Also, you could have people help you with these issues if you have lack of resources.

We do not lack resources for the claim process that was outlined.

UPDATE

We are currently developing and preparing the online claim form.
We appreciate your patience as we work with limited resources.
We regret not being able to do more as Instawallet was a free service (zero fees) and could not pay for additional resources.
However, we would like to reassure you that we will have the claims processed in due time, by the end of the initial 90-day period.
The claim form is schedule for delivery by Friday, April 12th.

Given that you have a pool of 42,000 of our BTC how about you put a little more effort in and try and calm some of your customers fears.   Angry

Have you, (or your lawyers), even looked at our questions?

GIVE YOUR CUSTOMERS SOME RESPECT.

Instawallet users benefited from our free service (therefore are not our "customers" strictly speaking, especially if they wanted to stay anonymous) and will be paid back in full.
They trusted us with their bitcoins and their bitcoins are safe.
To hand out those bitcoins to the hacker now would be foolish hence the claim process I described.
I fail to see how we could have lacked respect towards instawallet users.
Any minute we spend responding to infuriated, threatening , sometimes defamatory posts (not yours) or PM on this forum is one less minute we have to clean up after the hack attempt.
Our determination to support bitcoin as a community-run monetary system is stronger than ever in spite of the attacks.

Any particular reason you will not handle claims on an ongoing basis. Did you at all read my post ?

There are absolutely no excuses at this point, your reputation is at stake. Personally, at this point, I will not use or recommend any services that you're involved in.

Watching.
Didi you care to read my point about resources ?
We ran this services at our own expenses and pledged to refund everybody (at least those under 50 BTC: the very few people who stored more will be handled on a case by case basis): what more can we do ?

485  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Davout, the new Pirate@40. Bitcoin-central.com instawallet.org scam in progress on: April 09, 2013, 02:27:15 PM

davout, the owner, just stole everyone's balance on bitcoin-central.com and instawallet.org

This is a false accusation, totally unfounded (no one lost money).

wopwop is a paid troll..

This 90 day limit on claims is bullcrap!!!! The statute of limitations on debtors in most EU countries is at least 6 years. Therefore imposing a 90 limitation on claims is totally illegal. However this is a very mute point because not one ounce of truth has come out of all this shambles as shown in the notices as to the time frame when the site is to be back up.
You must be new here.
Before ranting like that, it does not hurt to read : where did you read in any of the notice that the claim period is limited to 90 days ??

The notice says that we will not pay anyone before a 90 day period has elapsed which has nothing to do with any statute of limitations..
It has everything to do with allowing us to process the claims properly and to avoid paying the hacker.

UPDATE:
We expect to be back online in the next hours.
Please appreciate the fact that we have had to accomplish two tasks in a very short time:
1. reconfigure our servers environment to upgrade the security: this was the cause of the service suspension.
2. thoroughly audit and review a large amount of logs and transaction data to make sure everything was in pristine condition before we display the accounts and allow new transactions again.

The review and audit turned out to be more time consuming than we expected.
Bear in mind that this was no routine since bitcoin-central had run uninterrupted for the past 27 months, i.e since its inception in January 2011.
Again, we thank you for your patience, specially those of you who are sending support messages or are simply not contacting us with inquiries at this time.

What will you do for people that only have the URL, without the btc address associated with that url?

Per my original post, when the claim process starts (hopefully next week), your url will bring up a pre-populated form, including your IW bitcoin address and balance on record.
There will be a warning advising people to not use that bitcoin address anymore.

Leave them fuck around. They all just realized this is the future of money and none of their so-called experts predicted shit. They have been boxed in their own little world of scam and fraud for too long. Now it hits them and they are trying their sly methods of pushing the price down, which will prove to be impossible looking at how valuable Bitcoin is as an asset.

I am honestly laughing my ass off here, watching the self proclaimed experts, bankers and financial guru being completely and utterly owned by Satoshi's invention of Bitcoin. Great show bankers, but we will take it from here  Wink

This.

Not only do the "expert economists" (translation: bank-sponsored economists) fail to predict anything right like dinosaurs failed to see the asteroid, but they have a hard time understanding what bitcoin is because they cannot pidgeonhole it.
As Einstein once said: you do not solve a problem with the brains that created it.

Et dans RFI dans lequel on cite Paymium, Pierre Noizat, mais aussi Paypremium. C'est un bug non?
http://www.rfi.fr/emission/20130404-prochaine-bulle-bitcoin-info-intox

What I would like to know is where is the proceeds of my withdrawal I made on the 29th Mar from Bitcoin-central. If this is an instawallet issue why am I affected?

I am also waiting on a response about this. I have emailed, phoned and Pm'd. No reply as yet.  Angry
I replied to your PM.
Additionnally, I am opening a thread about bitcoin-central resuming services.

Hi

I'm afraid you didn't reply to my question at all.

I understand your claim process for wallets but I asked specifically about money that was sent out of a wallet before the hack.

I am afraid we have more questions than answers at this time: how do we know that your transaction happened "before" the hack ?
We know only for sure that the service suspension happened after the hack.
Until we are sure of that, we need to gather as much information as we can (in the 90 day period).
You will have the opportunity to cryptographically prove the ownership of your wallet but we are going to favor thoroughness and fairness over speed.
496  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Instawallet claim process on: April 05, 2013, 11:30:04 PM
Who was stupid enough to have more than 50 BTC there?
It has nothing to with stupidity: some people are just ....rich, most of them are not stupid.
However Instawallet was certainly not designed to hold the equivalent of over 5000 USD on a single url..

500  Economy / Service Announcements / Bitcoin-central resumes operations on: April 05, 2013, 04:18:54 PM
Dear Bitcoin-central and Paytunia users,

The service was taken offline last Monday, April 1st, to upgrade security after discovering a security breach.
Now that we are finished with the security upgrade, we are going to resume services gradually starting today, April 5th 2013.

As a first step, Bitcoin-Central and Paytunia customers will be able to access their account with their prior login/password to view their balances (BTC, EUR, GBP or USD).
Funds received by bank wire during the service suspension have been credited.
The system will be operating in read-only mode.
All our bitcoin addresses will be changed to new ones (do not send to your old addresses as they will be deprecated).

Tomorrow, April 6th, the next step will be taken with the ability to cancel unexecuted orders.
Because orders could not be cancelled during the suspension of the service, especially sell orders at a price below today's market prices, we will delete pending orders that were created before the suspension of the service that could be executed immediately.
Orders that are more than 20% off the current market prices are not going to be deleted as they are not going to be executed immediately.
Customers will have time to review the order book and decide as to whether to keep or delete these "old" orders.

On Monday, April 8th at 3:00PM CET/Paris Time, full trading will resume with the ability to create and cancel buy and sell orders.
Fiat currency (EUR, GBP or USD) withdraws will be available.

The bitcoin trading platform can be accessed via https://bitcoin-central.net.

Again, we apologize for the service suspension and the inconvenience of having your funds tied up for a week.

With full knowledge of the fact that your funds were held secure in spite of a vicious hacker attack, we thank you in particular, for your continued use the trading platform.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.
