Oh bloody ell Chelski. Just as I came in here to talk about clawing my way back up yo Top 15 with an exact score, you let Newcastle back in late. Garbage scoreline. I should have known better than a consolation  goal with this version of Chelsea.

Terrible Monday elsewhere though with Sevilla snatching a draw from the jaws of victory and Lazio doing even better. So I suppose Chelsea are the best of the lot.

Right, CLS63 no more favours after giving you 3 points, just make sure you don't let Trofo overtake you. When you're up there, and breathing in the sunshine, remember my sacrifice.

And now I meet Chi20, whom I've supported every step of the Cup, in his ascent to the top. Take it easy on me, won't you?

Thank you Cro2 for not putting Liverpool in BSFL. I lose points every time they're a choice, tip to my opponent in future: I never back anything but a Liverpool win, one of my many Achilles heels (even though he just had the one vulnerable one).

Why is your team renamed to New-waytress in spreadsheet?  Grin

New players, new style, new smell, same old shit...

Like Athletic Bilbao, we also aim to play in the highest division every season, so actually winning the league isn't really our main target as long as we keep playing in Div 1  Embarrassed

Everton, is that you??
343  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Sportsbet.io ⚽ Italian Serie A ⚽ Football Pool Discussion Thread 2023/2024 on: March 11, 2024, 05:32:52 PM
Of course I'm keeping this thread quiet, quietly in the top 10 and trying to climb higher. It seems to be my only clear chance at a prize, so I prefer if the rest of you just forget about it and leave it to me.

Should have known Juve/Napoli would be a draw...

My boy Roberto d'Aversa is hitting new highs in his illustrious coaching career:  Cheesy

And they say Prem League is where the drama's at. What drama? The two rival coaches of the best teams embrace before and after every match, while in Turkey and Italy, coaches are invoking the spirit of Cantona haha.
344  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you ready to join DeFi on Bitcoin? on: March 11, 2024, 03:36:08 PM
I like the term "Open Finance" a lot better than DeFI. Especially "DeFI" as it has existed so far on Ethereum and other altcoins which are far more centralized.

I like this. I've used the word "open" before to describe what I think are the ideals of Bitcoin (and yes, shall we say, crypto).

As I said, I understand why the push for "decentralisation", but I don't comprehend the hasty labeling of it, and by proxy, the disdain for anything that's not "purely" decentralised. I accept the pipe dream, but I also accept the need for a guiding hand in the beginning, and then the concept of that allowing for open directions henceforth. That's how Bitcoin started, did it not? On a closed mailing list, and then on the sole computer, then with other peers, and then its current model (which yes, may have accents of centralisation but not against the idea of open development).

I think anyone already using Bitcoin, signing transactions, accepting Bitcoin, etc. They have no need to ask themselves about "oh, am I ready for defi?". They're already doing better than that!
345  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏁🏎️ Sportsbet.io🏁 FORMULA 1 2024 Season🏁🏎️Prediction Pool Discussion Thread on: March 11, 2024, 10:38:49 AM
I like darxiaomi's suggestion for 10 places. Not that it matters to me, I somehow doubt I'm winning anything, but it's always nice to have 10 people fighting for something.

The better suggestion is for only 50 mbtc to go to players, and put me in charge of placing a 50mbtc bet on an F1 market. I'll triple it, or lose it all. How is that not better than double or nothing?
346  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⭐⚽⭐ Sportsbet's Bitcointalk Sports Fanatics League (BSFL) – 10000$ rewards ⭐⚽⭐ on: March 10, 2024, 06:29:30 PM
I have caught up with buwaytress by coming from behind. The e-sports question will determine the winner of this week. Even though both of us predicted the teams reaching the finale correctly I chose Falcons as the winner team of the tournament. As for buwaytress he chose BetBoom. Even though Falcons were 2-0 ahead in the final match BetBoom's having a potential to make a comeback scares me.

This is yours. How BB are going to win 3/3 I have no idea. It could have been so different if Liverpool scored just one of their 6 shots on target (though to be fair, City also had 6).

Lamentations, but you and Arsenal are the biggest winners of tonight. Congratulations on finally beating me before the end-season slip.
347  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: March 10, 2024, 06:21:34 PM
Yeah, bloody Villa couldn't deliver the kill when they needed to. Spurs gifted them so many errors in the first half, but Watkins, bless him, was at fault for a couple of indecisive moments. Then Son and co strike back and score with a few chances, what a blow for the Villains.

This is me talking about other teams with a hint of disappointment we didn't win. We actually, perhaps only ever so slightly, deserved it. At least we made City look pretty boring, didn't we?
348  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Odds, units advantage | Sportsbook | +97043 units on: March 10, 2024, 03:34:40 PM
Of course, Bayern had to go goal-crazy. Kane had to score a hattrick.

My poor form in this thread can be attributed to bad decisions, and an absence of posting wins when I actually made them. That'll teach for me for a lack of discipline.

