141  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin slumps as China bans all cryptocurrency transactions on: September 29, 2021, 07:26:31 PM
You can't use TOR in China without worrying about death. In other nations it is still not accepted, depends on which website you go to of course, if it is just google and facebook or something then I doubt you would be in trouble.

However in China, you would be in a big big trouble if you used TOR and did something against the governments wishes. It is not even just "you will go to jail" when you are in China, it is literally just a huge concentration camp there and you would either be forced to do free labor forever, or you will be executed if it is too bad. All in all I would say that it is smarter to end up doing something legal and not go against CCP at all.

LOL.. if the situation is this bad, then I would just advice the local cryptocurrency users to stop doing transactions until there is a policy change, or till the time they are able to secure a foreign passport. Even if the user travels to some other country (say South Korea or Japan) and do cryptocurrency transactions in these countries, I don't think that they will be 100% safe. I am sure that the CCP surveillance will follow them wherever they go. If you get a US or Canadian passport, at least they will think twice before targeting you.

Glenn Maxwell is changing the way RCB plays in the IPL. The way in which he batted in the last match was incredible and in this match, i thought the match will go to the last overs but Glenn Maxwell had other plans as he took on Morris and scored 22 runs in the 17th over and then ABD finished off the match in the very next ball. RCB will be the dark horse in this tournament with the way they are playing now.

Maxwell's poor form was always one of the concerns for the RCB. But his performance in this season has been quite good. Now Srikar Bharat has also cemented his place and their top-5 is extremely strong (Kohli, Devdutt, Bharat, Maxwell and de Villiers). And as far as bowling is concerned, they have the perfect combination of Chahal-Siraj-Harshal-Jamieson. The playoff spot is almost guaranteed for RCB, but it needs to be seen whether they will be able to win the trophy this time (will be a big relief for the captain).
143  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: September 29, 2021, 05:29:52 PM
RCB is slowly moving towards their 150-run target very easily. They need 27 runs off 30 balls to win. All the batsmen are batting steadily. Because there is no extra pressure on them. If the target was more than 170, the players would not be able to perform so freely. They would be under pressure, and it would have been a bit easier for the bowlers to get out. Apart from Mustafiz, no other bowler has taken a wicke.

Srikar Bharat played an amazing innings and took the match away from RR. For the Rajasthan Royals, all the bowlers except Mustafizur Rahman looked out of form. Chris Morris is looking clueless ever since the UAE leg started. Today was another forgettable day for him, and conceded 50 runs from his 4 overs without a wicket. Hard to believe that this guy was purchased for a record amount of $2.3 million during the auctions. Royal Challengers Bangalore won the match quite comfortably, with almost 3 overs to spare. And RR is now out of contention for playoffs.

144  Economy / Economics / Re: After 1 year of Covid 19 Virus on: September 29, 2021, 05:02:09 PM
Ofcourse. However the virus could still get into people with strong immune system but won't be able to harm or make them sick. This doesn't mean such people should become reckless and allow loads of viruses to get into them. If their immunity is weakened, the viruses could succeed. So, they have to maintain the strong immunity and remain protected. They should try as much as possible to limit the loads of viruses getting into their body

Don't be so sure. The Bahraini government released some data recently, which showed that around 15% of the individuals who died from COVID in that country were fully vaccinated. I agree that vaccination reduces the chances of hospitalization and death, but it definitely doesn't reduce the risk by 100x or 200x as the media is claiming. I think it is more like a 5x-10x reduction in risk. On top of that, the mRNA vaccines are now being reported with decreasing efficacy after 4-5 months of administration, which necessitates a booster shot.
145  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: September 29, 2021, 04:50:02 PM
After a great start, Royal Challenger Bangalore has just dropped a bit of speed. Mustafizur Rahman got the wicket. However, looking at the batting style, it seems that Royal Challengers won the match for Bangalore  It won't be too much trouble to take. Anyway cricket is a game of glorious uncertainty. So victory or defeat cannot be guaranteed without seeing the end.

