its an investment. In a real sense, it's has been far ahead of the Naira but doesn't mean it should be used as an investment because the dollar you are holding is nothing great if you take to US to spend, you might he surprised that inflation has eaten your 5 years dollar savings wouldn't be able to buy much.

I do agree that USD (and other currencies) is definitely not an investment, but I believe there are some people speculating on currencies, buying the currencies that they think will gain value, most of this are done within Forex Trading but I guess some people are also doing this activity outside of forex.
334  Economy / Economics / Re: How to be more effective working remotely. on: December 04, 2023, 12:10:16 PM
I believe remote working is not for everyone, I myself are a remote worker tho I consider myself as an introverted and I don't really like hanging out with friends I still feel lonely sometimes, my coworkers are from around the world, we never meet in real life, and I don't have time to go find a friend in real life. I can't imagine if someone who are an extrovert and like to socialize working remotely, they wouldn't survive it.
335  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will you do if your country did not legalize cryptocurrency? on: December 04, 2023, 12:04:12 PM
Fortunately my country legalized Bitcoin tho is not a legal tender, now if my country never legalize Bitcoin I would still find a way to use it, since I need a currency for international cash transfer, I would find some way around to use Bitcoin, but I would not invest in it, I will immediately exchange it to local fiat in here.

338  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Combination of the young age correlated with Bitcoin for the future on: November 30, 2023, 02:01:20 PM
I think it depends on your friend's current situation, if he is living a good life, he has good enough house, he has stable income that enough to enjoy his life, than there is no reason to sell the Bitcoin immediately, he can just let his 4 Bitcoin laying around and see if it can grow in value.

It would quite different if he still struggle for everyday life, he doesn't have a house, he struggle to pay his bills and to meet basic needs and couldn't enjoy his life, then selling 1 Bitcoin and start some business with the money could help him.
339  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Is the DOJ doing too much? on: November 30, 2023, 01:56:12 PM
It's been a roller coaster month for Binance – first, it was C_Z stepping down as CEO and Binance being fined $4.3B by the DOJ for securities breaches.

The latest development is that their ambassador, Cristiano Ronaldo, has been sued for promoting Binance and unregistered securities. It's unfortunate that he's facing legal action after endorsing the exchange😢. What are your thoughts about this?

Firstly, I don't think DOJ is doing too much, if CZ were actually proven to be using Binance to launder people's money or other criminal activity, than DOJ could pursue the case, that's their job, if Binance were cooperative to open their data, it shouldn't be problem for Binance.

Secondly, the class action lawsuit towards Christiano Ronaldo wasn't by DOJ, it's made by Binance customer.
340  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Treat exchanges the way you treat your casino accounts. on: November 30, 2023, 01:51:32 PM
It should be common knowledge by now that we're not supposed to leave our coins in an exchange, sadly it's not.

Most people who are opposed to storing their funds in Centralized Exchange are talking about their investment funds which they are hodl, not about their trading fund which they use to speculate on the market. And most of the time investment funds that they hodls is in huge amount, much more than trading fund, which will be  extremely risky to be stored on a Centralized Exchange that can instantly without any reason freeze your account and just your money.
