1321  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [Critical Update] Feathercoin 0.6.4 - Hard Fork at block 33,000 on: August 25, 2013, 01:54:16 AM

Well it's been over 3mths since this thread started and the FTC diff recalculation is still totally out of touch with reality.

504 block corrections with 41% adjustment is not working, almost every time I look FTC is way off the 2.5min block target. There have been at least 2 FTC releases since this thread and it's still not fixed.

FTC would probably be worth twice what it is if it worked properly.

I am just getting a blank secured page when I go to www.coinex.pw today.

1323  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: 400GH/s on: August 25, 2013, 01:21:03 AM
And as well as electricity costs/running costs?

You know a better thing to do would be to offer refunds at anytime prior to delivery.
Refunds are not better, they don't make you any ROI or profit.
1324  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: August 25, 2013, 12:48:30 AM
Where is the miner protection program?
http://hashfast.com/miner-protection-program/

The miner protection program is by offering refunds prior to delivery which most other ASIC companies don't offer.
I read that, not a bad idea.

Hi Everyone,

We have unveiled details of our Miner Protection Program here:  hashfast.com/miner-protection-program/

Nice idea.

Coinex looks ok, though it says Beta.
1327  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MtGox withdrawal delays [Gathering] on: August 24, 2013, 09:05:23 AM
Well, I've finally pulled the pin on MTGox.  USD Transfers from June 13th and still not completed.  Yesterday I cancelled all wire transfers and bought bitcoins.  I've taken all the coins out of MTGox.
No problems getting the BTC out?

If that's the case then I suggest others do the same if they need to withdraw funds and find another site to convert them. There are no shortage of BTC -> USD exchangers around.
1328  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [PAUSED] - GROUP BUY of BITFURY Chips + DRILLBIT SYSTEM mining assembly on: August 23, 2013, 02:07:33 PM
BFL completely, completely fucked me, straight-up lied and robbed me. The Avalons I tried to buy got caught in customs, permanently, apparently. Round three, Bitfury. I might have bought from KNCMiner but the fact that they haven't shown a prototype chip and they are supposed to ship in 1 week seems really fishy.

Just about all the ASIC manufacturers you mentioned are killing their own markets, incredibly short term thinkers. WTF were BFL thinking last year when they announced the 1,500GH/s Minirig? They got millions of dollars of orders for the things, from people that don't need to be mining at all if they can afford $30k a rig.
Why are Avalon taking orders for millions of chips, does the net need that much?

Same goes for KNCminer and the Bitfury 400GH/s units. Why release such powerful systems onto the network? By the time they ship they will be over priced and useless. What's the follow up, go 28nm and sell too many GH/s again, then what? That's as far as the tech goes, after that there are only price wars which will close most ASIC manufacturers, Moore's law wont save them, the diff rate increases are way faster. Had these people stuck with a 20GH/s product like the Drillbit board we would all be better off, and they would have had a sustainable market. ROI comes not from the number of GH/s you have, but how much those GH/s cost you. The Drillbit boards at $300 for 20GH/s are better ROI than an Avalon Batch #3 which will never pay for itself, nor will any BFL product shipped after Oct, including the Monarch which is now eta Feb 2014. If we get the Drillbit boards in Oct they will make positive ROI.

If I was an ASIC mining rig seller, I would place a limit on how many you can order. If necessary conduct random draws to even out the distribution.

The ASICs are mainly going to rich people, this is not how the Bitcoin network was intended to be. It was meant to be decentralized like the good old GPU days.
1329  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Butterfly Labs shipping 300 units a day on: August 23, 2013, 06:01:01 AM
I just received my Little Single ordered on 10/07/2012 and received it today 08/22/2013. Luckily hashing away at 30.5Gh/s, although this thing is as loud as my old 5970.

Pull the loud fans out and replace it with the types that has the switch to change speeds.

Interesting article:

Seems miners have to register with FinCEN too.

    Jalapenos: January 21, 2013

Little Singles: Oct. 11, 2012 pay date

Singles: July 5, 2012 pay date

    MiniRigs: MiniRigs for June 23 (2nd 500gh/s unit) and July 28 for 1st 500 gh/s

    Observations:
People who ordered Jalapenos usually only ordered one.
People who ordered Singles often ordered 3, 6, 12 or more.
People who ordered in January hardly wrote us any emails.
People who order MiniRigs don't ask for refunds ...

