221  Economy / Economics / Re: El Salvador retirees protest against Bitcoin as legal tender on: September 21, 2021, 10:40:08 AM
As much as we may suspect that these protest in El Salvador because of the bitcoin adoption are politically motivated, it is also fair to view from another perspective and say that the protests are also a result of low orientation about the advantages of bitcoin and why their government suddenly decided to give it a go, to the masses.

If there is or was a proper circulation of information and sensitisation from the government to all age grades in the country, many will see no reason to protest, because they will understand the benefits this adoption has for the country, if they truly love their country.

They had the option to protest peacefully. If they don't like the president, or think that he is too authoritarian, then what prevents these people from voting him out. But in order to do that they need to wait until the next presidential elections. Burning down ATMs and other private/public property is not going to do the trick. And I am not surprised at the opposition. The communists once destroyed computers, claiming that they would take away jobs. That was three decades ago. Now the children of these same communist leaders are working in IT firms.

Also one good announcement for domestic cricketers

https://twitter.com/JayShah/status/1439887126049394690

This one just came at the right time. So they are getting an increment from ₹35,000 per day to ₹60,000 (although limited to players who have represented the state in more than 40 matches). The BCCI should focus more on the domestic cricket. The quality is noway near the competitions in England, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa or West Indies. Right now a huge gap exists in the quality between the IPL and domestic cricket. One good initiative would be to introduce franchise system with the domestic teams as well.
223  Economy / Economics / Re: Are Renewable Energy sources the future? on: September 21, 2021, 07:44:06 AM
Agree to this and there are only few charging station of it and really you cant drive really really long distance. Regarding renewable energy there are a lot of people now a days in their homes buying a solar power light since it could save energy and also lets say that it could make the environment better. I think the future in renewable energy in terms of electricity is really great, but the gasoline powered vehicle is the next problem tho

That still doesn't solve the issue of affordability. The Tesla Model S costs around $100,000. This is around 3 times the price of a similar automobile which runs on gasoline. Personally I don't afford paying up to 50% more for an EV. But 200%? That doesn't make any sense for me. They need to reduce the cost and make the vehicles more affordable. And for that, they need to dump the current Lithium-Nickel-Cobalt-Aluminium batteries and move towards a battery technology that uses less expensive metals. I am afraid that it may not happen anytime soon.
224  Economy / Economics / Re: Inflation soaring in US and other countries gives good prospect to bitcoin on: September 21, 2021, 07:26:31 AM
While I also think that bitcoin will be able to protect you in the case of a economic meltdown a the same time it is just a theory at the moment and we have no way to know if it will happen, we know now that bitcoin will protect your from small economic crises as this is what we saw during the previous year, it is true there was a decrease in the price as well but then bitcoin reevaluated itself very quickly and reached several new all time highs.

The small scale fluctuations that we witnessed so far in 2021 resulted from attempts to manipulate the market by celebrities such as Elon Musk and organized cartels. But as we can see, the impact was not maintained for the long term. Personally I believe that the time is ripe for Bitcoin, to get started with another bull run. The demand is still there.. and there are a lot of buyers who are waiting for power prices to accumulate BTC. The entry of institutions have changed the scenario completely. With every passing year, people are losing their faith in fiat currency. Ordinary people are losing their wealth at a rapid pace as a result of inflation. Sooner or later, there will be a big move towards assets that are protected against inflation.
225  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: September 21, 2021, 07:09:11 AM
^^^^ Not accurate.

According to ESPN Cricinfo, ECB cancelled the tour as a result of "Covid bubble fatigue". Security reasons are not mentioned in the statement from the ECB. For the PCB this is very disappointing. And Ramiz Raja (PCB chairman) has reacted very strongly to the cancellation, pointing out that since the start of the pandemic Pakistan has toured England two times, and New Zealand/West Indies once each. He claims that the "western bloc" is united in its stance against Pakistan. Anyway, good to see that he's not blaming the BCCI now.
226  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: September 21, 2021, 06:51:42 AM
The BCCI is not paying much attention to the ICC now. They are doing as they please. Proof of this is the cancellation of the match against England. Similarly, their players are becoming reckless. The players are too arrogant. Because BCCI never gives any punishment to the players. After the incident in Sri Lanka, I thought maybe BCCI would give any punishment to the players, I thought money could fine. But BCCI did not give any punishment to the players. If BCCI never gives any punishment to the players then it will cause disgrace to them in future.

