461  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Was this forum always like this? on: April 07, 2014, 06:42:42 PM
About 3 months ago, when you started, the Altcoin subforum had pretty much already gone to shit.

Prior to about November of 2013, it was a much cooler place to hang out.  New coin ANN's were much less frequent, and there were far fewer trolls.

Personally, I think it's all DOGE's fault.  DOGE taught the world that a cute, catchy name & meme and nothing else can become a wildly popular coin.  It sorta opened the floodgates for shitcoins to start pouring in like crazy.

It actually used to be worse.  You should have seen it before they banned the giveaway/promo threads.  Holy hell.

464  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] yes! another scrypt coin, Created by you! on: April 04, 2014, 04:38:57 PM
I would be happy to setup a pool for this coin at launch, I'll try to keep an eye on this thread, but please PM me once you've got everything decided.

I can do scrypt, sha256d, scrypt-N, probably X-11 as well but I may need some time to figure that one out as I have not setup an X-11 pool yet

As far as the coin specs go, here are my opinions:

- I dig the traditional scrypt algo, or maybe scrypt-N, not a huge fan of X-11
- 1 minutes block times for fast transactions
- Something around 40 confirmations for newly minted blocks, nice compromize between security and getting your mining rewards quickly so you can spend/trade them
- I am not to keen on KGW as the diff algo, it's not nearly as good as everyone thinks it is, especially on coins with lowish network hashrates (less than 1GH or so).  DigiShield seems pretty solid but I don't know enough about the technical details to "endorse" it or not.
- Total coins 250 million.  I don't really have any reasoning behind this other than the fact that most coins released these days with a large # of total coins (1billion or more) seem to be destined to die in the litoshi market

what exactly is  hardfork? will our coins be intackt?

Yes, if it comes to a hard fork, all coins will be just fine. There will be advance notice given to exchanges (so they can halt trades), and the only difference the average user will notice is that they will have to download a new wallet.

I can assist with setting up a new permanent seed node if needed, just PM me when ready

POOL FOR MATRIXCOIN
STRATUM and VARDIFF
1% FEES To Keep The Pools Running
80% OF THE BLOCKS
8THashes
SING UP RELAX AND ANJOY WE DO THE REST FOR YOU

I'm sure you are excited to have, literally, 100% of the network hashrate right now, but what you should really be doing is stop advertising and disable new registrations until the network is better distributed.  You could easily cause a fork in the coin.

http://mtx.pitythepool.com is up and running, wallet code fixed to display network hashrate and est. next difficulty numbers on the dashboard.  I will leave my 600GH on this pool until a few more miners jump on so we can continue finding blocks.

Coin never reached 0.001? I had a buy order at 0.0001, but I see it was never filled, and now coin is going back up!  Shocked

AIR was very promising at exchange launch, it actually seemed pretty stable at 0.002-0.0025 for a few days, then began a pretty solid decline.

We are all hopeful that Alexander and team will chime in next week

mine is synched.. and blocks counting but no minted coins or on stake Smiley

Mine is sorta sync'd - wallet shows green checkbox, but Help --> Debug Window shows some funky stuff.  At the moment, "Current number of blocks" shows 26114 which matches http://explorer.shacoin.co/, but the "Estimated total blocks" number is all over the place from minute to minute, sometimes reading as low as 17,xxx

I let my client sit overnight, still showed the green checkbox at all times, so it looked synchronized, but after awhile, the "current number of blocks" stopped incrementing, or sometimes even started going down.  Definitely some wacky stuff going on here.

I suggest everyone who thinks their wallet is synchronized check the "Current number of blocks" from Help --> Debug Window and make sure it matches http://explorer.shacoin.co.  You may not be as sync'd as you think.

I could get someone to recompile the windows QT again and see if it will fix the syncing issue.  I'll put up the 500k bounty.

I have a wallet working fine for a day and a half on one windows 7 and on another windows 7, can't get the wallet to sync no matter what I try...

-tb-

I cannot believe I did not notice this until now - the version number never changed when the new wallet was released.  Help --> Debug Window still shows client version v1.0.0.0-SHA

This may be the source of nearly all of the sync problems.  I have seen this be the cause of many, many forks in the past.  Incrementing the version number on *any* release that results in changes to the way the block chain is handled must increment the version number.  It's how the clients know which chain they need to be on, and which nodes to ignore on the network.

I have no idea what updates were included in the new wallet.  If it was just a logo change or something simple like that, ignore this post.  If the update resulted in *any* changes to the way transactions are handled, difficulty is adjusted, POS minting algorithm - basically, anything that might affect the way data is written to or read from the block chain - the source needs to be updated, new clients distributed with a higher version number than before.  Not sure what other repercussions this may have since it's been running this way for so long now.

??

What? 3 web sites and everyone doing their own thing doesnt make sense? Imagine that...

Just reporting that the original domain name is now functioning again, this is and should be the official website.

When Motd2k took it down a couple weeks back, I registered arrcoin.com so the we could at least have a working website.  Recently, Motd2k transferred this domain to me, just letting everyone know it's back online now.

For those of you still having wallet sync issues, I was able to resolve (I think) with the following steps.  My transaction containing purchased coins from CryptoAltEx has confirmed as well, so my previously "lost" coins are back in my balance.