Today's bet is illd-advised. Low value, because Liverpool are hardly at half their peak first eleven, while City are practically at maximum strength. Odds should be well above 5/1, but there is a strange vibe at Anfield, with a strange period of uncertainty looming over the club. Spirits have never been higher, and Klopp's men want him to go out with an absolute bang.

To paraphrase a forum regular Igebotz, I will say: "Better to take out sharks as I sink, than accept a quiet drowning."

With that, please don't follow this bet...

1000 units on Liverpool to WIN vs Man City @3.45. Other odds: similar. No units advantage

Saw 7 notifies in the space of this morning so I scurried right over to this thread. COYR!

buwaytress, cryptofrka and myself will be peeking at the TV, hiding behind our sofas for 90+ minutes I think.

Telling everyone who's happening to be watching with me that we'll lose, cursing every Red player, but deep down hoping for a miracle. A draw wouldn't be too bad, but I really want Nunez to smash City heads!

Is it terrible that Sundays like these determine how the rest of the week will be for us? =)

One bench will be full of kids and the other filled with elite senior players.
Still, if anyone can win these kind of games, it's us. This time I'd be thrilled with a draw though.

Yeah, City more or less at full strength, while our soldiers are a batallion of greenhorns and injured vets just coming back in from the medics. Odds were below 3/1 all week before inching up above that, so clearly, money's heavy on City, no surprise. Possibly the last stage of the last decade's most exciting rivalry, I know I don't have to be Liverpool to say that!

This means more!
350  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏁🏎️ Sportsbet.io🏁 FORMULA 1 2024 Season🏁🏎️Prediction Pool Discussion Thread on: March 09, 2024, 07:37:05 PM
Well done on the 100 mbtc sponsorship -- thank you to Sportsbet, of course Wink

Kicking myself for not staying with Bearman (I actually put him in 6th originally, but an hour before the race dropped him out, and then what's worse, it pushed Norris out a spot, so I missed out on 1.5 points. Doesn't sound like a lot but we all know what a half point imeans in this pool.

I see cryptofrka is top this week. I normally would congratulate him but I decline comment for cheating bastards.
351  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Sportsbet.io ⚽ Spanish La Liga ⚽ Football Pool Discussion Thread 2023/2024 on: March 09, 2024, 06:31:05 PM
no comments here, but hard fought win for Barca, and they are back to no.2, didn't look as realistic just a few rounds ago, but Girona stepped down a bit lately
It was a matter of when not if with Girona. Realistically they couldn't have been expected to keep it up all the way till season end. That game against Real Madrid was the one that brought the reality back for them. Never been the same free flowing side after that one.

Yeah, the stats always showed them to be overperforming. I don't always keep track of teams but I remember Spurs doing that a lot, and Liverpool season after season -- it always bites back, if not the end of the season, then the one after. It's rather why I feel afraid for Liverpool next season. We're letting in fewer goals than we should be, and scoring a little more than we should. Going against the mean is not sustainable.

Then again -- Real have managed to overperform in the UCL season after season, and tournaments seem to be where you can continuously defy the average. So maybe there's something to adjust for in KO competitions, but in the league, numbers bring the truth out eventually.

Oh, and Atleti. The surprise bedshitters.
352  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: EFL English Championship League 2023/2024 on: March 09, 2024, 04:02:37 PM
^Nice picks so far on Saints. Ipswich didn't get the win I needed for BSFL (it wasn't important, ultimately, but I needed the win anyway). Foxes survived the first half so far, level again but yeah, they'll really need this win to keep up the momentum and I do want to see them back. They can afford to drop 3 points, but it's a long way on this final stretch.

Too much football for me to consume so will likely re-enter Championship into my bets towards the end.
353  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you ready to adopt the BTC program for your company? on: March 09, 2024, 12:59:33 PM
Not the interesting question to ask at all. The first ATM machines offering Bitcoin came a decade ago. The first hotels, flights, shopping, food delivery, giftcards, they all cwere available for me to use as far back as 2016. Pretty sure they were there before that.

This forum and elsewhere had plenty of businesses doing Bitcoin transactions.

But now in 2024, you have harder access to these services. Want to pay in crypto now? More merchants maybe but only crypto cards settling in fiat. Fewer pure crypto accepting merchants because there are not enough customers.

So the questiom, really, is are you ready to use Bitcoin? And no, showing your Coinbase wallet balance is not the same.

Qarabag are a quite interesting team... They fought really well against Leverkusen. They will probably find themselves out of the Europa League by the end of the rematch but it is still pleasing to watch their football.  Smiley

Champions League veterans, don't forget Wink Somewhat joking but yeah, this was just moments away from being a glorious upset -- Leverkusen probably came away feeling lucky their undefeated status this season is still intact. Alonso must be pinching himself, how do you go an entire 30+ games without losing, when there was absolutely no indication (to me) last season that this run of games was coming.

