LOL.. after the disappointment with the first test, we have a very competitive match this time. Everything is even stevens, and none of the two teams are at an advantage after the second day of play. Australia had an excellent opportunity to restrict India to somewhere around 150, but then the partnership between Axar and Ashwin pulled things back for India. That said, Australia so far has a nice start to their second innings.
42  Economy / Economics / Re: The impact of Russian and Ukrain war on world economy on: February 05, 2023, 09:09:38 AM
Both sides also have reasons to stop fighting. Russia has lost and is continuously losing on a daily basis a lot of men, material and resources as well. And with the numerous sanctions currently imposed on them by the west and it’s allies, they’re are losing far much money than they seem to be benefiting at the moment.

Check this:

https://hurseda.net/gundem/246987-iddia-mossad-a-gore-ukrayna-ve-rusya-kayiplari.html

This is a link from a Turkish Newspaper, which claims that they have leaked the Mossad estimate for losses during the Russo-Ukrainian war. According to this source, the losses are as follows:

Russia:
Current strength at frontline: 418,000 (excluding PMC Wagner and LNR/DNR)
Killed: 18,480 (only armed forces and reservists probably, doesn't include PMC Wagner or LNR/DNR)
Injured: 44,500
Prisoner: 323
Aircraft lost: 23
Helicopter lost: 56
Tanks/APC lost: 889
Lost Artillery systems: 427

Ukraine:
Current Strength at frontline: 734,000 (only armed forces and reservists)
Killed: 157,000 (only armed forces and reservists probably)
Injured: 234,000
Prisoner: 17,230
Aircraft lost: 302
Helicopter lost: 212
Tanks/APC lost: 6,320
Lost Artillery systems: 7,360

IMO, Russian casualties if we include Wagner and other allied forces would be ~60,000 KIA. Ukrainians probably lost around 165,000 including foreign mercenaries. Both the countries can sustain up to 1 million KIA (each), and therefore I would say that there is a good probability that this war can continue for another 4-5 years.

Guys.. the BCCI has reaped yet another windfall from the WIPL auctions. 5 franchises are as follows:

Adani Group - Ahmedabad: ₹1,289 crore
Mumbai Indians: ₹913 crore
Delhi Capitals: ₹810 crore
Royal Challengers Bangalore: ₹902 crore
Capri Global - Lucknow: ₹757 crore

The auctions fetched a record sum of ₹4,670 crore ($573 million) for the BCCI, which is around 7 times higher than the estimates made by various media analysts.

6 teams for Olympics lmao!

ICC should take chullu bhar pani and take a dip for good 5 mins. These *cukers are a shameless bunch.

BC inhe sharam bhi nahi aati aise proposal submit karne mein. Pata nahi kahan se late hai itna chutiyapa.

LOL.. I guess they don't want cricket in Olympics, but their fans are pressurizing them for the inclusion. So they at least need to show that they tried. A minimum of three medals will be there (gold, silver and bronze) and for three medals we can't have a competition with just 6 teams. And that too the ICC is proposing that there will be no qualifying tournament. So 6 teams (chosen by the ICC) will take part in the competition and 50% of them will win medals. Anyway, this is excellent news for other sports such as baseball and motorsport. IOC had shortlisted 9 sports including cricket. With the ICC submitting such a laughable format, I guess now it got reduced to 8 sports.

Also, 6-team tournament would mean that hosts (USA) gain an automatic entry. So it will be 5 full members + USA?

Viacom18 has won the media rights to WIPL for the 2023-27 period, and their bid is worth $116.8 million (₹951 crores). This represents a valuation of $0.87 million per match for the WIPL, which is much higher than what the BCCI was expecting. Viacom18 managed to beat their competitors, including Disney+ Star and Sony-ZEE. The Tweet from Jay Shah is here:

Warner got to his 200 and then retired hurt. He seems to be in trouble and has difficulty in walking back to the pavillion. Meanwhile Keshav Maharaj has hit a century for South Africa. He has conceded 102 runs till now. Now it is up to Cameroon Green and Travis Head to take Australia to a total where they don't need to bat again. Till now the South African bowlers have conceded 344 runs and taken just two wickets with the ball. And this is the same MCG pitch where they were bowled out for a total of less than 200.

ROFLMAO.. Did anyone watched the BBL match between Adelaide Strikers and Sydney Thunder? This was the 5th match in this season of the BBL, and Sydney Thunder got bowled out for just 15 runs (yes.. fifteen, I didn't missed to type any digits). Brendan Doggett at no.10 top-scored with 4 runs. Henry Thornton and Wes Agar (both Right arm Fast) shared 9 wickets between them, as Thunder were bowled out in just 5.5 overs.

A few hours remain now for the second semi-final, and my heart says that Morocco is going to win this one. There are a lot of similarities in the performance of Morocco during this world cup, and Croatia during the 2018 world cup. Back then, Croatia lost to France during the final. And similarly, I expect Morocco to lose to Argentina in the final this time around.

India should have made a total of 200 plus, but some poor planning in the last over sabotaged their plans. Hardik Pandya should have taken a single and given strike to Surya Kumar Yadav. But he was trying to hit the boundaries himself. And after he got out, other (Hooda and Sundar) were also trying to hit fours and sixes rather than giving an opportunity for SKY to do that.

