441  Economy / Speculation / Re: Was that the bottom ? on: March 02, 2015, 06:43:06 PM
Resurrecting my old thread. The thesis that this was the bottom is still valid.

Heres an interesting idea, borrowed from someone on tradingView (sorry can't remember the username offhand will try and find it), Here is the bottom viewed upside down making it look like a top

Is this a bubble bottom ??

Start stacking, this is the accumulation time
I'm pretty much loaded to the max already.
I also went margin long at 220 with a few coins.
Now I'm just enjoying the ride Smiley
442  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When did you get into BTC and why? on: March 01, 2015, 12:18:28 PM
Well i  got introduced into Litecoin first and from there I came across bitcoin, and got to know it was the main digital cryptocurrency first released.

Wow, another amazing story Smiley

I could never imagine that someone heard about an alt before they heard about bitcoin.

Wow, 8000 coins dumped in 30 minutes.
There are some real kamikaze bears trying to get their shorts covered lower.

Lol, they'll fail.

Love it when you see so much denial among the bears.

I'm using VPN anonymizers for years now and VPN is a service which usually has to be paid.
To expose as less as possible, I used to pay the VPN anonymously with a voucher which I purchased either on the gas station or in the kiosk using cash.

One day I wanted to extend the VPN membership because it was to expire again. I went to a kiosk and asked for the voucher, same procedure like all the years ago. This time the assistant was picking up paper and pen, started to ask me for my full name and address which should be verified of course. I refused and left, moving to the next shop but everyone refused me to hand out a voucher without my full details.

Later on, I tried several mobile phone shops and computer stores instead, close to nobody knew what I was talking about when mentioning the voucher. After walking a marathon lasting two days, I had luck in an small ancient dithy&messy looking second hand mobile phone shop. He finally handed out the voucher without checking my identity, he even didn't asked for, finally!

In the evening after extending my membership I logged in to my standard chat and had a talk about my great journey and the disturbing development everything being registered and logged. A privacy enthusiast replied, these vouchers are "dead" right now due to new regulation, I should start to use bitcoin and buy the bitcoins with cash either on a bitcoin conference or by arranging a face to face meeting.

Thats how I started with bitcoins. The next extension of my VPN membership was paid just with bitcoin.

That's a very nice story from someone who was not financially motivated but did it because of it's properties!

As you know the size of OP_return of a transaction is only 40 byte (in the future will be "rise" to 80 byte) so you can't put as much word, but you can put an hash of a file that you own (for prove that idea/file is yours).

Instead of putting the hash of a file into the OP_RETURN, you can also use the hash of a file as a public key instead (like www.proofofexistence.com)
What would be the benefit to put it in the OP_RETURN?
Knowing the address for repetitive signing . Wink

Could you elaborate?
In both instances you know the address no?

I got in Q4/2013. Since then been repurchasing.
Reason why I got in was to become millionaire.

Even in Q4/2013 it was impossible to accumulate 1 million bitcoin ever again.
Did you really think you would be able to back then?

No i mean I want to become dollar millionaire.
Maybe 20 bitcoin will be enough to be dollar millionaire in 10 years?

There is only one reply possible:

449  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Pruning OP_RETURNs with illegal content on: February 28, 2015, 12:41:10 PM
All due respect Peter, but being concerned about having illegal data in a system is not absurd

I'm not Peter, but yes it absolutely is absurd.  What is legal is constantly changing and has thousands of different definitions depending on where you happen to be.

The whole point of Bitcoin is technology that works across all borders and allows for consensus everywhere, irrespective of borders and man-made laws.  If you don't like some of the data that gets stored on your computer, you are free to delete it.  But yes, full nodes must keep all data passed to them.  That's how the system works.  It's *good* it works that way.

Yes tools that enable free speech also allow bad guys to say bad things, but having free speech guaranteed by technology is worth that price.  Tor is valuable even if it allows pedos to set up hidden services.  PGP is valuable even if it means the terrorists can plan things.  Bitcoin is valuable even if it means nodes get passed data they don't approve of.  The benefits of these technologies far outweight these concerns, and their preservation is of the utmost importance, far outweighing the concern for the bad things bad people do with them.  Robbers and kidnappers use cars and phones to do the bad things they do -- but would you think it's appropriate that the government should monitor where you go and who you call to make sure that you don't engage in that activity?

There is no tool that only does good things for good people.  There are only tools.  We accept that some tools make life easier for bad people, because they also make life so much better for good people.  Having phones and cars... and Tor and PGP and Bitcoin, is better than a world without those things.  And talking about crippling them so that their bad uses are harder does nothing but cripple the entire system, and subverts the entire point of the technology.

There is no phone that can only be used by good people.  And there is no distributed consensus system that can take any kind of data except illegal data.  And to talk about such a thing is silly... but to *want* such a thing is absurd.

Yes, it is absurd.

There should be an upvote or karma button on this forum.
Or otherwise a bitcoin voting system something.

I like your post. I would upvote.
450  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Pruning OP_RETURNs with illegal content on: February 28, 2015, 12:37:57 PM
Just researching another possible threat.
What if an individual who is angry at Bitcoin for whatever reason tries to insert some illegal content into blockchain?