Two of the best RCB batsmen are gone. And the second one got out to a very unnecessary runout. Devdutt Padickal got a life when Samson dropped him. But even after that he couldn't make use of it and got out soon. Kohli's runout was just shocking. There was absolutely no need for that. Now a lot will depend on Glenn Maxwell and AB de Villiers (and the latter is not in really good form). However, the top 4-5 batsmen need to do the job. Because RCB also have a very long tail, which starts with Shahbaz Ahmed.
146  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin mining isn’t a waste of energy? on: September 29, 2021, 10:58:58 AM
If using electricity, paper pulp, cotton and dye to print banknotes is not a waste of energy and resources, then mining Bitcoins is also not a waste of energy. You are getting an output in this case, which is indestructible. On the other hand, you are spending so much of your resources in printing banknotes and minting metal coins, which are having a limited shelf-life. So which one is a better example of wasting energy? The Bitcoin energy consumption is just an excuse put forward by fiat supporters to tarnish the reputation of BTC. There is hardly any relevance with such arguments.
147  Economy / Economics / Re: Gavin Andresen prediction for Bitcoin in 2061 on: September 29, 2021, 10:51:53 AM
I believe Gavin Andresen is a smart guy, but let's get real. I don't know anyone who can make a valid prediction about BTC in 2022. So making predictions about what's going to happen in 40 years is just crazy. It would be more useful trying to make predictions about the risks BTC is going to face in the next few years.

He's not smart. He just think that others are stupid and he is smarter than him. Personally I don't know why we should take BS predictions like these seriously. Anyone can pull out a number from their hat. But where is the justification? The arguments put forward by him is not 100% convincing. Although his arguments sounded much better than that loser McAfee, who predicted $1 million in 2020 without any supporting statement at all. When someone makes statements like these, it is only for publicity. In real life, who cares about 2061? Are you going to hold your coins until 2061?
148  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: September 29, 2021, 10:40:09 AM
Someone enjoys a test match for a full 5 days! I watch the first 10 overs of the match in the morning, watch some overs of the game when I have time in the noon, and watch the highlights of the match in my spare time at the end of the day. It is difficult to watch 100 overs of an ODI match continuously. In ODIs I enjoy the first 20 overs and the last 10 overs. It is very boring to enjoy 5 days of test match.

During my college days I used to have plenty of free time and it was not unusual for me to watch an entire test spanning 5 days. But since I started working, it has become almost impossible to spare that much time. Even more so, after getting married. I don't think that I have watched an entire test match ever since I got my first job. And the same goes with my friend circle as well. I don't know anyone among my friends who watch test cricket on a regular basis these days. But there are a few pensioners in my neighborhood who do so.
149  Economy / Economics / Re: After 1 year of Covid 19 Virus on: September 29, 2021, 10:30:04 AM
Even theres a vaccine corona virus still there and pandemic still the problem of lots of country. For me vaccine is still not the answer to stop the pandemic in the world but by improving our life tyle make our immunity strong for us not to take the virus and stop spreading it and the most important is the movement of the Government to really stop the Coronavirus.

Vaccines, along with strict social distancing protocols should have done the trick. The pandemic is still there, because large sections of population refuse to get vaccinated, and then there are people who refuse to wear masks and take other precautions while going out. And as far as I know, none of the governments have so far made vaccination mandatory. At the most, they have banned unvaccinated people from crowded places. And that has proved insufficient to contain the spread of the pandemic so far.
150  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: September 29, 2021, 10:19:37 AM
Today's match is very important for Rajasthan Royals. This is a do-or-die match for them. If they lose this match, they will not be in the top 4 of the table. RCB has lost 3 matches in a row and has performed very well against MI in the previous match and won. Rajasthan has lost the previous two matches. They have to win this match. I hope Rajasthan will win.

