441  Other / Meta / Re: HOW CAN A MEMBER GAIN MERIT FROM THIS FORUM on: February 06, 2019, 05:42:04 PM
I remember those good old days when you can gain merit from this forum by making 30 posts as a newbie.

You mean "activity".  Roll Eyes
You are definitely an account farmer, because the old days that you are talking about were before January 24, 2018 (that is when the Merit system was introduced), while your account (this one) was created on July 21, 2018, and yet you say, "I remember those good old days......." which means that you were there in those old days, farming accounts and earning money by selling them time to time. And now when the Merit system is there, you are not being able to farm accounts anymore, and that is what concerns you. Otherwise, you wouldn't have cared, and if you were really to make any efforts, you would have definitely learnt about the systems in here by now.  Roll Eyes
442  Other / Meta / Re: Can users be banned for using known English proverbs and sayings? on: February 05, 2019, 05:26:06 PM
I don't believe someone would/should get banned for that.
There are always ways of putting something like that in your text, which would generally specify that you are not trying to convey it as your own, but maybe you don't know the original author of it, or from where it has come since it is so general, and famous too. For example:

1. If using a famous quote:
.... as it is said, "If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough.".....

Now in this case, it is obvious, and the reader should probably understand that I'm not trying to use that quote as my own, but I just don't remember the author, nor I need to mention it if I'm saying it in that way, and I don't deserve a ban for plagiarism for doing this.

2. If using a proverb/saying:
... as they say, "Better late than never.".....

It is obvious again, that I'm referring to a general proverb/saying that everyone use, and I'm not trying to make it look like my own. So, I'm not plagiarizing, hence, no ban deserved.

~~

Though I totally agree with what you said, but to be honest, it is not really possible to be done by everyone living in any corner of the world. There are still countries where Bitcoin is not so general among the general public, which doesn't make it possible for even a small retailer to accept it since they won't do it if you are the only customer for them to pay in Bitcoin. It wouldn't be of help that way. Who (possessing Bitcoins) doesn't want to have a place around where they can buy something paying with Bitcoins? But again, it is not yet possible for some people to get this to happen. In my case, since I know that not a lot of people around me know about Bitcoin in general, I feel uncomfortable in asking to pay with Bitcoin, because I know it would be awkward if they don't even know about it.

445  Other / Meta / Re: Does forum has mission, vision and core values? on: February 03, 2019, 04:31:29 PM
Others had talk about the forum for cryptocurrency discussions

Who does 'Others' refer to? Do you mean people in general? I don't really understand what is your confusion in this since this forum is all (or mostly) about cryptocurrencies and their discussions. Have you really surfed the forum yet? Thoroughly? I assume you didn't, otherwise THIS question would've automatically been answered if you did that.

and earning profit by any form of.bounty hunting

That is an optional/additional thing and isn't something the forum was fundamentally created for. As soon as the forum became too populated, it started to attract advertisers, and those bounties/campaigns are the results of that.

and even sometimes scamming other users.

That is a shameful act, but not a way of earning. Bad things exist, not only in this forum, but everywhere you go.

But does forum has mission, vision or and core values?

The mission/vision is to provide information to everyone about Bitcoin or cryptocurrencies in general, and the purpose is served very well, if someone have the ability to absorb it. Otherwise, if someone is not interested in learning, he would find it to be useless.

Do we have an approach to grow users here in the forum and spreading positivities about cryprocurrency? Just asking..

What kind of an approach do you expect? Do you want theymos to record motivational speeches and broadcast them in the forum in order to spread positivity and grow the users?  Roll Eyes  Tongue
We don't need anything else. The ones who really reaches the forum for the purpose of learning about cryptocurrencies in general would not require any approach, but would adapt the things and would stay around to get even more, and the ones who find the forum to be only a source of income would never really care about anything else that exists in here. So we are all good, I guess.
446  Other / Meta / Re: 250 profiles merited (by me) in 1 hour and 2 minutes – What’s got over me? on: February 03, 2019, 04:09:58 PM
I think I'll also need to take out some time and do something like that to empty my sMerit's wallet since I'm mostly busy with my studies these days and I rarely get enough time to surf almost all the sections/boards/threads to see quality posts and merit them. I don't really have that much (got about 44 or something), and I haven't really been a very quick meriter in the past since I'm very choosy about which posts should I merit. I'll try to go for a hunt some day just like you and hopefully exhaust my sMerit's wallet in a good way.

