421  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: -- Butterfly Labs New 600GH "Mining Card" - RED FLAGS?!?! on: January 19, 2014, 07:31:34 AM

But the BFL BitSafe looks simple enough that they can't mess it up.

To bad we cannot upgrade are Monarchs to a Bitsafe.

You would seriously store any amount of Bitcoin in a BFL device?  Huh Huh

It's stored on the block chain noob.
422  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: DRILLBIT SYSTEM Miners - Thumbs (Temp NA), 8 Boards (0 left) on: January 18, 2014, 01:38:50 PM
Yep I have the same problem the driver for the atmel is not working for me either on the boards.

I had another go, actually followed the instructions within the Atmel .inf file.  First you need to uninstall+delete the WinUSB driver.  Then re-plug your device, go to Device Manager, find the Eight or Thumb device that is missing the driver, select 'let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer', then select 'all devices' and click 'have disk'.  Now browse or enter the path to the Atmel driver atm6124_cdc.inf which is provided in the drillbit f/w upgrade files.  You'll get a warning message about an unsigned driver, click next and you are done.  Now go to Device Manager and confirm that now there is a Com port for your Drillbit device and note the number.  Run Bfgminer, enter your pool and user credentials, type M and '+' as per the prompt, then DRB:all, and voila, your drillbit device(s) are found and mining.  You can now type 'M' again, select each device, change over-clocking by C(lock) and V(oltage).  While this is some achievement, in fact the hashing performance that I get is significantly lower than in cgminer....Sad

Cheers
That why I use cgminer on linux, just compile it with the drillbit flags, install no other drivers and start mining.
423  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: -- Butterfly Labs New 600GH "Mining Card" - RED FLAGS?!?! on: January 18, 2014, 08:13:07 AM
I wonder where Darren "Bicknellski" Bicknells promised hardware is?  He promised to deliver it in December and here it is January and nothing... yep, certainly the guy I would take advice from.

I hear the Montessori are good at designing advanced cryptographic hardware.

You spelt it wrong BTW.

Nope still no joy.

anyone here on the Drillbit forums able to poke an admin I am still waiting for approval.

Regards

Is Drillbit even alive? When was the last time Barntech posted here or on their forums?

That's why most of the support questions are back in this thread. The Drillbit staff have abandoned the community it seems.

Umm... they've been answering questions often on the Drillbit forums and they've just revamped their main website in prep for the new run of Bitfury and Avalon Boards/USB thumbs.  That's far from abandoning the community.
Except, as several have pointed out, you can't join those forums without an admin like Barntech around.

Lajz99  has admin position on the DrillbitSystem forum http://drillbitsystem.com/forum/index.php?PHPSESSID=h167no285ig024tq4tatigmh77&board=1.0

Then why are people complaining in this thread that they can't get access to the drillbit forums?
425  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: -- Butterfly Labs New 600GH "Mining Card" - RED FLAGS?!?! on: January 18, 2014, 05:35:34 AM
.. ::)So can you REALLY hate them.. : D

Yes.

Absolutely.  Also they don't have what you want unless (like me) you really like the coffee cups.

If BFL/HashFast/Cointerra/etc/btcolympus/etc.  actually had miners in hand we would not hate them.  It is the fact that they each and all sell things which do not exist at the time of sale and can't figure out any form of project management or customer expectation setting to make these Unicorns come to life.

BFL have 25GH/s and 230GH/s units in stock, it's just that they are the 65nm tech which people don't want anymore.

Is there any way I can check why cgminer keeps killing my GPUs?
As soon as I higher the Intensity above 11 it crahes.
I've already got some 280x running with Intensity 13 and all kind of settings on 730 khash but my new ones simply crash.
I13 is where most people leave it set.

It was already posted several days ago in other BFL threads here.
431  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: -- Butterfly Labs New 600GH "Mining Card" - RED FLAGS?!?! on: January 16, 2014, 08:25:27 PM
They weren't out of fab until late December according to one of his other posts. So it looks like their schedule slipped.

What a surprise! Let's see how are the slipping the shipping date now.
No kidding!, Hah!, Have they "taped out" yet? Wasn't shipping of the product supposed to take place in December?

They have the wafers back from the fab already.
Obviously you don't pay much attention before posting.

432  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: DRILLBIT SYSTEM Miners - Thumbs (Temp NA), 8 Boards (0 left) on: January 16, 2014, 10:04:40 AM
So far flashed the firmware with no problem and removed all other load from the hub (block erupted and fan)
But sadly no different yet
CGMiner next

Sadly no Joy with the new cgminer either.

Trying to get registered on the Drillbit forums but admin approval seems to be taking days.
Did you compile cgminer with the drillbit option? It's not enabled by default.