Too many teams in contention for the 4th playoff spot. If Rajasthan Royals wins today, then they will keep their chances alive, as they will have 10 points (KKR and MI also have 10 points each). Then it will be a triangular battle between these teams, with three matches remaining for each franchise. And out of these three, I would rate KKR as having maximum chances to qualify to the playoffs. A win by Royal Challengers Bangalore today would mean that their 3rd position is guaranteed, and thereby a spot in the playoffs.
151  Economy / Economics / Re: US with problems to raise the debt ceiling... again on: September 28, 2021, 08:10:13 PM
GOP handing out welfare benefits? What? The GOP consistently push to cut Medicaid, Medicare, and a variety of social security programs such as SNAP and TANF. Trump's big tax cuts, which contributed to a big chunk of his increased deficit prior to COVID, largely benefited the wealthiest in society - https://www.taxpolicycenter.org/publications/distributional-analysis-conference-agreement-tax-cuts-and-jobs-act/full. The top quintile made a saving of over $7,000 per year, with the lowest quintile making a saving of only $60 per year. How you can say that is catering to blue collar workers I don't know.

Trump claimed that his policies discourage American companies to shift jobs abroad, thereby securing native jobs (especially in the blue-collar sector). I will give you one example. In 2017, Trump forced Ford Automobiles to cancel their plans to open a car manufacturing unit in Mexico, and instead invest that amount in Michigan. And regarding Obamacare, Trump has always argued that it was putting a huge strain on small businesses. In the rust-belt states, even in 2020 Trump performed much better than what opinion polls predicted (especially in states like Wisconsin and Pennsylvania).
152  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: September 28, 2021, 07:36:56 PM
If Mumbai lose, they have no chance of going to the next round. They lag far behind other teams and at the same time, their performance is weak. Now they need 45 runs from 30 balls to win. Looking at the batting style of Mumbai's players, it doesn't look like they will win the match. Although they still have a lot of wickets.

LOL.. they won this time. And the bigger surprise was that Hardik Pandya contributed with the bat after such a long gap. Krunal also had a decent outing with the ball. But the other match was more of a surprise. I wasn't exactly expecting DC to lose. What really happened to Delhi Capitals? Only three batsmen got in to double digits (Steven Smith, Shikhar Dhawan and Rishabh Pant. I was glad to see Smith for the first time in this phase, but he didn't got much support from the other batsmen. And how the hell did Venkatesh Iyer picked up two wickets?
153  Economy / Economics / Re: US with problems to raise the debt ceiling... again on: September 28, 2021, 04:46:14 PM
The ever increasing debt and printing ever more money to deal with it is obviously a problem, but painting the GOP as the party of fiscal responsibility is laughable. They borrow and print more with abandon when they are in power, and then blame the Dems for it when they are not in power. Republican presidents have overseen the largest increases in the deficit and in the debt over the past 40 years, whereas both Clinton and Obama greatly reduced the deficits they inherited, with Clinton being the only president in the last 40 years to turn a surplus.

The debt ceiling was increased three times under Trump. If Trump was in office just now, Republicans would have no issues increasing it again. They are doing this for their own political gain, not for any concern about our ballooning debt. Everyone knows it will be raised eventually, since the US defaulting on its debt would ruin the country, but Republicans have to play their stupid little games first.

The GOP used to be a party of "fiscal responsibility" until two decades ago. Back then, they used to depend heavily on suburban white voters and a seizable chunk of their votes used to come from white collar workers. However, suburban voters have moved towards the left recently, and it is more noticeable among the female suburban voters. The Iraq war, which was initiated by George W Bush just destroyed whatever reputation they had in fiscal responsibility.