Back in Sri Lanka, it was Krunal Pandya who breached the bubble and infected others in the camp. If it was some other player, then the BCCI would have taken stringent action. But the Pandya sisters are like close confidents of captain Kohli and any punishment meted out them will result in Jay Shah getting a kick in his rear side from Kohli. The same was the case with the IPL as well. It was the KKR franchise which was responsible for the bubble breach then. They are among the "heavyweight" franchises, so obviously no action was taken.

Show me proof that Pakistan is blacklisted by FATF.
The fact is that Pakistan is never been in the FATF blacklist. I can understand that some wishes can't come true. Cheesy

I wonder why you and all Indians feel so happy to speak the things which never exists ? and Yes, after the cancellation of New Zealand tour, it was expected that England will announce the same.

I am not an Indian citizen, but it is a fact that Pakistan is facing issues for many decades now. Blaming India will not resolve the issue. The user whom you quoted was wrong. Pakistan was never blacklisted by the FATF. However, FATF is currently investigating them for links to banned entities.

https://thediplomat.com/2021/02/will-pakistan-come-off-the-fatf-grey-list/

Currently they are on the "greylist".

The real threat for the PCB is that other countries would follow the example of CNZ (ECB, CA.etc) and refuse to tour Pakistan. That will result in huge losses to the PCB. Already they are in bad financial state due to the pandemic.
228  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: September 20, 2021, 02:51:55 PM
The World Cup qualifiers are in full swing. Weak teams are getting ample opportunity to match themselves. Today is the sixth match between Oman and USA. Oman has already managed to take 200 runs. However, in fact, today,  Oman would won Having to keep up with the win.

It is a tri-series between Oman, USA and Nepal. Only Nepal is having native players and the other two don't have any nationals in their cricket squad (their playing XIs are entirely made up of Pakistani and Indian citizens). What is the point in having international teams like this? Take the case of Oman players for example. I am 100% sure that they don't have any loyalty towards Oman. They themselves would be supporting their home country when they play for Oman. The tragedy here is that teams with native players such as Nepal and Kenya get sidelined by these teams.
229  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: September 20, 2021, 02:41:05 PM
Zimbabwe is in a fairly good position compared to Scotland and Ireland. Zimbabwe is well ahead of these three teams. Anyway their batting department Must take a good position. Then many of them will come under pressure in the World Cup.

Well.. Zimbabwe is supposed to perform better. Aren't they? As a full member of the ICC, they receive funds worth $12 million per year, compared to less than $1 million received by the Scottish cricket board. And despite that, all of the matches were competitive. I personally believe that Zimbabwe's allocaiton should be reduced by 80% and the remainder should be distributed among the other boards. I doesn't benefit anyone. Most of the funds given to Zimbabwe get stolen by by the corrupt officials and politicians.
230  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why some millionaires hate Bitcoin? on: September 20, 2021, 11:20:37 AM
I think that they hate Bitcoin, because people that are in cryptocurrency can became millionaires also. That is it. They dont like the fact that they can no longer be unique. Lets say you are the only millionaire in town, one year passes, and there are already 30 of people like you. They used to be VIPs, but not anyone with enough luck and a decent amount of capital can become the same.