433  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGMINER ASIC FPGA miner monitoring RPC linux/win/osx/mips/arm/r-pi 3.10.0 on: January 16, 2014, 02:01:18 AM
I have a Ubuntu Linux server with all the current updates, running a variety of miners plugged into it on cgminer 3.10.0

I plugged a nanofury NF1 into a usb hub that has a few block erupters in it and the NF1 would only mine at just less than1GH/s.

I removed the block erupters and the NF1 started mining at full speed. Even if I add just one block erupter the NF1 instantly halves it's speed. The block erupter mines at full speed only the NF1 is effected, neither reports any errors that I can see.The power pack for the hub is 2.1Amps so it should be able to handle that, so I think it might be a conflict of some sort.

434  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: WHAT! :( Butterfly Lads won't deliver the Monarch Till March or April:( on: January 15, 2014, 11:48:02 PM
So... 300 GH/s at $2800 delivered in Mid March or most likely a lot later for anyone ordering today at the cheaper price?

That is over $9 gh/s for the card not including psu, casing, hosting and our favorite EXPEDITED shipping, in Mid March if you were first to order or "upgraded".

Let's see, $9/GH for something delivered several months from now, or $10/GH (Bitmain) delivered next week. I don't like calling people names, but you'd have to be a blooming idiot to order from BFL!
The BFL 300GH/s Monarch is $1,497 for the March batch not $2,800. So that's $5 per GH/s.

https://products.butterflylabs.com/homepage-new-products/300-gh-bitcoin-mining-card.html

The Dec->Feb batch was $2,800

Actual Monarch wafer at their testing facility:
https://forums.butterflylabs.com/attachments/announcements/2697d1389811128-monarch-information-dsc_1162.jpg

Only 104 chips per wafer does that sound right?

435  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: DRILLBIT SYSTEM Miners - Thumbs (Temp NA), 8 Boards (0 left) on: January 15, 2014, 08:28:27 PM
Hi i have the same issues with the boards and have them running with cgminer controlled by cgwatcher
The setting i use is 49:2:850 with cgminer 3.10
However weird is that the older 3.9 version does allow a bit faster clocking 50:2:850 but you need to pull and push back the usb plug several times to get the board running without the unresposive asic messages.
It happens often that the miner crashes and you need to monitor several times to check if the boards do not pump out the endless unresponsive asic messages. If it does you are screwed again and need to start messing with the usb plugs to get it running again
this far i have not been able to get them to run faster because either the screen is full of unresponsive asic messages or cgminer crashes instant.
settings at 48:2:950 seems to be impossible to run

52:2:950 seems to be the best all round setting, it gives just over 20GH/s per board. Make sure you have the latest firmware.
436  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: WHAT! :( Butterfly Lads won't deliver the Monarch Till March or April:( on: January 15, 2014, 08:23:50 PM
Seriously hope those who have bought, will start mining come 1st May at least.

Well, the shipping information on the Monarch 300 product page says:

Quote
Shipping Schedule

This is a Pre-Order product which is not yet shipping.  If you're uncomfortable waiting until the development is complete and the product is shipped, do NOT pre-order this product. Perhaps undesirable, but this is a pre-order market.  Customers flatly demand to get in line for the new technology before it's finished development.  This has created a lot of drama for the manufacturers but it's something we simply have to deal with.  All manufacturers in this space have experienced some degree of delay with their first generation ASIC.  Every last one of them, so we're reluctant to give a specific delivery date.  However, this is our second generation, so we have much greater clarity on the process and plan to begin shipments in January 2014.  Orders are shipped in order date priority so any order placed now should be expected to be delivered in March.
 https://products.butterflylabs.com/homepage-new-products/300-gh-bitcoin-mining-card.html
(they have changed this shipping schedule at least twice that I know of, it use to say end of the year meaning Dec 2013, not Jan 2014)

Which sounds close to where they are at. Of course if these 28nm chips don't meet the power projections like the problems BFL had with the 65nm ones, then things could get ugly, not sure what their fallback strategy would be, multiple cards I guess.
437  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: WHAT! :( Butterfly Lads won't deliver the Monarch Till March or April:( on: January 15, 2014, 03:07:09 AM
The Monarch chips have left the German foundry and are in transit to the packaging plant which took about a week to package the 65nm BFL chips(unless they are using a different plant), so I would imagine they will receive the packaged chips at the BFL factory before the end of the month to start testing/production.

Strange that they are having the chips made in Germany.

440  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] TagCoin - The World's First Rewards Coin on: January 14, 2014, 12:04:08 AM
TAG seems to be sorting itself out but I will try to spread the message to spread the hash power. If it means creating a few pools as joint ventures with others then I can do that as well. I cannot demand that Botpool, or any pool for that matter, refuse new miners..:-) I can only ask them to throttle back...

As for which chain anyone should be on, I suggest going with the block explorer at explorer.tagcoin.org, which should always have the highest block...
If TAG "is sorting itself out" why is the block explorer reporting the last blocks with Difficulty: 0.00417864?
