381  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How far can I push lock_time? on: December 13, 2023, 11:16:46 PM
Is there a limit to how late a lock_time can be set to?
The maximum value you can set for the nlocktime is 4,294,967,295 (0xFFFFFFFF in hexadecimal system)
That's equivalent to February 7, 2106 6:28:15 AM.

If not, suppose I send out a transaction that's time-locked to 1 day/month/year/decade into the future.
it may worth mentioning that nodes reject any transaction with a locktime into the future.
If you have a transaction with a locktime into the future, you have to wait until its locktime and after that you will be able to broadcast it.

In particular, do later-time-locked transactions need higher transaction fees in order to keep the same probability of being included in a block at t ≥ lock_time?
We don't know how much fee rates will be required for getting confirmation in the future.
If the fee is low, as mentioned above by Charles-Tim, you will need to do CPFP after broadcasting the transaction in the future.
382  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Issues with bitcoin electrum transaction please help on: December 13, 2023, 08:44:11 AM
yesterday i bumped the fee too 150 sata and today i bumped it to 200 sata and also accelerated it on several places blockchain.com says the transaction is invalid. and viabtc says transaction unconfirmed. should i bump it to 250 or 300 sata?
To add to o_e_l_e_o's reply:

With increasing the fee rate of the CPFP transaction to 250 sat/vbyte, you would increase the effective fee rate of your transactions to around 48 sat/vbyte.
Now, such amount of fee rate would put your transactions around 0.5 vMB from the tip of the mempool and would likely give you fast confirmation.

Note that that the required fee rate may increase or decrease before you read this post.

ok and how about the consecutive winners?
There's the same probability of consecutive wins, if the chance of winning a single bet is 50%.
If you play the game 10,000 times, there's a more than 99% chance that you have 10 consecutive wins at least one time.

And this doesn't change the fact that with using martingale method, you don't increase your chance of winning.

It was thequin who shared it I think, like when you gamble 10+ thousand times like that, it becomes 50%+ chance to have at least one 10+ in a row loss,
If the chance of winning a single bet is 50% and you play the game 10,000 times, there's a more than 99% chance that you have 10 consecutive losses.
Even if you play the game half of that (5,000 times), there's around 91% chance to have 10 consecutive losses.
385  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: My Bitcoin transaction has been stuck in the mempool for two weeks please help! on: December 12, 2023, 03:11:30 PM
my transaction/ Bitcoin reversal via cash app was November 27th  57295b06730415dfcf8935078e964a8495751044e134dacee3aca70a89afe0ac
The fee rate used for this tranaction is very low and that's not even sufficient to be eligible to use ViaBTC free accelerator.

What do you mean by reversal?
Are you saying the transaction has been made by Cashapp?
If you are the receiver and you have full control over the receiving address, the only thing you can do is to use CPFP method.
CPFP means spending the unconfirmed coins in a new transaction with high fee, so that miners include both transactions in the same block.

Edit:
I just checked the transaction history of the receiving address and I doubt you have full control over that.
Where does the receiving address belong to?
386  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Issues with bitcoin electrum transaction please help on: December 12, 2023, 11:27:18 AM
......but i can not increase fee to the main amount only to the fee i boosted with the first time should i increase that fee even thow the main transaction is not confirmed?
Now you have two transactions.
The first one was made by someone else to your address. The second one was made by yourself for doing CPFP and that's the one you can increase its fee.
With increasing the fee rate of the second transaction, you will increase the effective fee rate of the first transaction and they will be both confirmed at the same time.
387  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: message Not enough funds. You need to set a lower fee. on: December 12, 2023, 09:37:36 AM
The problem is that the fees are so high right now that the transaction will drop if the fee rate is below 50 sat/vbyte
The netwoek isn't that congested now. With 50 sat/vbyte, the transaction would be around 2.5 vMB from the tip of mempools and it can be confirmed soon.

The purging fee rate is now around 11 sat/vbyte for any node with default mempool size.
If a transaction is made with the fee rate of less than 11 sat/vbyte, it would be rejected by most nodes.

Of course, it's possible to try connecting to different electrum servers until you find a one allowing to broadcast a transaction even with the fee rate of 1 sat/vbyte, but that's not helpful at all.

The best thing op can do for is wait fees to get lower... or get some more btc
Right.
388  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Issues with bitcoin electrum transaction please help on: December 12, 2023, 09:22:01 AM
I tryed all servers on the list still not showing in my history keep in mind that i have delated it on electrum maybe that has something to do with it?. what to do next?.
Are you saying you removed the local transactions?
No problem. Once you connect to a server that has your transactions in its mempool, they will reappear and you will see them again.

I just created a watch-only wallet using your address and I could find many servers that had your transactions in their mempool.
Here are three of them.

