Zimbabwe Cricket has regarded by ICC since 1992. ICC transferred funds to all their recognized cricket board. Zimbabwe suffered several crisis but at some point Zimbabwe were used to present good cricket. Back to the history, some of their key players was instrumental in their success. Looking at the current situation of Zimbabwe Cricket Board this looks quite unrealistic. ICC should provide appropriate guidance to get monetary help.

Zimbabwe cricket is like a black hole. Whatever money spent there just vanishes without a trace. The ICC financial model is just ridiculous. Zimbabwe gets around $12 million in funds per year, while teams like Nepal and Canada receive less than 1% of that amount. First of all, the full member status should not be permanent. ICC should remove the full member status, if teams like Zimbabwe are not performing up to the mark. When was the last time they managed to beat a full member nation? They don't play any matches against teams such as Netherlands and Nepal. If they play, then they will lose those matches as well.
822  Economy / Economics / Re: Strange massive Btc transfer in block 690755 on: July 15, 2021, 05:03:43 AM
Satoshi last logged in to his Bitcointalk account in 2010. The BTC980,000 coins that are believed to be mined by him dates back to 2009-10. After that, there is no reported activity from him. And here in this case, we are talking about coins from 2012. So it's quite simple, and I don't think that these coins belong to Satoshi. Even I have coins from 2012 (that was the time when I purchased BTC for the first time). Back then, there were tens of thousands of users. And it will be foolish to link these coins to Satoshi.
823  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ FIFA World Cup 2022: Qualifying Games For Qatar on: July 15, 2021, 04:30:09 AM
@Sithara007 while Argentina and Brazil are good, but Italy seems to be the superior team and so is England and on their day they can beat Argentina and Brazil. Furthermore Belgium has lots of talent, but they just need to utilise it well and they can go on to become the best team at the World Cup.

During the 2018 world cup (which was hosted by Russia), the non-European teams struggled to get adjusted to the weather conditions and this gave an advantage to the European teams. For the 2022 World Cup, the situation will be reversed, and the European teams will be on backfoot this time. Italy's performance in Euro 2020 was not flawless. Even for the final match, they were not the favorites to win. England had better odds. On top of that, all the Latin American teams performed well during this year's Copa America. I would say the odds are higher that champions for 2022 would be from South America.
824  Economy / Economics / Re: Food prices doubled this year on: July 14, 2021, 02:17:48 PM
I think if a lot of people are advocating towards preventing food wastage then we will probably be able to make a movement plus there are apps or organization that deal with the food wastage. I think that's the only piece in the puzzle that's left because I think if we are able to utilize every products with a low shelf life to it's fullest, we will be able to reduce food wastage greatly. Restaurants, bakeries and other businesses that deals with food shouldn't throw their leftovers because they are a big contributor to food waste problem too.

You can take out awareness campaigns, but apart from that there is not much to do in this subject. It is entirely up to the individuals to decide how much of the food products they want to consume. If they want to throw away a part of it, then we can't oppose. Because they have purchased those food items and it is their discretion on how to use them. The governments can't coerce people on what they eat inside their homes. For offices and hostels, it may be possible to introduce new laws, to penalize people who waste food. But no such thing can be done against food wastage inside individual homes.
825  Economy / Economics / Re: Not just money but oil is most important in the World on: July 14, 2021, 01:55:36 PM
I do not get why nobody really cares about it, like what could be the situation that allows European and American governments to let that be? If another nation ends up buying half of all the big companies listed in Nasdaq then I would be very upset about it, I wouldn't be happy about it, for some reason people are quite happy about getting Chinese money go back into economy instead of staying there, not only they are not worried they are happy, because these companies paid china to produce something then china used that money to buy the company? How is that any good?

At the end of the day I think it is obvious that we should be upset over Chinese financial domination, and unless we do something to stop them, they are going to won all the companies and business' all over the world eventually, not right away of course but in a few decades it will be mainly Chinese owned by the looks of it.