And by the time Trump was voted to power, the core support group was white blue collar workers. Suburban areas, where the GOP used to receive 60% or more of the votes now vote >60% for the Dems. Under these circumstances, it makes perfect sense for the GOP to cater to their core support group. And doing that means handing out more welfare benefits, thereby widening the fiscal deficit.
154  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How are you taking the China Bitcoin Ban? on: September 28, 2021, 03:05:51 PM
Although I don't really like the CCP, we can't ignore the fact that China is the no.2 economy in the world. So a ban in China, is not good news for us. It will have some impact, at least for the short to medium term. But what concerns me more is the fact that China produces more than 99% of the mining equipment that is currently being used. If the CCP can ban mining, there is no guarantee that they will not prohibit the manufacturing of Bitcoin mining equipment. And if that happens, there will be complete chaos at the market.
155  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH adoption lately is high on: September 28, 2021, 02:21:53 PM
I don't even know why people still use the ERC-20 chain. There are much better alternatives available and the ETH developers have ignored the requests from users on a consistent basis for the last two years or so. On top of that, the transaction fee hasn't dipped below $5 in recent times. A lot of hype has been generated regarding ETH 2.0. But they started the implementation almost one year ago, and I can't find any significant change which resulted from this. For me, it looks more like a delaying tactic.
156  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-09-25]South Korean Taxman to Be Granted Right to Search Crypto Tax Evaders on: September 28, 2021, 01:31:54 PM
Crypto is not yet taxable in South Korea, but as of January 1, 2022, all crypto profits above USD 2,100 will need to be declared,
Does anybody know if that's per month or per year?
- If it's the latter one, then it's really bad in comparison to Slovenia [€15K per year].

LOL.. seriously? Do you really expect the governments to give a tax rebate of $25,200 per year? And that too in Asia? I have no idea about Slovenia and this is the first time I am hearing that they have such a high threshold. If this is true, then Slovenia may be the second paradise for cryptocurrency users (after El Salvador offcourse, and the added advantage is that you don't need to deal with gang violence as the case with the latter). I am OK with this threshold. $2,100 is not a small amount and it is enough for the part-time investors to avoid paying taxes on their profits from crypto.
157  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-09-04] 70% of Salvadorans opposed to Bitcoin Law as Sep. 7 implementation on: September 28, 2021, 01:17:10 PM
There is proof which indicates that this percentage has changed. A few days ago, the president (Nayib Bukele) tweeted that 2.1 million Salvadorans have signed up for the Chivo wallet and completed the KYC process (which includes facial verification). Do you guys really think that someone will sign up, if they oppose the BTC implementation? And this figure represents around 35%-40% of the adult population (after adding in the expat population as well). The protests have also calmed down and people are adjusting with the new reality.
158  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin an asset or a currency? on: September 28, 2021, 11:42:26 AM
For me, Bitcoin is more like gold. It is to be used to protect your wealth from asset seizure and inflation. The difference with gold is that Bitcoin is easier to store and even more easier to transfer. If needed gold can be used as a currency (gold coins, bars.etc). Due to the portability of Bitcoin, it is more convenient when compared to gold, to be used as a payment mode. In short, Bitcoin is suitable for multiple purposes - as a currency, as an asset and as a store of value. And it doesn't matter whether a government has awarded the status of legal tender to Bitcoin. Because the governments can't do anything about BTC. They can't control it.
159  Economy / Economics / Re: After 1 year of Covid 19 Virus on: September 28, 2021, 11:28:07 AM
First-world countries have access to vaccines and that's why they're easily backed. But we'll see the light soon and even the third world countries will also be back.

Hopefully next year, we'll see the drop in cases and death.

LOL.. In 2020 we were saying that COVID will be gone by 2021. And now in 2021, we are hoping that the pandemic will be contained by 2022. Personally I don't believe that even in 2022 that is going to happen. The pharma companies know it. They are ramping up their production and having roadmaps up to 2025 or even beyond. And with the emergence of new strains with every passing month (Delta Plus is not the one which has caught everyone's attention), I agree with their viewpoint. The situation is not going to get better anytime soon.
160  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: September 28, 2021, 10:50:57 AM
Now the Australian domestic season has been hit by COVID. The match between Queensland Bulls and Tasmanian Tigers was abandoned, after 4 new cases were reported in Queensland. To clarify, none of the players or their contacts were infected, but Tasmania refused to continue with the tour and returned home. All the Shield matches involving New South Wales and Victoria are currently on hold because of the ongoing pandemic in these states. Queensland becomes the third state to join the list. The other three first class sides (Western, Southern and Tasmania) haven't reported any cases from their territories.
