3842  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin Episode on The Julian Assange Show? on: June 18, 2012, 10:15:52 PM
I kinda doubt a Swiss court will allow house arrest for what Assange is charged with if he is convicted. I wish he would have done a show about Bitcoin before he disappears from public view.

Swiss or Swedish?

OP is banned already, so I'm going to lock this thread.
No point on letting the troll fest continue if the main party animal isn't here anymore.
3850  Economy / Speculation / Re: Block reward changing to 25 BTC 6 months for now on: June 18, 2012, 07:40:51 PM
and what exactly are we speculating here?  Huh I guess the date the first block will be mined, but then that's not economics..
I speculate the first 25BTC block will be mined on 21/12/2012 00:00:01 UTC and will in turn be sold for $13US/BTC

Wow 25 BTC for $13 that's $0.52 per BTC. I'm guessing you aren't a bull? Wink

What part of $13 per BTC didn't you understand? Roll Eyes

Take the fees? Are you all crazy?
OK, let's say he takes the fees. What's next? Beg his hosting company for a free server?
FFS...
Lower them, not drop them altogether. It might actually help his returns: more people will play. 15 people paying 2%, or 3 people paying 4%, is better than 2 people paying 10%.

you're right. but:
Dedicated server = 30BTC / month
30BTC ~ = fee from 60 000 kills (5% - server2)
60 000 Kills ~ = 500 - 1000 users
500 - 1000 users = 2 - 3 dedicated servers need: (

Fee is still too low .... any ideas?

Take the fees out completely and make people pay 0.2 or 0.5 BTC each month to play, maybe?
That way you can get the money for servers more easily and Scrooge McDuck won't complaint about the fees, but he'll have to pay to get the service provided.
In the end he'll probably pay more, but some person's brains are just screwed up and don't see things how they really are. Perception above reality, you know? Wink

Yes, that correct. But the Scrooge McDucks were asking him to take the fees out completely.  Roll Eyes

Maybe they should fix the uPnP not working on at least Ubuntu(can't talk about other OS's as I have no experience with them).
I have uPnP enabled on the client, uPnP enabled on my router, yet, if I don't forward the port on the router I never get more than 8 connections.
Maybe an increase in better connected nodes will solve the block propagation time?
Transactions get propagated fairly quick even with 8 connections but maybe full blocks don't as they are bigger in size.

3860  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ridiculous on: June 18, 2012, 01:57:52 AM
It's that the forum could be made more user-friendly by addressing this issue that is sure to be slowing down it's growth.

For example the post button could be made available for the newbies on all forums, but when clicked it would show a message explaining why he is not yet allowed to post there, just my 2 cents.

Never works. You can put all the info on front of everyones eyes and there's always someone who will not see it.
In a forum I run I have overly complicated password requirements: Mixed case chars, numbers and symbols must be used in addition to it being longer than 10 chars. It's written in bold red on a black background below the password fields on the registration form and the error that pops up when people fail the password requirements says the exact same thing.
Result: Every day I get emails of people complaining that they can't register for some reason they can't quite figure out... Incredible, isn't it? Should I use flashing neons?