1.  Make a copy of your wallet.dat file in %appdata%\SHAcoin  --> Important!  Remember where the copy is!
2.  Delete *ALL* contents of %appdata%\SHAcoin except for SHAcoin.conf
4.  Make sure your SHAcoin.conf contains these three nodes only:
Code:
addnode=142.54.179.178
addnode=23.88.228.99
addnode=198.98.120.30
5.  Start shacoin-qt and wait for it to sync.  Your balance will show zero coins, but don't freak out - you made a copy of your wallet.dat in step 1 right?   It make take awhile, it may look like it's stuck for awhile, but mine did eventually sync.  This will create a new, empty wallet.dat in your %appdata%\SHAcoin folder
6.  After successful sync, check Help --> Debug Window and make sure the "Current number of blocks" matches the "block count" at http://explorer.shacoin.co
7.  Shutdown shacoin-qt
8.  Copy your wallet.dat, from Step 1, back into your %appdata%\SHAcoin folder and overwrite the existing wallet.dat
9.  Restart shacoin-qt, go to Help --> Debug Window --> Console and type repairwallet
10.  It may give you a message about "mismatched spent coins" or something else - this is OK, your wallet is being fixed Smiley

The steps above got my wallet to show the green checkbox, recovered all my "lost" coins back into my balance, and I am now minting POS blocks, however, all previously minted POS blocks appear to be orphaned (after all the dicking around with getting the wallet to sync on the right chain, I have hundreds of orphaned POS blocks now)

there is not wallet to download all give errors and now I have all my hexcoins in cryptorush.in that has been hacked and people are getting all their coins from there but I can not take my hexcoin from cryptorush because there is not other exchange available for hex and there is not wallet working for this coin! Please advise how can I get my coins out from cryptorush?

Please can you answer me , I need to get my money out of cryptorush and I don't know how to do it

I am not sure if it is possible to withdraw coins from Cryptorush anymore. Can someone confirm successful withdrawal?

I have successfully withdrawn most of my altcoins, including HEX, but BTC and LTC withdrawals do *not* work

This is the reason why nearly all altcoin prices on Cryptorush are 30-50% higher than everywhere else.  If you have alot of BTC on CryptoRush, only way to get it out is to sell for something else, transfer to another exchange, and trade there for BTC.  It's driving up the price of everything on CryptoRush.
477  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AIRcoin on: March 31, 2014, 06:34:02 AM
Anything interesting happening?  Huh

I don't think TeamAirCoin are quite out of this yet.

I keep seeing 0.2 BTC buys show up 1-3 orders down from the top of the buy list, trying to prop up the price.  Volume is low enough now, that less than 0.2 BTC or less can buy up the market price by 50% at pretty much any given time.  I see this happening - sell price gets down to 0.00015ish, some "big" (big=0.2btc) buys come up and snatch up all the sell orders, bringing the price back up to 0.00024ish.

I am guessing Alexander and his team are refining/testing their trading bots now, where they can do so with far less BTC/AIR to risk, since the trade volume is so low.  I will keep my miners on AIR for another week probably, if there is no news here from TeamAirCoin, I will assume this coin to be done.

Announcing the "failure" may have been a fallback mechanism for them, to reduce trading volume, where they could slowly build up more BTC reserves and "relaunch" with better results.

Or I could be completely full of shit . . . just speculating Smiley

Thanks.. the 2 you posted seemed to do the trick. Riddle me this.. why do most all of the new coins coming out have this sync problem? I've got wallets/coins that don't even have a .conf and work just fine. To me it appears to be either sloppy work on the part of the devs or that they just don't know WTF their doing. COMMENTS??

Most coins have this problem because the developers didnt bother to update the DNS seed nodes in the sourcecode.  You saw this problem because the piratecoin.co DNS nodes were taken offline.

If I can find an elegant way of handing over piratecoin.co to the community I will do so.  On the express condition that it's not used in any way to generate goodwill or promote the Pirate 'movement' in any way what-so-ever.  If they want a coin they can create their own, and the rest of the world will continue to not care.

Turn it over to me, then.  I do not, absolutely do not, want Piratecoin to have anything to do with this political "pirate movement" that MyCrotch keeps talking about.  Never heard about them before it was brought up here, and I care even less about it now.

I am already hosting the replacement website http://www.arrcoin.com and http://www.piratecoincrypto.com, as well as the new permanent node listed above.  It would be nice to get the original domain name back online.

finally somebody gets the double meaning of my alias... Grin

ohh and just to be clear I wanted to also give a heads up that a pirate party piratecoin is coming if you like it or not and it's launch will be properly pre-announced so I wish you much luck with your little project here if you want to go about it this way.

I repeatedly stated I was here from the launch and also have a bunch of coins so in my view I was acting in the best interest of all  when I proposed to go with hanks ideas because it's also my best interest and I know what we would be up against if we kept sailing in this direction.

Best of luck, here are some tips for helping you plan a better Pirate Party

Cool

Ive had to delete and re-sync several time now, and every time my minting amount is different.  This would suggest the chain keeps forking, probably due to the speed of minting.  minting needs to slow down similar to how mintcoin has approached minting.

I totally agree, I think this is definitely the problem.  Last time I actually got the wallet to sync, I was generating stake like crazy, 4-5 times per minute.  I can't imagine how many stake blocks must be created on the network with hundreds, maybe thousands of wallets running.
