421  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: mybitcoin down or just me? on: July 29, 2011, 10:58:49 PM
Yeah I'd be very careful with them.  I might think about using them if they went on the bitcoin show and talked about it.  From what I understand bruce offered a while back.
422  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: mybitcoin down or just me? on: July 29, 2011, 10:43:39 PM
I dont use it, but not loading here.
423  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [IDEA] Mobile Bitcoin Exchange. on: July 29, 2011, 05:59:22 PM
it's gonna be an armored truck with wifi (password protected), a usb slot (camera monitored) and some goon in the back with a shotgun

I like your thinking
424  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [IDEA] Mobile Bitcoin Exchange. on: July 29, 2011, 05:43:59 PM
Sounds like a likely way to get mugged.

Ok maybe just daytime then.
425  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / [IDEA] Mobile Bitcoin Exchange. on: July 29, 2011, 05:39:35 PM
Everyone loves the ice cream man.  What about the Bitcoin Exchange man?! Rolling up and down the streets in his big Van (or small car)with a bitcoin symbol on the side.  He'll buy bitcoins from you or he'll sell them to you all day and night.  Not sure what song he'll play while going down the street yet.  But we'll figure that out.

He sells bitcoin merchandise, he sells other things but only deals in bitcoins of course.

Thoughts?
426  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Ever have bitcoin nightmares? on: July 29, 2011, 05:27:57 PM
While asleep last night I had my first bitcoin night mare.  I was on a beach in florida at night with my laptop and I had about 200 bitcoins in my wallet  For some reason (dreams dont make sense)  I left my computer and walked off.  While I was gone I realized I forgot my computer on the beach and that I didn't back up my wallet.

When I got back to the Beach it was daytime and it was full of old people.  Each old person on the beach had the same computer bag as me.  I didn't care, I tried going through everyones computer bag to find my bitcoin computer.  Old people were punching me pulling my hair telling me to get lost.  I woke up sweating.  Bitcoin nightmares are scary. Sad

427  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Technical Analysis on: July 29, 2011, 06:17:56 AM
for me your analysis is too expensive! i trade only to learn bases of trading and analysis, indicators, etc... but i do not invest thousands of dollars, so if i have to pay 5 BTC per month, i doesn't take long until youve got all my money... (greed or specified selecion?)
i would use it for 0.5 BTC - 1 BTC per month... (eventlually many more people will use, and you've got higher profit)

I agree I thought that was way high.  I was gonna subscribe just for the hell of it, but I'll be broke.
428  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do we get the women on board? on: July 28, 2011, 10:46:29 PM

They want shinies, they want fast transfers, they might won over by ideology, but probably not the ideology of libertarianism. They want to use the system that their favorite site uses, and they want to use the system their friends use. This by the way probably describes how mainstream males think too.

Way to stereotype, much! lol.

I'm a female who was actually drawn to bitcoin for the ideology of libertarianism. But yes, I also would like to see it used in my favorite sites, would like my friends to use it (though this wouldn't impede my own use of it if they didn't) and, yes, what I quoted from your initial post above pretty sums up over 90% of men as well.

To this end, while women will certainly play a role in getting bitcoin to go maistream, I think bitcoin needs more of an air of familiarity. Websites that have attractive, rather than just functional designs, would be a good start. More merchants selling more than just gadgets (though I do know a few female gadget fiends) - Bitcoin World Market will probably get a decent female following once bitcoin takes off as it sells beauty therapies, scented candles, gourmet and organic food items, chocolate... OK, now I'M stereotyping, cos I can easily live without chocolate. lol.

Incidently, BWM it will also probably get a really decent gay following. THAT's a fringe market that might be worth soliciting before the mainstream gets in on the act - particularly 30 something+, professional (whether in the arts, corporate or other business sectors), with no dependents.

