BTW, the ICC has proposed a 6-team tournament for the 2028 Olympics. I am surprised. They should have went for a 3-team or 4-team competition. Anyway they want cricket to be played only by the pig-4. So why include more teams? All the other team sports (including football and field hockey) are having either 12 or 16 participants, and the ICC has suggested to limit the number of participants to a minuscule level. If that is the case, then why even apply for Olympic participation? Also, they don't want any qualifier tournament. ICC wants the 6 teams to be decided on the basis of their rankings. What a load of crap?

I was also shocked with this news that ICC is proposing they want to go with the 6 teams in 2028 Olympics which is surely disguising because most of the sports associations were more teams, but they are still living in 19th Century and never want to come out of this poor mindset which is not allowing cricket to have better exposure and big markets which could be more profitable.

Here just they want to live with 3 or 4 countries those have control and rule with their own strategy and policies, but they are missing many points as they can lose this all if they will not allow this exposure and more entries with mostly things can go into mess up, and we can face troubles which could be surely not profitable for the game now in next phase they need to work out on T20i and franchise leagues which is future and have better value for the player future as well.

That's true ICC is not ready to grow cricket world and introduce new countries in Olympics like fifa is doing it eith fifa . This is like an experimental attempt by fifa which they are conducting in 2026 and that'll be a successful one indeed  but icc is not willing to do anything like that.

ICC being the wealthiest organization in the world wants to keep hold of the power. Right now it is few countries that control the authority and decides what to be done. When more teams enter this won't be possible, when countries stand against the authority they were supposed to take decision based on the majority. There is big politics and they never take cricket to the Olympics for sure.

It is true that if more countries join the ICC, many more issues can be resolved in a sustainable manner. But it seems that the situation will not be very easy. Those who are in charge of the current ICC will not accept those things easily or if the situation does not favor them, ICC will do whatever is necessary to retain the power. It may be more logical if the ICC adopts a voting system for major decisions on behalf of cricket.

I think we should not disregard the fact that he was one of the best players ever to play cricket. Just because he has some issues in his personal life. If he has some personal issues he will sort them out I believe. But just to bash him because of his personal life does not seem right to me. In these types of celebrity cases, we will never know who is right and who is wrong. Unless the case goes to the court and the guy is basically like "Johnny Depp".

Anyway, actually, I also believe that it will be good for him if he stays away from cricket for a little while. At least till this problem sorts out.

More teams , more matches, more tournaments is always good for icc and its growth and revenue too but don't know why they hesitate to add more teams to series and world cups . They just stick to those 6 teams in Asia Cup and same with t20 world cup .

Just because his girlfriend thinks that he is cheating does not necessarily means he is. If she had common sense, she would not behave like that in public and to slap him and now Michael Clarke should take all the blame because her lady thinks she cheated and slapped him in public  . We should not bother too much into anyone's private life and get to a conclusion, even if he did cheat, why should he remove himself from Cricket or any role he does, as everyone else is in the moral high ground.

If we keep on digging the history of every player, it is possible to see a big list of incidents happened in their life similar to this. This have come out, whereas the majority gets convinced within four walls. As said, there is nothing to be done with the personal life getting connected with the professional life. For this reason I don't think he'll end his career in cricket.

ICC is proposing that their rankings should be used instead of qualifier tournaments. It doesn't work like that, because for all the team sports, Olympics has its own qualifying tournament. And secondly, ICC rankings are of no use, as the eligibility criteria is completely different. In ICC tournaments, it is possible to bring 11 players from India or Pakistan and hand them the jersey of UAE or Oman, and then create a "national team". Olympic committee (or for that matter any other sports body) doesn't allow this sham. They allow only citizens to be part of the national team.

And in case by some miracle the IOC accepts ICC rankings as the qualifying criteria, then these countries will qualify as they are no.1 to no.6 in the ICC T20 team rankings: India, England, Pakistan, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia.

@libert19 it’s a disgusting proposal, and I firmly believe that every fan who loves cricket will be hoping that it’s rejected. Furthermore guessing those 6 team’s is not difficult and as I have stated here that those 6 team’s probably will be 1) England 2) Australia 3) India 4) New Zealand 5) Pakistan and 6) South Africa and maybe Srilanka or Bangladesh can make a surprise entrance too, but the top 4 are definitely confirmed in my personal opinion to appear if the proposal by ICC is accepted.

i am new to the world of cricket and baseball, but even someone like me can see that these two sports need even more years of adoption by more countries to make it possible for them to be in the olympic games, i see no sense or urgent reason for them to be added in the Olympic games when they are only practiced by a few countries, I do not know how far baseball is evolving in each country, but I know that cricket is a limited sport in less than 8 or 9 countries that are more practiced, in my country for example there is no cricket and there is no baseball

now about motorsport this is a sport practiced in almost or even every corner of the world, even in my country it is practiced, I think they should give it a chance, if they add it to the olympic games then there would be many people watching and many countries would participate

If there is a competition where 3 out of the 6 teams are provided with Olympic medals, then it will degrade the importance of Olympics as such. Take the case of football. Close to 200 countries take part in the Olympic qualifiers and the main tournament consists of 16 teams. So 200 countries are participating for a total of 3 medals. Now how can you justify 6 countries competing for 3 medals (given that there is no qualifying tournament)?. The ICC has made a mockery of the IOC application process and we can rule out cricket being part of the Olympic Games at least for the next two decades.

In cricket 10 to 12 teams play regularly where few teams who are perform well. If you think from that point of view, there is no way to say that the participation of 6 teams according to the ranking is unreasonable. But as the matter is still pending nothing can be said till the final decision is taken. If there is cricket, it is likely to be in this format, but the IOC meeting will be held in Mumbai next October. It will be decided whether there will be cricket or not.