Code:
fortress.qtornado.com:443
fulcrum.grey.pw:51002
electrum.turboblaster.it:50002
389  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Issues with bitcoin electrum transaction please help on: December 12, 2023, 08:09:34 AM
The first transaction has been made with a very low fee rate. With making the CFPF transaction, you increased the effective fee rate to 10 sat/vbyte which is still insufficient for getting confirmation.

The fee rate used for the first transaction is lower than the purging fee rate for any node with default mempool size.
Therefore, some nodes have those transactions in their mempool and some don't have them.

If you want to see those transactions in your electrum wallet, you should try connecting to different servers until you find a one that have those transactions in their mempool.
After that, you will be able to bump the fee of the CPFP transaction.

If you are using the desktop version of electrum, click on the circle located at bottom right corner of window, right click on one of the servers listed there and select "Use as Server".
Try different servers until your transactions are displayed in the wallet.

If you are using the mobile version of electrum, tap on the circle located at top right corner of the screen, go to "Network" and then "Server Settings". After that, tap on one of the servers listed there and then "OK".
Try different servers until your transactions are displayed in the wallet.
390  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Taproot and bech 32 supported CEX on: December 11, 2023, 05:15:22 PM
I have already sign up to okex. I Facing Invalid error issue when use Bech 32 address. What would be issue with this address?
That's a P2WSH address and it's valid.
As already said, you can send fund from any type of bitcoin address to any type of bitcoin address.
If a service doesn't allow you to make withdrawal to a valid bitcoin address, that's just because it hasn't been coded properly.
391  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Maxtxfee - Servers problem. on: December 11, 2023, 04:57:46 PM
I just want to thank you for the last message, You are a real legend , thank you so much Merit ++
You are welcome.

I just checked your address and I see you have made two other transactions and the effective fee rate is now 42.1 sat/vbyte.
Unfortunately, the network has become more congested in the past hours and your transactions are still unconfirmed.

If you are a bit lucky, your transactions will be confirmed in the next few hours.
392  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Taproot and bech 32 supported CEX on: December 11, 2023, 01:33:46 PM
Take note that it's possible that a service doesn't allow you to make withdrawal to a certain type of address, but it's not possible that a service doesn't accept deposit from a certain type of address.
As mentioned above by Charles-Tim, you can send bitcoin from any type of address to any type of address.

But those two exchanges give you a choice to receive in Taproot address, which could be cheaper it terms of fees than send to native segwit or other types.
Sending to taproot addresses is not cheaper.
With any taproot output you add to your transaction, you increase the virtual size of the transaction by 43 vbyte.
That's 31 vbyte for a native segwit ouput, 32 vbyte for nested a segwit output and 34 vbyte for a legacy output.

More information on the topic created by Charles-Tim:
Pay-to-taproot (P2TR) transaction fee
393  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: message Not enough funds. You need to set a lower fee. on: December 11, 2023, 08:39:18 AM
If this does not work, the error may be due to trying to spend from inputs that have not been confirmed. Open Tools, then Preferences, and make sure that this option is not activated “Spend only confirmed coins”.
Since the version 4.4.0, there is no "Spend only confirmed coins" option in preferences.
Now we have that option in the window that pops up after clicking on "Pay" button.

In the case of using the android version of electrum, we have "Spend unconfirmed" option in preferences.
394  Other / Meta / Re: Question about mixer signature. on: December 10, 2023, 11:58:31 PM
I think that would be considered as advertisement and you would break rule number 24.

24. Advertisements (including signatures within the post area) in posts aren't allowed unless the post is in a thread you started and is really substantial and useful.
395  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Maxtxfee - Servers problem. on: December 10, 2023, 06:41:28 PM
We need that funds for urgent project and yes we want to sped another 480$ on fee.
As I said in my previous post, even if you bump the fee of your CPFP transaction to 20,000 sat/vbyte and spend another $480 worth of bitcoin, you would increase the effective fee rate to 35.5 sat/vbyte and that's still insufficient for getting fast confirmation.
Of course, that will surely help you get confirmation faster.

We have Confirmed coins inside the wallet and we have a doubt that this may Affect other coins, and block the entire wallet.
That wouldn't change anything.
For doing CPFP you should spend the fund received in the unconfirmed transaction.

We have already performed the CPFP inside electrum and it doesn't give us the option to create another child transaction only to increase fee which seems impossible to do it above 10k sats
There is no CPFP option in right-click menu for a transaction that has been made for doing CPFP itself and that's why I suggested making another CPFP transaction manually.

In your CPFP transaction, you sent the unconfirmed output from bc1q4stj....... to bc1qkxy......
Now you should spend the same fund from bc1qkxy..... to another address with high fee.

To make the CPFP transaction manually:

  • Copy a bitcoin address to your clipboard.
Take note that this address will receive the unconfirmed coins. So it should be your own address.

