It would baffle a lot of people and the fact that you measure satoshi's worth in wealth helps explain that.

It was never, at least not solely, intended to be just about wealth. And when the purpose appeared to be achieved, there was no reason for them to stay, snd every reason for them to depart, allowing for natural progression.

That single move is probably a big reason Bitcoin is where it is today.

Damn! It's not going well for me in the Benfica -Porto game. Benfica just scored two fast goals and it's 68th minute of the game. There is still a chance but it looks like me and Buwaytress will be tied after today. And I was so looking forward getting a 2-0 head start... Sad

Yeehaw! This is perfect demonstration of gut saying Benfica we're way better than Porto last season, betting instinct saying Porto are higher value and me telling myself that BSFL must not listen to betting instinct...

Also, I see many Runes and Tsitsipas in answers, and you guys have an early disappointment from those guys ha.

Truly a sad day for me personally to hear that United has finally relinquished their most prized possession. No longer will hope spark in my wretched heart each time I see Maguire's name in the starting lineup. Even my secondary hero de Gea will no longer ply me with memories. It's all up to Onana now to keep me happy.

re the list, I don't see my name there. I paid a while back in the signup thread, did I also need to PM? Somehow missed that, PM sent! In fact, paid for cls63 and his name's there =D

Hey Jath, lifelong goober fan, huh? Last season must have been tough to swallow but personally, am hoping you guys don't take such a big hit to this season's performance.

As long as you and Liverpool keep lighting up the league, sure, right?

I might sound like dull Jack but yeah, each time we step up to support, I'm expecting it to break -- only temporarily. Even if it's a series of breaks after that as a result, though, I'm all right to hang in there -- as is the bulk of long-termers -- until the system flushes out the short-termers.

For me, really no point for a rally that won't sustain pre-halving.
1286  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⭐⚽⭐ Sportsbet's Bitcointalk Sports Fanatics League (BSFL) – 7000+$ rewards ⭐⚽⭐ on: August 09, 2023, 04:53:43 AM

PSV Eindhoven and Braga managed to score five goals, which aligned with my prediction. However, my opponent @famososMuertos went with 3-4, but we have many different responses. We will wait until the final moments of the match to see.

Wow... So many messages since I reas the thread the last time. I'm on a vacation so I don't have much online time but it seems that I managed to get one point against buwaytress. That's great since I didn't do any research Smiley

Perfect start for you! Maybe I finally lose this round, eh?

I actually only researched tennis (the draw) and Women's WC -- but yeah the rest were football and I followed personal wisdom. Liverpool-Chelsea should be a draw but my gut there, also Real not winning seems practical but I like them on their opening game.

Interestingly, we only have 2 more different answers, and that's the 2 questions I needed to look up (tennis and WWC). Nice to know we have similar gut choices =D

Edit: saw wrong, we have 3 diff answers!
1287  Economy / Speculation / Re: Adam Back's Bullish Bet on: August 08, 2023, 06:32:47 PM
Not with him, but only because of my arbitrary belief in the post-halving cyclical rally, rather than anything else. If global economic conditions weren't so dire, I might fancy a hopeful fling in the 100k direction but I think real-life macro pressures will not help any kind of rally.

Cheap marketing, and looks like it worked.

Curious, but not enough to see myself: did they use conditioned escrow or something for this? That might have been cool.
1288  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Africa Football Discussion || Current Topic: WAFCON in FIFA Women's World Cup/23 on: August 08, 2023, 05:01:00 PM
Our super falcons are indeed very talented! All our players played to perfection the role that they were given to play and it is such a pity that they could not win England on penalties even after having a  decision of penalty first ruled out, then the red card.

Another explanation of how the super falcons were in this competition, but no evidence again, they did not win!

I would have lost money actually if Sportsbet accepted my bets -- I was eyeing England to win in ET (9/1) but my bets kept getting rejected. Both were 19/10 to qualify once markets settled but I stay away from those Wink

Still a good showing, you need to show them more love!

Having 20 shots and just two been on target tells you have poor the girls are, going forward. England had just 12 and they got 4 on target. We couldn't capitalized on a 10 woman team to win the game.

That was what struck me -- all due respect but in women's, you convert more goals by just being on target and finishing appears to be really poor for Nigeria. Tough luck...
1289  Other / Meta / Re: Igebotz Nigerian Local Board Merit Source Application on: August 08, 2023, 03:57:07 PM
I'm hardly active or aware of meta, actually still new to me to see there are merit applications but when I heard Igebotz was applying, I thought I'd throw my support behind it. Don't know the fella outside of the gambling sub but he is one of the more active posters worth reading -- initially appearing brash but as someone above said, actually reflective of strong opinion, with different slants.

I believe he would make an effort to (formally) recognise good content with merit, perhaps with an eye slightly different from those already looking. The diversity in opinion and styles of this forum is what makes it special and the same should reflect in merit sources.

Sad news about the stabbing. Apparently in the Dutch leagues as well, hooliganism is rearing its ugly head (new rules on games postponement last season came into effect). There are many things I miss from football of the previous century but hooliganism is not one of them.

I'll submit a bit early too. France has an unassailable lead surely.

Harkorede must be a bad at PK, how you were able to beat him despite coming to the PK with one man less and still won. Your present unbeaten streak is unnerving; deep down, I want to beat you so hard, but my players keep making mistakes; I'm not at your game right now, and I don't want to meet you in the Cup - yes, I'm saying it unashamedly.

I'm not doing much different this season tbh so maybe my advantage so far is the questions are less about games I'm familiar with, so I'm thinking more objectively? Who knows. I'll enjoy this as much as possible! See you in cup, Sabi Ige!

