What's the actual process of applying a coupon to an order?  I have four available to me, but I don't ever remember seeing anywhere to enter coupon details at check out.

When you get to checkout you are offered a coupon there - be aware to change the quantity of coupons to match the number of units you are buying - the default is only to apply one coupon. So if you buy three then change the number of applied coupons to three etc...
Great!  Thanks for the info.  Of course my coupons arrived after I just bought another, so I have to debate when I want to get the next one. Cheesy  I don't think I can get one before the next difficulty change though, so I'll wait until the price drops a little further.  Maybe.

You want to get really cheap? Stop buying. For almost week this thread was dead. And then from 0.8btc they droped price to 0.6btc.
If they will see stagnation in this thread and no sale they will drop price so low its gonna be steal.

Well they have to be getting close to the lowest they can go.  what do you think it cost to ship one to the usa?

I just paid .554 btc  after a coupon .  in fiat that was  244 usd.   It  has to cost them  at least 34 usd .

  Labor packing box  handling

so they net 200. One could argue  that this is a very big push against big gear miners.

Most any home owner can have 2 of these. Or 400 gh maxed. at 800 watts.

if you down volt and down clock you can do 4 at 140Gh each maybe 700-800 watts. they are still decent gear if you can find ways to get past the power.   no current item does 2x efficient.

the spoon doodle s10 is .7 watts per 1 gh

this is 1.25 watts per gh

the best in the future is the spoon doodle sp30  maybe .4 or .5  watt per gh    the long wait for it will mean the extra efficiency is not much.

I wonder how this all plays out if btc slowly sinks to 350 usd and diff goes to 30bill

43542  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Best $/GH (cheap) Miner? on: April 28, 2014, 08:34:52 PM
The spondoolies group buy looks pretty solid- as long as they come in early August and the difficulty increase per month doesn't get too far beyond 45%. Kind of out of my price range atm though. Looks like the CoinTerras are all sold out.

I've thought about cloud mining, and I'll probably buy a few shares there. But at that point you're just buying stock- there's no fan noise or LEDs blinking.

Thanks for replying!

more news.. not only are cointerra's 1.6TH/s back in stock but they're doing some dynamic pricing thing and it seems very competitive ...

http://cointerra.com/cointerra-announces-daily-spot-pricing-terraminer-iv-bitcoin-miner-sales/

3900usd shipped to New Jersey for 1.6th

or get 2 ant miner s-1's at   bitmaintech for  about 500usd  down clock and under volt the miners

and run  them at 140gh each at about 200 watts. each.

i missed something.  i think your math may be suspect...

wouldn't you need TEN antminer s1's to provide the same hashing power as ONE cointerra 1.6 TH/s box (but it'd be nearly double the power consumption and much bulkier and clumsier).  and if you down clock them to get the power requirement closer you'd probably need almost FIFTEEN antminer s1's to accomplish the same thing as just one cointerra box.

And you're saying the antminers are usually 180 gh consuming 360 watts.  down clock them to 140 gh you say?  and then they're 'only' 200 watts? (still more power hungry than cointerra box)  assuming you're right you still 'only' need TWELVE of them... at $500 each?  so thats, er, $6,000 to get something thats significantly more bulky, more power hungry, and only 40% more expensive than a cointerra 1.6 TH/s miner thats on sale now for $3799.

ant miners are good for entry level mining.  they're cheep and cheerful but expensive to run.  but they make less sense at scale compared to bigger boxes that are designed for professional or serious amateur use.

-- Jez

ant miners are now at 260 usd each  or less. depends if you have a coupon.   down clock and down volt drops you to  140gh- 200 watts  10x = 1400 - 2000

so 10 for 2600 well 10 for .604 btc or 6.04 btc total   right now that is 2700 .  you need 600 or less in psu = 3300 that is under 3799.

Here is the problem no machine today will make money at the current diff to fiat price btc.   unless you have free power.

punch in any machine that is in stock and every one there is needs higher btc/fiat price to break even unless you have free or dirt cheap power.

All gear does not work  to pay off nothing zip zero.  So you need to figure out how do I get past the power issue.  you need about 5 cents a kwatt and .7 watts a hash with these really low fiat pieces for btc.

I received 5 .05 and 6 .15 coupons this past week. Just curious, are these one per transaction, or do they stack? Are they transferable? Does the coupon ID only work with my account? Thanks in advance for the information here, I've never used their coupons before.

I got 4 coupons today .05 each .  may order more.

I also would like to know 1 coupon per s-1 correct?

Yeah I am glad I kept 5 shares of this.  Summer is coming so I can't run 7 antminer s-1's at full speed. that is 2800 watts and 1400gh

I will cut them down to 5 and under volt ,underclock them. hoping to drop to 700-750 gh at 1000 watts

the 300gh from this buy will be helpful.
43550  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Lee group host miner]2650$! 1T bitcoin miner start to work for you on 27 Apr on: April 28, 2014, 11:31:07 AM
So how much electricity does that unit use?

