321  Other / Meta / Infographic - Merit & new rank requirements [UPDATED] on: January 27, 2018, 04:16:40 AM
Below is my simple infographic (for those people who prefers visual explanation) about the merit and new rank requirements.
My point is simple, as long as we are patient enough and see to it that we just share quality posts, we can reach higher ranks eventually.
Higher rank members in the forum will not leave any of us unnoticed and without merits, if they feel our share is deserving of merit point(s) BUT will definitely won't bother at all to give us any merits if our replies are trash.
I just do hope that the merit system will not be abused and each of us should be watchdogs in upholding the real intention of the merit system in attaining clean and only quality information published in the forum.

322  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is stuck at $10k dollars, what is wrong with you people? on: January 27, 2018, 01:35:48 AM
I think this is quite a normal feeling with people who are new to bitcoin because they came at the all-time high price of bitcoin and now are worried because the price is going down.

But I just would like to point out that bitcoin has gone through much rough and winding road in the previous years compared to now and the true believer of bitcoins know this and resilient enough to continue to hold because even at current price, their bitcoin value is still high compared to last year and the previous years.

My point is if you are new to bitcoin, just don't be too emotional and get affected by the negative news against bitcoin - just believe and all will be well for sure in the coming years ahead Wink
323  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitsler support team has become more arrogant on: January 26, 2018, 01:43:21 AM
I don't know but before when I send a message to the support, they always promptly reply and act on the issue. There was even a time that they responded to a scam report going on with some of the members and they announced it publicly and hold those alleged scammers account. It was more than a year though because I have not been regularly playing for quite awhile - just short play session and just for fun.

I'd suggest that you better attached some screenshots here regarding your conversation with bitsler's support and let the community decide as to whether or not they are being arrogant these days.
324  Economy / Services / Re: ★☆★ 777Coin Signature Campaign ★☆★ (Jr-Hero Accepted) on: January 25, 2018, 12:52:07 AM
There was an update to the way how the forum ranks work, which resulted in junior members being removed, new members now go from newbie to member in one step.
We'll have to adjust the campaign rules based on that and do a few changes. Everyone who wants to read up on that new merit system, here is the thread:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2818350.0

The adjustments wont affect the currently running round, they'll come into play with the next payround.
Will let you know more after I have discussed things in detail with lightlord.

Thanks for the info and update Lutpin, I just shared my thoughts and opinion on that thread about the merit system.
325  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: January 25, 2018, 12:50:04 AM
Merit system is really a good idea but just my opinion, since this is not moderated, might as well add not a demerit but an objection to the merits given so that in case there will be some obvious merit manipulations, the community can contest and object on those merits.

To add to that, there will be a separate and dedicated page where when a certain post received a minimum number of objections to the merits given, the post will be automatically listed on that public dedicated page for final moderation - this way, the moderation is minimal and consolidated in one place and would be easy to decide for the designated moderator.

This is just my opinion though...

You've been around for more than a year, have more than three thousand posts, and ...

Here's what you do:

1. Remove yourself from any signature campaign. Don't get paid.
2. Start posting like any normal forum member who is NOT in a signature campaign.
3. Maybe you can then join a signature campaign, but only contribute to the threads or the forum as if you are not getting paid.

The problem this forum has is spam and posters (shit or not) that do not really contribute. It wastes time and money and server space and cpu. I'm a father to two children. I don't join signature campaigns. I did before because it was actually something I wanted to support or because it paid a whole bitcoin or something absurd so why not, but that lasted only a couple of weeks.

The problem is, your signature is not your own. Your personal text is not your own. And your avatar is not your own. You are obviously a paid poster. It has gotten out of hand, but the administrators and moderators of this site are still trying to control it.

Just post as if you are not getting paid or as if you are not in any campaign. If you would not post on a thread otherwise, then just don't post at all. It's that simple.

Posting or participating in a forum is not work nor is it a job. You may be working or treating it like a job, if so, then you have to be more professional about it.

Besides, in an early post of yours, you did say you prefer gold over bitcoin.

Now the trust system may be abused or used the wrong way, there is little you can do about changing that. The best is to take it up privately with whoever you are dealing with, but since you've made it public, accept that it's not going away anytime soon.

Posting to get paid is a waste of time the way I see it. Had you studied some alts or ICOs or even did a little bit of "real" trading and not just gambling on games of chance like dice or poker, you may have a little bit of a stash now. I have some. A little. None of it from posting, and I'm not counting my "pay" as a mod either, since that's like an absurd $50 a month.

Now this is all just my opinion, so ... have at it.

Bok,

Thank you for your opinion and it is an honor that one of the forum moderators come to the thread I created and expresses its views and ideas.

