Today WeEx is going to make a statement. Whatever it means. I'm really sorry about your people.

the coins lost between weex and bips.me are a lot of money.  now that coins are over 800usd  this will become more common.

My .4btc lost/stolen at bips.me may never be recovered.  I am happy that this group buy just switched my address for yesterday's payment.

44464  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [GROUP BUY EU] #1 Bitmain Antminer U1 USB Erupter [ANN] on: November 25, 2013, 04:52:06 AM
To all... Now since BITMAIN provided me their sales rep email, I can directly contact them from now on. Hopefully I can announce the price by 3 days (not guaranteed). I know how you guys feel, I am very excited about my first group buy too!

Thanks a lot and hope to work with you guys!
how is it that you're having direct contact with Bitmain and everyone else (including myself) can't even get a simple reply from them.
would you mind please sharing how to contact them directly.
I don't want to compete with you as I'm in Australia, I'd like to organize group buy for Australia or just buy to sell in Australia.
Should be enough interest for all as there's lots of interest in the USB miners.

I realised (my assumption) is that BITMAIN will not log in just to answer pm, unlike me Cheesy When he/she is online, send him messages. He will reply most of the time. That's how we communicate until he/she gave me the email. Also the email does not reply faster than the forums.
I finally got a reply about bulk buy of Antminer U1's from Bitmain yesterday, was during the auction.

and his reply was:
Quote
Hi merv77,

We want to sell the U1 in bulk and let the distributor to resell it. I have ask suggestion and pricing information with many resellers. Could you please give us some opinion to us? Our info@bitmaintech.com is viewed by 2 core member of our team, as well as this Bitmain account.

did he ask you same questions?

Edit. after giving my opinion he never got back to me.

I have to think that the auctions mean no gb's for now.

Just reviewing this.  It may be that the next adjustment comes about  Thanksgiving Thursday or black Friday.  Since KNC has been slow to ship and no one else has shipped a lot of gear  we could get a low jump like we did last diff adjustment.

Short term  this mean our KNC r5-r6  may whale  away for  5 days plus the new adjustment of  under 20% for 10 more days or so.    this would also be true for the r9-r12 black arrow rigs.  I always pop up with early projections.  So counting chickens is not the best practice.

Still looks like 15 -16 days at decent diff. the current 609 mill then 720 mill (a guess).

I am  Hoping for this btc  price bull run to  at last past Christmas into early next year.

As a tax tip.  cashing in coins on Jan 1-10  of  2014 means taxes will be due April 15, 2015.  Cashing in coins from now until dec 31st means tax will be due on them April 15, 2014.

These tax facts have  caused many price drops in stocks in early Jan year after year.
So I suspect that the stock aspect of BTC may mean a Jan. sell off. Myself I am doing the coins come in cash them out method.  I may put in for a few more shares of buy 17 when our dividends get paid this week.

Once again hats off to the guys running this.  Thomas, Bob,DZ  thanks again for doing the right thing.

As for selling the rig I wonder  if should consider selling it for 10 btc (8k)

we can get 14.25btc for it. based on this auction:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=341620.0

180gh went for 4.75 btc       untested un proven gear.  our rig is tested and works we hash at 550gh.

I figure it earns about  5-6 btc in the next 2 weeks we should have good diff the next 2 weeks.  I lean towards  hashing till the 10 of dec or longer.

Strange as it may seem, due to the fluctuations in BTC price, I have made ROI and have now turned on RRP to 50%. Since all of my contracts are indefinite, I should see prosperous returns from here on out.

I am not being a shill, but my figures are my own.

I commend philipma1957 on his postings through this thread, but I value my financial privacy.

I respect that you are entitled to privacy.

My funds are small so I don't mind revealing how I am doing.

If I had 1th or more   hashing I would not be so free with my figures. Since I am way under that  it is easy to talk.
44467  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Scammers on Ebay on: November 25, 2013, 03:59:24 AM
Let me share one example which may dissuade some of you from engaging in selling on eBay, given the real risks involved which eBay will never tell you.