Jalapenos recently have been going out at about a weeks worth or orders per day.
1332  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: August 23, 2013, 04:01:37 AM
It amazes me that people are talking about a fast motorcycle ride instead of about the KNCminer PCB article on their site which has been up for over a day now.

Well...........an auction would mean a massive profit,so I can see your point in that.I was getting my cash/BTC in order to get in on this...but in light of an auction being the only way.......possibly.I'll have to pass  Sad

Still would like to know if this project is on course to start shipping by October Huh

Also,do you offer discounts on any kind of volume Huh  Say 15 boards Huh

There was less than 600 chips left when I placed an order 2.5hours before the notice went up. Someone after me placed  40BTC order. I would say there are not all that many chips left now.

Ah,I missed that,damn............ Wink  Last I checked there were 842 I think,oh well  Sad
megabigpower.com don't have the reels of 3,000 chips on their site anymore. I don't know why, you can buy individual sample chips at 1BTC each but what is the point of samples if you can't then buy bulk?

So, a batch #2 is looking shaky atm. which is sad, because I like the specs of this project the way it is. We'll have to wait until Monday to see how many chips are left from batch #1.

Announcement Thurs AUG 22nd 11:30 pm Sydney time.

I am going to be away this weekend so I won't be around to answer questions or process orders. Because we are getting to the end of the chips, we won't be accepting any orders during the time i'm away. I'll be back on monday and will kick everything again off from there. We may be looking at a new approach to distributing the final chips via auction. I have disabled the paypal buttons. Please don't send through any BTC over the next three days. Thanks guys. Have a great weekend.

Ah that explains why payments later on were not going through for people! It pays to read the first post in the thread  doesn't it!

1336  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL announces 28nm 600GH/S blade for $4680 on: August 22, 2013, 09:11:28 PM
ButterflyLabs buying ads on Facebook....    Instead of buying parts to finish the current backlogs....

Parts don't bring in more money.

^This. BFL is not selling mining equipment. They are selling promises of mining equipment. They want to maximize promises sold, and minimize equipment delivered.
I think what they are doing is milking people that have access to lots of money, in order to be able to afford the Monarch cards in the first place. Most of these people would not need to mine BTC, they would be better off simply investing in crypto coins with their funds. All these 28nm ASIC promises involve tying up funds for several months. You can earn several percent per week trading crypto which is instant ROI.
1337  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [PAUSED] - GROUP BUY of BITFURY Chips + DRILLBIT SYSTEM mining assembly on: August 22, 2013, 08:48:20 PM
Hey Barntech,

For those electricity- and ROI-conscious, have you considered an under-clocking option? I think I saw somewhere some Finnish dudes came up with a mode where you can squeeze about 1.75Gh/W out of Bitfury, which could extend its life span quite a bit, especially for the stacked units. It gives a lot lower hashrate in that mode, of course.
The the watts per GH/s will become an issue eventually next year, but at the moment the ROI in terms of BTC per day from the upcoming difficulty hikes is what ASIC miners are watching. Underclocking should be possible, but even with a full overclock, the power consumption of the board is going to typically cost $3-$6 per month depending where you live.

Is anyone else having issues paying my paypal? I get this come up after authenticating:

I put through a payment an hour or two  ago and it went though ok. Maybe it's hit a daily limit now or something?

1339  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [OPEN] - GROUP BUY of BITFURY Chips + DRILLBIT SYSTEM mining assembly on: August 22, 2013, 09:15:23 AM
It is not clear at prices for the chips.
We managed to buy chips at the old price? Or do we have to pay extra?
It's very clear, read the first few sentences of the first post in this thread.

1340  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [OPEN] - GROUP BUY of BITFURY Chips + DRILLBIT SYSTEM mining assembly on: August 22, 2013, 08:14:42 AM

Hey yes.

Exciting that we're almost there on the chip order. Looking good for this to happen smoothly (fingers crossed). We have been considering a second chip reel, but i just found out the new prices and they have gone up dramatically, so it's not really doable. We are really lucky we got the chips for the price we did. They are around 270% the price now. We would have to put the prices up a lot for a second reel, so probably just sticking to the one. Only 800 to go!
Why did they put the price up? Most ASIC prices are coming down with gen 2 stuff on the way.

Surely that much increase will kill the ROI.