P.S: I think I'm one of the 250 people you've chosen to Merit since I received a Merit from you for quite an old post.

It's a good idea to share a little merit for those who are still at BTT. I support your idea and will wait for this merit. Thank you for donating merit

Don't wait for 'this merit' to come to you. There are no donations going on in here. He has Merited posts that are of quality by searching for them based on the criterias he mentioned in the post. Learn to read first of all, and don't post if you don't really understand what is being said. The 'it's a good idea' kind of stuff belongs to Altcoins Announcements threads, not here.
447  Other / Meta / Re: The clubroom - another radical idea from Jet Cash on: February 01, 2019, 06:41:36 PM
Will those 12 legendary members be hired as full-time moderators for that board? Sounds like a lot of workload considering the number of members we have on the forum and assuming by that the traffic this new board is going to get. It wouldn't be possible to be well-moderated unless the moderators are working full-time on it leaving all other things they have going on.
448  Other / Meta / Re: I locked my beginners price discussion thread, on: January 31, 2019, 06:09:31 PM
I wanted to start a topic for beginners, and to help them to learn a bit about Bitcoin price movements, and it seemed to start reasonably well. However it has been moved onto the speculation board, and I think this is a spammers board and I have it on ignore, so I will not be revisiting the thread.

Unignore the board, create another thread in self-moderated mode, delete every single spam that comes your way in your thread, and keep doing what you want.
You don't really need to visit anything outside your thread in that board if you think that the board is full of spammers. Just open your thread, do your work, and get out of the board without paying any attention to the other threads that bother you.
449  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestion: length limitation to trust ratings on: January 31, 2019, 06:00:59 PM
Limiting the characters would be enough. Maybe something like 200 characters maximum for one feedback. A feedback is not supposed to tell the complete story behind it, but it should only summarize it so that a person can understand what it states, and if someone finds the need to say more about it, then they should simply write the full story in a text editor, take a snapshot of it and post the link to it in the feedback.
This would probably reduce the feedback spamming that happens right now.

Seems it is for sale. The price is $2,950. Who would pay that much to buy a domain?  Undecided

I don't know if just wrapping up a text in quotation marks without mentioning the source makes it plagiarized or not, and if it is the reason for why you got banned, but you did it. See below:

Plagiarized:
"High-profile strategic partnerships could be the key to injecting enthusiasm back into the ICO ecosystem."

Original:
High-profile strategic partnerships could be the key to injecting enthusiasm back into the ICO ecosystem.
453  Other / Meta / Re: Daily quiz on: January 29, 2019, 05:21:06 PM
I don't know if the peeps are really getting the point here since a lot of them are repeating the same thing in their replies that it would be abused, or there shouldn't be such a giveaway etc. That is not what OP is trying to say here (if I'm understanding correctly). The point of doing this would only be to encourage people to take part in a poll, and search for the correct answers of it, which would eventually increase their knowledge. There wouldn't/shouldn't be any rewards for answering (correctly). If someone is getting a bit knowledge out of it, there is no harm in it.

More knowledge = better post quality.
454  Other / Meta / Re: Account ban on: January 29, 2019, 05:09:17 PM
This is so insignificant violation that I still can not understand how for this you can get a permanent ban. If you think that for such an error you can expel a person from the forum that has been on it for more than a year, you are strange ...

There is nothing insignificant or strange in this. Though I'm not actually sure if the reason for your ban is what you are calling a mistake, but if that is true, then here is what could've happened:

klkentkl got banned before you (probably for plagiarism, though I couldn't manage to find any proof since it is an headache to surf over 165 pages of bounty reports in order to find a plagiarized post). And then you used the social accounts that he (klkentkl) has been using, to submit some reports, which technically makes you the alt of that guy, or him yours (doesn't matter, actually). Now, if you have already read the rules and know about them, then you should know that there is a rule about ban evasion (Rule No. 25 in Unofficial list of (official) Bitcointalk.org rules, guidelines, FAQ) which is, that a person whose one account is banned from the forum is not allowed to create and use another account. The only thing that person can do with the newly created (or the other) account is to open a ban appeal and only post in that thread.

