1482  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Incoming Avalon News 8/9/2013 on: August 09, 2013, 04:45:23 AM
Oh come on, I expected more conspiracy theories as to why and how Avalon chips are being made available on Alibaba. Pay off? Stolen chips? Employee theft under duress (threat or kidnapping)?

http://www.alibaba.com/trade/search?fsb=y&IndexArea=product_en&CatId=&SearchText=A3256-Q48

Do you really believe all the people that placed early bulk ordered were going to make boards with the chips?

Scalpers are in on everything nowadays.

How about searching before starting a new thread on the same topic?

1487  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon getting $200m investment for 20nm ASICs!? on: August 08, 2013, 11:53:27 AM
Let's see what Yifu has to say about it tomorrow. You never know, there could still be some truth to it.

Which would be funny if the WSJ has to publish a correction to their correction!

1492  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: August 07, 2013, 08:54:31 PM
What part of the fact there are no chips yet, they are being manufactured, KnC is waiting on receiving them, there's not really much to update in the interim do you not understand?!?

But why can't they take a picture of the chips yet?
Because they obviously haven't arrived from the fabrication and packaging plants yet!

1496  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Is Bitcoin legally a Currency? on: August 07, 2013, 04:36:44 AM
Bitcoin is not a real money, it's an online money or virtual tokens alternative to dollar and euros it can be exchanged for goods and services at places that accept it. Bitcoin is a decentralized currency meaning there are no central bank to regulate it it more a p2p transaction.

As long as the virtual currency is accepted to your country then it is legal, besides many people are using it. However bitcoins popularity is unstoppable there are a lot of news going on about it's legality

Bitcoin is money according to one ruling:

Working on bi•fury now, a dual bitfury USB device.

It will have two bitfury ASICs, user settable
overclocking options and a temperature sensor
to provide for overtemperature protection.

Very early stage though, no idea yet if we will
get it hashing:)

What hash rate are you expecting from it?
1498  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] US/North American Bitfury sales now open ***full prototype pics*** on: August 06, 2013, 11:33:22 PM
How come the 25GH/s starter kit is still at the old price and not similar $ per GH/s to the new 400GH/s unit price?

It's like $52 per GH/s vs $20 per GH/s  which is a crazy difference.

NVM. I just noticed the starter kit includes the motherboard price too.
1499  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [TRC] poll : revert to basic static retargetting on: August 06, 2013, 12:48:46 PM
Sounds good, wouldn't mind seeing the block rate halved down to 1min. or less, whatever the threshold is were stales start to rise. So BTC-e with their 100 confirms don't take as long. It's a good opportunity for TRC to become a faster transaction SHA256 coin.

1500  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Jally down to about .1 BTC per day now - what is yours? on: August 06, 2013, 06:32:41 AM
I don't mean to be crude or smug but you *can* think about selling them before they lose too much value. You invested $ & time into them and it's ok to sell older hardware to "cut losses" when the iron is still hot in order to lock in gains in your investment.

You can sell it to me if you want before it becomes a doorstopper. I'll pay you up to $1.3k immediately PP or BTC if you want to unload it before it becomes just a coffee warmer, ya poor fellow.  Grin  Cheesy
It will only become a doorstop when it can't mine enough BTC to cover the running cost.  At 32watts, that wont be this year.