Hey buwaytress I think I need to start asking insider betting tips from you!  Grin
You are doing amazing in BSFL Division 1 with first place, and you have great results in Cup, so maybe it is time for me to start doing your underdog tactics.

I'm the simplest betting person you'll ever meet - underdogs all the way, but for BSFL I take a more "educated" approach, like picking Arsenal double chance for PK and Haaland not scoring/assisting is actually not as terrible an option as we imagine. Community Shield is not taken seriously by City and they start seasons poorly. That said Harko lost by luck -- 3 extra minutes injury time owed to time-wasting got me the goal that won the tie.

@Trofo solid article as always -- you did get the wrong PK winner there though Wink Poor Harko heh heh.

1292  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MicroStrategy Turns Profitable with Bitcoin and Plans for More Growth on: August 08, 2023, 07:52:31 AM
Pretty good news, but I think it glosses over the fact that this was a gamble. Speculation using company reserves, that, at one point, was in real danger of liquidation (even by his own admission). Don't be fooled into thinking this is ever a good strategy for any business to turn a profit from anything else other than what the business was meant to do.
And this is what the mindset of other CEO, this is gamble and they don't want to do is as what Michael Saylor does. Even Elon Musk have to liquidate something, although he has a excuse - but Twitter and needed some funds.

So for governments like El Salvador, it's really a risk and that's what the critics of Bukele to proved specially we are in the bear market. So in order for Saylor and his MicroStrategy to be profitable, he just have to wait for the next bull run and see how high it will go.

They don't need to, and they aren't (those who consistently do fail a lot, why do you think there are big scadals like FTX? because CEOs gamble).

The point here is, good for MS and Saylor but we don't need that good news for Bitcoin -- if anything it cements Bitcoin's misrepresentation as purely a speculative tool. I don't think Bukele does it the right way, but I also don't think it can be compared to Saylor...

And... about the last thing you mentioned, I "stopped" by to thank (everyone involved) for the last freebet ($30), which were divided into 3 bets of $10, although I didn't succeed, I liked dividing the temptation into 3 bets, in this case not to to confuse the friends above in the appointment those freebet correspond to the BSFL promotion, oh, also to Jeremy for being the guy in charge of that control to freebet, by the way freebet in USDT.

I'm okay with either option, but have really enjoyed the last few rounds of freebets won mainly from prediction contests but last big one of £40 was split into 4 bets won from BSFL. Allowed me to spread my risk across more sports... although I wonder if  I would take greater care had it all been lumped into one ha.

Brain anyway sees these as worthy of high risk odds so I suppose it never matters!

My "big tip" for the day is double chance on Jamaica today at 4/1.
1294  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Africa Football Discussion || Current Topic: WAFCON in FIFA Women's World Cup/23 on: August 07, 2023, 09:29:33 AM
Nigeria guys, what a team! I don't follow and I don't know what's been going on behind the scenes with coaching and team buildup but you know how to defend! England red card is the perfect sum of what the objective was.

Too bad they didn't get the regular time win, I suppose the HT ML odds just got me greedy -- need to be more pragmatic and back the qualification lines instead.

On to ET! I see loads of supported in this thread. Feeling lucky, boys? Surely someone placed bets... share!
1295  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Be rich sheeple or free people, what's your choice? on: August 07, 2023, 09:12:38 AM
I'd probably go for option B though -- $30k with over a million coins puts me mostly out of range of my own capacity to spend. And I'd definitely want to see a lot of the world that the status quo otherwise wouldn't allow me to (those who don't play by the rules I mean).

I don't know if OP thought of that, but this one is actually a trap!

He said that the price will be forever 30 000$ , and since the dollar value in purchasing power will continue to go down this actually means you're basically stuck with fiat, in 20 years those 30 000 might be rent money for a few months.
So, if it's indeed a trick question the second option is way worse than the first!

I did think of that -- but while I'm certain fiat will only accelerate its value-losing trend, I'm still certain it'll hang on to a bit. Two decades I'm ready to say dollar numbers quadruple to today's figures (in effect, $7500 per coin of today's purchasing power) so still okay.

It's all fantasy guesstimates of course, but the other thing is in 20 years I am, sadly, close to my national shelf life. I suppose I'll be, if still around, rather too old to worry by then heh.

The yellow cards Beckham miss, yeah that cost me dearly -- I don't think I've ever made a mistake in BSFL before, fine time to make my error, keep telling my team, you don't backpass without checking to see where your keeper is, but nobody listens until it's time.

Didn't think 0-0 would stay so long, thought even less that there'd only be 1 shot on target from Citeh until 75th, but then the floodgates opened... thought it was all over for me long before Palmer scored. Shouldn't have won this, but thank you Gooners =D

I'll PM you Harko Wink

If you're richer than satoshi (assuming you're thinking of the 1 million coins), then what does it matter, really, either way?

I'd probably go for option B though -- $30k with over a million coins puts me mostly out of range of my own capacity to spend. And I'd definitely want to see a lot of the world that the status quo otherwise wouldn't allow me to (those who don't play by the rules I mean).

I wouldn't be half mad to be forced to go for Option A though. Poor question. Would be harder to choose if you applied a specific number of coins to each option.

Thanks for the clarifications on my penalty answer, with Watford 4 goals up at HT, this will end in a draw, and I still have a chance, but Harko will be really pleased to see my answers heh.

Sorry, Ige. Time to step up against The 'Rede!

Steve announcement coming? Saints had a nice intro to the Championship. Which jersey will we all be playing to win this season?

And to continue commentary on WWC, Japan smashes Norway? I mean, I was blown away by how players 2/3 of Spain's height could beat the, and then they up the game against even taller Norwegians. Can hardly believe this tournament so far. Can Nadeshiko continue this run and win it all?
