341  Economy / Economics / Re: Nigeria leads sub-Saharan Africa’s P2P bitcoin trade on: August 29, 2021, 12:13:14 PM
You are free to come with the other dozens of p2p platforms that are used in Nigeria and have the same volume as Paxful does, as I work with the data people are publishing and drawing conclusions from that, So, if you want to challenge my assumption, come with data.
If people in Nigeria would indeed use bitcoin on the par of the US as they claim, probably there won't be a difference of volume in LN channels of 1,049.709162220 BTC  to 0.00356253 between those, right?

LOL.. people are free to claim whatever they like. Who in their right mind will claim that the trade volumes in Nigeria can be compared to those in the United States? That is just deranged. For starters, the monthly salary in Nigeria is around 1/50th of those in the United States. And I am really skeptical whether the internet penetration and technological know-how in Nigeria is as good as that in the US. But it is entirely another topic, when you compare Nigeria with the other countries in the neighborhood.
342  Economy / Economics / Re: Only young and naive guy believe in high risk high return on: August 29, 2021, 12:01:11 PM
Taking high risk doesn't guarantee you a high return every time. It is a really ridiculous saying I think. If you fall for it, there is a high probability for you to lose maybe all of your investment amount or most of it. In this market, taking higher risks can take you to really interesting places. So I think that the best thing to do is to make a regular investment into some coin and go on with it.  Grin

If there is accountability in place, then there is no issue in taking a certain amount of risk. But from what I have seen, there is no accountability with 90% of the projects. If the project fail, only the investors and the bounty hunters suffer losses and the promoters will just move on to other projects. This has resulted in a scenario where the promoters get too complacent. Since they don't lose much even if the project fails, the development work slows down, or halts completely once the ICO is completed. The investors may still get back some of their money, but for the bounty hunters it is a loss making exercise.

^^^ Ireland is currently at 7th position in the table, but it will be hard for them to maintain it. They have played a total of 12 ODIs - won 3 and lost 8. One ended in no result. The 8th placed New Zealand on the other hand have played just 3 ODIs (and won all three). Ireland has played half of their available 24 matches, including a three-match series against Netherlands. They had a good opportunity to get 30 points, but they managed to win only one out of the three matches against Netherlands. Now they need to win at least 5-6 out of their remaining 12, and that too against tough opponents.
344  Economy / Economics / Re: Pakistan's Economy are going to crisis for Taliban? on: August 26, 2021, 04:59:05 AM
Why would Pakistan’s economy suffer? You’re talking as if Afghanistan and the Taliban are interdependent. But the fact is, it’s the Taliban that is dependent on Pakistan's support, not vice versa.

The only reason why Pakistan’s economy could suffer problems is if because of providing support for the Taliban other countries might impose sanctions.

That will never happen. Pakistan has always supported the Taliban (even when the NATO forces were fighting them in Afghanistan), and they never faced any sanctions for that. However this was one of the reasons why the FATF (Financial Action Task Force) included them in the "grey list". In it's statement FATF claimed that Pakistan continues to support terror organizations such as Taliban, Al Qaeda, Jaish-e Mohammad and Lashkar-e Toiba. Pakistan responded by claiming that the FATF imposed sanctions as a result of pressure tactics from India.

@Sithara007 when does the team management ask Pujara and Kohli to be dropped, because these two are not performing at all and had it been any other play they would have been dropped by now. Lastly you’ll are right as it’s indeed arrogance which cost team India this match, and now they’ll need a miracle to survive in this match.

LOL.. did you meant Pujara and Rahane? I don't think that the team management has the balls to drop Kohli, even if he doesn't make a 50 plus score for the next three years. One reason why the selectors don't want to mess up with the team composition is due to the fact that the team is performing so well. After Kohli became the captain, India has been winning matches in SENA countries on a regular basis. And now the dependence on Kohli has also been reduced, with Rohit and Rahul scoring most of the runs.
346  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Undervalued Coins on: August 25, 2021, 04:03:49 AM
I could write down dozens of such "undervalued" coins, but the truth is that these coins are very unlikely to recover. Cryptocurrencies such as XLM went down, because more technologically advanced cryptocurrencies took it's place. And in most cases, the promoters and developers will move on to other projects, rather than trying to revive it. So any chance of a future recovery is stunted. But in some cases, certain cryptocurrencies have made remarkable recoveries. ADA is the perfect example. Lost 99% of its value in 2018, and then recorded a new ATH in 2021.
347  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-08-21] Inside Afghanistan's cryptocurrency underground as the country plu on: August 25, 2021, 03:45:45 AM
The defeat of the Afghan national army actually took place much earlier, and it all started with US negotiations with the Taliban in which everything was actually agreed. For some reason known only to them, they decided to withdraw from the country and leave it to those they had fought against for 20 years.