Right now, the cryptocurrency market is having a market capitalization of less than $2 trillion. On the other hand the market cap of stock markets just within the United States stands at >$50 trillion. And the increase in market cap of these stock exchanges this year is higher than the total market cap of the cryptocurrency market. So obviously the number of millionaires (and billionaires) created by cryptocurrency is much smaller than the same number created by the stock rally this year. In short, your argument is only partially true.
231  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin in 2022? on: September 20, 2021, 11:10:21 AM
4-year cycle is the benchmark for many people in predicting the price of bitcoin and that's only natural, but now the 4 year cycle is a bit difficult to benchmark because bitcoin adoption has started to happen

I'm sure in 2022 bitcoin will make a new ATH (maybe it will happen in Q1 or Q2 2022) especially if it turns out that Paraguay and the countries in question accept bitcoin as a legal tender, then it will push the bitcoin price to the highest level

As things stand now, Malta and Panama are much more likely than Paraguay to take that step. But I agree that the impact will be visible only by 2022 (not sure whether it will happen in Q1 2022). The impact from PayPal adoption took almost 6-7 months to translate to an increase in the exchange rates. Before that, the impact from the block reward halving also took roughly that much time. Anyway, even if a new ATH is achieved in 2022, I am not sure whether I will sell any of my coins. My targets are much higher.
232  Other / Off-topic / Re: Passive Income Sources on: September 20, 2021, 11:00:12 AM
On the average, millionaires have 7 sources of passive income. Share your streams of passive income as this may help a reader build more wealth.

You don't need 7 sources, if one works well for you. I have been doing freelancing since 2004. I have tried more than a dozen methods - blog advertising, forum posting, YouTube video creation, affiliate marketing.etc. But since 2013, my only source of passive income has been signature campaigns in this forum. The payout is not very high, but I have a full-time job and therefore can't work additionally for more than 1-2 hours a day. So I am happy with whatever I am getting from this method.
233  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why Gas Fee is too High? on: September 20, 2021, 07:54:44 AM
It's already i suppose, There are tons of alternative out there that offering lower transaction fee like BSC and you can also bridging through layer-2 like Polygon. The best thing do right now it's sticking to some alternative network until Eth 2.0 Launched in the end of this year or if you still insist to use Ethereum then you can try to make an transaction on low-trade time (UTC Midnight).

Those who are dealing with tokens, that are using the ERC-20 platform, there is no alternative available. I am tired of hearing from noobs who complain that the transaction fee of moving their tokens to an exchange is higher than the net worth of their token holdings. For such cases, there is no solution available right now. Newer projects are increasingly shifting to alternate chains such as BSC and TRC-20. But those who are dealing with existing projects have to deal with ERC-20 and it's sky high fees.
234  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dollar supporters destroy Bitcoin ATM in El Salvador on: September 20, 2021, 07:40:05 AM
things that are common in every government decision taken will cause pros and cons, causing chaos at the beginning. but in the end I think it is the power of the government that will overcome this, because the people of course have to obey the rules that have been set. I think continuing this decision is a good path, and will eventually get used to everyone to use bitcoin

Not like that... In a democratic country, people have the right to protest against decisions taken by the government (but peacefully). And for those who are saying that the government should have conducted a referendum - back in 2001, when the government decided to make US Dollar as the legal tender, there was no referendum being done. No one complained about it back then. So why anyone should be having a problem now? And back then, it was replacement of Salvadoran Colon by the United States Dollar. This time it is not replacement, but the addition of another option.
235  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Kid already making $32k monthly through ethtereum on: September 20, 2021, 07:28:16 AM
i must give kudos to their parent, supporting a kid on this kind of journey means the parent believed in it and supported them fully. this is a motvation for many parents and other kids also.