There is no truth in these claims. The total market capitalization of NYSE + NASDAQ is around $45 trillion. The vast majority of this amount is owned by individuals and corporations that are based in the United States. Foreign investors (especially those from China, Japan, Middle-east.etc) own only a small fraction of this amount. I don't see anything wrong with it. More foreign investment will create more demand for the stocks, and this will push up the stock prices. US citizens will benefit out of this, in the form of higher returns to their stocks. And the government will also receive higher amount of taxes.
826  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Never sell your Bitcoin? on: July 14, 2021, 01:43:18 PM
no one knows when the bullrun will come back again, whether less than 4 years or even more than 4 years, it is patience that can save us from panic, unfortunately to be patient is not easy, we have to control our emotions when we see prices move. If only we were able to hold on to it until we died, maybe at that time we would get a tremendous profit

It may happen before the next 4 years, or may take a bit longer. But eventually it has to happen. Because the userbase is going up at a steady rate and the acceptability is increasing. The exchange rates and the market cap needs to be in sync with these two parameters. In normal circumstances, the exchange rate can't remain stable, if the demand is constantly increasing. But these factors doesn't mean that you should never sell any of your coins. My opinion is that when you face a cash crunch, you can sell a small part of your holdings.
827  Economy / Economics / Re: Risk of Inflation in Economy. on: July 14, 2021, 01:30:17 PM

>5% is very significant for the United States. The return from the US treasury bonds is around 1.2% per year, and the high inflation rate may create issues for the US government. If there is such a huge gap between the bond interest rate and the inflation, then the demand for bonds will subside and the government may find it hard to increase its federal debt without indulging in unlimited printing of banknotes. And this comes at a time when Joe Biden has unveiled some big spending plans (for which he need >$10 trillion in the next 4-year period).
828  Economy / Economics / Re: COVID advanced the world into the future on: July 14, 2021, 01:18:43 PM
I don't think so. I believe like polio out break, it could be eliminated by vaccines and herd immunity. And just like sars, it mutated but still vaccines isolated the virus up to the point where it vanished. Here in the Philippines, polio outbreak was unstoppable on year 1990 up til 2010's and we finally got broke it up by vaccines given.

You are right. Although the virus is mutating, that doesn't mean that the vaccines will be completely ineffective against it. The efficacy is lower, but the better vaccines such as Pfizer, Moderna, Janssen and Sputnik is >80% efficient against mutated strains such as Alpha, Gamma, Delta and Delta plus. I wouldn't trust the Chinese vaccines though. They are bribing mainstream media houses to write articles in their favor and most of the mainstream media channels are flooded with articles and programs praising the Chinese vaccines. But from what I have seen, the real life efficacy of Sinovac and Sinopharm is close to zero.
829  Economy / Economics / Re: Permanent residence in El Salvador for crypto entrepreneurs on: July 14, 2021, 10:56:17 AM
El Salvador is now a popular name in the crypto community. The President took a bold step to formally endorse bitcoin in the country.
Other nations aren't pleased with El Salvador's decision and are putting pressure to regulate Bitcoin. I wonder how long El Salvador can hold on

I don't understand why the other countries should complain about it. Whether to make Bitcoin as a legal tender or not is an internal matter of El Salvador. Why the neighboring nations try to intervene in this decision? I can understand the frustration from the United States, because the USD was the sole legal tender in El Salvador for so long. Now it has got a competitor. But that is not the case with countries other than the US. Anyway, there is zero chance that the measure will be revoked some time in the future, because the president (Nayib Bukele) looks quite adamant.
830  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Olympics 2020/2021 : Discussion & Predictions on: July 14, 2021, 10:51:28 AM
I'm just curious how you guys feel about Sha'Carri Richardson being banned or suspended from the Olympics and then ultimately being left off the 4 x 100 sprinter relay team?

It's unfortunate timing. She got a tiny ban, due to the fact that whilst marijuana doesn't enhance performance, it's still illegal. It just so happens that the tiny ban covers the period of the olympics 100m. The rules are the rules, and there isn't really any room to manoeuvre, there has to be a ban of some sort. As for her not being in the relay team which comes a bit later and after the end of the ban... I think again they have little choice. They have to be seen as being consistent. It would be difficult to justify including a runner in one event who is banned from the individual version.

