322  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CUSTOM KNC TITAN FIRMWARE! based off KNC's v2.00 on: April 07, 2016, 07:19:34 PM
Ive also purchased a miner that had your firmware on it, very nice work!!

I dont know what else you have planned but if you are taking suggestions... graphs (graphs are always pretty) of average mining rate over a time as well as power usage. Im not sure if the power usage stat is realtime or an average but an average would possibly be nice - as long as it was acurate and not showing low due to BFGminer restarts and such. Maybe also a stat on watt/mhs to see the efficiency. None of these are show stoppers and to choose between this and a more stable/faster rig, go with the later but just thought Id throw this out there.

Thanks for your efforts in this!

As per your suggestions. There are some graphs by clicking the "more goodies" link on the status page.
The power usage stat is realtime. There is no averaging, there really doesnt need to be. Miner power consumption is pretty static when mining is constant =)
I could probably work in the watt/mh , but this is easy math that anyone can do w/ a calc, but I understand it would be a nifty little stat. I could probably write it into my next release.

Cool! Smiley
323  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How did Bitcoin Spread ? on: April 05, 2016, 12:39:59 PM
Bitcoin spread by the power of social media and also seeing some streamers accepting bitcoins as donations, that was the time i discovered and got curious as to what is all about bitcoin.
Social media? How exactly? I don't see any official Bitcoin group on Facebook or something like that. I am long time internet user but surprisingly I didn't learn about bitcoin from the internet.
Instead I heard about is in live conversation somewhere. And then I found this forum.

Id say forums more than social media (or are they the same thing?). I first heard of bitcoin on a tech forum, people buying/selling for bitcoin as well as building rigs.
324  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A friend had a strange idea on: March 29, 2016, 01:20:49 AM
Its been done.

Awhile back (years) there was actually a website that would keep track of bills and if the BTC was ever spent. I forget what it was called tho.

EDIT: Looks like its gone now. cryptobill.com https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=135943.0

325  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why old coins will rise once more on: March 27, 2016, 02:22:43 PM
I completely disagree!

For example  - why would people buy namecoin that isnt getting developed on the scale of Ether, Monero, Bitbay etc. Coins that are actually getting developed with professioanl team working full time on them are the ones people will buy.

What you are saying is like buying shares in SEGA and Amstrad and not Sony Playstation because they "weren't first"!!

No, what Im saying is buy Nintendo because its stood the test of time rather than "AmDD's Super Awesome Game System" that no one has heard of and was designed on my kitchen table.
326  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Litecoin will see 10$ and above 2016 on: March 27, 2016, 02:20:35 PM
litecoin shouldn't even be $1 anymore - other altcoins are far more advanced

Nice first post. Solid supporting evidence.  Roll Eyes
327  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why old coins will rise once more on: March 27, 2016, 02:14:57 PM
I also mostly agree and can see it starting already. Some older coins, like Feathercoin have seen their communities all but dry up. However, more recently activity has started to pickup some. People are starting to look to coins that have stood the test of time rather than something thrown together in a dorm room for a quick buck.

Feathercoin is a good example because its one of the older alts and its still actively developed. Sure its history isnt so great but that shows it has survived and gotten stronger. 51% attacks, algro change, PnD, etc but it lives on... Im sure there are other coins like that out there, Peer? Namecoin? Even Primecoin was a good idea, it was just abandoned by the dev.

Dust off your old wallets, I think some older coins are coming back from the dead.
328  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Any decent GPU/CPU only coins to mine? on: March 27, 2016, 12:52:24 AM
Feathercoin is profitable and GPU mineable.

330  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [FTC] Feathercoin Development Overview on: March 24, 2016, 06:17:12 PM
it's the solo mining removed for this coin, i'm not able to do it, and it work with other coin, so it must be this coin

Yes, I think it was. The last time I tried I was unable to solo mine feathercoin. I ended up setting up my own P2Pool. http://104.236.34.9:19327/static/

why this decision? solo mining is the true essence of decentralization, and it's more fun to be honest

A few reasons really.

#1 I was unable to successfully solo mine
#2 I dont think a "solo pool" exists for feathercoin
#3 I already pay for a VPS to run a Feathercoin full node so setting up a P2Pool node was easy
#3a The small (very very small) fee I get for running P2Pool node helps pay for the VPS

While P2Pool isnt the same as solo it has its pro's as well.

