461  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: | ARDOR | Scalable Blockchain-as-a-Service Platform | Proof of Stake on: August 03, 2018, 03:05:35 AM
At this moment ardor looks like there is no dip and the price will fall forever
Really fed up with this situation
Ardor is definetely good project but definetely not for investors

You do realize that almost the entire crypto market appears that way right now too.

And everything may fall forever... who knows. But eventually the bulls should come out to play again.
462  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Don't buy Bitcoin with alts! on: July 28, 2018, 06:55:48 PM

A lot of people playing the trading game, myself included, simply buy/sell depending on the market.

Altcoin does a pump, sell (which converts to btc).
BTC pumps, alt falls, buy back into alt using btc.

Now if it's a long-term hold on an alt, I agree, sort of risky to sell and hope you get out and back
in at just the right moment. But many alts are considered short-term plays... waiting for a pump/announcement and so on.

Just the way the game is played. Until/if alts disconnect from btc trading entirely, I don't expect it'll change.
463  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: yobit.net Scam or not ? on: July 28, 2018, 06:50:19 PM
Yobit is a pretty bad exchange overall.

Basically it's the exchange you use when trying to dump a little known coin (maybe gotten via airdrop or bounty) and the alternative exchanges (if there are any) are even worse.
464  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will every crypto coin survive? on: July 25, 2018, 06:32:34 PM
Most will of course die off, but it also depends on the definition of 'survive'.

There are some coins, years old, that really were DOA. Yet their blockchains are still chugging
along and folks are trading it. They have no real world usage, yet technically they have survived.
465  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: how to manage losses? on: July 25, 2018, 06:28:20 PM
Remember a loss isn't a loss until you sell. If you believe in the coin, and nothing weird happens (like a developer running away), might as well hold and see how it plays out.

If a short term play, just cut your losses if not too bad. But long term requires patience...
and sort of ignoring prices when a coin is falling.
466  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coins kept in exchange, are they safe? on: July 25, 2018, 04:19:39 AM
The only logical reason to keep coins on an exchange if you plan to sell or trade them.

As a longterm storage solution... they stink.

And even for trading, I wouldn't suggest keeping too many coins on an exchange, just a portion of your holdings. Basically as much as you are okay with potentially losing without feeling like the world is ending on you.
467  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: If your coin increased 40% - 200% in value over night. What would you do? on: July 24, 2018, 08:12:46 PM
Do you continue hodling or sell? A lot of people say to hold no matter what happens and I'm not advocating daytrading but I think in a situation like this, it'd be advantageous to sell.

Thoughts? What would you do?
Do not sell it now. Keep it all up to the end of the year. When btc hits 15k everything will be at the top. That's when you should sell.

The flaw with that thinking is if a coin does the 2x thing, it will drop at least short-term. It's inevitable. Then you'd be better off simply selling and buying back in, and either going with more coins or some profit.

Also no guarantee that if BTC hits 15K, that said alt will retain its value at year's end. BTC doubles and your coins sinks like a stone at the end of the year, it's less profit.

The biggest issue I have when my coins do the big pump thing is the fact that many are flash pumps -- blink and you miss it. So it means guessing at where to set sell orders ahead of time, and odds are they won't be right.
468  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency many coin - v1.10.0 on: July 24, 2018, 08:07:21 PM
If there are really such people, I do not envy them with the purchase of 200 Satoshi. Imagine how difficult and hard it is for them to see the constantly falling market. After all, no one can say exactly when the price will again be at the same height.

I'm not sure I see 200 in this coin's future, or at least not in the near future. 200 was a long time ago though, years ago ... I expect anyone who bought way back then has sold by now. They would have made a nice profit even with doge in the 75-100 range, when BTC was sky-high.
469  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency Will Kill Cash ? Is this True on: July 24, 2018, 06:45:42 PM
Personally I don't think it'll ever kill fiat.