It's not a great situation, and it feels harsh on her, but the rules can't be bent... that would set a terrible precedent.

No sympathy for Sha'Carri. Athletes need to take great care while taking food, to make sure that they are not consuming any items containing prohibited substances. Even previously there have been cases of individual athletes getting bans for mistakenly consuming banned substances. And in case of Sha'Carri, she was already aware that weed was banned and still consumed it. Who should be blamed here? It is not possible to provide exemptions on an individual basis. If weed is permitted today, then tomorrow some people may ask for glass and crack.
831  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-07-09] Russia Drafting Law on Confiscation of Crypto Assets on: July 14, 2021, 08:05:05 AM
It is really funny. In Russia, most of the criminal activity (ransomware, human trafficking, drugs trade.etc) is being done by gangs with close links with the ruling United Russia party. I am not sure whether these gangs will face any sort of asset confiscation. On the other hand, the notoriously corrupt Russian cops may use these laws to harass regular users who have no direct links with criminal activity. Anyway, I urge users residing in Russia to re-route their transactions using Bitcoin mixers. Also, it would be better to avoid exchanges that require KYC.
832  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: July 14, 2021, 07:35:17 AM
South Africa's overall cricket future looking bleak atm, their players migrating here and there and recent events back in home indicating civil war kind of scenrio. England on the other hand showing off their bench strength in limited over cricket, although for them test cricket only means The Ashes. Australia is doing okay in Test cricket but nowadays in limited overs cricket they are looking average especially their mighty bowlers which used to be their main weapon. Windies are giants in T-20 but lagging in other format miserably.

Pakistan doing what it does best so nothing surprising but damn i thought their fielding were improving but they were really shitty on the field yesterday. Sri lanka is royally fucked. I have no hope from the Bangladesh. Kiwis were excellent in last 2 years across all format. Indian team also got strong bench strength and played excellent cricket in last 4-5 years in every format but they keep failing in final exams.

There is no point in talking about the situation in South Africa, because it is never going to change. But I was shocked by their decision to rest two of their best players for the match (de Kock and Ngidi). And that probably cost them 10 points in the ODI league. For a team that had just 14 points before the match, I would say that it was not a very bright decision to leave out two of the in form players. I agree with you on Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. But I have a lot of hope for Pakistan.. there is a lot of talent in that country.
833  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I rather stay hungry than sell my Bitcoin on: July 14, 2021, 06:51:47 AM
Wait till you hear that one of those consequences is a form of cancer so you will need to sell your bits bitcoins at 1million/piece to get some 5-10 years more to live. Everyone is a hero when there is no real danger around.

LOL.. I am someone who sold more than half of my coins in 2015, when the exchange rate was $200 per coin. But still, I would agree that there may be emergency situations, where you have no option other than selling at least some of your coins. And what is the point in holding 100% of your coins for the next 10 years, as there are no guarantees that you may live for so long? And in case something happens to the holder, then the coins will be lost for ever and neither him, nor his relatives are going to benefit out of it.
834  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do many mainstream economists always oppose Bitcoin? on: July 14, 2021, 06:12:10 AM
It is not surprising to see some of these old school economists badmouthing Bitcoin. Their entire career has been built on mainstream economy, which frowns upon new innovations such as Bitcoin which deviates from the fiat-based core. Also, for someone who is so attached to the fiat-based economy for many decades, it is never easy to think about some other sector, which is drastically opposite. And this is exactly the reason why those in 20s and 30s find Bitcoin more attractive, when compared to those in their middle ages.
835  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will China's crackdown on Bitcoin cause Bitcoin to become worthless? on: July 14, 2021, 06:00:22 AM
China is not the largest market for cryptocurrency, and also it is not the most important market in terms of purchasing power. The only segment in which they have an almost complete monopoly is in the manufacturing of mining equipment. Right now, 95% to 98% of all the mining rigs are manufactured in China. Some of the mining farms are moving to countries such as Kazakhstan and Russia, but as long as the equipment is produced in China, the farms located in that country will have an unfair advantage in terms of lower capital costs.
836  Economy / Economics / Re: Which Asian countries have the greatest influence on bitcoin? on: July 14, 2021, 05:48:24 AM
~
not sure with India as you mentioned same with China their side for this cryptocurrency still unclear.
~