I sold off my FPGA miners on eBay in May, when I started to transition to ASIC. Then in July, one of the buyers filed a bullshit chargeback with their credit card company, citing undelivered goods or something along those lines. Paypal pulled the amount from my Paypal balance. After I provided Paypal with the tracking number and the proof of delivery in the form of a signature form which I requested from USPS, Paypal gave me back my money.

I thought I was in the clear.

Fuck No.

The criminal buyer and his equally criminal credit card company ignored the proof that Paypal sent to them on my behalf. The credit card company refused to reverse the chargeback.

So guess what?

Paypal once again pulled the amount from my Paypal balance. I'm out the miner and I'm out the money.

I checked with eBay and Paypal to see how I can set up my listing so that next time, I can prevent people from paying using a credit card through Paypal and potentially abusing me again. Both eBay and Paypal said they can't and won't do that. So, I told them to fuck themselves. I have a 100% feedback on eBay and have been selling since the year 2000. Despite that, I walked away from the eBay/Payal platform that shifts all risk to the seller.

The chargeback example I provided above is just one of several scams enabled by credit card companies, eBay and Paypal. I've had enough and am not selling on eBay anymore. Frankly, after all the fees and shit they take from the seller, the margins really aren't worth the inevitable headache. Sellers take all the risks. Everyone else benefits. Well, it's high time I got out of that unbalanced, pathetic model.

that sucks >i have had chargebacks 2 or 3 and I won on all my cases.  and paypal ate the money.. around 1k.

I have also purchased from a few thugs about 1.3k and paypal ate the loss.  But I am a paperwork freak.  And I have done a lot of sales since 2003.

I have stopped big ticket sales due to chargebacks .  I stay under 1k.

I also insure and require signature for items over 250 cash.   but you are correct there are bad ebay buyers.

44468  Economy / Economics / Re: Are terms pyramid scheme and ponzi scheme misused? on: November 25, 2013, 03:52:27 AM
Bitcoins are neither. They neither depend on more people joining, nor is the inherent value of a BTC dependent on newer adopters. These allegations of it being either a pyramid or ponzi scheme stem from the suddenly rising value of it,but that value inflation is due to pure demand-supply equations rather than anything else.

yep and   since all world wide interest rates suck at this moment  people are more willing to take a shot at something like this.

sell me a 30 year fed bond for 10% a year and I have no interest in BTC.

we have left a 30 plus year world of high interest rates.. getting 5-10% has stopped worldwide and people want something to put money into.  a few years ago gold and silver were hot now this is hot.    As long as easy interest does not exist   there will be a substitute for investers .
44469  Economy / Economics / Re: Are terms pyramid scheme and ponzi scheme misused? on: November 25, 2013, 03:46:21 AM

The price of Bitcoin is going up because Bitcoiners are pumping it to get more and more new participants to enter. The media is not helping the situation either with their report of skyrocketing prices. This should be a clue for some people that the Bitcoin scheme is a pyramid scheme.

As you state that Bitcoin can work with no new participants. Can it work?
Let's do a thought experiment.

Assuming:
No new coin creation, it stops now
12 million total BTC supply and it's fixed at 12 million
1 million Bitcoiners

Looking at BTC Distribution.
the Pharaoh (Satoshi) 3m BTC 25%
early adopters, ruling class Lords (~100 people) 2m BTC 17%
early adopters, ruling class Governors (~2000 people) 1m BTC 8%
early adopters, elite class (~15000 people) 1m BTC 8%
.... it gets granular as we go down, but let's lump the rest together
late adopters, working and slave class (~980000 people) BTC 5m 42%

This is a rough estimate distribution from Bitcoin supply issuance scheme and early adopters were few, maybe under 20000 people.
Teleport the one million Bitcoiners to planet BitEarth.

On BitEarth, let's simplified things and condense time so we can get a better visual. The basic principle is the same.
One generation is one year and population growth doubles every year. Die-offs after 3 generations.

Year - Population
1 - 1m
2 - 2m
3 - 4m
4 - 7m (1m die-off)
5 - 12m (2m die-off)
6 - 20m (4m die-off)

Since money supply is fixed at 12 million BTC, as population grows economic activity grows, the money supply can be increased by moving the decimal point, 0.01 (year 1), 0.001 (year 2) and so on. Over subsequent generations, the wealth gaps incremental widens more and more. The slave class where the majority resides have the widest gap between the ruling class.

