481  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Black arrow prospero x-1??? on: January 01, 2014, 10:42:07 PM
I am in Australia, I would like to by a prospero x-1 (not 10) I don't know where to place an order, I have asked in other Black Arrow threads but can't seem to get a definitive answer on who the reseller for Australia is.

Anyone know?

Hi everyone , I hope you all will have a great new year ! It seems to me that number of DEMs are increasing too fast , anybody would like to comment on that ? Thanks
The increase is constant as designed. 50 DEM every two minutes.

483  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL New Prices on: December 30, 2013, 10:05:41 PM
Prices are too good to be true, no way they can deliver in february if you order it today
Shit started to hit the fun on BFL side

Why not order the devices they actually have in stock and start mining?

Pre-orders are so 2013..
484  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL New Prices on: December 30, 2013, 09:40:37 PM
$984 for the 50GH/s is a reasonable price.

hi

will the 8 drillbit boards be still on sale
There are no drillbit boards currently for sale, there has not been any for several weeks.

Well .... https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=391228.0
Oh I am sure there are secondhand ones around, people scalping that kind of thing.

I am getting sick of having to login every few minutes, what's wrong with the login system? It use to be fine for many months, now it's just buggy.

I dont understand the fall.. Huh Its a fantastic coin.

It's because mosgt people are interested in just mining and selling straight away, the miners drive the price down by dumping as soon as they mine the coins, if they set Cryptsy auto sell to the high price instead of the low price it wouldn't creep down like that. When you consider the high difficulty in mining the coin, you can see how silly it becomes selling at the low price.

Notice most of the posts in this thread are about mining pools, very little about the coin and trade.

What is the story with Cryptsy logging me out several times a day? Why have you made it do that? It's really annoying, and the more times you have to use your password, the less secure things become.

After being very badly screwed over by Avalon this summer (with 1000s of other people) I will never buy any designs based on them, and suspect many feel similarly.

It's not just $ per Gh/s that matters, but I'd consider W per Gh/s to be most important since this is the metric that determines "when to turn it off", the lowest W/Gh/s chips will be the last ones standing. Avalon is much weaker on W/Gh/s than others. And that's if they actually give you the product you paid for and don't auction it to a higher buyer.

Watts per GH/s is can be controlled to some extent by the clock rate you choose to drive the chips.

We are not at the point where power consumption it trashing the profits, that will come but it's not where we are at atm.  Even my BFL Jalapenos are making a profit at their 5Gh/s for 32watts. That's 6watts per GH/s, the Avalon chips can be run at about 1.5watts per GH/s.

The ROI killer atm is the initial outlay, sha256 mining ASICs have always been way overpriced compared to other integrated circuits.

Barn said  on the other forum that they would be doing a 16 chip Avalon gen 2 board. They won 5000 chips in the Avalon design contest.
That could be interesting if they get the price right, the Avalon chip is not as fast as the Bitfury, quite a performance gap actually, but ultimately it's $ per GH/s that matters.

Thanks kano for the update, now that we know you have a Drillbit board in hand to play with, it makes me a lot happier. Will official Drillbit support be included in a future cgminer release?

Yes
cgminer 3.9.0 released today includes the drillbit driver
As I mentioned I have a thumb and a board, and both working well with 3.9.0

I just saw this announcement (I am a bit slow) http://avalon-asics.com/adjust-a3255-price-extra-free-chips/

Quote
Our design contest have finished at Dec 3 2013, this activity contributed to the community some usable A3255 design. The champion is drllbitsystem.com. They will receive 5000 chips. Their design files were here : http://www.drillbitsystem.com/avalon/

If you have any question on design. You can send email to here:

Congratulations guys, I didn't even know you submitted an entry to the contest!

494  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Hacking BitForce SC firmware with only free software on: December 23, 2013, 02:03:43 AM
I am trying to program the BFL AT32UC3A1256 with either urjtag or avrdude.

The problem I have is my programer is a JTAGICE Mk1 clone. The Mk1 was an RS-232 device so the clones use a FTDI or in this case a CH341 USB-RS-232 converter chip to do their stuff. It's not recognized by Altmel/AVR-studio versions greater than 4.19 unforunately 4.19 doesn't support the AT32UC3A1256 chips, and later version of Atmelstudio don't support JTAGICE Mk1. You can't win!

So far I haven't gotten urjtag to recognize the device either, although linux quite happily sees it on the USB port:

Code:
Bus 002 Device 004: ID 1a86:7523 QinHeng Electronics HL-340 USB-Serial adapter

[190562.309034] usbcore: registered new interface driver ch341
[190562.309102] usbserial: USB Serial support registered for ch341-uart
[190562.309155] ch341 2-1:1.0: ch341-uart converter detected
[190562.322280] usb 2-1: ch341-uart converter now attached to ttyUSB0

And of course avrdude has no entry for programming the AT32UC3A1256

I feel like I am so close to flashing the jally.

Any pointers on how to get urjtag working with this device would be greatly appreciated.

my dogs all stuck...the deposit issue, is it intentional to maintain the price? Grin

A pause in the DOGE dumping can only be good.

I am more worried why Crypsty is making me go though their horrible login captcha song and dance twice in the last 30min.

You think they could use a nice readable one like Bter or Crypto-trade use, but oh know, they have to choose one that works badly on people with focus problems.

496  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BETA][EXCHANGE][REALTIME] CoinEX realtime exchange with ZERO FEES for beta on: December 20, 2013, 12:55:12 PM
why don't they just launch the old site back up again? instead of holding back our funds!

Yeah, I thought that strange too, if there was something wrong in the trade engine, disable trades but still allow people to withdraw their funds, it's not like the crypto world is paused waiting for coinex, there are many places to trade but you need your coins!

497  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MCXNow Shutting down (Temporary) on: December 19, 2013, 09:30:18 PM
yeah Mogrith that seems about right. But the 1:9 rule was only discussed in chat, not in news or announcements, but I have to agree on that one, that was not a good move. But I knew what the risk was of buying fees. RS has the means and skill to make it work. Let's wait for part 2. (instead of distasteful death threats)

Chat is the announcements on that site, most people at the time knew about the 9:1 offer and many bought fees at like at well over 0.5BTC to take advantage of it, some bought hundreds! (davidpate)

And now I here the owner is not shutting the site on the 20th. anymore is that right?

498  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 19, 2013, 12:28:14 AM
I am still waiting to see a recovery that is not led by btcChina.
Although they had the biggest volume lately, that was certainly not more than the combined volume of the other exchanges who have already been though the central bank pressure to restrict fiat flow into BTC, it's just that media sentiment is still following China.