In India, the government is yet to come up with a concrete policy on cryptocurrency. A few months ago, the government was about a draft bill in the parliament which included very harsh provisions, such as 10 year prison term for anyone who owns cryptocurrency. But there was a lot of outcry from the Indian cryptocurrency users and they were forced to shelve it. But as of now, no new bill has been tabled to replaced the earlier one, and therefore the legal status of cryptocurrency in India remains in limbo.
837  Economy / Economics / Re: Food prices doubled this year on: July 14, 2021, 05:34:19 AM
What we need is just a proper storage and distribution of the food and I think that the price doubling could easily be whittled down by time. I mean we have tons of food waste every year and not just any food waste but edible food waste, now if we were to distribute left overs instead of throwing them away, we might solve two birds with one stone which hunger and the food prices doubling.

Food wastage increases with increasing prosperity. Nowadays, people have more disposable income and have wide choice of food products to choose from. They may purchase more foot items than they need, and this may be one of the reasons for food wastage. And since the food items have limited shelf-life, it is not always possible to recycle the leftover food to animal feed or biofuel. Collection of leftover food can also be a challenge, as a lot of people just dump it in municipal waste dumps. Very few people separate food waste from other waste such as plastic and broken glass.
838  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA EURO 2020 Discussion Thread | Current Phase: Finals in June 2021! on: July 14, 2021, 05:24:40 AM
@Sithara007 you’re absolutely correct as FIFA did change the ranking system in 2018, but yet I find it difficult to see Belgium on the top because unless they win a major tournament they don’t deserve to be on the top. Also I do acknowledge that they had a good winning streak, but if they keep failing in the tournaments then they’ll lose that spot very fast.

As far as I know, the FIFA points system doesn't give special weightage to tournament finals. If Belgium is playing against Italy in the final of a major tournament like Euro 2020, that match will have the same amount of weightage as as a group match between these two sides. In a sense, that is the right thing to do. Why should a final match have more importance when compared to other matches? Personally, I feel that Belgium doesn't deserve a place at the top. I would say Argentina, Brazil or Italy deserves it more.
839  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: July 13, 2021, 04:26:32 PM
Could be but let's say if BCCI gives green light to 7-8 teams WIPL then it would require minimum 80-100 quality or okayish players. 40-50 players seems manageable to me because there are many state teams in domestic arena but if we are talking about big talent pool then things might get tricky very quickly.

I don't think that they need to start with 7-8 teams. I would prefer 4 teams, at least for the first 2-3 years. They can recruit 10-12 Indian players and 8-10 overseas players each for the franchises. That means that a total of 40-48 quality Indian players are needed. Given the talent pool in India, I guess that is very much achievable. For the 4 franchises, I would prefer these cities - Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai and Kolkata. After 2-3 years, the league can be expanded to 6 teams, and finally to 8-10 teams.
840  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: July 13, 2021, 04:14:03 PM
I am enjoying the match. The outcome of the match still seems uncertain to me. I wouldn’t be surprised if South Africa lost. After 33 overs, South Africa scored 159 runs and they lost 3 wickets. They need 132 runs in 17 overs. I think South Africa will lose the match.

The required run rate has now climbed above 8.50 and South Africa has lost some quick wickets. Now it is Ireland's match to lose. When Rassie van der Dussen and Janneman Malan were out there, it looked as if South Africa had everything under control and it will be an easy win for them. But both of them fell in quick succession, and now South Africa is on backfoot. At this point, I also need to say that the South African lower order is not as strong as it should be. A win against South Africa would be a huge boost for Ireland.