Super possession, the return of extreme short passing? Or just an outlier?
355  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏁🏎️ Sportsbet.io🏁 FORMULA 1 2024 Season🏁🏎️Prediction Pool Discussion Thread on: March 08, 2024, 01:14:55 PM
Sainz is replaced by Bearman now, I just got the Superbru notify, apparently surgery for appendicitis so expect him to be out at least one more race after this. Doing you all a nice favour by telling you to replace him if you've made your picks, too early in the season to be nasty, heh heh heh.

Ultimately, I left Bearman in my line, just lower down the positions. No idea about him but Ferrari has a good enough machine, no?
356  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⭐⚽⭐ Sportsbet's Bitcointalk Sports Fanatics League (BSFL) – 10000$ rewards ⭐⚽⭐ on: March 08, 2024, 12:03:29 PM
Don't know much about NBA (actually, know next to nothing) but my pick was based purely on average points per minute of the last few games and Durant was so far behind I didn't even consider him. Then he posts a haul way above his average. That's how it goes for BSFL, doesn't it?

CLS63 had I known Falcons were all-stars, I'd have picked them to win, but on hindsight, I want an OG to prove themselves. Never mind, I'll consider you win DOTA and we have 3-3. That leaves Ollie and Liverpool to take me home. Books only give City the slight favourites edge but that's too much respect for Liverpool squad in tatters (Konate also got injured last night). If I were a neutral, 22/10 on City? Absolute value.

Liverpool in the past have had stronger lineups, I don't ever recall ever getting odds lower than 3/1 versus City. That's just sentiment going to the market. Sadly, I'm part of it. COYR!
357  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Odds, units advantage | Sportsbook | +97043 units on: March 08, 2024, 11:25:37 AM
Bayern played silky football, Kane scored twice, and Lazio were wiped off the UCL map. Ordinarily, this means I look elsewhere, but Bayern didn't actually solve their problems, struggling with creativity and if Kane has an off-day, problems? I think so, and Mainz at over 10/1 seems to me a decent outcome to put some money on.

100 units at Sportsbet on Mainz to WIN vs Bayern Munich @10.63. Other odds: 10.10. Units advantage: 53

Running advantage after 75 bets: +7849 (+53)
All-time cumulative: +97,619
Running units after 74 bets (5W|69L): -3092 (-100)
358  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Conference League Discussion Thread -- 2023/24 | Group Stage playoffs on: March 07, 2024, 10:16:55 PM
Quite the surprise with Tel.Aviv winning against Olympiakos right ? Also the score is quite shocking as well as 4-1 defeat kinda makes the comeback impossible. I think this happened because Greek league this year is super close and first 3 teams are very tight for title fight that could go until last game so no wonder why Olympiakos had no gas today.

Not the only heavy surprise as Fenerbahce smacked USG well, I know quite a few happy people tonight because of that result. Brugge the other Belgian heartbreak.

Them Israeli teams make good underdogs, I've always thought that. Just a long fall from grace for the Greeks. On the other hand, Fiorentina went to Haifa and got a win.

It's Conference League, I guess. Might as well put money on the dogs.

Expextected goals and fun game between Ajax and Aston Villa,

Blame Ajax, always.
359  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Europa League Discussion Thread -- 2023/24 | Last 16 on: March 07, 2024, 05:57:20 PM
two main favorites have not that easy away matches, Leverkusen is facing Qarabag, while Liverpool will face Sparta
not sure will they pull main strength in first match to make re-match only a formality, or just try to not end-up having to chase score at home
especially Liverpool, considering they have "match of the season" against City on weekend, playing full strength on Thursday night in Czech republic doesn't seems as best decision prior to Sunday match, we will see

there is also a classic between Benfica and Rangers, cheering to Scots to go into next round

I'm backing Rangers too, and breathe easy now with an early penalty converted. Actually missed the entire incident, by the time I tuned it he was already lining up to take the shot. Just taking in the fact that Mac Allister started, along with Nunez, Salah on the bench. Everyone else minus Quansah is a strong candidate for first-choice, so it's a much stronger side than I expected, and by the time they arrive back in England it'll only be 2 full days to recover. I guess the first-team players won't mind, they've been a while away and need to shake off rust.

Enjoy the games, friends!

I cant believe what im hearing about that case, its incredible how shit of person is Josh Verstappen making all this drama when his son is winning easily thanks to RB, pathetic and a giant EGO.

Had to Google this, for some reason this completely flew by my radar (which is strange since I'm in NL and I get pushed a hell lot of Verstappen news). I never liked it when football players' parents somehow became involved in the news, it's worse there because you've got a whole club sentiment that could get affected but not sure if it's the same impact in F1.

Just can't stand circuses.

Not affecting son's performance, though. Fastest in practice today. Surprise, surprise.