As I have said, I will accept whatever be the decision of actmyname but is asking for reconsideration to take a closer review of my case. For the time being, I rest my case to his good judgment for reconsideration and I am not bothering him anymore and waste more of his time unless there is a need to converse with him in the coming days or week (my last contact with him was last night when I send him a private message).

I am in all good faith trying to add value to the community and stay compliant while at the same time earning through my signature campaign just like many of the members here in the community. The problem was, I am too focus replying to threads I set to watch but as you can see in my posts history, I am very responsive to people who quoted my messages and at the same time quoting and expressing my views on the new replies to the threads I set to watch. I agree that it was a mistake because as actmyname stated, any words or replies will be insignificant to threads that have many score posts already and I am now changing that and removed all of my watchlists. I am now trying to find ways how to not get notifications to certain threads that show in my "Show new replies to your posts" so that I will make it sure that I no longer end up replying again to the old threads I watched. I am currently just replying to new threads and doing all of my best that every reply of mine adds value to OP and to everyone who needs the information in general. Although there will be times where I am the one who will be asking questions but we all know that that is what this forum is for - an exchange of ideas, asking or answering questions, and helping one another.

I respect your recommendations but it feels like I am being singled out to remove my signature where I have been a member for awhile and is compliant to the signature campaign's requirements and to the forum in all good faith.

I have not caused any harm, fraud, and insult to anyone in the forum since I became a member here. I think it would be unfair to my part that I will remove my signature and others are in the signature campaign. Although that was just your opinion and it will be up to me to remove it or not OR maybe I don't have to because my signature campaign manager will already kick me out because of the negative trust. But that is the reason why I plead here so that I will still continue with my signature campaign and at the same time gives more value to the community.

But, I will definitely heed to your last 2 recommendations:

2. Start posting like any normal forum member who is NOT in a signature campaign.
3. Maybe you can then join a signature campaign, but only contribute to the threads or the forum as if you are not getting paid.

Again, my sincerest thanks for taking time and giving advice mod Dabs and more power!

Sincerely,
8Habits
327  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Old laptop for mining? on: January 24, 2018, 02:34:27 AM
If you are not going to use that old laptop it is better to use it to mine burst coin. Although I will be honest with you, the earnings will be very little but better than just leaving it on the side and not using it.

There is a caveat though, you need to purchase at least 1 4tb external hard drive and expect to get the ROI in 16 months more or less depending on the market situation.

You see, it won't be enough but eventually, if you are just patient, you can be lucky and get a good price when the price of the burst will go high.

Burst coin is a good choice because it won't demand higher specs of video cards and won't consume much electricity and indeed electricity is very minimal because you are just using external hard drives.

In fact, early next month, I will be buying a low-end desktop and 2 pcs. of 4 TB seagate backup plus to start mining burst and will gradually add more new 4TB external hard drives as I go onward. I am not targetting short-term profit but I will do this for a long-term investment.

To answer your question: yes, you can use that old laptop for burst coin mining but as you grow, you can upgrade and buy desktop for that purpose.
328  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: When do you know its time to sell your altcoins? on: January 24, 2018, 01:57:32 AM
With your scenario, you were able to get lots of profits due to pump of price and for me, I would take that $10k profit already and try to rinse and repeat by opening a buy order at let's say less than 10% - 20% of the current price and once the open order is filled up, I would set a sell order targeting just 2% - 5% profit and just rinse and repeat.

Please note that this kind of strategy is like just day trading by taking quick profits and then rinse and repeat.

If you are after higher gain percentage, you can do so but it takes some time to fill it up. You just make it sure that you are buying at a very low price and never buy when the price is at its peak. You can then rest and wait when you reach your target goal.
329  Economy / Speculation / Re: When will the market pick up again?? on: January 23, 2018, 06:35:24 AM
We really don't know but one thing is certain when there are several news outlets around the word reporting negative things and fear about bitcoin and in cryptocurrency investment in general, its price will naturally go down. The weak hand will surely give in most especially when they constantly seeing a downtrend and reds in the chart.

However, if you are a true believer in bitcoin and speculate that its price will go back to its pace and will rally high again, you don't really need to worry because you know and believe that it will eventually recover. Just hold the line.

I am currently red even in my trading but I feel that they are a good buy because the market will recover and no amount of bad news against crypto will stop a true believer of cryptocurrency from investing and accumulating more.
330  Economy / Reputation / Re: actmyname, please remove your negative trust to my account on: January 23, 2018, 01:03:43 AM
Try changing first, and make some proper posts and then ask for forgiveness.

Just my opinion, but you will probably have a better chance.