The funny thing is, bitcoin doesn't give a f*ck about rules or law.
Bitcoin doesn't 'know' what is illegal or not.
So, it doesn't matter.

I would like to invite anybody to put as much 'illegal' zeros and ones into the blockchain as possible.
I'm pretty sure that bitcoin will live on like nothing really happened.

Isn't it great?

I got into btc a while ago. I was watching a live stream  starring keemstar and he was bitcoin gambling. He was playing at casino called bitcoinvideocasino and he hit 5 wilds on the slots and he was jumping and yelling out 15 BITCOIN 15 BITCOIN  Cheesy. I was so confused intill they converted the funds it was 5,131$. Then I got really interested knowing the value. Well that's how I got into bitcoin..

cheers

Here is the video its a must watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RqVAp67RyLo

Gee what a moron.
Video looks also fake, but I have a mental disorder seeing everything as fake so don't mind my opinion.

Anyway, if i saw that video for the first time, I would not have developed an interest in bitcoin, no I think I would have rejected bitcoin because I saw that moron for the first time in connection with bitcoin.

No, I hate fiat and try to convert as much of it into bitcoin and hope to never have to deal with euros ever again in my life.
That's my goal.

All people who 'invest' in bitcoin to earn dollars or euros are a bunch of morons in my opinion.
Yes, i did trade some, but only to get more bitcoins.

The moment I got rid of some coins was when I spent them on goods (beer/food/electronics).
I do not regret that I spent them, I made sure that I bought them back the next day for stinking fiat.

Why hate fiat that bloody much?

Because it is evil.
There are mofos who can legally counterfeit it.
It is like stealing your lifeblood, your energy.
It's a parasite in disguise.
Every finite form of money is one gazillion times better than fiat.

Quote
Although I don't like fiat currencies as well, but I really think that you're being a bit extreme here.

Yes I am.
And I don't care.

I managed to de-attach from the mental fiat enslavery and switched it for bitcoin enslavery.
Feels much much better.

Quote
So you basically use bitcoins to buy everything now? Huh

No, rarely.
And if i spend them I make sure i buy them back the day after.

453  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When did you get into BTC and why? on: February 27, 2015, 11:58:46 PM

I got my first bitcoins exactly 2 years and 1 day ago.
I actually celebrated my bitcoin birthday yesterday. Wink

I actually forgot to tell why I got into bitcoin.

Well, I heard about it somewhere around 2012 but thought it was funny money.
I read some news items about bitcoin a few times and still thought it was funny money.
Then early 2013 I read a news article about Mega.co.nz accepting bitcoin for payments.

I took exactly 10 days to read everything about bitcoin and become convinced and bought some (CHEAP!) coins.

Since then it's all unicorns

Ohh.... So you are one of those who found it earliey

No, I found it in 2013, four years too late.

Quote
and made a lot of money...

Define money.
Bitcoin, gold and oil you can call money.
Dollars and euro's are currency.

If you read carefully I only bought and never really sold.
You can call me a bag holder.
I'm not in this game to 'make money'. I'm in this game to spend it sometimes, for real stuff like goods and services.

Or do you want to kill yourself because you did not buy enough and sold at 1k$+ in Dec 2013.

Bitcoin will never become worthless for me because it learned me the most important lessons of my life.
It doesn't matter if someone is willing to trade them for goods and services one day, I already got some priceless knowledge due to bitcoin.

Hahah

That is awesome.
How was that celebrated?
Lived off BTC the whole day?

No, just prayer and meditation.

Hey Bitcoin talk.

So... As the title says.. How did you get into this wonderful world?

I made my first investment back in November 2013 into Goldcoin.
I invest around 20$ of BTC into it, and I managed to pump the value of it from 0.0053$ to 0.18$ that I sold at.
Which gave me 666.666$ profit... Such a funny number when you think about it! xD

It was not my intention to pump it like that, but I had no knowledge of the cryptoworld.

I was argueing with some users from the GLD community and I was pissed, so I sold out and the days after it crashed hard in price.

I was hooked when I got that big of a profit.

Thats how I got in.

What about you?

457  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: BitcoinWisdom.com - Live Bitcoin/LiteCoin Charts on: February 27, 2015, 03:12:11 PM
I have another suggestion for the lovely bitcoinwisdom.

Now trades are formatted like this:

Code:
16:03:53     254.48     2.5
16:03:49     254.49     67.4716
16:03:46     254.6      0.21

It is easier to see the difference in volume when it's formatted like this:

Code:
16:03:53     254.48      2.5
16:03:49     254.49     67.4716
16:03:46     254.6       0.21

458  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: An easy way to remember a bitcoin address on: February 24, 2015, 08:56:36 AM
i think someone should start a service where someone can store their bitcoin address online and get a personalized short link that they can open anywhere and get the address they stored there

That's called DNS, I just proposed it.
It already exist.

To make it decentralized, integrate the DNS into bitcoin, or use another alt (namecoin?)
459  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: An easy way to remember a bitcoin address on: February 24, 2015, 08:48:06 AM
Couldn't we just use the existing DNS for this purpose?
Let's connect whatever public address to your email address!

Then people are able to pay to your email address instead.
It's also much easier to change the underlying public address into a new one.

TL;DR

You really should try to make your statements shorter so that people will actually read them, no offend.
