322  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitcoin-Central, first exchange licensed to operate with a bank. This is HUGE on: October 12, 2013, 08:42:38 PM
The withdraw functionnality was deployed tonight. Both fiat currency and bitcoin withdrawals are available now.
323  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitcoin-Central, first exchange licensed to operate with a bank. This is HUGE on: October 12, 2013, 09:48:31 AM
I find it odd that there is no mention of the fact that EUR withdrawals are not yet possible. Support ticket was answered with:

"The withdraw functionnality is about to be deployed very soon. You will be notified as soon as it becomes available. Thanks very much for your patience."

I would have preferred to know this in advance, and not find out about it by trying to withdraw.
The delay is unexpected as it is not entirely dependent on bitcoin-central but also on the integration with its banking partner. However I grant you that the communication on the matter could have been better.
324  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitstamp's massive theft from customers, refusing to close accounts on: October 12, 2013, 09:32:07 AM
Exchanges have always been the sore point in the bitcoin ecosystem, and anything which provides incentives for new ones or helps existing ones work around the legacy banking system will be a great boon for bitcoin. I'm talking about ripple of course.
Interesting but what makes you think that a company using Ripple would be exempt from AML/KYC requirements ?
325  Local / Échanges / Re: Bitcoin-Central, discussion, questions-réponses on: October 10, 2013, 03:58:57 PM

@bitjet and to the other bitcoiners who acknowledged their payout: thanks.

The final payout batch transaction was just sent.

Has anybody posted "THIS IS A GOOD THING" yet?

That we can wait and see if bitcoin has legs and can withstand SR failing overnight?
+1
I believe the downfall of SR removes a common critic of bitcoin that it facilitates "illicit" trade.
By showing that bitcoin is not the ideal tool for tax evasion or drug dealing but simply a tool for people to transact on their own terms, this event is a positive milestone.
Bitcoin is growing up and there is always a sense of loss in the process but it's the price to pay for it to become really big..
334  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Instawallet claim process on: October 02, 2013, 11:15:23 AM
Hello I filed the claims process quite a while ago for around 7 btc and have heard nothing from instawallet. I really need that BTC.

For the nth time, go visit your wallet page and confirm that your payout is ok. We need the discharge from you. Hurry up. The last payout is going out today.
It's not so nice that you keep saying that while the only thing instawallet.org says is:

What are we supposed to do?
It's displaying this page because you did not file a claim in due time. Claims filed in due time display the wallet page (as long as people type https://www.instawallet.org/w/...)

Dude, if you owed me north of 100 thousand euros and you talked about me like you talk about Phinn I swear I would find you and leave you toothless.
Now I am shivering with fear. Let's call the moderator. Wait: psy(cho) IS the "global" moderator..

Two wallets, one of which contained exactly 1,000 BTC and the other was either 132.xxx BTC or 123.xxx BTC (honestly didn't remember which, but submitted the 123.xxx amount, of which I don't remember what the .xxx(xxxxx) was, thus rounded it down to 123 BTC), I didn't have have the wallet addresses, but the form at the time was designed to submit as much info as possible. The third wallet had .84(x) BTC (if I recall correctly) of which I did have the Bitcoin address, but that one supposedly had two other claims on it for some reason, thus assuming that's why it would take that one longer to process. The other two I assumed would take longer because they were both over the 50 BTC threshold, also assuming that they would be processed after IW is finished processing all the lesser claims.
First time this factual, usable information is brought to my attention (in a VERY large pile of ranting posts).

Please provide claim number, status and amount in your PM (or simpler, the wqllet key that contains all three information).

If your claim was not paid there must be a reason and your claim status tells you about it:
- multiple claims for the same wallet with different payout addresses
- large amount balance that requires identification before payout.
etc
Think about helping us determine that you are the rightful owner and provide at least your claim number, balance and claim status.

@BCB
What is your claim number and status ? (please PM me or Arsy).

Now I realize that we have a communication problem, Gage. I am not at trained psychiatrist prepared to deal with serious cases of paranoïa. When I started the IW topic I naively expected you to read my post. Instead it was just an opportunity for you to project your preconceived opinion about me and my colleagues: rest assured, I am not tyring to convince you otherwise nor to shut you up. Simply provide me via PM with the information that I need to sort out your (big) case.
The only PM I received from you so far is dated december 29, 2012, totally unrelated to IW.
339  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are deterministic wallets more secure than random wallets ? on: September 30, 2013, 06:34:36 PM

If a webshop using a deterministic wallet makes its master public key public (as it should),
By making your MPK public you've basically revealed to the world your entire sales data.

Only a fraction of the sales data are revealed.
If bitcoin transactions represent only a fraction of the sales (like cash transaction represent only a fraction of proximity payments), the world can only see the tip of the iceberg. And maybe the world will give credit to the merchant for its transparency and increased security.

Bitcoin payments could one day represent a larger proportion of sales of digital goods.
However, with digital goods, it could be a plus if content owners can audit the sales or the donations.