I'm considering whether to do the hosted option or shipped option.  How much would it be fore paypal for both options?

I apologize - but I need to go to work and didn't have time to do the math - hopefully a kind soul can help me out! Smiley

At 1000 watts or 1 k-watt an hour that is 24 k watts a day or 720 k-watts a month

10 cents a kwatt = 72 dollars
15 cents a kwatt = 108 dollars
20 cents a kwatt = 144 dollars
25 cents a kwatt = 180 dollars
30 cents a kwatt = 216 dollars

shipping = 100 to 200 dollars

Cooling well for most people it is getting closer to  the summer.

1000 watts of heat = 5000 btus or 1 small ac unit  this would be 25 to 50 a month.

I did a few price break downs.

I come up with

at 10 cents a kwatt it pays to have it shipped to your home.
at 15 cents a kwatt it pays to have it shipped to your home.

higher then 15 cents and you are coming to the summer let him do it.

I did not figure in the psu dying. ------------He uses 220 volts.  Ths psu would work better at 220 volts if you use 120 volts the psu is more likely to fail.   If you want the best substitute psu it is this one

http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-SuperNOVA-1300G2-ATX12V-120-G2-1300-XR/dp/B00COIZTZM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1398684445&sr=8-1&keywords=evga+1300

and that is around 200 bucks. I believe it is better because of the price.

If you gave me a psu for free I would want one of these two

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JG5LSN8/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Professional-Digital-Modular-Platinum/dp/B008Q7HUR0/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1398684809&sr=1-1&keywords=corsair+1200

I did not figure in the noise.

I did not figure time needed to babysit it.  I do not think I would go on a vacation for a week with it running and no one to look at it.

I did not figure learning curve of how to use it.

My summer power is 18 cents a kwatt so I let him host.

If my power was 15 cents I would have let him host.

But at 10 cents I would have shipped it to New Jersey.
43551  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s Miner (1w/GH/s) on: April 28, 2014, 03:42:34 AM
Bitmain keeps tweeting that whoever has bought S1s recently will get coupons.  I have yet to see the coupons.  Has anybody else out there received coupons recently for S1 purchases?

No but what is recently?

 I purchased
3-19 for .988
3-21 for .938
3-26 for .893
4-24 for .630
4-24 for .630

My guess is I have surrounded the 'recent'  qualify for a  coupon dates     with the 3-26 (too long ago)    and  (too recent) 4-24 dates.

But  that is just a guess.

I did a quick ball park figure these miners would have mined feb 27 - march 3

diff was about  3.8      diff will be about 7.7.

so a 50% jump    from 40gh to 60gh  makes this more like  a 3 week delay. Which is not the worst thing to ever happen.

Hi,

I thought the maintenance was over: for more than 3 hours 3 of my miners are down again. This is concerning. :-/

Mine one has been up all day.  It is now around  10:45 am monday in china

New price for AntMiner S1: 0.619 0.614 btc each one, shipping cost included.

Zero soon.

well not if you apply my space heater idea / contest.  I can do a very solid break down in math that shows this will roi if btc stays at 440 usd and your power is 18 cents or less per k-watt.

Update  About 1 week of service so far.

I averaged around 1015gh and about 168 hours up and a 6 hour down time. I will be given a 5 dollar discount against my service/hosting fee. To make up for the lost hash.

I earned roughly .003 btc an hour on average  so that is about .5 btc earned.

One week is not 4 months but this was a good start.
43560  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Antminer S1 Sales open] Price changes daily, now 0.619 BTC for 180GH/s on: April 27, 2014, 03:53:04 AM
People learned the lesson and preoders are died long time ago.
Trust me, no one who have a bit brain will go for overpriced, non existent gear which maybe will be delivered at date given by factory and will give money towards this whole scam call preorders.

Unfortunately not true. There a $1 million+ pre-order going on right now: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=575499.0

yeah and they actually have the best real gear on the market  the sp10 as the teaser.

I don't knock the sp30 .   but the s10 can do 700 watts and 1 th……..     the sp 30 will do .4 or .5 watts a hash.    power efficiency   needs to be better.

I did a long rant on that thread just sell us sp10's now. you do not need sp30's

the power efficiency   of .7 to .4 watts a hash does not keep up with the diff increase  from now to aug.

I can say does any one think diff will be under 20 on the first of aug. it would be 21 if we do 15%.   we are at 6.9 so 21 is about 3 x the diff.  the power efficiency of the sp30 is not 3x that of the sp10  it is 1.8x better.

yet people buy it.

i think I will be better off with  a dozen- 2 dozen  well placed s-1s come  fall then 1 sp30.
