18" and 24". I have found one bad riser card so far. Still having issues with the Mother board though. If i put it in slot 2 and 4 the pc freezes on boot. Still working on it.
EDIT: does it matter if 2.0 or 3.0 usb risers or cable?
Edit 2: Also froze on 5. Just opened a new riser and trying it.

How long are your cables? I've always wondered how long the USB cable could be.
These are the exact ones I use: http://amzn.to/29VglPDI haven't tried any longer, but really 3 feet should be more than enough.  Yup 3 feet is more than enough for me. Just wondering because the cables that come with the risers are so short. Thanks for the link too. |

Ok. Great. Never thought of the usb cable being bad. Gonna try it now. Will post results in about an hour.

I've encountered problems with the USB cables as well - at this point I just buy new cables for them all, not worth screwing with, and I like having the extra length. How long are your cables? I've always wondered how long the USB cable could be. |

Im going to try windows 7 but i think it has to be a riser issue. I pulled the SSD with windows 10 and put it on a known working system. Started up detected all cards and installed all drivers perfect. Mining on that rig with no problems. Idk what the issue is but I even used Tytanics custom Linux OS and still didn't detect the cards. Wouldn't even start most of the time on that machine. I know the OS works because it works on my test rig 100%. So out of 9 rigs I have 7 of the running. Each should have 6 cards yet its like this:
Rig 1- 5 cards
Rig 2- 5 cards
Rig 3- 4 cards
Rig 4- 0 cards
Rig 5- 6 cards
Rig 6- 4 cards
Rig 7- 5 cards
Rig 8- 4 cards
Rig 9- 0 cards
total=33 cards out of 54 working. There is a lot of mining rewards that have been lost due to this issue. Where do you get your risers from? The first batch i got worked perfect but i did notice the design was a bit different on the last 36 i ordered. If its no riser problems then I dont know what to do. I have used 2 brand new BTC boards and 1 new H97. I have switched risers and cards out with no real luck. I had 5 cards up and running after the second Pro was put in unit ran for about 12 hours then crashed. After restart only detected 1 card. After playing around for about 4 hours deleting and installing drivers i anaged to have three cards as stated in another post. All the cards work as I can use one at a time and comes up every time. It seems as if the risers are OK but why not all at the same time. If it was windows issue then this other rig would have had problems. NO?
I've had tons of problems with crappy risers. The last batch that I got I narrowed down to fault USB cables. I don't know how you screw up a USB cable but they were all bad. If you have the USB risers I would recommend moving the 6 USB cables from the 6 card working rig and put them into a 0 working card rig and see what happens. Either that or start disconnecting cards from one of the other rigs to find out which card isn't being recognized and then swapping the riser one piece at a time from one that you know is working until you find the faulty part. |

Feels a bit ... "unfair" to see this topic not getting any replies after the people are picking their lottery tickets.
But , straight to the topic , the last drop in the graph on bwisdom , it is a glitch , miners getting unlucky or it is a really sharp drop driven by miners turning down hardware ?
Miners all over the world are getting their power bills. Most of us get a bill on the same day each month but it could be any day. So a guy in USA gets a bill on July 5 A guy in France gets a bill on July 6 a guy in Eygpt gets a bill on July 7 a guy in Russia gets a bill on July 8 so on and so forth. They look at the bill and see the truth my s-5 is a loser my avalon 4 is a loser. Slowly but surely they are turning off gear. That's funny I got my power bill today and noticed it was much higher than I wanted it to be. The summer rates have kicked in. |

I think the stock PSU on mine is starting to go. This past week the miner just went dead three times. Each time the PSU was turned off. Power cycling the unit would bring it back up for a few hours but then it would shut down again. I down clocked it from 600 to 500 and it was stable for 24 hours at about 2.2th. I have since upped it to 550@2.5th and knock on wood it has been running four and a half hours so far. |
