361  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Your biggest loss with cryptocurrencies? on: May 30, 2017, 10:17:21 PM
Lost about 0.8BTC due to gambling last year , damn I feel dumb after that .. And I never go gambling again , probably greed already consuming me last year .. I'm so sad and depresses lol ,.. Maybe I'll go invest on some promising alts

I can't stand gambling. I downloaded that "my vegas" app at the suggestion of some co-workers who have 250K gold coins and after a couple of hours wasted I'm up to a whopping 300 gold coins.. makes me wonder how much of their life they waste playing that crap... those games are so silly I have to mute the sound because they play on people's psychology, making them sound like winners when they broke even on a spin, lol.   If I could download a bot to play the game on windows for me, that's how I'd do it. lol  That's what I did when these same co-workers got me into Clash of Clans, which I quit when I maxed out Town Hall 7 after seeing how much of my life I'd have to waste to make further progress.  There's a reason I'm good at cryptos and the stock market.. because I spend spare hours researching that and not playing these time sink games that serve to waste one's life away.

After watching the free money drain down to nothing in 5 minutes, it makes me wonder how people can even get into gambling... at least the machines. If you're good at poker, blackjack, or have a lot of knowledge about sports or horse racing, that's different. A Milwaukee talk show guy named Mark Belling is into horses and posts his picks on the web.. he's gotten a few really big long odds winners in the last year which could have netted a person several thousand dollars on a 20 dollar bet. That's skill. Sitting at a slot machine, that's just flushing money down the toilet.
362  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: First to reach 1 Trillion $ on: May 30, 2017, 10:07:34 PM
I'll bet everybody in this thread $10,000 each that Apple or Google reach a Trillion dollar market cap before bitcoin or any altcoin does. You game?
363  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: When will the alt bubble pop? on: May 30, 2017, 06:13:06 PM
It's ridiculous how Ethereum keeps going up, when will it stop?

Also isn't Litecoin undervalued at this point? Does this mean we are closer than ever to get segwit in Bitcoin?

How stupid is the altcoin market with all those coins going green all the time?

Will it correct son and we'll get all that capital going back to Bitcoin?
honestly ethereum's platform is better suited for overall market expansion because of smart contracts and such. Ethereum just passed 50% of bitcoins market cap and shouldn't stop as more projects open up on its platform

And NEM is better suited to be the reserve currency once mijin/catapault is implemented... Much faster transaction confirmations with lower fees.  Get tired of waiting 30-45 minutes for 3 confirmations?  No problem... Its why bitcoins marketshare is decreasing.
364  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: When will the alt bubble pop? on: May 30, 2017, 06:03:05 PM
It won't make bitcoin go up.... They'll all collapse together from margin calls and fiat withdraw.  Also a lot of people believe bitcoin is outdated with high fees and slow confirmation times and believe in the tech of block chains like NEM.
365  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What to invest in long term on: May 30, 2017, 04:56:39 PM
calm before the storm.....  watching that chart of BTC slowly start to roll over... if and when it does, there will be pain....
366  Other / Meta / Re: BAN ALL SIG CAMPAIGNS on: May 30, 2017, 04:12:54 PM
I don't really notice anything negative coming from it that is disruptive, nor do I care if someone ignores me because I have one. On the other hand, I wouldn't care if they banned it either, but that would be difficult to enforce on a case by case basis.. it would mean that anyone who mentions any coin in their sig could technically be campaigning for it.

If you want annoying signatures, try the wrestling forum. Large animated gifs taking up megs of bandwidth that show women jiggling their butts and other assorted space hogging nonsense.  The sigs here are not intrusive, and if people post replies just for the sake of pumping their garbage, it's not something I notice enough to care about.
367  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: WTS .0072 BTC for trust paypal on: May 30, 2017, 03:28:56 PM
I'm looking for an inexpensive way to build trust.  Could do this for ya.   15 bucks?  I wouldn't miss that even if I was scammed of it.

369  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Japanese Airlines to accept bitcoins soon on: May 30, 2017, 01:23:50 PM
Out of curiosity, how about the confirmation which needs to arrive? Is it just accepting zero-confirmation just like some bitcoin payment gateway do?. The average confirmation needs about 15 minutes to arrive and probably some people still have some time to wait for it until the plane's landing, but, how if the fee is just not enough and the transaction get stuck?.