Moral of the story: You used another user's social accounts, and it made you look like it is an alt account of yours. When that guy got banned and you were still posting, you were found to be guilty of ban evasion hence getting you banned as well.

P.S: What I said is only what might have happened, and is solely based on assumptions. There is no solid proof of this as of now except for the posts that Veleor has brought up.
455  Other / Meta / Re: Account ban on: January 29, 2019, 01:32:31 PM
it seems to be true. I did not replace it with my own social networks, when I took someone else’s report as a template for my own. Was not attentive.

Lol! Seriously? And you didn't realize it even after posting it? Or even later sometime? Don't you look at your post once it is posted? I thought you guys (bounty hunters) were very cautious about these things since their earnings are dependent on these reports and all, and you are making an excuse of posting someone else's credentials by mistake.

But really for this you can get a ban forever !!! Huh

Yes, you do. Read the rules and obey them if you don't want to face any negative consequences of your actions.
456  Economy / Reputation / Re: Alt of DuckDice.io which was tagged for scam on: January 28, 2019, 05:59:28 PM
I have temporarily tagged a guy. Din not check red tag of OP and escrow, even never bother to read his previous reply. Peoples withdrawn application and there is already warning by other member but he is applying. I will remove tag when he will come here and remove signature. How fool are peoples even don't read anything, just applying like blind. I have given there a warning post, lets see peoples see or not.

I totally disagree with such behavior by a DT member. Trust system is not to be used like that. You are not supposed to tag a guy who only applies for a signature campaign by wearing their signature without noticing or missing a few things that make the campaign shady or untrustworthy. If you are ready to remove the red tag once they remove the signature, then simply wait for sometime and then tag them if they continue their activities with the signature on.
And besides, how come did you manage to notice a guy in the signature thread not removing the signature and tagged him but you didn't bother to tag the person who agreed to escrow the funds for a campaign that is run by a website which is (probably) a scam? I don't see your tag on notaek's profile, nor marlboroza's, since both of you along with Lauda, yahoo (explained above why he didn't tag notaek, yet) and klaaas have tagged the OP of that signature thread.

458  Other / Meta / Re: [NEW and updated] LoyceV's Weekly Trust list overview in Human Readable Format on: January 26, 2019, 03:22:11 PM
Good work!

Boring layout
I'm not much of a designer, but I'm open to suggestions.

You don't really need to do a lot of CSS designing on it because it would take a lot of time and it isn't really a necessity since the only purpose of this is to provide information which it already does, but I would like to suggest a small thing, which you may implement if you like to.

Maybe removing the underlines from the links would make the list look somehow better for the eyes of the navigator. It would be easier to spot names when scrolling if there aren't underlines (I can be wrong though).

This is how the list looks right now:

This is what I'm suggesting:

It isn't difficult to implement. All you need to do is to add an internal CSS style tag, and then set the text-decoration property of all anchor elements (links) of the page to none. Below is how to do it:

Code:
<style>
* a {
text-decoration: none;
}
</style>

Add this code inside the head tag of the page, and it would do the work for you.

Note: Mind the color change of the texts in the suggestion image. It is because I clicked the links and their state changed from link to visited (link and visited are link states in HTML).
459  Other / Meta / Re: Signature advertisers: suggestions? on: January 24, 2019, 11:55:00 AM
Few additional suggestion.
3. Individual not having gained a single merit in last 120 days will get signature disabled.
....
5. Paid option if somebody do not have merit.

These two suggestions are totally contradicting each other. What would be the use of the ban for not earning Merits in 120 days if a user can have the ban lifted by paying for it? It wouldn't reduce any spam in that way, since we all know how much money those spammers earn by spitting out crap all over the forum, and it wouldn't be a hurdle for them to get their signature bans lifted by paying a small amount.

I can't wait myself to get to Sr. member now. It is really a great feeling when you rank up earning all the required Merits by your efforts.