Quite frankly, I think an air of exclusivity coupled with sophistication is what bitcoin needs. Bitcoin-only offers to special events, one-offs or limited editions that can only be purchased with btc... Basically, something that will make people have to buy bitcoins in order to take part in this special offer/event/promotion/exclusive service would be a good idea, something that makes them feel like trendsetters rather than geeks. This would be my idea, I guess, of the "shine" you mention women want.

There is an adult site that sells some "gadgets" that women might like for bitcoins.  Thats a start maybe. lol

What a douchebag
430  Economy / Speculation / Re: Kook's Price Speculation! Backed by facts! on: July 28, 2011, 03:00:57 PM

The land is cheap on the big island of hawaii.  Lots of open minded people on the east side.
432  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bit-Pay.com / Super Boost for Bitcoin Economy on: July 28, 2011, 04:13:01 AM
Your website is a bit slim on the details (no sound here, so I have not watched the video.  I tend not to watch video.  You may find that developers tend to not watch video, we like to read.)

I have a website that sells stuff.  I use PayPal shopping cart.  Can I do a similar thing with Bit Pay?  The PayPal shopping cart is dead simple to implement.

alternately:

I am transitioning my site to Wordpress.  Is there a Wordpress plugin for Bit Pay?

Thanks!

Bruce did it step by step on the bitcoin show today and it looked hella easy.  Just like paypal but with alot more cool features.
433  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tradehill - lawsuit waiting to happen on: July 28, 2011, 03:49:45 AM
BUMP

Perhaps the people name calling me a troll should take another look at Tradehill and ask the necessary questions about their operations.  Missing $37,000 in first two months is hard to pull off without spectacular sloppiness.

Something makes me think there are a couple dwolla employees on posting on this forum.  They're pretty easy to pick out.
434  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: [POLL] Will you reverse your Dwolla transactions? on: July 27, 2011, 06:31:15 PM
I wasn't but now that you showed me how easy it is, why not.

Thanks

Just don't blame me if you go to jail!

If I were running an exchange, I would disconnect my bank account from Dwolla ASAP! Let them sleep in the bed they made.

I was being sarcastic.  Although i dont see how putting a step by step on how to do it, is very helpful.  I would never do something like that.

Not there anymore.   It was though.

WOW, you are right!  that means someone from Dwolla is reading this thread  HELLO THERE ?  why don't you guys answer some questions on this thread ? what are you afraid of ? Huh

I seriously doubt Dwolla is lurking here.

I think they are definitely reading this thread.  This is a little chunk of their business right here.

RP is a great educator, but he doesn't apply his conclusions about the state to all fictitious institutions (namely religion).
I also was a fan of RP until I watched an interview in which he denied evolution.  (And I might point out that he is a medical doctor.)

To disreguard everything else someone says because they don't believe in evolution is pretty lame.

I'm not religious at all but I don't even know if I believe in evolution.  Its a nice theory.

I don't think BusmasterDMA is rejecting everything he says. He is merely stating that he was an RP fan up until that point. When RP arbitrarily rejects evolution, he rejects the scientific method. But then he uses the scientific method when explaining economics and the morality of the state.

The general public throws the word "theory" around as if it means the same thing as opinion or personal preference. It does not. Theory has a very strong meaning scientifically, and has a very high barrier to entry. So when people say that something is "a nice theory," or is "just a theory" it's an attempt to undermine science and the scientific method.

I don't tend to put all my faith in science.  Lots of things that were "facts" when I was a kid have been proven wrong and replaced with a new "fact", how many things that you believe as fact today will be proven wrong tomorrow?  Is there even a scientific method when it comes to the theory of evolution? or is it just darwins little drawing? <-- this is a serious question actually.

Peace
MIke

EDIT: I probably wont reply to anyone who answers for the simple fact that I don't want to keep bumping this thread.
440  Economy / Speculation / Re: Price rise after the 25 day MtGox 0% trade fee is lifted on: July 27, 2011, 01:46:12 AM