OK.. I got it. But still don't understand one point. If they had to leave Afghanistan like this, then what was the point in spending around $1 trillion from the US tax revenue there? They spent a larger amount in Iraq ($2 to $3 trillion), but in this case at least some of the American corporations got control of the oil fields. But the Afghan involvement was a loss making proposition for the United States. They spent $1 trillion, and didn't got anything in return. And obviously, this loss will be covered by printing a few trillion USD worth of banknotes by the federal reserve.
348  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-08-21] Inside Afghanistan's cryptocurrency underground as the country plu on: August 24, 2021, 05:45:09 AM
Ironic in all of this is knowing that the population of Afghanistan outnumbers the Taliban terrorists, but the population does not unite to fight the terrorists and expects other countries to do the dirty work. i like bitcoin but in case of afghan problems the solution is in the hands of the afghan people, if the afghan people just watch the terrorists do what they want then nothing will change for the better anytime soon

The Afghan national army numbered 350,000 as per official sources, but most of these soldiers existed only in paper. The real strength was in five digits. And even these guys had no apatite to pick up fight with Taliban. When the Jihadis came, they just signed deals with them, handed over their weapons, equipment and uniform, and returned to their hometown. That is how Taliban managed to conquer all of Afghanistan in a matter of few weeks, with just tens of thousands of fighters. And the national currency will become devalued and many of the Afghans will be forced to use foreign currencies (Pakistani Rupee, Iranian Rial.etc), or cryptocurrency.
349  Economy / Economics / Re: After 1 year of Covid 19 Virus on: August 24, 2021, 05:33:20 AM
It has nothing to do with where it comes from, in all those countries there are the main vaccines, such as those from Pfizer, Jhonson & Jhonson and others, the question and logic says: "If there is already a vaccine, it must provide immunity" for example in In the case of Colombia, people who have injected the 2 doses of Pfizer still got sick and some died, so where is the effectiveness? It makes no sense for me to vaccinate if the effectiveness is below 33%, this is my personal perception, since pfizer is going for the 3rd dose, and I am sure that at any moment another strain will appear and they will continue to create more vaccines, so stop Me, All this is a business model, and it is very logical, there will come a time when this vaccine will have to be paid for for those who want to be more immunized, this is what I think, obviously in the news or whatever means they will say it is They need to get vaccinated, but according to my understanding, they have to wait at least 4 or 5 years so that they can study the virus well and get an efficient vaccine at least 90% acceptable.

Pfizer has an efficacy of 42% against the delta variant, and not 33% as you claim. It is low, but you need to keep in mind that it offers more than 99.5% efficacy against hospitalization, even from the mutant strains. It is very simple actually. You can analyze whether you will be better off with the vaccine or not. The available data makes it clear that those who are vaccinated are 200 times less likely to die from the delta variant, compared to those who are unvaccinated. And regarding the third booster dose, there is nothing we can do about it. As long as we don't have a better option, it needs to be taken.
350  Economy / Economics / Re: After 1 year of Covid 19 Virus on: August 23, 2021, 08:03:14 AM
For example, a recent study found that the Pfizer vaccine is only 42% effective against the delta variant. But the same study found that those who got two doses of the Pfizer vaccine are 200 times less likely to die from the infection. So these two needs to be distinguished. On the other hand we have the Chinese vaccines (Sinopharm and Sinovac), which are neither effective, nor offers any protection from hospitalization.

Where can I read about effectiveness of vaccines? I've got two Pfizer vaccine shots. Your post made me disappointed. All the time I thought that I'm more protected than others, but now it turns that my chances to die are simply much lower. I still can catch something and it might damage my organs...