It's not all black and white. I suspect that one reason for such "motivation" may be a desire to reduce the tax bill. Here the kids are earning the revenue and obviously their tax slab and the applicable tax rate may be much lower when compared to that of the parents. Else, do you really think that these kids have the means to do such heavy investments, even before their college? The capital has to come from somewhere.. even if they claim that they have taken loans, then someone (adult) should provide guarantee to that loan.
236  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Shitcoins as collectables in the future on: September 20, 2021, 07:14:53 AM
Like most of you guys, i have tons of shitcoins in my wallets and trying to look at it from the bright site. I was wondering, what if there will be a market for collectable early shitcoins in the far future. I am talking about rare shitcoins that left some mark in the crypto world like most notorious exit scams or hacked coins or biggest pump and dump coins or first meme coins...
I wouldnt be surprised if we see a market for those in 20 years, at least that is how i cheer myself up when i see my wallets Cheesy

Well.. who knows for sure? I have been in to cryptocurrency for almost a decade and I still don't understand it completely. Sometimes shitcoins like Doge go up and manage to find a place in top-5 list. And at the same time, promising projects like Stellar Lumens, Monero and Deep Onion fail to get attention from the investors. There is no logic with the market sometimes. And I won't be too surprised if the dead coins become valuable at some time in the future. But in my case, it will be extremely difficult to recover them. I stored most of them in exchange wallets, and lost these coins when the exchanges delisted them. And in most cases, the exchanges also no longer exist.
237  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: UK customers can now buy Bitcoin through Paypal on: September 20, 2021, 06:56:19 AM
When the news first came out regarding PayPal integrating Bitcoin to their platform, I could see a great number of negative posts in this forum. But one year has passed, and the overall impact has been positive. The move turned out to be mutually beneficial for both the sides. PayPal has witnessed a growth in net revenues, and a lot of people who were earlier to purchase cryptocurrencies from mainstream exchanges opted to do that using PayPal. In short, PayPal has made cryptocurrencies more accessible to the ordinary (especially less tech savvy) people.
238  Economy / Economics / Re: Africa’s crypto market has grown by more than 1,200% since 2020: Chainalysis on: September 20, 2021, 06:26:45 AM
^^^^ Cryptocurrency can be misused for illegal purposes, such as payment of bribes and ransom. Given the high levels of corruption that is prevalent in countries such as Nigeria, I am afraid that in the near future we are going to hear about it much more frequently. The politicians will be the first group to use cryptocurrency for such purposes. And these politicians will be the first ones to complaint that they need stricter regulations on cryptocurrency, because it is being misused (after they move their funds to offshore tax havens).
239  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Today I helped 2 non-crypto people invest in bitcoin on: September 20, 2021, 06:14:31 AM
You are right. Is important to let them know the risk behind Investing in Cryptocurrency. When I bring people into the Crypto world, and they want to invest. I do explain to them that the price of coins do rise and falls. Also teach them about been patience. If you don't do this things. You might end up been a bad person to them, when there is drop in price of those coins they Invested in. No doubt, Investing in Cryptocurrency is however profitable.

This is one of the reasons why I don't get too involved nowadays. No matter how much you educate them, if the price drops all of a sudden, or in case the coins get stolen, these guys are going to blame you. What the ordinary investor want is high returns with zero risk. But there is no such thing. You can opt for low risk assets, but then the returns will be low (US treasury bonds have interest rate of 1.3% per year). On the other hand, if you opt for high risk assets, then there is a chance that you will get good returns. But you should be open to the probability of your asset losing 50% of its value in a year.
240  Economy / Economics / Re: Covid-19 vaccination becoming a criteria to live in the world on: September 20, 2021, 06:04:29 AM
The vaccination is becoming a criteria indeed and it must be also. Without vaccines, the probability of being taken into intensive care is rising very quickly. Because in that case, our immune system is having a big difficulty in fighting against the virus. And we have even deadlier variants now. We have no choice other than being vaccinated if we care about our life. There is no meaning in being anti-vaxxer.

With the original strain, it was OK to remain unvaccinated. It had a mortality rate of around 0.1% for those who are below 50 years of age (those without comorbidities). But the delta and other strains have changed the situation. The mortality rate for the elderly remains the same as it was before. But for younger people, it has increased by 50x to 100x, from 0.1% to somewhere between 5% to 10% (these numbers are based on my study on the data from India). So I would request everyone, irrespective of their age to get vaccinated.