332  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Latest GPU only mineable coin list on: March 22, 2016, 01:12:08 AM
Feathercoin and primecoin are GPU mineable. Feathercoin is one of the oldest alt coins and still has an active dev team plus it's profitable to mine (or it has been very recently, not sure about right now)

334  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ShapeShift.io - Instant Coin Exchange - No Account Needed on: March 18, 2016, 06:25:12 PM
Would you all reevaluate the risk in accepting no confirmation exchanges? When I first used this site it was very very fast (and still is quite a lot faster than using a 'normal' exchange). My understanding is that when exchanging values lower than a specific amount that you will do the exchange with zero confirmations while waiting on a confirm for higher value ones. Could you consider raising the limit for zero confirm transactions? I understand you need to balance your risk here, just providing some feedback.

Thanks for the great service!  Cool
335  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin is officially dead on: March 18, 2016, 01:35:53 PM
Not dead because:

  • Capable of four times as many transactions as Bitcoin in a ten minute period. Frankly if payment processors had adopted Litecoin in the past year current Bitcoin block discussions would be irrelevant (and likely the price of both coins higher). Anyone who has watched these discussions understands the immediate advantage of a network with larger transactional capability.
  • Faster confirmation times. The only people who don't think this is important have never spent a single coin or they have patience that the average person does not possess.
  • The faster block time of litecoin reduces the risk of double spending attacks.
  • Anti-spam.
  • Fast well established network. Current Hashrate is 1,643 GH/s. Since scrypt is memory intensive it is known to be approximately 1000 times slower hardware wise in comparison to SHA256. Fair comparison to the Bitcoin network requires multiplying that hashrate by 1000 (1,643 TH/s). The fact is for most of Litecoins history the hashrate has been relatively high and secure. Those comparing it to the Bitcoin network without considering this 1k factor are either being disingenuous or just ignorant of the facts.
  • Continuous development look here at number of releases in past year: https://github.com/litecoin-project/litecoin/releases
  • Upcoming new features currently being developed look here for whats happening in 2016:
    https://www.reddit.com/r/litecoin/comments/3z2ta1/ama_official_litecoin_developers_and_litecoin/
  • Longevity. Many coins have temporarily eclipsed litecoin as they were marketed for the purpose of increasing the fiat accounts of a small group and emptying the accounts of new users. Unfortunately this has been detrimental to crypto-space in general.
  • Great community.
  • Fully supported by GoCoin a growing payment processor used by thousands of merchants https://www.gocoin.com/
  • Liquidity. You can sell thousands and not crash the market. Maintains value.

Truth. Those who dismiss Litecoin either dont read facts or are brainwashed by the trolls and FUDers around here. Will Litecoin ever replace Bitcoin totally? Maybe not even if only due to network effect but in todays world, how many different currencies are out there? Lots. How many different payment networks are out there (Visa, Mastercard, paypal, cash, check, MO, etc)? Lots.
I see no reason for Bitcoin to stand alone and Litecoin will continue to be a major player.
336  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Litecoin mining with NVIDIA GPU on: March 16, 2016, 04:53:34 PM
Ether is profitable on AMD GPUs right now, not sure about Nvidia. ALso look into Feathercoin as another GPU mineable coin. Primecoin is another although Im not sure if that coin is profitable or even has enough volume to trade with.
337  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: March 13, 2016, 10:48:19 PM
Since Im here now, can anyone explain or point me to documentation for the voltages? Why is the die voltage listed as a negative number and why is it different from what is actually reported in the table?
338  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: March 12, 2016, 02:26:30 PM
All very valid reasons and I assumed as much. Thanks for confirming.

I guess you could replace the fan with one that has its own thermal sensor. Ive seen 80mm fans with this so I assume they have larger ones as well to fit the titan. Might not be worth the cost unless youre replacing a bad fan tho.
339  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: March 12, 2016, 02:22:52 AM
Maybe this was mentioned already in this 2000+ page thread but Im going to ask anyway... Is there anyway to dynamically adjust the fan speed? These miners are actually fairly quiet but being able to knock them down manually or auto adjust based on temp would be a nice plus. Note that Im a new Titan owner so maybe this is common knowledge and I just lacking it.

EDIT: Thought this was GenTarkins thread, but I guess the question fits here as well...
340  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Is the current difficulty included in blockchain? on: March 03, 2016, 08:05:25 PM
Awesome, thanks! I knew some block explorers would show this but I didnt know if they collected the info manually (checking the difficulty in realtime with each block) or if it was actually recorded with the blockchain.

Thank you both