I'm about to have my first abroad vacation during pandemic period. The vacation is already half spoiled, because most of places I can not simply visit even with vaccine certificate. In addition, I can be reverted back home after landing, because of silly rule "your kid got covid confirmed", while he is much younger than 12 years (in our country only people who are older than 12 years old can be vaccinated).

Check this:

https://www.reuters.com/business/healthcare-pharmaceuticals/moderna-may-be-superior-pfizer-against-delta-breakthrough-odds-rise-with-time-2021-08-09/

The article was published two weeks ago, based on a study done by Mayo Clinic Health System. The sample size was huge (>50,000) so I am sure that the numbers they are providing are closer to the truth. And the worst part is that Moderna is proving to be much more effective when compared to Pfizer. The former is 76% effective against the delta strain, while the latter has only 42% efficacy. Also, a study in Israel claims that the efficacy of mRNA vaccines get reduced after 6-7 months of the second dose.
351  Economy / Economics / Re: PayPal cryptocurrency trading volume beyond expectations on: August 23, 2021, 07:50:04 AM
^^^ So UK is the second country after the United States, where PayPal is allowing their users to purchase Bitcoin? I guess soon they will make Bitcoin available on their platform, in all the countries where it is 100% legal. This is proving to be mutually beneficial, to both the cryptocurrency users and to the PayPal shareholders. I am sure that the increase in PayPal quarterly profits is at least partially due to the inflow of funds from cryptocurrency users. The traditionalists are going to be disappointed, but ordinary Bitcoin users don't care.  Grin

Did anyone saw some of the memes that has been getting around related to the future sports activities in Afghanistan. For now the Taliban needs everything under their control. Afghanistan looked highly progressive as a new team, and we as an outsider doesn't know in what situation they've practiced and progressed. Now the pain is big, it takes long to reach and get co-ordinated.

It is sad. Afghanistan was perhaps the team that made maximum progress during the last 10-12 years. They started off as an affiliate member, then progressed to an associate, and then finally they received the test status in 2017. And unlike many of the other associate nations, Afghanistan never relied on expat players. Now all that progress is lost. I don't know whether cricket will survive under Taliban rule. Some of the national players are based outside the country, but the domestic cricket will be disrupted.
353  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [2021-08-20]Coinbase is buying $500 million in crypto and investing future prof on: August 22, 2021, 01:51:33 PM
So they are going to keep 10% of their annual profit in the form of cryptocurrency. As per the S-1 statement, their PAT is $1.14 billion. So that means an investment of $114 million per year, or around $9 million per month. Not a bad amount, I would say. And hopefully this amount will go up, as their profit increases. It will be interesting to know the breakup of their investment. Are they going to invest primarily in BTC or is their portfolio going to be altcoin heavy? This was one of the mistakes made by Overstock. They went primarily for altcoins in 2014 and it sunk them.
354  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: {Boxing} Manny Pacquiao vs Yordenis Ugas on: August 22, 2021, 01:38:17 PM
WTF? What actually happened? How did Yordenis Ugás won the fight? This is like the worst thing that can ever happen to Manny Pacquiao. If he had lost to Spence, then it was still OK. But a loss to Ugas? It is really difficult to digest the outcome of this match. I understand that Manny, at 42 years was well past his prime. But we have seen other boxers like Mayweather giving very good performances even in their 40s. Anyway, I am glad about one thing. This time the jury didn't made any mistake. Their scorecard (115-113, 116-112, 116-112) matched with those from third parties like CBS Sports.
355  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Do any casinos offer cryptocurrency staking? on: August 22, 2021, 01:25:16 PM
I think sats below 30k will not get a reward but you can still earn sats from faucet to reach 30k so then you can get the reward. Freebitco.in is a recommended staking website so far. Although the reward is not bigger than the other site but that site still paying until now. I have some sats on that site and still getting a reward. Although the reward is small but I am okay with that. Hopefully, the bitcoin price can rise to the highest price so I can withdraw it and sell it at a profit.

