1301  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: What'll happen to ASICs when they're no longer profitable to run? on: August 26, 2013, 03:42:38 AM
Is ROI from just mining important? It seems to be the holy grail.

The way I look at it, is if I mine with gen 1 ASICs at a loss and it now costs me $50 to mine each BTC, then guess what, I just got BTC for less than half the market price! I can trade on that. Obviously miners that just dump are going to loose out, but miners that know how to make profit trading will have an advantage over traders that paid more for their BTC. My ROI and more will come from the trading.

1302  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL announces 28nm 600GH/S blade for $4680 on: August 26, 2013, 03:35:43 AM
Crazy...some people paying $50,000 for the 500GH/s massive miners and then this immediately after they ship out like 10 of them. What a slap in the face.
the 500GH/s miner was a flop, it was meant to be a 1,500GH/s miner, but BFL screwed the power consumption calculations, so the 500GH/s was a hack job to still honor their commitment for a certain number of GH/s at a given price.  It wouldn't surprise me if the reason BFL were shipping the 500GH/s units so slowly was they wanted to replace them with a less power hungry chip for months now, but weren't ready to announce 28nm product.

1303  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Do we want to continue to allow varrious vendor hate in here? on: August 26, 2013, 02:56:21 AM
You need to appoint some mods, and set some simple rules as a sticky at the top of the subforum that's having problems. The mods can then enforce those rules and people calm down pretty quickly. The OCAU forums I hang out on, if the mod thinks there is something offensive in a post, they snip it out, and put the reason in bright red where the text was that broke the rules, and give a warning all can see if necessary. They don't just secretly delete content without giving a reason, it's all above board.  Locking derailed threads is important too.

1304  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: August 26, 2013, 02:46:45 AM
I'm looking forward to seeing this KNC Gen II gear. Can't wait for my unit in October either.
They probably haven't started designing it yet, remember they announced a break for a couple of months early next year to do so.
1305  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: What'll happen to ASICs when they're no longer profitable to run? on: August 26, 2013, 02:43:03 AM
For sure we will see some 20nm next year

IMO, while it should be technically possible, gut-check says I don't see it happening for Bitcoin ASICs in 2014 due to excessive NRE costs. If we're extremely lucky, we might hear about something near Christmas 2014, but more than likely 2015 before being able to own physical 20nm ASICs.
I am thinking Avalon via TSMC, and KNCminer gen 2. That's assuming the staff of Avalon haven't been lynched by an organized crime gang or something.

I wonder what the hash rate of this coin will be like when block reward becomes negligible.
Should be ok, the final rate is one coin every 30sec. that's still 2,880 coins per day for miners to fight over.
1307  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: What'll happen to ASICs when they're no longer profitable to run? on: August 26, 2013, 02:07:34 AM

Not sure if you were agreeing or disagreeing but given no Bitcoin ASIC company is on the same scale as Apple and Apple isn't looking at volume 20nm shipments until end of 2014 it kinda shows how far out 20nm is right now.
For sure we will see some 20nm next year, but will it be better ROI than 28nm? Normally new tech has a premium. There is lots of margin on the current 28nm ASIC offerings, so room to move there.

We would like to welcome the Zetacoin community to the https://cryptsy.com family of coins. Welcome!

Oh wow, that's really cool!

Thanks heaps for that.

1309  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: What'll happen to ASICs when they're no longer profitable to run? on: August 26, 2013, 12:32:40 AM
People will switch them off to save electricity until such time are they are profitable to run again.

Wont happen, If not big unprofitable, most will run in a hope of price rise
The big farms like ASICminer need to make a profit or their shareholders will scream.

p2pool not a real pool?
p2pool requires you run a wallet on your PC for the coins.  ZET creates a block every 30sec so keeping the block chain up to date on your PC's wallet is a pain.

p2pool can't deposit directly to an exchange like coinex.pw it can only send to your own wallet on your PC, so it's not as flexible as a proper pool.

So have all the problems been sorted out yet? Looks like a nice exchange I am thinking about using it.

1313  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BETA][EXCHANGE][REALTIME] CoinEX realtime exchange with ZERO FEES for beta on: August 25, 2013, 08:38:02 PM
I got banned 600days on BTC-e for mentioning coinex.pw twice in chat! It was simply in response to someone asking where they could buy ZET atm.

How bizzare, do they hate you?

I have never had a ban before on BTC-e not even a minute. Looking back through the trollbox archive I did mention coinex.pw 4 times in an hour, as there was a little discussion about ZET going on. Oh well, I removed all my funds from there now, I use to do 10-20 trades a day, their loss, not mine.

1314  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL announces 28nm 600GH/S blade for $4680 on: August 25, 2013, 01:40:39 PM
It's safe to assume if you placed a pre-order now for BFL's 600GH/s unit, you can expect to receive it sometime during 2016.  Rest assure this is in NO WAY a troll post either.  Given BFL's track record and performance.. it's the likely and realistic prediction.
The problem with your prediction is it ignores the causes of their past delays, eg having to last minute re-design the entire product line due to missed power targets, and assumes they haven't learnt from that. You might be right to some extent, but they don't have a track record of missing targets by 2 years yet. I certainly wouldn't fork out $4,680 without seeing a working prototype, same goes for KNCminer, Hashfast etc.

Hi, list position of Zetacoin?
I would expect it very soon.

PENNIES!!!  Angry
SHA256 pennies though, Cryptsy has not seen new SHA256 coin for ages.
1316  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ZET] Zetacoin - SHA256 coin - Pools up - Quick confirmations on: August 25, 2013, 07:15:15 AM
I am surprised there is only one pool. I know that scrypt pools rule, but I would have thought a couple more would have sprung up. I guess because ZET is only on a beta exchange (which isn't working atm) that people wont take it seriously until it hits Cryptsy.

there is a pool at CoinEX: https://coinex.pw/mining/pools/ZET
you can mine ZET straight into your exchange balance Wink
wondering why it wasn't added to the OP yet, mentioned it quite a while ago as it runs for like a week already.
Sweet, thanks for that.

1317  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BETA][EXCHANGE][REALTIME] CoinEX realtime exchange with ZERO FEES for beta on: August 25, 2013, 06:17:30 AM
Found a bug. I went to withdraw my small BTC balance, and there was no way to cut and past that in, when I try to select it on the left it moves a graphic element instead. So I typed in the amount by hand, clicked send, which worked, but it  now says the BTC balance is negative -0.0001BTC   and there was a mention of some network fee at the top of the page near the transactions list. It shouldn't be able to go negative, it should stop my transaction and mention the network fee before sending.

if you were getting syntax errors or blank pages, please try dropping your browser cache and refreshing the site. it looks like cloudflare screwed us up. going to open a bad ticket with them
Must have been down for a while, https://coinex.pw/trade/zet_btc says last trade 6hours ago.

Read the OP, jackass.
I did jackass, all the rest are p2pool.
