281  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin7.com - Matching algorithm that steals money from you? on: August 14, 2011, 04:01:07 PM
Why do you trust bitcoin 7?  They seem to be pretty shady and haven't really been part of the community.  They've copied some of tradehill's pages word for word.

I wouldn't be surprised if they dissapeared from the web tomorrow.

Why do you trust them?

Imitation is the highest form of flattery. Although I see your point, I'd hardly call copying the entire look, feel, design and wording from Tradehill makes it anything more than just another fine example of the greedy and profiteering mindset of Bitcoiners who think that Bitcoin will somehow do something for them that they couldn't do with fiat currency. If it's useful, let them be.

Why are you so protective of shady businesses? First it was mybitcoin now its bitcoin7.

People shouldn't trust their money to people who dont really show their faces or make an effort to instill trust.  I don't believe in telling people what to do, but please don't complain when your funds go missing.

283  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Shares of GLBSE now listed ON GLBSE on: August 14, 2011, 01:20:31 AM
So, what would general voting be?
I'm thinking about attempting to get involved, but wanted to make sure I'd have anything worth while to input.

So far the only thing that we've really had a vote on are the bylaws. Most of the other shareholders are very passive. So we've not really had any votes since.

Nefario.

I was browsing your site and I love the idea of buying shares of companies.   Do you have a thread that explains how to do it?  I'd love to invest in something.  When will trading of shares start? That would be dam fun.

Started 2 months ago, you can find information about listed shares here companies.glbse.com, many of the listed shares haven't filled in their information pages yet though, so you'll have to find their information spread over the forum.

To actually start trading go to glbse.com

glbse.com says trading coming soon... ? guess I still dont understand.

Maybe you could just license + buy one and set it up outside your front door then? Wink

I'm more concerned about:
User interface
and
Physical security

If someone rips open a bitcoin ATM, they cannot jsut steal the money inside, they can also rob the bank (as the ATM will either have a bitcoind node running or at least some credencials to a remote node).

Bitcoin ATMs need built-in guns if people get too touchy-feely.  And a face of Samuel L. Jackon yellin "Nuh Uhhhhh Mothafucka"

Maybe it can have a sensor that detects movement, and if it does it just shoots the bitcoins to another wallet offline.  It also has 2 stun gun probes that shoot out and take care of the attacker.

Seems pretty easy to service too.  I'm sure everything can be monitored remotely which is pretty pretty cool.  If it needs more bitcoins, just send them from your beach chair.

Maybe we can get jobs servicing and getting them running in our areas.  Chances are that guy reads the forums like everyone else.

10% is 100+

72% say < $12

10% say < $5

I voted for >1 because I was drunk when I saw teh poll but I think around 10 to 12 also.  I also leave myself open to the fact the people might go crazy and start buying next week and we'll be in bubble mode.  I'm also open to the fact that a solar flare can hit the earth and fry all of my electronics tomorrow.
293  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The most convincing information about Bitcoin to bring in friends on: August 13, 2011, 04:53:38 AM
Try giving them Bitcoins for free Smiley

Thats actually the worst idea ever.  I gave my sister and my friend one bit coin for free and they lost them.  Never give your bitcoins away for free hoping to get someone excited about it.  Make them pay you.
294  Economy / Speculation / Re: No, a long, slow slide. on: August 13, 2011, 04:11:41 AM

Mt. Gox, last 60 days.

A fairly clear pattern has emerged.  The general trend is a drop of about 25% per month. When there's a big drop, there's usually a rebound the next day, but it's always smaller than the drop. There haven't been more than two up days in a row in the last two months.

There's also never been a week without good news it seems like.  This might be the first week of good news in a while.  I'm predicting a run up next week starting monday or tuesday.

If it's a red weekend, you're all communists and hate freedom!

Either you're with us or you with the terrorists Ixcoin.
297  Economy / Speculation / Re: Green Weekend ? on: August 12, 2011, 06:41:35 AM
I think your going to be sorely dissapointed if you back this claim up with $$$

298  Economy / Speculation / Re: Green Weekend ? on: August 12, 2011, 06:02:27 AM
I see us breaking new records this weekend and hitting $15 by Sunday. People are going to eat it all up !

Bitcoin Swami shares your thoughts young lad.   Nothing like seeing all green on the bitcion charts.
299  Economy / Speculation / Re: I'm all in. on: August 12, 2011, 05:38:01 AM
I think the anticipated conference rise has already been priced in.  It got priced in during the spike from $7.5 to $12, in fact.

Good that someone is ballsy enough to invest.  I'm trying to be "all out", but just not managing to time the peaks.

no people are waiting for the "weekend dip" to finially make their conclusions.

The runup from 7 to 12 was probably just one guy, bill gates or that guy from jersey shore flaunting his dollars.

Sorry I don't have any more money in there so I can buy your "all out" bucks. Sad
300  Economy / Speculation / I'm all in. on: August 12, 2011, 05:08:31 AM
Not that much but I bought 80 bitcoins between 8 and 9 dollars. (thats all in to me)

Reasons.

1.  Most of the hackers probably sold off before fees kicked back in.

2.  I think the price will rise because of the conference.  I think you might think that too, which is another reason why I bought.

3.  I'm crazy and have had a few drinks. (dont listen to anything I type)

I also realize I could be wrong, but I"m going with my gut.  If I lose it all oh well. (you never lose until you sell)

remember kids never invest in something kooky unless you can't afford to lose it all.