Thanks, Vod makes me feel better.
I am now in the process of cleaning up my watch threads and start finding new sensible threads to watch and start commenting on.
331  Economy / Reputation / Re: actmyname, please remove your negative trust to my account on: January 23, 2018, 12:26:17 AM
You respond to a lot of spam megathreads a lot. They shouldn't be a place to focus posts. Since they have a length of more than several score posts, there really isn't any point to responding to it, as any dialogue you add will not contribute to anything. And if you do have something to say, it'll be wasted—only signature spammers will really frequent the place and all you'll get are agreement posts and recycled posts that quote yours.

Your posts are long, sure, but they don't have anything going for them. It feels like you're merely trying to extend the length of them. Here, take a gander at some examples:

Experience matters to gambling games that involve skills like poker and sportsbetting. Although you need to have knowledge of how to play the game that is based on pure luck, further than that there is really no need for more experience at all.
I am quite surprise nowadays that when I talk to someone on the coffee shops about bitcoin, most of them have idea about it although they are not necessarily holding it but at least the awareness level is there and it is just a matter of time when they take the ride as well Smiley
Patience is really important in trading - the more you have it, the more you are going to win because volatility gives us chances of winning trades if we just wait for its price to reach to our target goal.
bitcoin is a really good alternative to banks in terms of bitcoin wallets but not yet in terms of utility. Fiat money is still good for utility use while bitcoin is good for investment these time.
The early adopters of bitcoin are very wealthy now and some of them might already be philanthropists. Bitcoin is a good invention just like facebok and the internet - these kinds of inventions are what makes people's life convenient and it is somehow part of their daily lives already - that is the future of bitcoin.

And let it be known that all of these were from your most recent 20 posts.

Hi actmyname, I submit to that and making efforts now to unwatch several threads that I have set to watch. From now on, I am going to focus on other threads and my parameter is based on your statement here to stay away from threads that have a length of more than several score posts and just focus on newer threads.

It is no secret that aside from my want to contribute to this community, I also am after for the signature campaign pay but in all honesty and good faith, I don't spam posts but since I am focusing on threads that have lots of posts already (since I have set them to watch), it makes my answers insignificant but I was just trying really to respond to replies quoting my messages if there are and replying to new messages coming in to the threads I set to watch but I learned my lesson well.

From now on, it will change actmyname and I meant it in all sincerity.

Please reconsider your decision of giving me negative trust.
332  Economy / Reputation / Re: actmyname, please remove your negative trust to my account on: January 23, 2018, 12:11:45 AM
No, I have not sent him any pm yet but I decided to go transparent to the public by posting this in the Reputation thread

So now he has to publicly defend himself, and backing down could make him weak.

Had you sent him a PM, he might have resolved it right away.  :/

I understand that and I will accept whatever be the consequence of my public post here.. I have not sent him pm yet (because in his profile and in his several recent posts he said he has lots of pm already) and I will accept whatever decision he would have at my expense. But I also have to stand and defend myself in all good faith. I am just a little member of this forum trying to get the attention of a high ranking member who negative trust me that he may consider my request.
333  Other / Off-topic / Re: What are some disadvantages of BTC? on: January 23, 2018, 12:01:53 AM
For now , the disadvantage that I encounter with bitcoin is that since it is a digital crypyocurrency and it requires any gadget such as laptops , computer or mobile phones and an internet connection to function it is being limited by this aspects . so what if , you don't have any of this it means that you're unable to join bitcoin .

Of course, you must have at least internet connection and a laptop or desktop in order to accumulate and transact bitcoins. It is really obvious because bitcoin is a cryptocurrency and it works online thus, it requires internet connection and a device. If you don't have any, you won't have it.
334  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is your reason to gamble? Fun or profit? on: January 22, 2018, 11:56:54 PM
Do you gamble for fun or for profit?

Gambling is really fun, however, gambling for profit might just give you stress and the main purpose of gambling might be ignored if you just gamble for profit. I really think that gambling is invented for entertainment, the main role of gambling is to have fun and at the same time to gain some money from it. So having fun comes first before profit.

I could not agree more with you mate. Aiming for profit in gambling is very stressful and can be depressing at times because if you are playing in a game that is based on pure luck, your chances of winning are really low compared to the house as they have the house edge advantage.

The best thing to have in mind when gambling is just to have fun and entertainment and if it is no longer fun, stop.
335  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Trading vs Gambling on: January 22, 2018, 11:54:32 PM
Just curious since the last discussion I had was about gambling vs trading. I know trading can seem to be a bit of a gamble as well, but I see it a little bit like poker. It's a combination of math and psychology. Maybe not the same ratio though, just generalizing  Tongue
thats right trading has small part of gambling,as we knew no one knows what would be the next coin to rise,we only have some ideas becauseof flow chart and the ico with the team but the reality we gambled our funds everytime we buy every coins that we wanna capitalized..

