Draper's  probably headed to Argentina.

Or Bulgaria. In fact any number of countries with "weakening currencies".

Interesting that you mentioned Bulgaria, as I was just about to post an article about bank runs there.

http://www.economist.com/blogs/economist-explains/2014/07/economist-explains

It seems that they have not actually been caused by economics, but by a shadowy campaign of scaremongering..
'But still.. people will fear, as they remember previous crashes and bank runs in the 90's

Nautiluscoin has moved up from #6 to #5 on coinwarz :-)

By the time it gets to 1, POW will be over, so they won't be able to add it.

My thoughts exactly.

I was wondering the same .. if this coin is going POS soon, what is the point of this voting ?

Recognition. Free advertising, and so on. There's a number of reasons. The more exposure the better.

Also, just because you can't mine something, doesn't mean we don't need exchanges to trade on.
423  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gold collapsing. Bitcoin UP. on: July 01, 2014, 02:11:59 PM

that theory is bogus.

i don't think there is any company in the space who's done more for bitcoin than Bitpay. they've facilitated adoption from the beginning and we wouldn't be nearly as big as we are without them.  they were the pioneers in that area.  what they facilitated was monetary velocity which is critical for any currency, new or old. it doesn't matter if the merchant wanted Bitpay to sell them immediately. there had to be a buyer anyways and the sales are offloading those coins to new holders that value those coins more highly than the merchants. another way to describe it is liquidity. allowing usage of the coins is important.

it's also great that this firm is holding them. they're helping to close the loop. and this isn't double speak from me. what's important is that aggregate demand is increasing throughout the space.

Ok - i take your point, and it makes sense. that the fact they're increasing liquidity, merchant adoption etc. has accelerated bitcoin infrastructure growth and moved us on. Just last year how many merchants accepted it? Very, very few.

Esp. agree with this: 'it's also great that this firm is holding them. they're helping to close the loop'

& 'what's important is that aggregate demand is increasing throughout the space.'

keeping the bitcoins for B2B transactions

ding, ding ... these will be the winners.

do you guys know if there is the infrastructure there for B2B payments? as far as i know, all payment processors dont allow payments to be taken as btc and held as btc instead of converting to usd.

The point is you don't need a payment processor at all! Just get your accounting dept. to transfer the btc balance to a given address.
Simple wallet to wallet transaction. A to B with no C.

426  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC drop to next level coming...bail the F out now! on: July 01, 2014, 11:55:03 AM
The lines have crossed and the drop to next level is coming along. I would strongly advice peeps to drop their load right about now while you got a chance.

I am not happy saying the above but that's what its about and a sincere shout out to homies~

He was right.

Genius.
Well obviously a prediction will not last forever.
He predicted it was going down soon, and it did shortly after the post.

Yeah, i stumbled accross this thread, and so i went back and looked. He was right... it did drop.
But only from 450 - 420.47 or something. And that was IT. The bottom. The lowest price since his prediction came about 1 week later..

The point is..it dropped by ~$30 and has only gone up since then.
427  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 01, 2014, 10:10:22 AM
I like 80%+ of Tera's posts.

There is no need to target everyone who doesnt think btc will hit 100k in the next week. Ever super bears do not bother me if they actually mean what they say, and not just posting crap for attention (aka some people we all know, no need to name them)

Agree but thing is with TERA, while she is indeed a good trader you cant help but think bullshit every time a movement happens and she claims to be on the right side of it despite being super the other way 5 mins before. Funny you mention the other one, he actually predicted $650 1st of July, scarily accurate.

i think i know to whom you refer.. but he is hardly a super bear, is he?
428  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gold collapsing. Bitcoin UP. on: July 01, 2014, 09:58:08 AM
It's this kind of news that I see as a big deal. Not using payment processors, keeping the bitcoins.

http://www.coindesk.com/singapore-architecture-design-firm-accept-keep-bitcoins/

There was a theory floating about that said, using bitpay etc. actually does nothing for the bitcoin community, as it creates selling presure whenever a merchant accepts bitcoin as a means of payment, the btc is converted almost immediately into fiat.

It's forward thinking companies like the one in the article who will spearhead the second phase of merchant adoption. i.e. - keeping the bitcoins for B2B transactions.
429  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gold collapsing. Bitcoin UP. on: July 01, 2014, 09:27:33 AM
Newegg is fricking huge.

it has to be the biggest company to date right?

