the best part is Atlas going crazy xD

Atlas being Atlas, you mean. Wink

And we need to find a QR-Code generator that produces HIGH ERROR CORRECTION. Remember this is going on paper and the code WILL get damaged.

And that qr4.nl site is of no use. To output a qr-code in vector format one needs to be a member and membership is paid at the price of €1 for each qr-code in vector format.
yeah... right... Roll Eyes

Are there any QR code generators that produce a vector output?

Source code? Wink
3284  Economy / Collectibles / Re: How would you like to design a bitcoin banknote? on: July 17, 2012, 02:41:10 PM
All the designs I'm publishing have 300dpi PSD files with most of the layers being vectors in .ai format.

One problem I've encountered: The Qr-codes given by bitaddress.org are 72dpi only so that brings issues with size when used on 300dpi. So I think the first step is to get a bitaddress generator that gives out 300dpi Qr-Codes Wink

Great idea about the encrypted code.. maybe have the encrypted code on one side and the 'pass phrase' on the back in tiny letters or something.

If someone can think of an even better solution that would be excellent.

That's a programming feature. Not sure why it is being brought up on a design thread or why any design needs to get an encrypted privkey placeholder.

This is what I call putting the cart on front of the donkey.

Because it would need to be worked into the overall DESIGN of the bill. Also Mike hasn't chimed in regarding this so until he does I still think this is a valid topic.

I do apologize if you think that I am trolling. Sorry. This is not my intention.

Why would it need to be worked into the overall design of the bill? I'm not understanding.
A Qr-code and a string of letters and numbers are a Qr-Code and a string of letters and numbers, wether it is encrypted or not. A programming feature, not a design one, like I said.
Would it confuse you less if everyone just posted blank squares instead of Qr-codes and blank placeholders for pub and priv keys?

And I don't think you're trolling. I just think you are confusing programming with artwork design and bringing it needlessly to this thread.

Now, here is a new colored version without the tilted B's.

The watermark is supposed to be the spot where to fold the bill to hide the private key.
It has one of Satoshi's equations in there. The probability of an attacker to succeed in double spending the coins by releasing a longer chain, or something like that. It's in the whitepaper.
The world map, because it's the first trully global currency.

Anything that needs to be changed?

This is my favorite!
No face. Looks good greyscale.

I would add the usability labels to the QR codes but still keep the labels you have.

How would it look with bitcoin.org in white font where the solid black line is at the bottom.

Will come up with some new versions using the suggestions given by the end of the day. Also some colored examples as they are very easy to do. The greyscale was used because it's easy to go from greyscale to colored, but the opposite may not be so easy while keeping legibility.
3288  Economy / Speculation / Re: A Theory on what pirateat40 is doing on: July 17, 2012, 11:56:11 AM
I don't think that it comes as a surprise to almost anyone if pirate's operation turns out to be a ponzi. Each and every person investing in his operations should keep in mind that the money might vanish any day. Any investor who is not completely fine with losing everything deserves to lose every penny.

Investing with pirate is like investing with bitcoinica, except pirate has a higher interest rate.
Likely hood of getting your money back is about the same Tongue

We were still missing the neighborhood looney here. Welcome, Lunatic!
3289  Economy / Collectibles / Re: How would you like to design a bitcoin banknote? on: July 17, 2012, 11:35:55 AM
IMHO this one looks most PRO. I wd definitely change the equation to something more inherit .. like elliptic curve equations etc.

Did not get the idea how the private key wd be hidden.

The equation is one of Satoshi's and it describes network security, so it can't get better than that IMO.

You hide the private key by folding the bill by the watermark line, covering the big B, leaving only the public key QR-code on sight so the balance can be verified.

Ofcourse I'm open to suggestions. I'm not a math wizard, so if anyone can suggest a better equation it will be appreciated.

3291  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] A public company will build a huge Bitcoin Mining Operation (ASIC). on: July 16, 2012, 04:58:40 AM
Curious, if there are any new publicly-releasable information regarding the original post...

its been a few months...