For me even theres really have no big difference the two choices stil i will choose trading as im not a fan of gambling and i dont want to be more involved in such .

For me, when you just trade randomly without a clear pre-planned strategy to follow in all your trades, that is gambling and high risk. Because even if you follow a strategy in trading, there is still no guarantee that you win on that trade but at least you are minimizing the risk of losing a trade with a strategy. My point is that, we should have good knowledge, skills, and pre-planned trading strategies to follow so that emotions will at least be minimize in our trades.
336  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Everyone already knows about bitcoin" no.. no they do not.. on: January 22, 2018, 11:52:05 PM
I don't think everyone has heard about it. As for me, I saw it first in my mailbox, didt do anything about it until a family member introduced me properly. Since then I have being telling people about i and I get the look n questions like what is ? What do they do? And stuffs like that!

Actually they do know i see many people who have heard of bitcoin and claim that it is some online scam but they don't know anything about the price, how it works etc they are just repeating what most media is saying calling is a pyramid scheme. I have nothing to lose I'm happy with the all the profits but bitcoin currently is famous.

Media seems just trying to protect the economic status quo and also reminds people of the risk they may take if they venture into bitcoin. Because when a certain investment is new and offers a potentially high return, it is a really high risk and that what most media is trying to remind us. But who knows, some of the particular news article against bitcoin might be a manipulation but we don't have evidence though.
337  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is changing the world. on: January 22, 2018, 11:47:47 PM
bitcoin has begun to change the world, making transactions easier and lower cost, maybe in the future banks will be replaced by bitcoin blockchain technology, because it is more transparent, safer and most importantly cheaper transaction costs from banks

That is true. For me, that is even be the reason why Facebook is considering to engage with cryptocurrency because as you have said it, it would be safer and can save ton (no need a technical security to watch over it 24 hours a day and 7 days a week) and it is also transparent - thanks to the invention of blockchain.
338  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: To Gamble or To Invest? on: January 22, 2018, 11:43:39 PM
Gambling has the potential of big profit but is too risky - the risk is so high that you have more chances of losing than winning. However, investing in investment vehicles that are credible and has good potential can still be profitable but takes some time because there is a process that should be taken before you can get good profit.

What do you mean? Forgive me, but i can not understand a single word of what you posted in there. No offense, but what is the meaning of "Investing in Investment vehicles that are credible" Please, explain that because your entire shit post is a shame.

I will try to explain my self in a simple and direct manner mate.

A simple google search will give you the answer as to what investment vehicles means:https://www.google.com/search?dcr=0&source=hp&ei=kXZmWpryHIKw0AS0v5mQAg&q=Investment+vehicles&oq=Investment+vehicles&gs_l=psy-ab.3..35i39k1j0j0i67k1l2j0l4j0i67k1j0.1098.1098.0.1863.2.1.0.0.0.0.266.266.2-1.1.0....0...1c.1.64.psy-ab..1.1.265.0...0.k8y1Z23_MZU

I don't do shit post and I tried my best to be compliant on the forum.
339  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why some people prefer Bitcoin over fiat ? on: January 22, 2018, 11:39:36 PM
Let's not focus on the disadvantage. Technology was created to improve our lives in terms of financial, economical and even in healthcare. Most of us prefer Bitcoin not because of what you have mentioned above. We prefer Bitcoin because of its characteristics that we believe that will solution to the problems we are facing right now in our Economy.

You are right mate but aside from that, I honestly say that I am guilty as well to the fact that many people are taking advantage of the high price value of bitcoin and just invest and hold it regardless of reasons. Yes, bitcoin can really be a good alternative in the growing inflation rate and control of government towards fiat money but it is really a hard and good fight ahead for bitcoin to win the hearts and minds of the people to finally realize the downside of using fiat money and the upside of cryptocurrency.

The road of bitcoin in achieving it is very hard, long and winding but it is worth the ride if you are a believer.
340  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Worried about btc future on: January 22, 2018, 11:31:18 PM
I guess there is nothing to worry about this bitcoin because as far as i know there is no sign happened about its illegitimacy . All we have to do is continue what we are doing , continue investing and neglect those people who are making rumors about this bitcoin they don't have enough ideas about this so why do we have to believe them and make worries .

You are correct mate. In my case, I think I already mastered to be not affected by any negative news against bitcoin and its price volatility. I am just too focused on holding and trading to cryptocurrency and never the price of bitcoin anymore. Although the altcoin prices are being affected when the price of bitcoin goes down or up, that is really what I am looking for to take advantage and earn profits in my trades..