Greg Barclay has been re-elected.  Grin

That would be disastrous for the sport of cricket. Now the pig-4 countries will become even more powerful, and smaller nations would be ignored. It also means that the sham eligibility system would remain in place, under which entire playing XI for "national" teams will be created 100% from foreign players. This will also negatively impact the inclusion of cricket in olympics. And the worst part is that Jay Shah has been elected as the head of Finance and Commercial Affairs committee. That will push the smaller nations to the fringe even more.

Ireland women's cricket team scored 139 runs after losing 4 wickets in 18.4 overs to bat for the target of 135 runs given by Pakistan. As Pakistan's batting was out of rhythm, the bowling situation was even worse. Ireland's opener Gaby Lewis scored 69 off 54 balls and Orla Prendergast played a crucial role in the win with 39 off 25 balls. Ireland women's cricket team won the first T20 match by 6 wickets and took a 1-0 lead in the T20 series. Ireland's bowling, fielding and batting were excellent. This match was really enjoyable. Congratulations Team Ireland Women,,,Bad luck for Pakistan Women Team.

Very surprising result. Irish women doesn't even have a proper first class setup back home, and yet they managed to defeat one of the heavyweights in their turf. Orla Prendergast put up a splendid all-round performance, and wrecked Pakistani batters with a splendid spell of 4-1-10-3. And then she was involved in a 55-run partnership with Gaby Lewis, which steered Ireland to victory.

Pakistan is having an upper hand at this point. Indian batsmen simply can't handle the pace of Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf. And the required run rate is rapidly approaching 10 runs per over, with top 3 Indian batsmen back in the pavillion (KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav). The only hope for India is that Virat Kohli is still there. And at some point, the Pakistani spinners will be introduced in to the attack, and that should make life slightly easier for the Indian batsmen.

BTW, I just checked Hotstar. 11 million users are watching the match at this point. Is this a new record?
53  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Will Russia Emerge As The Next Dominant Superpower on: October 08, 2022, 05:02:54 AM
RUSSIA is a big country that has a lot of potential to become a super power, the economy and military in Russia is so strong that it can make many countries such as Europe and the USA reluctant to Russia, and what is now being done is the invasion of Ukraine as an initial test of whether other countries can act decisively. and the facts as we see.

The only reason why the NATO hasn't bombed Russia till now is because the latter has one of the largest nuclear arsenals in the world. That is the difference between Russia, Iran and DPRK on one side, and Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen and Libya on the other side. If they had agreed to denuclearize when USSR disintegrated in 1992, then there would be no country called Russia now.

The other fights are done. Main card will start within a few minutes I guess. The last three fights were decided by UD (Super flyweight won by Jesse Rodríguez, Super middleweight won by Ali Akhmedov and Middleweight won by Austin Williams). There were two KOs today, by Diego Pacheco (vs Enrique Collazo) and by Marc Castro (vs Kevin Mendoza).

Thanks for this info...

Have subscribed now for Php99 or 1.7 USD and the good thing is that i could cancel the subscription anytime i want just like Netflix.  Smiley

So let's enjoy the fight guys, main event coming up in the next few hours.

Here in Singapore, I subscribed for DAZN paying SGD 2.98 (around $2.10). Need to see whether to retain the subscription, or to cancel it after the match.

Note: Mexican national anthem being played right now. Match will start shortly.

Unofficial scorecards from CBS Sports and Sporting News show Alvarez winning first three rounds (Canelo 30-27).

I was expecting this. Bangladesh is in deep $hit. Mujeeb has taken 3 wickets during the first powerplay and as a result Bongs are now struggling at 28/3 after 6 overs. Mujeeb at this point is having amazing figures of 3-0-9-3. And Rashid Khan is yet to bowl a single ball. And the interesting thing is that Bangladesh won the toss and decided to bat. Mushfiqur Rahim and Afif Hossain are at the crease now and they need to make sure that Bangladesh gets to a decent total within the next 14 overs. Mosaddek Hossain and Mahmudullah to come next.

Big match about to start in one and half hours from now. Final of the first ever women's cricket tournament in the Commonwealth Games will be played at Edgbaston stadium in the city of Birmingham. Australia will be the overwhelming favorites, but let's not forget the fact that India surprised everyone with their upset in the semi-finals. There is a lot of hype in Indian media, and probably more people are going to watch this match as opposed to the 5th T20I match between Indian men and West Indies men.
59  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: August 07, 2022, 02:16:15 PM
Bangladesh is slowly heading towards defeat in the second ODI match as well. Bangladesh had given a target of 291 runs. Zimbabwe scored 30 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in the first 10 overs. And at the end of 30 overs, Zimbabwe scored 157 runs with the loss of 4 wickets. Sikander Raja and Regis Chakabva put up a partnership of 108 runs. If this pair cannot break, Bangladesh will lose this match too and will lose the ODI series like the T20 series. I did not think that I will see such a bad performance of Bangladeshi bowlers.

LOL.. once again it is Sikandar Raza. But the required run rate has now topped 7 runs per over. Both Raza and Chakabva needs to step up the scoring rate. Similar to what happened during the last match, this time also Bangladeshi bowlers got a good start and at one point Zimbabwe was struggling at 49/4. But then the partnership between Sikandar Raza and Regis Chakabva stabilized the situation. Even now, the match looks evenly poised. If Bangladeshi bowlers can bowl some tight overs, then they can get these batsmen under pressure.