Probably.. it's the one that makes the most sense to me, at least. BTC + Techies / Computer components, it's almost a no brainer.

Germany has decided its gold is safe in American hands.

fucking german pussies!

(I'm german, so I'm allowed, right?)

We will see if they are so "pussy" as you believe when they face France the next Fryday  Cheesy, my bets are for France so i hope you are right

looking for a trustable bitcoin-based sports book so I can put money where my mouth is. any suggestions? 2 years ago I used anonibet, but not sure they're even still around.

Check xbet.io
Decentralized betting using the counterparty protocol. Completely removes the trust requirement as the funds are escrowed by the protocol. It does require a wallet at counterwallet.co though (blockchain style wallet, so nothing stored on their servers)

Anonibet are still going.. in fact they are now a member of the BF - and if i remember correctly - they've recently won a prize from the BF for being the best BTC company through the world cup, or something like that.

Here's a link to coindesk: http://www.coindesk.com/anonibet-talks-bitcoin-foundation-membership-world-cup-contest/

Off topic - like everything else on this thread... but relative nonetheless.

It's an article from last December from BI - with an economics professor who has clearly no idea about bitcoin, thrashing bitcoin.

It's funny how wrong he was.. and also I wonder is he still spewing FUD - or has he moved on to talking about something else he has no fucking idea about? Anyone know? Is he  a paid shill or what?

I learned something while reading here.
And that is that nobody and i really mean nobody has a fucking clue what they are talking about.
Anybody who uses this thread to know when to buy and sell might as well throw some dice or darts. The results will probably better.
All these "facts" and charts and lines and people acting like they know it all.
It really isn't much better than the Btce troll box here. A bit more civilized maybe but in the end it's nothing but idiots screaming BUY BUY BUY SELL SELL SELL! We all do it in one way or the other.
Also hilarious how everyone is an auction expert suddenly. And a China expert and an expert in anything really.

except that you love the idiots that yell BUY BUY BUY because you are the same type of idiot bull-tard as they are, and you hate traders and non hodlers and who ever question anything, you are like a religious-tard who never question things because it is a sin and god forbid.

It seems to me that the wall observer is more of a place to have fun with pictures of trains and stuff, rather than actual speculation.
When someone posts an actual chart, everyone points out that it looks like a serpent or something Grin

+1  - At least somebody has been paying attention.

POS= Piece of SHIT I'm dumping last of my naut before it sinks like the titanic
Top 10 dumbest comments I've read on this forum, and that's saying a LOT!

I read his comments..it makes sense now. He's a miner - doesn't like anything he can't mine and dump.. PoS is anti- his world. But yeah. Still dumb.
435  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [NAUT] Nautiluscoin - First Coin w/Stabilization Fund - Digishield on: June 19, 2014, 09:09:11 AM
Still out of sync - closed the wallet for +10 mins.. even restarted pc- 9 hours behind.
I doubt it' s just me - looks like a network problem.
Hope it gets fixed soon and i'm sure it will.

OK - I'll read back some pages - what if i add nodes or something in the config? or is that just miners?
437  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [NAUT] Nautiluscoin - First Coin w/Stabilization Fund - Digishield on: June 19, 2014, 08:17:46 AM
It's strange. And I've seen others with synching issues posting here, and also with the hashrate/network speed issues too, but i wasn't affected then.
I'm sure it will be okay later!

438  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [NAUT] Nautiluscoin - First Coin w/Stabilization Fund - Digishield on: June 19, 2014, 07:44:12 AM
is anyone else having wallet syncing problems?

did the whole network just stop?

Saying 8 hours behind. I restarted it, but it's just the same..

Also, i'm not showing up anymore in the top100 - when i should be around 30'ish with 21k..

 Angry

Maybe funny to us mtdspain or others outside the US - but it's a different matter to those inside the US, esp. those on Wall st. - you know, like the exact type of people who BK is trying to attract to this coin.

Honestly, from reading these forums and being involved in bitcoin over the last year or so, I can sense the fear / paranoia that US citizens seem to have of their regulatory bodies / IRS / whoever.

They have real powers and to fall foul of these guys brings real hardship and heavy handed treatment.
It would be imperative on any serious business to stay on the right side of the powers that be in the US.
The penalties for not doing so are outrageous.