This is not how a fair monetary system can possible work.
I hope people can see why the Bitcoin scheme is a pyramid scheme.

wow and if my grandmother had testicles she would be my grandfather.

dude you have the great gift of imagination I love it.  While I think BTC has lots of long term problems  your example is Huh??

can BTC last forever no it can't , but it can last until 2025 maybe 2030.     So i am taking profits as I type are you?

44473  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Scammers on Ebay on: November 25, 2013, 03:04:42 AM
Why would people bother trying to scam through eBay.  I'll admit ignorance when it comes to online market place rules/regulation.  Are their funds cleared immediately upon receiving payment?

Okay I have been working with ebay a long time.  plenty of buyers and sellers scam.    here is a buyer scam..

they game and burn up a  hd7970 video card..  they go to ebay  buy a good used card from me   in 20 days they say my card is bad.  ebay has a 45 day buyer protection ..    as a long time seller  of over ten years.  I want to stick around    I may have to eat that dead card he sends back.  with a video card there are serial numbers so I can discourage a bad buyer by showing video card serial numbers.

here is a sale I did  notice clear serial numbers to hopefully prevent a fake return

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=151149114301

I can't do this with most asics.  so asic returns happen more often then you like..

on the bad seller   .. they can get a loan for free… they sell a high end item   a 500 apple gift card.  they say to you the buyer.  I can not ship it until the monday after thanksgiving.  they put it up for sale on weds before thanksgiving.   so weds thur fri sat sun  then on monday  they buy postage give  a tracking number mail an empty letter to you.  with the address fucked up.  you may have to wait a week more to put in a claim…  so   you are talking 11 or 12 days before a report.  he held the 500 used it.  may pay it back right a way.    or he may just disappear  and ebay will  pay you the buyer in 2 more weeks… you 500 will be gone for 20-26 days.

Many other scams from buyers and sellers.   Have to say it helped me in the btc world  since I am used to dealing with bad guys on ebay.   I would say ebay has 1 in 20 bad apples so to speak.

You don't pay $175 fee... the fee is taken off the total pool earnings before distribution.  See the R9-R12 thread as well as others, many of us are getting paid.

I get paid online one time? Or this is a lifetime "quota"?
I gonna take a look in the R9-R12 thread.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0ArdD1NXRwJNSdGxRQ0oyX29XbjlsYVZFMEx5bEJPUXc&usp=sharing

You will get the payouts as long as the machines are mining (if they are sold the selling price will be included in the last payout)

And why the machines are sold? Members interest?

Machines are sold to make money.  For the buyers.  The guys running the coop are also looking to make.   These types of buys spread risk around rather then buying one thing and hoping you get it.

The track record for the coop is as follows:

r1-r4  stalled a loss so far.
r5-r6   most likely the best btc group buy of all time
r7-r8?   not late not early do not know
r9-r12    very good should be a solid winner
r13       cancelled refunds paid   delayed not cancelled my bad
r14       cancelled refunds paid
r15      a bit late  KNC will ship we hope
r16      also a bit late KNC will ship we hope
r17     ongoing
r18     waiting for gear not late.

So  of 18 rounds

4 losses so to speak
2 great wins
4 wins
2 cancelled 1 cancelled
2 a bit late  3 a bit late
4 waiting for results   of which 17 is the only open buy.

I have shares in 1 5 6 9 10 11 12 and 17

bitmain has scored on his second auction  30 large units at about 5 btc = 150 btc or 120,000 usd.  my guess is he wants to keep his business in the 180gh units.

my guess is the usb sticks may never be available as long as he keeps getting  5 btc/4150.00usd  for a 180gh unit…

knc sold  550gh units for 5000usd.  bitmains markup on the 180gh units means he won't have to spend time selling sticks.  not your fault cxboyminer just  a simple  business move on bitmain's part.  oh well

todays auction

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=344948.0

more like 149 btc for 30 units or 4.98btc a unit

correction  this was a uniform price auction so the price was 4.75 btc each  not 4.98 btc average  that is 142.375 btw for 30 units close to 116000 usd for all 30 close to 3900 each

many positive feedbacks.

 no negative feedbacks.