Do you guys really trust Freebitco.in? What if they run away with all these coins? I don't understand how their business can be viable. With fiat currencies, it is possible to get an interest, because they are not protected against inflation. The purchasing power goes down every year, and the interest payment is like a compensation for this decrease in purchasing power. But this logic is not applicable for cryptocurrencies that are protected against inflation. So how can they pay this 4% interest and still return a profit? I understand that Freebitco.in has remained in business for so many years.. but what is the guarantee that they are not just another Ponzi?
356  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can bitcoin make someone the richest in the world? on: August 22, 2021, 01:13:38 PM
Satoshi's coins (BTC980,000 according to most reliable estimates) are worth $48 billion as per current exchange rates. The richest person in the world, Jeff Bezos is now worth $177 billion (after his ex-wife took away around one-fourth of his wealth). It is a very simple calculation. If Bitcoin exchange rates increase by another 269%, then Satoshi Nakamoto will be the richest person on the earth. But there is a catch though. We still don't know whether Satoshi is alive or not. And even if he is alive, we don't know whether he is having the private keys to access his coins.
357  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: South African Man Loses $900,000 Worth Of BTC After Accidentally Deleting Keys on: August 22, 2021, 01:01:15 PM
No sympathies for the individual. If you can't keep the keys securely, then you should not be investing in cryptocurrency in the first place. And for such people, nowadays there is an option of making their investment through third parties such as PayPal. So if you believe that backing up your wallet and enabling 2FA is too difficult, then you can just purchase and store your coins through a PayPal account. There is no room for complacency in the field of cryptocurrency. Your actions are permanent and irreversible. Always keep that in mind.
358  Other / Archival / Re: Global Crypto Adoption Has Grown By 880% on: August 22, 2021, 12:49:12 PM
These numbers make hardly any sense. Are they saying that Kenya is no.1 as far as growth in P2P volumes are concerned? And Togo is ranked no.2. Seriously? And the have ranked the United States at 109, India at 72 and Russia at 122. And China is at 155th rank! Rather than "growth in P2P volumes", they should be measuring the actual volumes. Because an increase from $10 to $10,000 may be calculated as 100,000%, while an increase from $100 million to $150 million will be calculated as just 50%. Completely ridiculous methodology used by these guys.
359  Economy / Economics / Re: Coinbase IPO was the largest IPO in 2021. 86 billion USD valuation on: August 22, 2021, 12:37:10 PM
I'm not surprised it was the biggest, as it's a company that's already known to crypto users, so there's a minimum risk of getting scammed, and they have 56 million users, so a huge community of people behind them. These two things sound promising enough to invest it because reputation + a huge user base almost guarantee the price will skyrocket. But that's a public offering, so it's about selling shares to people. That's what might have gathered attention not only of the crypto community, but of big stock traders as well, since getting into something crypto-related and yet familiar is getting more attractive to them.

Tech stocks have given good returns ever since the pandemic started. Top stocks such as AMZN, FB, TSLA and MSFT have given huge returns during the last 18 months, and I strongly believe that Coinbase also benefitted from the prevailing positive atmosphere. The markets are at all time high now, and a lot of experts claim that a correction is due in the near future. It will be interesting to see how new stocks such as Coinbase perform under such a scenario. And BTW, in case of Coinbase it was not an IPO. They went for direct listing. Please correct me in case I am wrong.
360  Economy / Economics / Re: Enjoy comunism (III) rats eating dead people and people eating rats in NK on: August 22, 2021, 12:25:09 PM
Totally agree with this one, there's no such thing as equal in communism, it's just a tyrant replacing another tyrant with the current tyrant saying that they're the savior of the people even though it's not the case. It's just so sad that this is also a test of loyalty because you won't suffer from the wrath of communism if you are utterly loyal towards the tyrants in power.

Communism has killed more people than any ideology other than organized religion in the recorded history. Mao Zedong caused 80 million deaths, while Josef Stalin is close behind with 60 million to his name. Then there are a few others like Pol Pot and Kim Jong Il, with a few millions to their name. If people still support this horrible ideology even after all this, then I have to say that they are delusional. Communism is an ideology that needs to be wiped out from the surface of earth, just like other horrible ideologies such as Nazism and Wahhabism.