Vladimir seems to have a lot of free time lately  Wink

LOL, yep, waiting for ASIC's to be printed do that to people.  Wink

And I am not just telling it to you so that I have bigger piece of mining pie. I am myself out of the mining game for good  for some time now and working with various projects such as Bitcoin Magazine, Ellet, Safebit etc... just to mention a few.
Does that mean your ASIC farm is no longer in the cards?

Our financial models told us that risk/reward is not that great, our partners were not too happy giving our investors decent terms so we pulled out of that project a few weeks before BFL announcement.

We decided to let all the competing ASIC teams to fight it out between each other without us.

Some of our time got wasted on this, but nobody on our side lost any money, except me (and it is negligible).

So seriously if MtGox don't return the 17 BTC, they should get a scammer tag like Bullanula has coz they've done the same thing as him - accepted coins by accident but not returned them.

Makes sense. And the lulz potential... oh, the lulz... Roll Eyes

I think the best is to find a way for the registration page to punch future users right in the eyes. Maybe that'll make them read what they just agreed upon before clicking the Submit button...

Look zyk, I gave you a fair warning, and it was as a normal forum user not as a moderator, unlike I did with Akka. It's up to you to follow it or not.
3298  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Kim Dotcom looking for suggestions on payments on: July 15, 2012, 08:59:49 PM
So anyway, I've read through this and the articles online and it seems he is completely ignoring the bitcoin suggestions and everyone is ignoring that he is ignoring them. I don't use twitter though. Thoughts on this?

How can he be ignoring those suggestons if he is retweeting them? Huh
Have you seen him retweet any other payment provider suggestion besides Bitcoin?
He also retweeted Matonis article on Forbes. https://twitter.com/ForbesTech/status/223409880755740672

I thought that was forbes, some business news site, not him. Are you saying he owns forbes? I don't see the part from your link where it is him retweeting it.

As I said, I don't use twitter so I haven't seen any tweets. But I have seen the forbes article that was tweeted there.

My basis for what I am saying comes mainly from this thread, where I have seen no one say anything like:

"he's tweeted his interest in bitcoin"
"he's tweeted that bitcoin could be an option and has asked for more suggestions"
"he's decided to use bitcoin"

stuff like that.

Press the link that says "27 Retweets" and you'll see him listed there. It's also on his Twitter timeline.
You wanted him to take a picture of him jumping and saying "yupiee, bitcoin"?

If he decides to use Bitcoin he better keep it for himself. You'll know when he launches his site.
If he really thinks Bitcoin is an option I'm sure Twitter won't be the place where he'll do his reasearch.

Resuming, you're just talking out of your ass.
3299  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Pyramining? on: July 15, 2012, 08:47:50 PM
No, the only susbtance your posts have is hype.

And i don't ban anyone. But the administrators may do it.

If you're trying to compare the times I posted referral links with yours you'll see that I have less posts with referrals on the whole time in the forum than the 8 you made just today.

Also, I'm not your companheiro, ok? Save that for persons you know for real.
3300  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Pyramining? on: July 15, 2012, 06:58:21 PM
Yes, beeing able to post my referrals is one of the reasons I have joined the forum.

<moderator>
This doesn't bode well for you, admitting you joined the forum to spam referral links.
You better take it easy, ok?
</moderator>

Psy seems to be out of referals... Wink   sold out to Eliane ?  bad choice now when this morning pyramining went to 14MH/BTC while testing i guess

for not missing out and starting your tree with 10 %    post this in url of browser and watch it live yourself :

http://www.pyramining.com/referral/92cmbxnzh

Cheers Zyk

Not really. I still have my account. But I see no reason to be spamming all the threads with referral links.
You should probably slow it down also, zyk. Referral link spam is one of the few things that is against the forum policy. The 8 posts you made today were all spamming your referral links. That might get you a ban Wink