  • Go to "Coins" tab.
If you don't see "Coins" tab, click on "View" at top of the window and check "Coins".

  • Find the coin you received in the CPFP transaction, right click on it, select "Fully spend" and then "send to address in clipboard".
Note that the coin you should select is worth 0.558xxxxx BTC.

  • Enter the desired fee rate and make the transaction.
As I already said, if you make the transaction with the fee rate of 10,000 sat/vbyte, it would have the same effect as bumping the fee rate of your CPFP transaction to 20,000 sat/vbyte.

In this way, you will increase the effective fee rate of your transaction to 35.5 sat/vbyte and if you want to increase it more, you should make the third CPFP transaction.
At the time I am writing this post, around 40 sat/vbyte is required for getting fast confirmation.
396  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Maxtxfee - Servers problem. on: December 10, 2023, 03:01:14 PM
So, you made a CPFP transaction with the fee rate of 10,046 sat/vbyte and the total fee of 0.011 BTC.
Now, you want to bump the fee rate of this transaction to 20,000 sat/vbyte.

Since you say you tried different electrum servers and none of them allowed you to broadcast the replacement transaction, one solution is to export the raw transaction, broadcast it using other tools and see if they allow you to do so.

Here are some broadcasting tools.

The other solution is that you make a new CPFP transaction instead of bumping the fee of the previous one. Note that in this way, you will add another unconfirmed transaction to your wallet.
To do so, you need to make the new CPFP transaction manually with spending the fund from bc1qkxy......... to one of your own addresses.
If you make this transaction with the fee rate of 10,000 sat/vbyte, it would have the same effect as bumping the fee rate of your CPFP transaction to 20,000 sat/vbyte and it would increase the effective fee rate of your transaction to 35.5 sat/vbyte which is still insufficient for getting fast confirmation.

Take note that you have already spent $480 worth of bitcoin for doing CPFP and you will spend another $480 worth of bitcoin for making another CPFP transaction or increasing the fee rate of your current CPFP transaction.
Also note that you may need to use coin control, if you have other funds in your wallet and you want to make a new CPFP transaction manually.
397  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Maxtxfee - Servers problem. on: December 10, 2023, 09:59:09 AM
Please read the post again before jumping,
I read your post and I just explained what the error message tells us.

Fees exceed maximum configured by user (referring to settings like -Maxtxfee, Maxfeerate)

The error message is clear.
According to the message, the node didn't broadcast your transaction because the fee rate you used for your transaction was higher than Maxfeerate or the total fee was higher than Maxtxfee.
398  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: seed phrase help on: December 10, 2023, 09:04:58 AM
This should be the correct process. Although I'm not sure I understand thr part about you using 4 words plus a letter? What do you mean by that?
According to the post made by OP in another thread, he/she has 4 words and a single character.
how to access from phrases only.

Mind you electrum is a word sensitive wallet, if your seed phrase is correct but you type in UPPER CASE instead of lower case it will open either new one or not you have to check the first like to confirm your spelling then write in the correct/type case
If a seed phrase has been generated by electrum, it's not case-sensitive.
If you have a BIP39 seed phrase and you import it into electrum, you should use lowercase letters. Otherwise, you will see a message saying "unknown wordlist" and you will generate a different wallet.

To OP:
You didn't need to create a new topic for your issue. You had already created a topic about your issue and it's much better to continue there.
399  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Need help on: December 10, 2023, 01:11:43 AM
I'm going to import the wallet to my Electrum wallet now and see if that works.
With importing your wallet into electrum, you will be able to use Coin control feature. Electrum also flag transactions as RBF and that would be helpful if you have an unconfirmed transaction and you want to increase its fee.
But with importing your wallet into electrum, you won't really make your wallet more secure, because you would still use the wallet that has been generated by trustwallet. Trustwallet is close-source and there is no way to know how the keys are generated.

I recommend you to create a new wallet in electrum and send your fund to your new wallet. You can wait until the fees drop and then do that.

Given the error you got in trustwallet, you may have several small UTXOs.
If that's the case, I also recommend you to use coin control to avoid paying excessive fee and consolidate your inputs when fees are not high.

The topic created by LoyceV may be helpful to you.
[Dec 2023] Fees are high, wait for opportunity to Consolidate your small inputs

If trust wallet isn't the best wallet, which do you recommend for storing Bitcoin and also altcoins?
For bitcoin, electrum is surely a good option.
I am not much familiar with altcoins wallets, but I think unstoppable wallet should be a good option.
400  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Maxtxfee - Servers problem. on: December 10, 2023, 12:41:52 AM
The server doesn't allow you to broadcast the transaction because the fee is too high.
I think you wanted to pay 20,000 sat as transaction fee, but you mistakenly set the fee rate to 20,000 sat/vbyte. If that's the case, you were lucky that the server didn't broadcast your transaction.
