sorry...I guess I should have been more precise -- I am looking to BUY Zetacoin with US $$ (not trade for BTC or other coin)
That would probably be illegal unless you were registered as a money transmitter with FinCEN like one of the established USD->BTC exchanges.

I stopped mining when I reached 33K zeta.... I was thinking that there is no point in mining any more because such balances under single people are a little ridiculous.
.
Money is like manure, spread it around and it helps things grow, pile it in one spot and it just stinks.

Any left?
1225  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Bitfury is looking for alpha-testers of first chips! FREE MONEY HERE! on: September 03, 2013, 03:39:47 AM
I'm working on an aggressive new design:

12 chips in 5x10cm, designed to work with a backplane.  Onboard digital Vdd control (controllable via I2C from rpi/bbb), temp monitoring (also via I2C), overtemp Vdd shutdown.  Designed to have a heatsink mounted to the back with airflow; I expect this sucker to require some cooling!  40A of Vdd current capacity allows for up to 3.3A per chip.

I'm designing the backplane system now.  The initial backplane will be a bank of four of these modules, but I have grand visions of 600GH or 1.2TH miners, with windtunnel enclosures.
shouldn't you stick the edge connector near the middle of the board to stop the weight of the board trying to twist it out of the socket? Otherwise you need mounting brackets etc.
1226  Economy / Speculation / Re: Exchanges drying up, effect? on: September 03, 2013, 02:20:10 AM
Market sentiment determines the general direction, buy, sell, hold, not the price, bots care about price, because they can't sense market sentiment.

When BTC rises in price on Gox, it's because there is more USD to spend on each BTC, simple supply vs demand.  It doesn't matter if it's caused by a shortage of BTC or a surplus of USD the result is similar.

There are a lot of people holding LTC atm looking for the pot of gold at the end of the Gox rainbow. This reduces general liquidity. If Gox had said we are not adding LTC this year, then it's reasonable to assume that overall crypto trade would improve as the need to hold LTC would disappear somewhat.

Attached a Pt100 sensor and did some measurements.
Not getting very hot, only 38.5 oC. Time to start OC-ing
I guess:)

intron
Do the Bitfury chips have a sensor that can be read? cgminer does a nice job of looking after GPU clocks when it gets useful temp data.

Nice, it that a lot of gold plating I can see?

1229  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why not stıck to bıtcoın? on: September 02, 2013, 07:57:44 AM
Why not pick up your free on the side merged coins while you mine bitcoin?

Why bother NOT grabbing free namecoins, devcoins, groupcoins, ixcoins, i0coins, coiledcoins and geistgeld on the side along with your bitcoins when you mine?

Not doing so seems kind of like mining gold while throwing away all the silver, copper, and other metals lying there with the gold, you are digging anyway, why not pocket them too as well as the gold?

-MarkM-

Because all those coins you mentioned add so little to the profitability, you are better off mining another coin.

Bitcoin 100%

Namecoin 1.3%

Devcoin 0.03%

ixcoin 0.8%

where as something like Zetacoin will give you 140% let alone one of the scrypt coins which will give you several hundred percent over BTC.

Merged mining SHA256 is a waste of time as you shouldn't be mining Bitcoin in the first place if you are smart.

What's the getwork port? The getting started only mentions port 3333 which is stratum.

Hi Barntech

im a little confused. I ordered 10 Thumbs, because in the OP stays XX avaiable.
Even i dont get any comfirmation from you after paying.

Now i read this:

But just to make sure everything is clear. Nothing we have is "in stock". There are a few bits of wording on the new site that may be slightly misleading.

Are this thumbs in Stock? When they will be shipped?

Thx for the info

Read the first page. Nothing is in stock, we are talking about November shipments.

It's great to see feathercoin still up and alive  Smiley

There is actually a fair bit going on with FTC, mostly talked about on http://forum.feathercoin.com

The next big thing for the actual coin will be a diff rate formula change to make it a bit more responsive to miners that use coin hopping pools. That should be a welcome move.
1234  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why not stıck to bıtcoın? on: September 02, 2013, 12:32:21 AM
If you want my opinion all the asics have made bitcoin inaccessible to the masses, to the point that the easiest way to acquire btc is to pay cash for it, which in my opinion renders the entire idea of decentralized currency

you could see how altcoins could appeal to the masses that way.

A similar effect would occur if people that poured $millions into ASICs, had put the money into GPU farms. The problem is not ASICs, it's people with more money to invest in mining hardware will always take most of the BTC. An ASIC can cost way less than a GPU and they are available to anyone that wants them, eg a block erupter.

1235  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why not stıck to bıtcoın? on: September 02, 2013, 12:10:39 AM
Oh dear
You do realize I was talking about block generation!

How about something easier for you to understand.

Say someone invents a new super ASIC that's thousands of times faster then the best ones currently on offer. They set up a farm, grab 99% of the net hash rate, attack the block chain a bit,  let the difficulty rise to a hundred times higher than it was, then switch the farm off. Bitcoin is stuck at a crazy high diff and effectively ruined, transactions grind to a halt, game over.

Or someone with a lot of money can amass a huge ASIC farm and 51% BTC.
For sure, a disruption of the BTC network can come in a number of ways, a smart investors doesn't keep all their eggs in one basket, be it BTC, alt-coins, fiat, gold,  stocks, houses etc.
1236  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why not stıck to bıtcoın? on: September 01, 2013, 10:49:51 PM
Nonsense. if someone hacks SHA256 and mines all the remaining BTC in a day, the value will plummet and the scrypt coins will take over.

Oh dear.

You do realise all altcoins still use SHA256 don't you?
Scrypt is only used in block generation. The addresses are still calculated in part using SHA256 to convert the ECDSA public key to the addresses you and I see.

2 days now since I did a 0.1BTC withdrawl and it hasn't shown up in the block chain. I submitted a feedback ticket on the site,  and it hasn't been fixed, I am not the only one that has reported missing BTC withdrawls over the last couple of days.

Your balance has been fixed now, sorry for the inconvenience & delayed response.
Thanks for that.

A monoculture will eventually fail, that is reason enough to keep alternatives.

If if there were some innovation with new coins, and not just a copy / paste of the old coins Smiley

The site is not down, that is a local problem you are having. Try another web browser program.