3 practical issues i see

1. budget airlines = people not wanting to spend too much = why would they agree to a $1+ fee and wait ~10minutes-48 hours
2. many credit cards these days (if you avoid the normal domestic (country locked) ones do not charge much
2. many credit cards these days (if you avoid the normal domestic (country locked) ones do not take ~10mins-48 hours to accept payment. its just swipe and go in seconds

segwit will not fix spam
segwit will not fix confirm delays

locking funds into an LN is like locking funds into a contract with a second party (research multisig) you might aswell just use credit cards, bcause of all the cludgy crap core have done to push people into thinking LN is the utopian savour by removing all the benefits bitcoins mainnet had over fiat/cards

This is why a more robust blockchain technology like NEM's Mijin will take bitcoin's place eventually.  The fact that Japan tends to lead technological innovation is why NEM is more popular there while people here in the US hype segwit.
370  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: XEM - NEM - price speculation next 2 months on: May 30, 2017, 12:52:59 PM
Honest price prediction... if bitcoin rolls over and crashes to around $1300 which is still my expected outcome, NEM will fall to $1B market cap or less along with all over big altcoins that have gone up 20, 30, 50 fold over the last couple of months.  The crash will likely be like any other bubble in history, with years of low volume price consolidation before a new bubble builds.  Just because I think NEM should be valued higher doesn't mean the market agrees.  In fact Ethereum will likely be trading at $5B market cap sometime in the next year.

I think crypto in general is haunted by the 2014/15 bear market. I also think that won't happen again to such a brutal extent. It was down to factors that no longer are there.

There will undoubtedly be no shortage of crashing, but it'll feel distinctly lightweight compared to that.

I hope you're right!  More robust exchanges, more exchanges, with better customer service and quicker responses to change in market demand will help with demand. Also if an exchange that came along also became a legal bank, say coinbase became an actual bank where you write checks, can get CDs, etc.. that would go a long way with people feeling secure keeping more of their money in the crypto space.  I know they say they are FDIC insured but it's not the same in my eyes, though honestly the exchange has better security than most banks so I'm betting my funds would be fine there.

Even during the lull of 2016 when there was little in the way of activity, I see the same complaints about these exchanges taking days to respond to any customer issue.. simply unacceptable.  Part of the problem is a lot of the people who invest in crypto shun closed source, shun anything "establishment" and are somewhat anarchist in their way of thinking. As long as these conspiracy theorists call the shots, the crypto space will largely be somewhat unpredictable and insecure.  Nobody should have to invest in a computer disconnected from the internet to create a paper wallet where they store all their funds to avoid risking losing them, and risk having their altcoins disappear for days because an exchange is having withdraw issues. That's not the way crypto is headed for mass adoption.

Simple, secure, idiot proof solutions with wallets that are simplified and secure for the end user are the future.. like NEM's nanowallet only better.  Most likely the changes will be transparent to the end user, such as NEM's Mijin being used by banks without the end user even noticing the changes.  I maintain closing of the source of your unique tech and licencing it out is a smart business decision as well.. it will prevent people from simply copying your tech without remuneration.

Development will continue regardless of the price of the coins... NEM kept developing sitting there with a 20-30 million dollar marketcap throughout 2015 and 2016.  As hard as this is for people to comprehend.. these coins have no inherit value when everything is open source, because people can come along and copy the code and create their own version without having to pay anything to the original creator... the few coins that have remained somewhat closed source... Ripple, NEM, Xtrabytes, and others, have the most potential.

I still remember the days when all the coins ever made could fit on page 1 of coinmarket cap and there was no page 2... I remember thinking 80 crypto currencies? That's insanity! :p
372  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Next 100x on: May 30, 2017, 12:32:37 PM
VIA - this will go mental when SW and LN are live

I hope you're right. I own VIA and Xtrabytes.   Still, NEM's tech already surpasses what segwit brings to the table.. once Mijin is released NEM could easily replace bitcoin as a superior blockchain, but go up 100X?  Doubtful.   Right now Ethereum is a pumped whale pumped mostly by people using it's platform to issue scam ICOs of Tokens where they're gonna take the money and run. lol.. it doesn't have the scalability at 15 tx/sec to be a serious contender for the next bitcoin replacement...
373  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What to invest in long term on: May 30, 2017, 12:19:45 PM
I still think this is a dead cat bounce that's going to roll over in the next 5 days. I would stay out of cryptos unless the coin has a really low valuation that has been stable or has lots of potential. Although I love NEM I can't honestly recommend any top 20 coin here.