Best to hope for is crypto replacing things like paypal... crypto could be the currency of the internet, if
a good stablecoin comes along.
470  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: what causes the price of crypto down on: July 24, 2018, 06:44:05 PM
Multiple factors -- news, expected news, technical analysis and so on.

Or just figure it's all market manipulation, and forget about trying to figure anything out, and
just go with the flow.
471  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to learn day trading? on: July 24, 2018, 06:37:15 PM
Do the google search and learn about it, as already stated. I would never consider daytrading out of boredom or impatience, however. It's better for those with experience and robot-like emotions.

If tired of holding, just set aside a small amount of btc for regular trading... catch some dumps, buy/sell on news, that sort of thing. It's a lot safer.
472  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ICO Detective Campaign [500 000 tokens reward] on: July 20, 2018, 05:15:10 PM

Anyone likes to investigate and evaluate ICO's? You can now earn income from it.

Read this article on Medium: https://medium.com/@cryptopotential/ico-detective-campaign-500-000-tokens-reward-a57e26e35e10

It would be a quite interesting idea, if it were not for this sentence which I'm quoting from the article:

Quote
To enter the competition you will not have to own millions of coins or tokens, just 10'000 CP tokens ($75 worth) in your Ethereum compatible wallet.

The fact that you have to pay 75$ to take part to this competition is a red flag IMHO.

Just a tad fishy. And the 'reward' of course is only a reward if the price is steady on the detective token.

It's just a unique way of selling their own tokens. I will grant you that they were imaginative about, but still...
basically it's an ICO that most ICO 'detectives' here would say fails their own validity test.
473  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bitcoin price effect on Altcoin on: July 19, 2018, 07:28:06 PM
BTC will influence altcoin prices indirectly, as the markets are all tied together.

Of course it doesn't mean BTC will necessarily outpace a specific altcoin... during a bull market,
quite often the opposite is true. And in a bear market, altcoins may come out of it even worse.
474  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Smart invest on altcoins ? on: July 19, 2018, 07:25:58 PM
Also suggest newcomers avoid ICOs.

Once upon a time, the odds were that good coins running ICOs would inevitably lead to some profit.
But the ICO market has become saturated... golden goose is dead.
475  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you panic? on: July 19, 2018, 07:24:25 PM
The only time to panic is when the news is disastrous.

Coin is an obvious scam, develop runs away with the funds, and so on. Then is may be panic time.

But I wouldn't panic on a good coin that just happens to be at a bad price.
476  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: If your coin increased 40% - 200% in value over night. What would you do? on: July 19, 2018, 07:22:38 PM
The tricky part of this is not if you should sell. If a coin doubles, it's almost always best to sell the majority as there will be fallback.

It's simply catching the rise if it's a quick pump that can be tricky. Unless you have orders set ahead of time, odds are one will miss the huge jump in the first place.
477  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 150 ETH OR 9.5 BTC? on: July 19, 2018, 07:20:11 PM
If it was me, I'd put like half in BTC, some in ETH, rest in various alts.

But I wouldn't put the entire amount into one coin.
478  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency Will Kill Cash ? Is this True on: July 19, 2018, 07:16:34 PM
Don't see cryptocurrency impacting cash that much.

If a good stablecoin comes along, I can see it replacing things like paypal, however... primarily
for internet purchasing.

But that may be a while.
479  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: for 3000$ whats your choice on: July 18, 2018, 06:50:35 PM
I'd go $1500-$2000 in btc and the rest invest in alts... whatever you want.
Ideally look for something with a planned 'event' -- new exchange, coin development,
alpha/beta/final release, that sort of thing.

I wouldn't suggest putting it all into an ICO unless you are okay with losing it all.
480  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency many coin - v1.10.0 on: July 18, 2018, 06:44:10 PM
Anything going on with this to account for the recent spike? Or it is just regular market movement?

I think I have a small amount of doge I mostly have forgotten about on one of my wallets here. It's
just small bitcoin fork coin scraps... easier at the time to move it it out from so-so exchanges in doge rather than btc.