I'm thinking Xtrabytes which has already been mentioned, or Ark.  If the coin has gone parabolic the last couple months and has gone up 30X like dogeshit in the absence of any unique tech and active development, avoid the coin.   Everyone always think's that "it's different this time" when in a bubble... and almost universally they end up wrong. Of course it's possible we have not hit the top of the bubble yet... it will take massive buy volume to push bitcoin to a new record high vs having it roll over and have a margin call induced crash.

I personally believe NEM will take the number one spot and replace bitcoin as the medium of exchange all exchanges use to transact with altcoins within 2 years, however.  Once they release Mijin it will take off.  No more waiting 30-45 minutes for 3 confirmed transactions and big fees. However the more I dig the more I see there are a dozen alts that could do the same thing as any of the top 10 coins, because of the whole "open source" thing... which is why I'm glad NEM and Xtrabytes have not opened up all their source code for everyone to copy yet.   Seriously how many smart contract coins are out there now?  25 to 50?   As for the decentralized marketplace (bitbay) and cloud storage (siacoin) I don't see big demand until wallets are released where you don't have to download the whole blockchain.   Coins like NEM which have supernodes and nano wallets already take care of this.   Also I'm just not into 100% proof of work coins, period.
374  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [TOP 20] Market cap over/undervalued on: May 30, 2017, 12:10:43 PM
Marketcap is simply price multiplied by advertised outstanding shares. Whether there's a bunch of shares locked up in big hands or unrecoverable addresses or not is irrelevant. For example, something like 20% of the above ground gold is held by large governments. There's still a large amount of NEM locked up in supernodes and the development fund.  There's a wallet of 80,000 BTC that hasn't been used ever and is likely lost....

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1xTROekDerP1TPOB3SOD_1bbQr580BPqbhF3YHdO96pw/edit#gid=189298223

All stocks' marketcaps are determined in this manner.  Of course if everyone tried to cash out all their stock at once, they'd never get out the total marketcap because market caps are more like a game of musical chairs... it requires balanced supply and demand.   Even a slight increase in supply at any given moment would crash the share price unless the sellers set limit orders and refuse to sell below a certain price and don't start trying to outmaneuver each other with lower sell orders. Sell when everything is stable, like right now during this dead cat bounce when people are complacent and rhinos have large buy orders in place. You can then sell a bigger lump and have the market absorb it which is easier to do than during a crash. Smiley

Can you guys tell us why the whitepaper got delayed to the last minute ? It's the first time I see such a thing, most whitepapers are published weeks or even months before the ICO.

speculation... they know we are in a bubble and want to raise cash while the gettin's good. Sorry just the cynical side of me speaking. :p

I've got my 500,100 ready for when they finish the static chain and open up node registration again. Smiley  Nice move today.  Nice post clarifying the situation. We do live in a society where everyone wants instant gratification. If there's any help you might need on anything, this is my second favorite coin behind NEM so I thought I'd offer.
378  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: May 29, 2017, 07:06:39 PM
In compare to Ripple Nem is to expensive now !!!
Will be 0.10

say a newbie account ....

nem > xrp

XRP != Ripple. XRP token is useless while nem token is usefull for the nem network.

Please return to your dascoin Smiley

Not just a newbie account but promoting a website selling a coin for exorbitant prices that looks like a complete scam. Wink  Yes let's flush 25,000 Euros down the toilet when I could buy Xtrabytes with them and make a killing, or just some more NEM.
379  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Best Altcoin to invest in for 2017 and WHY !!! on: May 29, 2017, 05:00:53 PM
NEM is the bitcoin replacement. Bank on it.  It's the only top 5 coin with the scalability to handle whatever a business can throw at it.

Other coins I own...

Xtrabytes... static node technology is interesting

Viacoin... segwit despite being inferior to NEM is being hyped and this coin is trading pretty cheap and has an active development team that has revived the coin, plus it's already on poloniex. It's a cheap version of litecoin.

Ark

Coins I am currently investigating.... Bitbay
